I was walking down the street after an interesting lunch with Ruby. On my way to the gate of the city walls I had some time to process what just happened, is Valentinogay? If so why did he not tell me? How did Ruby notice before I did? I have spent most of my life with him. How did I not know?

In my daze of self-questioning, I hadn't noticed that I had reached the wall. The wall separates the rich from the people with less money. The wall protected anyone that could afford it, the wall was built two months after the attacks started. It cost a few billion to make but they didn't give a shit, as long as they were safe in that wall. There are only a few openings in the wall, around four, one in each direction. And to reinforce the wall's weak points, (ie. the openings) they embedded diamond-encrusted platinum in the wall. There is no getting in without the four gates. To enter the city one needs to go through one of the city gates made out of pure gold and platinum they are made to keep people out.

I walked up to the gate with my ID in hand. This process is so tedious and useless. One needs to go up to the security guard and show them your ID, and they search for you in the system. If you are a resident they ask you where you went and why, and if not it's a way longer process. For one you have to have a day pass to enter the city, they ask you if you are here for business or pleasure and it just takes forever.

"ID please."

"Come on Tim you know me."

"Yes but it's protocol, so I can't just let you in Alex."

*Alex hands his ID card to the security guard*

"Okay fine."

Tim types rapidly on his computer and a light flashes green, he hands the ID card to me and sends him on his way.

The golden gate slowly opens and I enter and start heading home. I turned my head back to admire the wall when I saw it. A large piece of the wall fell revealing a large tree hand. At that moment it moved slightly.

"Ah, shit."

I went running until I found myself in a nice public restroom. I quickly went into a stall and shut the door, I curled myself into a ball on top of the seat, forgetting just how disgusting public restrooms are. I was just freaking out.

"I thought they were dead."

In my mind, I thought that putting plant giants in a wall away from water, dirt, and sunlight would kill them. I guess not. I am so screwed what if they escape.

*blast in the distance and alarms start to sound*

"Everyone you need to go to shelter something is up with the wall."

"What the hell is going on"

I pull out my phone and tune in to the local news.

Breaking News! The wall. It is alive. I have a live broadcast from the wall showing us what is going on.

*the broadcast shifts to live footage of the wall and a protruding branch moving trying to escape*

I immediately turn off my phone and start going into a panic.

"Shit, shit, shit. What should I do!"

I look over to my slightly open school bag. I reach over and open it some more. My bow and arrows sit nicely next to my leather jacket.
