The night sky glimmered filled with shining stars, and the full moon lit up the night. A shadow swiftly sped through the dark streets and alleyways of the city. Like a bolt of lightning, the shadow speeded through the night going in and out of every street almost as if it was looking for something. The shadow finally reached a halt after it left the city and retreated to the forest in the mountains. Finally, the darkness left the entity. Before the light of the moon reached the entity, it froze almost as if it saw a ghost but in its eyes, it was much worse. The light coming from the city bounced off a white mask that covered the face of someone whose head was wrapped in bandages. He had a black leather glove on his left hand and he wore a full-body black spandex suit. He had black boots and a black leather jacket. Along with him, he carried a bow and some arrows. As he lifted his mask the bandages seemed to move by themselves revealing his black hair and tan skin. A harsh magenta-colored light came bursting out of the mask. A few seconds later the shadow entity was gone and the masked man was nowhere to be found.

* the TV turns on and there is a news alert*

"Breaking news today in Los Angeles California! Another creature attacked the city last night, reports say that it was able to appear and disappear in the blink of an eye, but in the time it was seen it put its victims into a deep sleep filled with nightmares. When they woke up they lost some memories almost like the entity stole them. People also say that the creature was not traveling on foot, people who witnessed the creature without being put under its spell stated that it was like the entity moved through the shadows, allowing it to quickly move through the city. Officials stated that the entity was able to make it to the mountains, but when they almost caught up to the entity a bright flash of light was seen and all that was left was a pile of ashes that blew away in the wind. Keep safe out there. This has been channel 5 news at 9 and I am Emma Bryce signing off."

*the TV turns off and the remote is placed back on the coffee table*

The front door opens and a woman ruffly 5'2 in a business suit enters.

"Alex, I'm home!" she called

She enters the kitchen and places a heavy briefcase on the kitchen counter.

"Hey Alex, I'm sorry I didn't come home early. My business meeting ran late and I had to file some last-minute paperwork because my assistant got sick," she said in an exhausted voice

I enter the kitchen from the living room holding an empty plate, gently placing it in the sink, and rinsing it off.

"It's no problem mom, I know you're busy. I just want you to get some rest." I reply

I place a cocktail on the counter and slide it to my mom.

"Here have a cold drink," I said

She picks up the glass and takes a sip.

"Alex, did you break into my liquor cabinet again?! I told you to stop doing that. You're only sixteen and you shouldn't have alcohol. But to be honest the drink is good. So how was school?" she asked

I picked up a piece of paper and gave it to her.

"I got an A on my math test" I quickly replied

She stands up, moves towards the fridge, and reaches for a magnet to place the test on the refrigerator.

"I'm proud! Oh, I almost forgot to talk to you about what I saw on the news. I heard that another one of those monsters was in the city last night. Don't stay out too late. Okay? Those things are dangerous." she said worryingly

"Yeah Mom, I know," I said

Hey, my name is Alex Cruz. I'm a sixteen-year-old junior at Crystal Private High School. I'm just a normal teenager. I get good grades, I hang out with my best friend Val. But my favorite thing to do is to draw. I'm always drawing something, I draw so much that I've gotten pretty good at it. Oh, and my mom her name is Melissa she is the CEO of a multi-million dollar company, She is such a hard worker and I look up to her. But my dad I don't remember much about him. He was an army soldier and he died when I was around 5 or 6, ever since then it has just been me and my mom. My mom struggled but she worked hard and ended up becoming a CEO of a multi-million dollar company so life has gotten way better for me. Anyway, this is my life with my strong mom and my crazy friends.
