Fourteen

Akuppi-Adad continued to lead the way for Isabela—-they continued through the dark forests until they reached a small village—-Kraza.

Akuppi-Adad used this time to teach Isabela how to shift into a bat form.

Isabela looked at Akuppi-Adad as they stopped at a window.

Akuppi-Adad knew what she was going to ask so he nodded. “Yeah. It’s her.”

Isabela sighed and began to climb up the wall. She scratched on the glass.

She heard the muffled voice that must of been Langiva, “What the bloody hell? Who’s there? I live on the second floor!” She sounded panicked.

Isabela waved her hand. “You will let me in,” she chanted. Isabela wasn't sure whether the whole 'vampires can only be let in if you give them permission' thing was a myth or not, but she thought, better safe than sorry.

Langiva got up from her bed and opened the window. “Please do come in.” Her blond hair was illuminated by the moonlight.

Isabela scrambled into the room. She brushed the dust off her cloak.

“What are you doing here?” Langiva asked her after blinking out of her daze.

“I was sent,” Isabela answered. She immediately regretted that answer. Dammit, her mind cursed.

“What do you mean sent?” Langiva asked raising an eyebrow.

Isabela waved her hand in the air. “You will not remember what was said in the past two minutes.”

Langiva looked dazed for a moment, but snapped out of it. “Who let you in?”

Isabela didn’t answer. She just waited.

“Sorry about my tone, miss. I should introduce myself like a true lady would,” she said to her, smiling. “I’m Langiva. And who might you be, love?” Langiva asked as she took Isabela's hand and kissed it.

The vampire responded with, “Isabela Vaduva.”

“You’re not from around here, I take it?” Langiva asked her.

Isabela shook her head. “I’m from Acrainia.”

“Oh my. That’s a ways away from here. Tea?” Langiva asked her.

She shook her head. “No, thank you.”

Langiva shrugged, “Suit yourself, darling.”

“Would you be willing to help me?” Isabela asked Langiva.

Langiva nodded. “Of course, I’d be willing to help a pretty little thing like you.”

“Good,” Isabela mumbled under her breath as started closer to her.

Langiva looked puzzled. “Are we kissing now?”

Before Isabela could answer her, she bit her neck and drank deeply. Then, she pulled away.

“Um," Langiva reacted, holding her neck, seemingly confused.

“Drink this,” Isabela instructed as she cut her wrist—-in which, that exposed her blood that was now borderline black.

“Okay,” Langiva said, nervously; her voice was wavering. She lowered her head and to begin to drink deeply from Isabela's wrist. Finally, she pulled her head back. “You bit my neck and had me drink your blood... What’s the deal with that?"

Isabela rolls her eyes. “I’m a vampire. I was turning you into one too, you oaf!”

Langiva smiled. “Did you see my charming looks and think, ‘Oh wow, she'd make a good vampire'?"

“Did your parents think, ‘Oh why did have such a foolish girl'?” Isabela remarked.

Langiva ignored her. “How old are you?” She asked as she looked her up and down.

“Nineteen,” Isabela responded.

“I’m 22,” Langiva told her.

Isabela sighed. “I didn’t really care to know that.” She crawled out the window and to the ground.

Langiva had decided to follow her. She tried to crawl out the window, but slipped, falling into bush. She stumbled out of the bush, spit out a leaf, and said, "I'm okay."

Akuppi-Adad stood there waiting. “Was it really that bad?”

Isabela nodded. “Yes.” She shuddered. "It was terrible."

Akuppi-Adad wrapped one arm around her.

“Get your bloody stupid hands off my girlfriend,” Langiva growled to Akuppi-Adad.

Akuppi-Adad sightly flinched at the word, ‘girlfriend’.

“I’m not your girlfriend,” Isabela said. She turned back to Akuppi-Adad. “Let’s hurry back to Ferrantino.”

Akuppi-Adad nodded in agreement, “Yeah. Let’s.” He noted the expressions of the knights that were on patrol duty near by. "I'd rather not stay in Kraza longer than I have to."

With that, Akuppi-Adad, Isabela, and Langiva headed off.
