2. Lightning Strikes
PA/n: Thank you for reading my fanfiction!!! ⭐️❤️⭐️
It was an astonishing turn of events for Arima Kousei as he stood face to face with his alleged biological father. Doubts swirled in his mind like a tempest, challenging the authenticity of this newfound connection. With a mixture of frustration and desperation, Kousei's voice quivered as he addressed the enigmatic man before him. "How can I believe you? Am I really your son? I've been tormented by endless nightmares for days!"
Mr. Alexandria's gaze held a mix of solemnity and determination as he addressed the room. "Kousei, your illness is not what it seems. You are not sick; you're simply grappling with the truth of your identity. You are a lost prince, a High Elf like your mother and me. The dreams you've experienced are fragments of your past, calling you back to your true realm."
Takahiko's mouth dropped open as he grappled with what Alexandria had just uttered to his adopted son. "This is preposterous! What are you talking about? How can you manipulate the mind of a sick, young boy?"
Alexandria glared at him and at the same time, held on Kousei's shoulder tightly. "I am thankful and grateful that you took care of my son for years but as long as he stays here, Kousei's latent powers are straining against the seal within him. If I don't remove it, he will lose control of himself. The seal within him cannot sustain his true self any longer."
"What... What am I?" Kousei asked Mr. Alexandria. "How can I be an elf? I don't look like one nor you!"
Mr. Alexandria looked again at Kousei. "I've sealed my image to hide and adapt my true self here while I look for you."
"What you're saying is impossible," Hiroko, Kousei's piano mentor told him. "Elves aren't real! They're mythical beings!"
"Elves are real," Alexandria snickered. "Even so, we are living in a different realm."
"Are you telling me that my dreams were about my mother?" Kousei asked him. "The song wasn't a hallucination?"
Alexandria's smile widened as Kousei mentioned the haunting song from his dreams. "Indeed, that song confirms your heritage. Only my son would hear it."
Takahiko couldn't bear to listen to the insanity he kept on hearing. "Leave, Mr. Alexandria! I can't bear listening to you anymore! How can you prove that you are Kousei's biological father? How can you make the boy believe his hallucinations are real and proclaim you are an elf?"
"Meeting us is an honor to both of you, then," Mr. Alexandria told Hiroko and Takahiko calmly. He also smiled at Tsubaki and Kaori, two young girls who were both in the Arimas' house. "You've met royal High Elves and that is rare for mortal beings in this mortal world devoid of magic."
"Are you really Kousei's father?" Tsubaki asked him. "What he needs right now is a supportive father."
"You can't just make up stories, sir," Kaori sighed. "Our friend's sick and he can't just have you lying to him."
Mr. Alexandria gave them a happy smile despite the onslaught of doubts and skepticism over what he had just uttered that day. He knew then that the people in the house were all just worried for Kousei but he knew the truth would come out in the end. He and his son were both elves, and they don't belong on Earth but on Middle Earth.
"What I say, I know, is a bitter pill to all of you and is confusing but seeing my son in front of me now, I can tell that what he needs more is for the seal my wife gave him when he was an infant removed. It's what's making him sick," Mr. Alexandria said to them. "Kousei is my son, Prince of Mirkwood and I am King Alexandria, Ruler of the Woods of Mirkwood. I am thankful to all of you as he had grown safe and sound here but it's time for him to leave this realm."
"No! I don't believe you!" Takahiko cried. "That's not true. That cannot be true! My son's human!"
Mr. Alexandria knew he couldn't stay in the Earth Realm to convince the mortals who took care of his son without shocking them and so, with a incantation, he closed his eyes, and a blinding bright spell revealed his true self. Soon, they were in front of a powerful Wood Elf with a strong sword on his swordbelt and the light revealed a powerful Wood Elf with silver hair and a man with an air of regal authority.
The room fell into stunned silence, Kousei's astonishment evident in his widened eyes. The weight of his doubts began to lift as he felt the palpable connection between them. Of course, Kousei was astounded to see he was truly staring at a man with otherworldy beauty and reflection. "Am I really your son? How can I be your son?"
"We can't stay here any longer. Your destiny is with us, son," King Alexandria told his son, then, he placed his hand over Kousei's right wrist. "You cannot stay human for much longer or else, your latent powers might kill you."
"Wait... I don't... Wai—!" Kousei cried out. "Am I... Am I really not human? What about my life here?"
Takahiko mustered his strength to interrupt the elf. "Does he really need to go with you? Who are you to be here?"
"My son needs me now," King Alexandria told him. "He's a royal prince that my wife brought here for his protection."
Lady Revina rose out of her seat, removed her white hood revealing her pointed ears. She smiled at Kousei and when their eyes met, Kousei and Takahiko remembered her. The woman had always been with them as she was Arima Saki's nurse. She bowed before Kousei which made him feel uncomfortable because of the sudden gesture but her presence was also something familiar. "I've always been with the prince, Mr. Arima Takahiko. My masters knew that one day, they'll have the prince back home. He doesn't belong here and he'll have to go back to the place and take the position he always deserved to have."
At the same moment, he heard the King Alexandria whisper a spell and with it, Kousei held on to himself as he began to realize that he was changing drastically into a being he thought he was not.
Kousei's throat tightened, a gulp of apprehension accompanied by the fear of the unknown. A gasp of astonishment escaped his lips as a searing heat enveloped him, the intense sensation signaling the metamorphosis taking place within his very being. His body underwent a remarkable transformation, shedding its human form to embrace the essence of an elf. His once-rounded ears gradually elongated into elegant points, his senses sharpened beyond human comprehension, and his eyes shimmered with a deeper, ethereal blue.
As the changes continued, Kousei's reflection began to mirror the figure of King Alexandria standing before him, an uncanny likeness that sent shockwaves through his being. His true image, that of a High Elf, stared back at him from the depths of the mirror, an embodiment of a heritage he had never imagined. A surge of newfound power surged through his veins, accompanied by an ethereal glow that seemed to emanate from his very core.
With an introspective gaze, Kousei's eyes locked onto King Alexandria, the last traces of doubt and uncertainty dissipating like mist in the wind. The seal that had bound his identity had shattered, revealing the truth that had been hidden from him for so long. Acceptance settled within him, a profound realization that he could not escape the destiny that awaited him.
Kaori, seeing the change made him worry as that moment seemed to be a goodbye to them. "Kousei..."
Kousei kissed her and tears just ran down his cheeks. "We'll see each other again one day."
Ryota, who had just arrived was just in awe when he saw the ethereal beings in the house and he almost didn't recognize Kousei but Kousei smiled at him making him know that the ethereal elf was his friend. Even so, it hurt him when he realized that his friend was about to leave them and they don't even know when they'll meet each other again. Even so, he was thankful that he arrived before his friend disappeared.
"You'll come back soon, right?" Ryota asked Kousei. "We'll miss you."
Kousei stood before him. "I hope so, Ryota."
King Alexandria stood behind Kousei and held his shoulders after he had opened a huge portal. "We have to go, son. Queen Arya, your mother can't wait to see you."
Kousei looked again at his human family and friends. It was still strange for him to have discovered that his dreams weren't really dreams but memories themselves. He looked back again at them and before he stepped on the glowing portal. "Take care of Kaori, Ryota!"
Kousei was about to step inside the portal when Kaori ran next to him and hugged him tightly. "Don't forget us, Kousei!"
"I won't, Kaori," he said to him and for that time, he bowed before his human family, said his goodbyes and entered the portal before it closed down.
Kousei vanished into the portal, leaving behind a realm that had been his home, and embarking on a journey to embrace his destiny as a High Elf prince. The portal closed, and the room returned to its mundane stillness, forever changed by the extraordinary events that had unfolded within its walls.
