Chapter 9: Don't Date Before 18

Sabrina, Prince, Michael and I hopped in Katherine's car after spending 20 minutes at the nurse's office helping Prince with his bloody nose and black eye.  The other brothers and the sisters rode in Tito's car home. We were gonna get a ride form Trey but he's out somewhere with his girlfriend so we decided to ask Katherine for a ride. None of us really spoke a word during the drive, it was kind of silent most of he times. Katherine asked about what happened to Prince and Prince and I answered them all.

Katherine stopped in front of the house and looked back at us.

"Well bye girls and Prince. Tell your mom I said get well soon." She smiled. "And you too Prince, I hope you feel better." She smiled at Prince.

"Bye Katherine, thank you for the ride." I forced a smile unbuckling my seat belt.

"No problem." She said.

"Bye Michael." I weakly smiled at him.

Michael smiled, "Bye Ariel."

We got out of the car and Katherine drove off and parked in front of the Jackson's house.

I helped Prince walk to the house while Sabrina quickly walked passed us. She unlocked the door, went it and slammed it shut, not thinking about us outside.

I bet she's gonna break up with Jason after like a day of their relationship.

Prince and I walked in and I closed the door.

No signs of Dylan here, just peace and quiet.

"Wow, this is where you live?" He effused looking surprised.

I sighed and nodded, "Yeah." I locked the door.

"Wow, it's big." His eyes widened looking around the house.

Prince never came over our house even though we've known each other for years.

I pointed at the couch, "Yeah, go over there and sit down, I have to talk to Sabrina." I said walking towards the stairs.

He slowly limped across the living room and sat on the couch carefully. I quickly walked up the stairs and Sabrina's door is wide open and she's on her bed texting on her phone.

"Hey can I come in?" I asked quietly.

She looked up from her phone and rolled her eyes. I went in her room and awkwardly sat on the bed next to her as she stayed silent texting on her phone.

I sighed, "Are you breaking up with...Jason?" I asked.

She looked at me and cringed, "I don't know." She shrugged. "Do you want me to?" She asked.

I slowly nodded my head.

"Why?!" She raised her voice as she clenched her fists.

I looked at her puzzled, "What do you mean why? You know why." I pointed at her.

She sighed loudly and slammed her phone on the nightstand making it have a loud cracking sound.

"Why do you think that?" She crossed her arms and cringed at me.

"Oh my gosh it's so obvious Sabrina!" I threw my hands out. "He attacked Prince and you should be mad at him for that because Prince is your friend too!" I yelled.

"So?!" She shrugged.

"You've dated that guy for a damn day and you're not gonna break up with him?!" I raised my eyebrows.

"Nope." She emphasized the "p" sound and smiled a little.

I cringed, "You're sick." I mumbled getting up from the bed.

"One day is not enough." She said calmly. "I must give him another chance." She added.

"Another chance? What?! He attacked Prince!" I exploded.

She quickly got up from her bed and stood in front of me. Her eyes looked at me with rage and her eyebrows furrowed.

"That's why I told you to never date someone you just met, because you don't know what they're really like Sabrina. He could cheat on you!" I yelled.

"He would never cheat on me!" She raised her voice.

I crossed my arms and let out a fake chuckle.

"How do you know that?" I asked poking my hip out.

"He attacked Prince to protect me!" She pointed at her chest.

"What did Prince ever to to Jason? Huh?" I asked.

She sighed and shook her head closing her eyes.

"Prince was trying to get with me." She mumbled sitting back down on her bed.

I looked at her puzzled, "He what?"

She sighed again loudly, "Prince was trying to get with me. She retaliated, kinda raising her voice. "Jason texted me and said that Prince was threatening him because he was mad that I'm Jason's girlfriend. Then, he said Prince started the fight by pushing him and that's when the fight started." She explained.

I looked at her puzzled again, "Prince? He would never start a fight." I assured.

Sabrina raised an eyebrow, "And how do you know that?" She mocked.

"Because I actually knew Prince for years and you known Jason for what... Hm..... A DAY!" I raised my voice. "He could be lying." I added.

"Uh. Have you ever talked to Jason? No. You shouldn't just assume that he's lying." She raised her voice.

"Alright then." I started and I shrugged. "I'll go ask Prince. If he say that it's not true, I'm believing him." I crossed my arms.

"Why would you believe him?" She cringed.

"I told you already! I've known Prince for years and so have you! I'm gonna believe what I hear from him and not that raggedy ass Jason." I rolled my eyes.

She gasped and stood back up, "He's not raggedy, Prince is raggedy. He's broke and he looks homeless!" She spat.

"At least he's a better person than your lil rat you got!" I spat back.

"You don't know that! Jason is a kind and protective guy and Prince is like a freaking homeless boy trying to fuck every girl he sees!" She yelled.

"Ugh. You make me sick." I groaned.

"You do the same to me." She mumbled crossing her arms.

I swung the door open, "If he ever cheat on you, don't come crying to me." I mumbled walking out of the room and slamming the door behind me.

"I won't be crying to you because that'll never happen!" Her loud voice muffled through the door.

I wish I can slap some sense or of her!
Don't she not remember her last relationship?! In her last relationship, we found out the guy that she was dating, (Jacob), was also dating five different girls. She also thought that he was nice and caring, just the way she thinks about Jason. If Jason cheat on her again, imma be laughing my tail off because I told her so.

I quickly raced down the stairs and found Prince sitting on the couch, laid back with his eyes closed. I quietly went over to Prince and gently tapped his shoulder. His eyes opened and he weakly smiled at me.

"Prince can we talk?" I asked quietly.

"Sure, sit by me." He patted a spot next to him.

"Uh. Did I wake you up?" I asked.

Prince chuckled softly and shook his head, "Nah, I was just resting my eyes." He said sitting up.

I sat beside him and took a deep breath, "Sabrina said Jason texted her and said that you were trying to get with Sabrina." I quietly said.

He looked at me puzzled , "What do you mean?" He asked.

"She said that Jason said you were threatening Jason because you were jealous of him being Sabrina's boyfriend."  I explained.

Prince grimaced, "Ew. No. I don't like Sabrina like that. He's lying." He shook his head.

I knew it.

"Then, he said that you started the fight by pushing him." I added.

"True." He nodded his head.

"Huh?" I looked at him puzzled.

"He was calling me names and getting all up on me so I pushed him, then we fought." He explained.

I sat back up, "So- Prince... You started the fight?" I asked.

He nodded his head slowly.

I thought he doesn't like starting fights...

I sighed, "Prince. Don't do that. You have to-" I started.

"I was standing up for myself, I had to, he wouldn't leave me alone." He mumbled.

Now that he admitted that he started the fight, I know that he is telling the truth. He always tell the truth.

I sighed, "Just don't do it again, you were bleeding a lot and I can tell he's really strong and he can break any bone in your body." I said looking at his black eye. "I don't want to see a broken best friend, I wanna see a fixed best friend." I smiled weakly.

He chuckled and looked down, "I know, I really just can't stand when people mess with me." He said.

"I know, but please don't do it again because you always get beaten if you try to fight back." I begged.

He sighed, "You don't have to worry about me, I'm a man now. I'm not how I used to be back then, a weak wimp who can't fight anybody." He chuckled. "I'm a strong man and I can fight anybody." He said proudly.

He's too funny. He's gotta be joking right?

I looked at him and laughed, "I know this is mean but, how come you couldn't fight back since you're a 'strong man' ?"

He scratched the back of his head, "Ha. Uh. He's a lil stronger than me so I couldn't, but I can beat down other people." He smiled.

"Hey, and you're not a man, you're only fifteen." I playfully pushed his arm.

He chuckled, "Shut up." He mumbled.

*              *                *               *                    *
Prince's parents came and pick him up after three hours of chatting and watching tv like about an hour ago so I'm just sitting and watching tv in the dark in the living room by myself.
Prince's mom came over earlier and started crying about how Prince looked and gave me thirty dollars for helping him. She does that all the time but I always deny the money. Prince's family is really poor and I really don't like taking money from them. They're just like the Jackson family. Prince has a lot of brothers and sisters, about with siblings.
The Jackson family was once broke until the brothers created a little singing group and became famous. That's what I'm trying to tell Prince. I keep telling him that he should create a singing group so that him and his family can get money. Prince is really talented, he like playing with his guitar and other instruments. He'll play songs he know on the piano and only let me listen to them, not anyone else.

Mama rushed through the door with a few bags in her hands and quickly shut the door.

"Mama. You're back." I popped up out of he couch.

She panted and turned on the light, "Yeah, I bought y'all some Mc. Donald's." She said out of breath rushing towards the dining room table.

When your mom brings home food... 😅
YAY! 😆🙌🏾

I rushed towards the dining room and turned on the light as she sat the bags of food down on the table.

"Go get your sister so she can eat." She said carefully placing the cups down on the table.

I sighed softly and shook my head, "Sabrina? I am not gonna talk to her, she's gonna start yelling at me again and I don't feel like cutting somebody's vocal cords out tonight." I mumbled sitting down.

Mama sat down beside me, "Why?" She asked.

I sighed, "Some stuff happened." I mumbled getting grabbing my food out of the bag.

She looked at me puzzled, "What happened? Wait. Uh. SABRINA I BOUGHT MC DONALD'S!!!" She shouted so that Sabrina can hear her from upstairs.

Ugh. I don't want her to eat with us.
My mood changed from happy to annoyed cause I know we're gonna have to talk about this again...

I heard Sabrina's door swing open and footsteps quickly pounding the stairs.

"I gotta talk to y'all." Mama said to Sabrina as she walked toward the dining room.

Sabrina groaned and frowned at me.

"Sit down." Mama pointed at the chair across from her.

Sabrina, with an attitude, pulled the chair back and slammed herself down on the chair snatching the back of food from the middle of the table.

"Hey, fix your lil attitude you have." Mama mumbled. "I gotta talk to y'all cause I got a call from Ms. Nelson (Prince's mom)" She said sipping her drink.

"What about Prince?" Sabrina mumbled.

"Ms. Nelson told me that some guy uh- I guess his name is Jason right?" She unsurely said raising one eyebrow when she said "Jason".

"Yeah." I nodded and Sabrina's eyes opened wide.

"Well she told me that she came over here to pick Prince up and you told her what happen to Prince." She said to me. "And I want to thank you for helping Prince, that was a really kind thing to do Ariel, you deserve something." Mama smiled at me.

I blushed and smiled at her back, "Thanks mama." I mumbled.

Sabrina shook her head, "Prince deserved that beat down." She mumbled.

I cringed at her,"No he didn't." I rolled my eyes at her.

Mama gasped, "Sabrina, why did you say that? That's not nice." Mama shook her head.

"Because- uhh- he." Sabrina hesitated thinking about what to say to her.

We're not supposed to have boyfriends until we're seventeen so I guess she's gonna lie.

"Jason tried to uh- protect me because Prince was trying to do something bad to me." She lied.

She lied and she thought she sounded like she was telling the truth but it's so obvious that she's lying. She's a bad lier. At least choose a good excuse and not a bad one.

"What was Prince trying to do?" Mama asked chewing her food.

"Uh-" She started looking down.

"And who is this Jason guy?" Mama asked.

"Jason? Uh. He's my friend." She lied with her voice shaking.

I chuckled softly and rolled my eyes, "You're such a bad lier." I mumbled.

Sabrina shot her head up and looked at me.

"Shut up." She mouthed.

"Lier?" Mama puzzled.

"Sabrina is lying. Jason is her no good boyfriend." I spoke up.

Mama sighed and looked at Sabrina, "Sabrina, I told you not to-"

Sabrina sighed, "Mama, I'm almost sixteen give me a break. I need to grow up."

"Sabrina I told you not to date anyone before the age of eighteen!" Mama raised her voice.

I thought it was seventeen but okay...

"You don't want to be a teen mom like I did Sabrina and I don't want you too."

"I am not gonna be a teen mom! I-" Sabrina whined.

"Don't date anyone before the age of eighteen and that's for the both of you!" Mama scolded. "I've been there before and it's not fun. I had Trey at the age of sixteen and my mama kicked me out the house."

"You wouldn't do that to me would you?" Sabrina asked.

"No, I wouldn't but I still don't want you to dating before the age of eighteen." Mama said.

"Mama, I'm not gonna be a teen mom! I promise and Jason would never do that to me!" Sabrina raised her voice.

"How do you now that Sabrina? You only knew him for a day!" I said.

I don't mean to be such a snitch but she need to be more smarter than that.

Mama gasped, "A day?!" She raised her voice in disbelief.

Mama looked at her with so much anger in her eyes I thought she was gonna flip the table but she didn't. She dropped her plastic fork in her salad and clenched her fists. Sabrina slowly nodded her head looking down at the floor.

"Sabrina." She growled and and took a deep breath trying to calm down. "I want you to break up with him." Mama said.

Sabrina popped her head up and gasped, "What? Mama you can't do this! I- I love him!" She cried.

"I told you already not to date before the age of eighteen!" Mama raised her voice. "Break up with him!" She demanded as she pounded her fist on the table.

Sabrina kicked the table and got up, "Ugh! I wish you can keep your big mouth closed Ariel now it's your fault!" She yelled at me.

"My fault? How is it my fault? You're the one who didn't listen the first time!" I yelled back at her.

"I freaking hate you!" She yelled at me. "Next time mind your own business!" She stormed out of the dining room and stomped upstairs.

Such a brat. Ugh. And I'm younger than her too.
