⁰⁴·¹²am
My aimless sojourn
Took a different turn when
I took a left, not a right.
Each time I took a right
It gave me pain, misery and anguish
Despite being a right.
Tonight, I felt daring -
Daring enough to take a left,
Daring enough to take every left.
With each fork, my path got more twisted
And so did my adrenaline rush;
But I did not deter.
Then, at last, looming before me
With a finality of sorts,
Was the final fork.
Unlike the previous ones
Where I was a blind man -
This provided visual depictions of my choices.
To my right, was
An adventurous sea bank,
Bedecked with fireflies.
She beckoned to me
With her hypnotic gaze and waves,
And I almost listened.
Then, I saw the moon,
Then, I saw her throbbing chest,
Then, I noticed the tide.
I smiled at how I had almost
Given up my resolve
And committed the crime of forfeit.
I observed my second option
And what others call a third option,
To comfort themselves.
The second option was an anti-climatic bridge -
A small, concrete affair with no fanfare
While the third was simply the first one, but not as deceitful.
The choice was obvious,
Its nature wasn't as dramatic as one would expect;
But I took it anyway.
