Paint it Blue

Moving was never typically easy for anyone but a fresh start was never known to be a horrible idea. There were some boxes that still haven't been unpacked yet but everyone decided they would just pick up where they left off the next day. After finishing their food from Pop's, they all just wanted to settle down for the night and get some sleep. When Winnie went back to her room, there were still some boxes piled up against the walls and the only things that were put in place were the bed, bookshelf and curtains. They wanted to paint the bedrooms before unpacking everything else but they needed to buy the paint first. Winnie already knew what colour she wanted her walls to be and was already thinking about how she was gonna decorate her room once the walls were painted and dried.
The next day, they got up early and drove to the hardware store to buy the paint and other supplies such as brushes, rollers and trays. Once they got back to their new home, they covered the floors with newspapers so they wouldn't get paint everywhere and opened the windows so the smell of paint wasn't the only thing flooding their noses. Guaranteed, there were some water breaks, food breaks and bathroom breaks. Their mother was helping Jacob paint his room while Tasha helped Winnie paint hers.
"Girl, you still read The Baby-Sitters Club? You haven't read those since you were nine," Tasha said while looking through the opened box of books while Winnie continued spreading the baby blue paint on the walls with the roller.
"If this is your way of trying to convince me to finally give you those books, the answer is still no and the answer will be no even after I die," Winnie said and Tasha scoffed.
"How do you always see through me?" she asked as she picked up her roller and got back to painting.
"Tas, do you really wanna go there?" Winnie chuckled and her sister just rolled her eyes while smiling.
The both of them continued painting the walls until the sky started to turn orange and their arms started to ache from the constant back and forth and up and down movements.
"I'm going out to grab dinner. You girls alright with Chinese?" Luna asked as she poked her head through the doorway.
"Sounds good to me, Ma," Winnie said and Tasha nodded in agreement.
"How much do you wanna bet we're gonna be having takeout tomorrow as well?" Tasha asked and Winnie just laughed.
"If the painting is done by tomorrow, it is possible she'll be able to cook something instead," she replied.
The both of them finished painting the walls in Winnie's room and then went into Jacob's room to see how much work had gotten done before their mother went out to get Chinese food for dinner. Two of the walls were already finished and Jacob was painting the third wall with the navy blue paint he chose at the hardware store.
"How's it going in here, little bro?" Tasha asked and Jacob smiled.
There was some paint on his jeans and his plaid shirt but he managed to not get any of it on her skin. "Mama helped me paint those walls over there," he said and the girls nodded.
"Do you want us to help you until Ma gets back?" Winnie asked and Jacob nodded.
Winnie and Tasha grabbed brushes and rollers and helped Jacob paint the rest of his room until Luna got back with a big bag of Chinese food and set it down on the table. The kids put everything down and took a break to eat dinner and relax for a bit while the paint dried. The sky was getting darker until it was a deep indigo and everyone decided that they had enough food for now. Jacob was already getting tired so Luna let him sleep in her room while she continued painting his room until it was finished. Tasha already finished painting her room and Winnie's room was finished as well. Luna decided to leave her room with the standard white walls so it was only the kids' bedrooms that were painted. They managed to get it all done by eleven and it was time for all of them to go to sleep. And when the walls were dry, they could put their furniture back on the walls and finish unpacking the rest of the boxes.
The next day was just unpacking the rest of the boxes and organizing everything. Winnie finished shelving all of her books and Tasha helped her put up her posters. It wasn't long until her bedroom looked like a teenage girl slept in it and it started to feel like home in their new house. Sooner than they knew it, they managed to get everything set up and put away the boxes. And just like Winnie predicted, their mother was able to cook something for the first time since they moved back to Riverdale. Jacob was happy that his room was set up and Tasha was just as relieved as the next person to be officially moved in. Now that they were settled in, it was the details that needed to be taken care of, more specifically, school registration.
this is very short so let's just consider this a filler chapter
