The sunlight shined through my window, the cool breeze from outside blew my wind chimes and I slowly woke up. I brushed my teeth and went downstairs to make breakfast. Then I went to go get my phone from the charging port and as I disconnected it, I saw the time.

"Oh shoot, I'm late for school!" I screamed

I ran back up the stairs and bolted to my room to quickly get changed. I was so late that I just threw on random clothes. When I looked in the mirror I saw that my favorite white hoodie had a dark brown stain from when I went to go get coffee earlier that week. But I was already so late that I didn't care and just grabbed my bag and bolted out of the house as fast as I could. I already missed the bus so I just ran straight to school. I was almost two blocks down when I saw Val.

"HEY VAL!" I yelled

He stopped walking and looked over at me.

"Oh, it's you. Hey, Alex! You late again?" He replied

That's my best friend Valentino Alvarez but he goes by Val in public, we have been friends ever since preschool. You know that saying I have never seen two pretty best friends well it's not that one of us is ugly, it's that Val got a major glow-up. For one he got tall, we used to be the same height but he got his last growth spurt. He is 6 feet tall and I'm only 5'8. That's not all Val is also really good-looking, he has dark brown hair, light brown skin, and two dreamy eyes even though he is a bit self-conscious about them. Although he has a lot of people asking him out, he can't get past a first date. He has gone on dates with every single girl at our school but when I ask him about it he says "I still haven't found the right one". He also is the basketball team's star player you know because he's freaking tall! Also because he's a good player but I say it's mostly because he's tall.

"Hey, Val, did you hear about the monster that attacked people in the city last night?" I asked

About a year ago monsters/entities started appearing in LA. These monsters appear around once a month. These monsters are odd; no one knows anything about them. All that we for sure know is that the monsters end their rampage at the Hollywood mountains. When the first entity arrived, after it ended its rampage no one was allowed to enter the vicinity of the mountains or the forest near it. I know, why don't we get the military involved, the government decided to just close off the city because the monster always ends up disappearing. So we aren't able to do much about them, not even evacuate the city because of an odd boundary that surrounds the city. An invisible barrier that stops anyone from leaving, people can enter just not leave(that includes flying, car, and boat) So we are just learning to live with it because we don't know much about what's happening.

Val and I started walking down the street together while we talked.

"Oh yeah, those things. Don't worry they usually just attack Los Angeles, and then they just head toward the Hollywood mountains." He replied

I looked down the street and then looked back at Val.

"I know but what if they ever come to Beverly Hills those things are dangerous and we don't even know what they want. I heard that the one spotted last night put its victims into a deep sleep filled with nightmares and when they woke up they started losing their memories. What if that was someone we knew?" I asked

He put his hand on my shoulder and grabbed me.

"Alex, don't worry we'll be fine those monsters aren't coming here calm down, you worry too much. Now let's get to school we are late." He said

I pushed him to the side and started running to school.

"Ok, the last one there has to buy lunch!" I said rushingly

We both bolted to school as fast as we could and we finally reached school. Welcome to Crystal Private High School, the best and most expensive school in all of Beverly Hills. Only the richest of the rich can enroll their kids in this elite private school. That is why I hate this place, don't get me wrong, it's an amazing school but before my mom became the CEO of a multi-million dollar company I went to a normal public middle school in LA. Although, It wasn't the best I liked it. But when I graduated from middle school and my mom became a CEO my life changed a lot. We moved to Beverly Hills and went to Crystal Private High School, all the kids are insanely smart here because their parents get them, private tutors. It's hard to even match some of these kids but I try my hardest.

We ran up to the gate, but before we were able to reach the gate we were stopped in our tracks.

"WHERE HAVE YOU TWO BEEN?! You guys are late again." She screamed

We were running so fast that when we stopped we fell right on the grass.

"Owwww! That hurt. Hey, Ruby next time you don't have to scream and let the whole world know." I screamed in pain

This is Ruby Hernandez. She's my other best friend. She is one of the nicest and smartest people I know but she can get scary sometimes. I remember that one year Val forgot her birthday and she started crying and screaming so loud that I bet that they could hear it from China. Long story short an hour later I found Val knocked out in a dumpster and he got Ruby a beautiful brooch made out of real blood diamonds and rubies. She is scary but also really pretty, she has dark brown hair and dark brown eyes. She is also short, around 5 feet tall. How she managed to beat up a six-foot-tall athletic man, beats me, it just gives me more reasons to one never get her mad, and two never forget her birthday, or I might be the next one living in that dumpster.

I slowly stood up as Ruby helped me.

"So why are you two late again?" she asked

I helped Val up as I kept talking to Ruby.

"Sorry, Ruby. I overslept." I replied

"Well next time set an alarm, it's almost time for the first period. Let's go already."

Val and I quickly made our way to our first period. On the way, I was talking to Ruby about the monster attacks on the city. She gave me a concerned look and started talking in a serious tone.

"Val has been acting weird ever since the attacks on LA started. He never wants to talk about it even though it's the biggest story in LA," she said worryingly

"Yeah, I know I wonder what's going on with him," I said

Just as we reached the classroom an alarm went off and the school went into lockdown.

*The school P.A turned-on*

"Attention students the school is currently in lockdown we advise all students to stay safe and not to exit their classes, to see what is happening your teachers will play live broadcasting. That is all, stay safe everyone."

As I looked around the room at the panicked faces of the students and the absolute fear that washed over everyone. The teacher turned on the black flat-screenTVv that sat at the front of our classroom.

*A live news broadcast starts to play*

"Breaking news coming from Beverly Hills another entity has been reported but this time it was seen before it attacked the city. It was first spotted at the bottom of the Hollywood Mountains. Officials have stated that this entity can morph its body to create giants. What usually happens is that these monsters enter the city's borders but this monster has skipped attacking LA and it looks like it is heading towards Beverly Hills but hopefully, it won't be able to get past the walls that protect the city."

In the distance, I hear a loud blast through the window at the border of the city.

"I have just received word that the entity has gotten past the wall and is heading toward Crystal's private high school."

*A loud alarm starts ringing over the P.A*

We hear the principal's voice over the P.A system.

"Student it looks like the entity is moving toward the school and we have to go into a full lockdown!"

Metal bars start rolling down to block all the entrances. All of a sudden the roof collapses and all we see is a giant looking down at us.
