Josephine or Jo August grew up across the street from the Conklin's with her single Mom Lorelai August.

The first time she met Steven Josephine was five and was trying to learn how to ride a bike all by herself. She got to the Conklin's driveway before she fell off the bike and scrapped by her knees and her hands up. Steven saw it all happen and rushed to the brunette girl's side.

Thinking she dying he made her come inside with him and screamed for his Mom who tried to calm him down while Jo just stared at him like he was crazy.

After getting a Harry Potter bandaid along with a popsicle Steven walked Josephine back home and promised to help her learn how to ride a bike tomorrow.

And that was the day the unbreakable duo formed. After that incident Josephine and Steven were inseparable. Where one went the other followed.

Their mom called them twins born from two different women by the way they acted.

But the only con to their friendship was their summers were apart from each other. When the two were eight years old Steven demanded that Jo come with him to Cousins Beach.

When his Mom said no Steven wouldn't get in the car he just crossed his arms and started telling his Mom he wasn't going at all. He needed his best friends to meet. It was more important than Harry Potter.

Laurel just stared at her son who was sitting on the steps not moving an inch already behind to get to the beach.

With a sigh, the woman walked to the August household and asked Lorelai if Jo could come with them for the summer.

Josephine smiled up at Mom with a bag already packed and an excited smile that the older woman couldn't say no to.

It was no secret that Lorelai August adored her only daughter. She was beyond protective of her but as a single Mom who worked at a law firm, she didn't have as much time as she wanted for her daughter. Which is why she let her go with the Conklin's for the summer. She knew she would be safe and happier than that with a nanny here.

Josephine and Steven spent the entire ride to Cousins talking about everything they were going to do as Belly listened to them.

Once they all arrived Steven introduced Josephine to Jeremiah first since he was the one who always ran out to greet everyone.

Josephine hugged him making Steven laugh at that shocked look on Jeremiah's face. Jo was a hugger and he had to get used to it now so did the Fisher family.

Next was Susanna who adored the tiny girl the moment she met her. There was just something about Josephine that made Susanna feel like she already knew her.

And lastly was Conrad Fisher who when first met the tiny brunette fell in the pool pulling her with him.

Making a water fight begin and that summer was one of the best everyone ever had.

Susanna made Josephine promise to come back next summer and she did. Josephine always came back every summer.

And when she wasn't there during the summer Jo was texting the Fisher family of three. She was sending Jeremiah every funny meme she saw and he did the same.

Messaging Susanna about the cute outfit she got or the boy she had a crush on.

And lastly texting Conrad about any and everything. The two were always glued to each other during the summer.

And while they were away they either texted or FaceTime telling each other about what happened.

Josephine asked the boy for boy advice since Steve flat out told her he never would help her because her taste in guys was concerning. And Jeremiah just made jokes about everything the guy would say.

So that left Conrad who always told her she deserved better but helped her.

And Josephine was the calmness for Conrad. When everything felt like it was falling apart he went straight to her.

When Conrad found out about his Dad cheating the first person he called was Josephine who went into details regarding all the way she could and would kill him. And how she would get away with it.

Making Conrad laugh and smile the entire time.

Josephine never missed a summer to go to Cousins Beach until last summer. Her Mom had gotten a big promotion and got a few weeks off and decided to take her little girl on their dream trip to Greece.

The entire time Josephine was sending pictures of everything in the Cousin family group chat getting pictures in return and wishing she was here or they were there.

It was the first summer in eight years she had been apart from them but Jo missed her Mom. They still did things doing other holidays. Christmas they always went skiing and Thanksgiving was spent usually using a fire extinguisher since neither could cook.

But the summer was spent apart. The summer was usually her Mom's busiest time of the year so they didn't talk as much. But Josephine was never really alone.

She had Steven who made sure he spent at least one weekend a month at the August house watching all Harry Potter movies while eating junk food. The two were usually mistaken as a couple sometimes making both gag disgusted. They were more like siblings. Who actually tolerated each other.

And when Jo didn't have Steven she had Ollie. Her dog was her baby. He was a gift from her Mom when she was twelve for Christmas and Josephine adored him.

But this upcoming summer was going to be different. Josephine could feel it, but she didn't know if it was going to be a good difference or a bad difference.

All she knew was that something was changing. Especially Conrad. His text had gotten shorter and Josephine knew something happened.

When Conrad was trying to keep something from her he avoided her because he knew the moment he smelt her perfume heard her voice and looked into those eyes he would crack. Telling her everything while Josephine calmed him down.

For Josephine August was the ocean. And Conrad Fisher were the waves. Neither could exist without the other.
