protip for writing if you get to a point where you have a character whose music is 80% MSI tracks stop and reevaluate your life, this is coming from experience. i wake up every day and wonder why spoons is still here.

Spoons is actually interesting in a larger Chronaverse context because he represents the worst thing a light virtue can be and that is d e h u m a n i z i n g. Light virtues (Genny, Red, Rena, Toby, Illuet) have very strong internal moral purpose and are characterized by this and some source of power that works through them (light characters are usually born with power, rather than having to earn it, which seems like cheating, but it's usually what ends up fucking them up). They generally don't gel well with "reality", which means they're either just quirky and out of place, or in more desperate situations, they end up either inflicting their will onto reality or immediately isolating themselves from it, the latter being dangerous because they really need to be listened to, and the former being dangerous because their ideals usually have nothing to do with reality itself (see Red trying to save the other Amalgams but essentially thwarting any longterm growth or development as characters for them). Spoons happens to have a terrible set of self-serving morals, a warped sense of self importance, and as such he's a pretty fucking fun protagonist but a horrible person. I mean, everyone in Cutthroat/Advanced Placement is bad, but if we're going to point fingers, it was all his fault.
