Chapter 2: The Arrival
The man drops me off in front of this humongous castle, all black and brick.
The man takes my luggage and walks me to the castle. He walks me to the gates and they slowly opened making rusts noises. He puts my luggage down and leaves before I could ask what to do or where was he going. He vanished. Disappeared. What ever you call it.
I take this time to look at my surroundings. I was in a place that looked like it could be in the woods. I can hear animals shuffling in the bushes and trees.
I walk into the gates and stop at an all black door. I grabbed the handle and knocked with it. After a few it opens and I see a man with his head down and wearing all black. A black trench coat, black pants that look leather, black boots, and black gloves.
The man looks up and his eyes meet mine. "Hello, Ms. Lilian. I am Michael Petrovic, and I'm glad to accompany you into my home," His voice was like the other mans but more sharp.
I just nod and smile.
"Please...come in, " He opens the door wider to let me in and he gestures for me to follow him.
"This is a really nice place, Mr. Petrovic," I complimented. It was nice it was quiet and too peaceful, but nice. He had spiral stairs with a gold carpet in the middle of them. We walk up the gold stairs and into a long hallway.
"Why, thank you Ms. Lilian," He says as we stop infront of a door.
"You must be cold I can smell how cold you're b- I mean it's pretty chilly out."
I just nod as I soon start to feel cold, at first I didn't.
"This is you're room Ms. Lilian," He says, "There's some...rules I'd like to tell you. Number 1: you're allowed anywhere except the very top floors. After floors, 312 you may not go past. Second: you can only stay in these premises go nowhere except my home. You may go to the swing set, garden, or anywhere you'd like except out those gates. You would rarely see me in the day probably never but you will around supper time. And number 3: Mr. Vorlel here will be accompanying you, and cooking for you while I'm not here. Understand?"
I nod my head 'yes'.
"Now, you must be hungry. Humans are always hungry," He paused, "I mean us humans are."
I nod because I was starving.
He must think you're stupid with all this nodding.
He took me to the dining hall the table could fit at least 20 people. Mr. Petrovic sits down opposite of me while drinking this thick red beverage.
Mr. Vorlel comes with a tray of food. Steak, salad, mashed potatoes, green beans, Collard greans, corn, and much more were pulled onto it. I dig in right away.
"Aren't you going to eat, Mr. Petrovic?" I ask, my mouth full of salad.
"Oh no, I've eaten already," He said licking his lips. I do a little nod and go back to eating.
After hearing my fork clump up against the tray, I figure I was done eating. I clean up a little bit of the humongous mess I made and stand up.
"Goodnight, Mr. Petrovic, and thank you for welcoming me into your lovely home," I smile.
"Oh no problem," He smiles showing his teeth. Which I may add was beautiful, "Goodnight."
With that I get up and go. I wander through the hallways and come to this big-humongous-room full of paintings of all sorts. They look like they been painted years ago. They're all amazing but one caught my eye. A picture of a man in a red cape but dressed in all black he was wearing a fedora and standing on top of a tall building with his head down. I'd have to ask Mr. Petrovic about that soon.
"What are you doing," Mr. Vorlel says, walking into the paint room.
"I-I I was just looking at the beautiful paintings, Mr. Vorlel," I said not making eye contact with him.
"Now now, we don't come into this room alone," He says, with a warning and serious tone, "Ever again."
"Yes, Mr. Vorlel Sir." I quickly say and speed walk to my room. After closing my room door, I realize how sleepy I actually am. I put on my pajamas, climb in bed, and think until I fall asleep.
♣
I wake up to a hint of sun beaming through my window. There isn't much sun here and I hate that. It's late spring it should be hot and sunny.
I get up and walk to the bathroom. Though, I'm finished using the bathroom, I sit on the toilet for awhile longer. My butt feels glued.
I'm finally awake enough to leave, I wash my hands and get out.
I walk to my closest and pull out on my baby blue robe and blue bunny slippers, and put them on. I head downstairs, taking the elevator Mr. Petrovic was telling me about yesterday.
I get to the dinning table that's way to big for my liking. It's only 3 people who live here also that all black cat that sits right by the front door, I don't even think it's real but it's so realistic.
I sit at the table and there's a plate of food. Bacon, eggs, grits, and toast. I don't take any time to wait to eat. I pick up the Bacon and start stuffing my mouth. I eat everything else on the plate and leave it there once I realized I was done.
How am I finished? I don't remember eating all that food that fast.
I push in my chair and walk to my room, taking the elevator again. I reach my room door and open it, I am automatically hit by a cold breeze. I go to my suitcase and start unpacking things and putting them into my drawers and the closet. I finish and put on a blue sweater and some gray sweats with my UGG boots.
I walk into the bathroom to do my hair, I finish and sit on my bed. This house is extremely boring. After thinking for awhile I get up and walk out of the room.
I jog to the elevator and press the number 9 I'm only on the 2nd floor. So I wait until it takes me up there. Soon the elevator doors open and I walk into the room. It's so cold in this house! Mr. Vorlel and Petrovic's blood must be frozen by now.
I walk more into the room to find these statues they look ancient. I walk over to this one that stands out more than the others. It looks just like the painting I seen of the man in the red cape, but it was sculpted.
"Like vhat you see," I hear someone say. I turn around to see no one though. That's my queue to go. I dash out that room and run into the elevator as I repeatedly pressed the number 2.
"Hurry up! Hurry up!" I whisper yelled to the elevator. I finally reached the 2nd floor. I run into my room close the door and lock it.
Why would my mom bring me here it's not going to help me with my grades.
♣
I wake up to the big clock on my wall to it saying 6:30pm. Mr. Petrovic, should be here.
I get out of bed and to the stairs.
"Hello, Ms. Lilian," Mr. Petrovic says, as he awaits at the end of the stair case with his shoulder length hair wrapped into a pony tail and his hands behind his back.
"Hello, Mr. Petrovic. Nice to see you," I say as I walk into the dining hall for supper.
"You too, you look lovely," He says.
"Thank you," I smile, "I'm sorry to ask, Mr. Petrovic but can you please turn the heater up or make a fire because I'm so cold!"
"Oh, I'll put a fire place in your room tomorrow," He starts walking to the dining hall and sits opposite of me like he did yesterday.
"Thank you, Mr. Petrovic," I say and bow my head down. I then put a napkin on my lap and start to eat. Mr. Petrovic never eats. "Not gonna eat, Sir?"
"No, I've eaten already," He says as he sips his think red beverage.
"Oh, okay," I say, and start to eat but the quietness was bugging me so I had to start a conversation, "Mr. Petrovic if you don't mind me asking, how old are you?"
He sits there for awhile but finally says, "28, can I ask you the same?"
"I'm 17," I sigh. He was much older than I thought though.
"Would you like for me to show you around?" He asks.
"Yes!" I say and get with Mr. Petrovic leading the way.
