Chapter - 35 Love
Lana Pipes
Come on Lana you can do this. You got out of jail and still are worried and anxious to face school. I squabbled with my thoughts.
"You don't have to go if you don't want to honey," My mom placed a hand over my shoulder expressing her concern.
"I envy her. She gets to stay at home and not me?" My 7-year-old brother Ben sniffled with a cute little maddened tone.
"Oh, the world is so unfair Benny boy," Dad smirked eyeing me while switching the newspaper's papers.
"See, even if I don't want to go, this dad and son duo is gonna take it out of me and make me go. It's obvious," I rolled my eyes.
"Oh, daughter don't forget that you have me. I can make things go smoothly for you," Michelle winked.
As much as she meant it in a normal way, my mind couldn't stop to care a hang and probing too deeply and somehow fright.
"I appreciate that Mom but I think I need to face it one day or another. I can't stay in the house forever," I whimpered. I had been at home for the past 3 days.
"Well, come on now mam unlike you, some of us would like to be punctual to school," Ben teased.
"You talk a lot. In your sleep, I am gonna knit your lips together and you will never talk about it," I teased back squinting.
"Nah, you wouldn't do that because to do that you first need to know how to do the needlework," He stuck his tongue out and began to scamper.
"You little rascal. I am gonna catch you and throw you away like a dodgeball," I berated and followed him to the front yard.
"Catch me if you can," He sprinted like a cheetah.
"Oh I will," I rushed to catch him.
I was so concentrated on chasing him, that I didn't notice who was staring at me. "Lana," A voice sounded my name. I very well know who that might be. I ignored him and continued to find Ben.
"Hey," Jaro greeted again.
"Hey, Jaro. Wanna join this play. Since Lana is so bad at catching me," Ben smiled smugly.
That made me go all crimson. I was furious and frustrated. I instantly moved so fast that Ben was startled. I snatched his feet emphatically and now I am holding him upside down.
"Never mess with me bonehead," I mocked and placed him on his feet.
"That was unhinged," Jaro's raven eyes commented.
"And you talking to me is unethical," I fired.
"About that, I need to talk to you," Jaro snorted.
"There's nothing left to talk. Angelina told you her decision and you need to accept and respect your girlfriend's terms and conditions. Don't sabotage your relationship for anyone," I expressed my concern. Even though I would be lying that ignoring him is more arduous than I thought it would be, it's the right thing to do.
"Woah baby cakes, if only you would let me finish it," He crossed his arms.
"Finish? Finish what?" I uttered.
"The sentence of course. What else would it be?" He questioned. "Unless you are thinking something else," He gave me a dirty smile.
"Nothing. There is nothing I thought. Fine. Just finish it," I yelled.
"Finish? Oh the sentence you mean," He taunted.
"I think I am not a suitable person for Angelina. I, I think that-"He ran a hand into his raven hair.
"Yeah, you wouldn't be a suitable person if you don't listen to her and make her unhappy," I blurted.
"I am, am gonna break up with her today," Jaro dropped a bomb.
What the hell?
"But you love her why this sudden change of heart. Are you nuts?" I yelled. "Is it because of me? I know I did crash into your private intimate movements. I had been such a klutz but please, you can't break up with her." I gaffed. "Do you want me to apologize to her? I will try and convince her that nothing is going on between us," I bellowed.
"Lana. No, I think I will only hurt her, by staying on her side." He whispered. I opened my mouth to tell something but he shushed me with his raven eyes. "And I think, I have affection for her platonically. And about us, do you think that there's nothing between us?" He whispered, swiftly holding my hands delicately.
"What the hell was that?" Michelle shrieked. I turned around to see my mom giving a black eye to him from her razor-sharp look. She came out of nowhere.
"Lana, leave," She ordered.
Well, I am not sure of what the hell was that. I took Ben and left for school. I entered my classroom and took my place but still, I was unable to shake off the sentence that he emphasized.
'And about us do you think there's nothing between us?'
Is there anything? What does he mean? I wish I had had the opportunity to hear his heed. I hope those 2 ex-lovers wouldn't claw at each other like wild creatures after I left.
"Lan, how- how are you? I heard about you and I was worried to death. Are you alright now?" Glendora's crystal blue eyes expressed concern. Glendora despite always managing to look stunning, now looked awful. Her eyes leave a trace of crying. She's in a black frock.
"Lana, babe. Thank god you got out," Pax joined her.
"Excuse me, there isn't any acting audition going on here, so you both can stop acting as much as it is impressively seeming real, I know I would be a fool to fall and believe that you would show this tutelage," I sighed.
"Lana, we were perturbed when we heard you were arrested," Paxton protested.
"Don't, please don't waste your precious time worrying about me Pax, instead go and utilize it to screw your new little girlfriend, Callie," I added.
"Lana, she isn't my girlfriend. I only love you," his hazel eyes pleaded.
"Stop it. Please stop it. Words have meaning Pax, do not use it until you mean it," I cried.
"Lana, we are begging for your forgiveness. What I did was unforgivable. Roger came to school yesterday and explained everything. I was blinded by love. I am so very sorry," Glendora Wecklic kneeled to the ground bending down her head with shame.
"As you said, it was indeed unforgivable Glenny. You should ask Scott's forgiveness first. You broke him bad," I breathed.
The whole day at school Glendora and Paxton tried to contact us one way or another but I and Scott even denied eye contact with them. Soon school finished and we started to leave.
"Lana dear, come here," I heard Aunt Layla wecklic call me. I see now she is pulling this mother-talk card to resolve. "When I was in high school, I and your dad Holder always used to grapple, unlike you girls. He never really liked Barry and told me he was bad news. I should have listened to your dad but if I had, I wouldn't have married Barry and Glendora wouldn't be here today," She explained.
"You see shit happens and there would a time where you regret what you did and hoped that you listened to your pal but take it as a lesson and move forward to build a even stronger bond," She added.
"I know things have been rough between you guys and I am not here to speak with you on behalf of Glendora even though she insisted on me by holding a gun at my head with a scary awful look. Figuratively of course," She added looking at Glenny's red hot face. She looked like a volcano.
"Well, I think now she really is gonna hold a gun to my head," Aunt Layla worried. That made me laugh and I laughed hard looking at both of them.
"There it is, your pretty laugh. I missed it. How are you, my girl?" Layla's golden eyes expressed deep concern. Her blond hair is braided beautifully. She is wearing a blue cardigan and white leggings.
"I am fine Aunt. I am sorry for not allowing you to see me there. It's-, it's just I didn't want you to see me like that. I appreciate your regards always," I hugged.
"I understand. Take care child," She hugged me back.
"I hope you will soon hug me too. I am sorry Lanz," Glenny apologized and left with her mom.
I and Scott decided to leave home together so I found him waiting for me. As I walked towards him, I spotted Jaro.
"Hey," He greeted.
"Hey. So you came here too? Whatever you wanna say that must be important huh? Even after your encounter with Michelle, you had the balls to meet me," I taunted.
"Yeah, that was quite an encounter with your maniac mom but listen, what I am about to say might seem crazy and you might think I am lunatic but, Lana Mary Pipes, I think I am in" He didn't complete the sentence.
"Lana, I have been searching for you all over the school. where were you?" Scott barged in. His brown eyes met Jaro's.
"Jaro? So Lana was the girl you were in love with?" Scott said sinking my whole world.
