Chapter 36: Prince vs Tito

Michael's POV

Music program is a program in our school that has a lot of talented gifted students that love to play instruments, that love to sing, rap etc. And my brothers and I are going to audition to perform a show for the upcoming school event. It's a great class for people who want to be a musician and people who are already musicians.

If my brothers and I don't make the audition, Joseph's gonna kill us.

I walked into the room and the cold air breeze hit my face and my arms, making goosebumps appear on my arms. The students sat all over the classroom, on the floors, on tables and chairs chatting with each other, waiting for class to start.

From the conversations I'm hearing, mostly everyone is talking about the interview about Ariel and Prince to their friends.

I've honestly heard enough already...

The room got silent when a few people noticed me standing there in front of the door. The students stared at me up and down with a nasty look on their face as if they smelt a skunk and turned around and start talking again. I felt some embarrassment rush into me so I decided to quickly choose a seat in the room...

I spotted my brothers, Tito, Jackie, Jermaine and Marlon sitting on the table in the close the the front of the room chatting with each other. I decide to walk over there and set my books down on the table and sit in the chair next to Tito.

They all stopped smiling and talking to each other and they slowly turned their head towards me like what the students did after I walked in. They stared at me emotionless while I sat there waiting for one of them to say something to me.

"What?" I finally say raising my shoulders.

"You know what. Break up with Kaitlyn." Marlon mumbled.

I smacked my teeth and rolled my eyes, "Don't let me get started!" I warned. "I'm not going to break up with her!" I demanded pounding my fist on the table.

"You have to break up with her! She's a lier Mike!" Jermaine declared.

"That's why everybody is throwing shade at you today because you still continue to date a lying girl."

"No, no, no! I'm not gonna break up with her! No!" I repeated to make myself sound clear to them.

"Just because Ariel is out here trying to tell everyone that Kaitlyn is a lier and all that doesn't mean she's a lier! She's just trying to get out of trouble!" I assumed.

"When Kaitlyn told everybody about Ariel, she probably got scared because she knew everybody was gonna get on her for bullying so she lied and said that she's not a bully so that she would not get in trouble!" I explained to them as they smack their teeth and rolled their eyes at me.

"You got it all upside down Mike. Kaitlyn lied about Ariel so that Kaitlyn won't get in trouble." Tito disagreed.

"And how do you know that? You barely even talk to Ariel and you barely even know Kaitlyn!" I threw my hands up.

"Oh I know Kaitlyn! She's so rude. Latoya always talk about her whenever she had a bad day with Kaitlyn." Tito said.

"And how do you know that Ariel 'lied' about Kaitlyn because she wanted to get out of trouble?" He raised his eyebrow and pointed his lips.

"Because I know." I pointed to my head. "It's so obvious."

"It's so obvious that Kaitlyn is a gold digger and lier but you're too dumb to notice." Jermaine spat crossing his arms and slouching in his seat.

All of a sudden everyone turned toward the front of the room and start clapping and standing up. I looked to see what was going on and their stood Prince and Ariel in front of the door holding hands...

"Aww they're so cute together!" Someone cooed over the loud clapping.

"I saw that interview last night." I heard somebody else said from across the room.

"Ariel what you doing here girl?! You supposed to be going to class!" This guy named Trevonte yelled across the room.

"I'm just walking Prince to class." She said chuckling.

She's always taking Prince to first period now and she rushes to her class after walking Prince here.

I feel bad to say this but I don't wanna see her face.

Her eyes finally met mine and her smile kinda faded and a frown appeared. I copied her frowning face and she rolled her eyes at me.

I wanna be her friend but I just can't. Her attitude towards me is unacceptable and the way she treats Kaitlyn...

I miss the old her, the nice Ariel... until I found out she's a complete bad chick.

I finally switched my eyes to Prince and realize that he's staring at me with a death stare. My heart starts to pound faster as he wraps his arm around Ariel's waist and pull her close to him without taking his eyes off me.

I look at Prince with a lot of disgust shown across my face. I watch him roll his eyes and start to talk to the students crowding Ariel and Prince.

I'm starting to hate Prince. I hate seeing him with her for some reason. It just makes me mad... I just wanna punch him sometimes.

They were voted for the Top Five Cutest Couples and they're number two... Are you kidding me?

After they had a conversation with some of the students that asked them about the interview, they pecked each other on the lips and everyone cooed loudly.

"I gotta go to class. Bye Prince." Ariel waved at Prince and rushed out the door.

"Bye Ari!" He waved as she sprinted down the hallway.

Prince then sat down next to his friends, André and Morris, the ones who showed up on tv with him last night.

They're lame.

My brothers and I can do so much better than they can.

I can't wait until we perform tomorrow night and then we can show them how it's really done.

Suddenly, the crazy teacher came in, Mr. Flaff. He's a tall, slender, middle aged man and he has black curly hair. He doesn't match his clothes right and he always wear torn up shoes.

Of course that ticks me off because I'm more of a perfectionist. I like every matching and fitting right.

But he's my favorite teacher so I'm just gonna let that slide...

Mr. Flaff looks at Prince and his friends and smiled very brightly at them.

"Prince and the Revolution. Y'all did great last night. I can't believe it." Mr. Flaff said proudly putting his hands on his hips.

I rolled my eyes as everyone cooed and cheered for Prince and his friends.

"Thanks. It took a lot of hard work." André spoke up chuckling a little.

"I can see! Y'all were jamming last night." Mr. Flaff exclaimed. "You wrote that song for your girlfriend, Ariel?" He asked Prince.

"Yeah." Prince nodded his head and smiled.

"Wow. That was a sweet song. Since you made that song for your girlfriend and everybody loves the song, you'll probably make the auditions for the next upcoming school event." Mr. Flaff told prince.

Who said everybody likes the song?

"Yeah, I'm looking forward to that." Prince said smiling.

"Hopefully we'll make the auditions." André spoke again excitedly.

"Yeah, hopefully we'll make the auditions too." Tito spoke up unexpectedly having everyone to turn around and look at him.

"Oh- uh- y'all are auditioning too?" Mr. Flaff looked at the five us us.

"Yes. We are." Jermaine shook his head and chuckled softly.

"Well... I know this is going to be a hard choice." Mr. Flaff laughed. "Prince and the Revolution and the Jackson Five are both good groups."

"But we're greater." Marlon boasted. "Tito can kill the base guitar, we all got our dance moves on point and our music is great." He added. "Ain't that right everyone?" He asked the class standing up.

The students cooed and clapped while Marlon nodded and clapped along with them.

My heart starts beating faster after Marlon made that statement knowing things are about to go down. I watch the faces of Prince and his crew and they look like they're gonna fire back at us.

"Yeah I know y'all are-" Mr. Flaff started until André spoke up.

"But can Tito play more instruments than Prince can? I don't think so.. Can Tito play the guitar better than Prince can.. I think not." André spat looking at us.

Everyone "oohed" and the teacher scratched the back of his head watching the argument start.

"I can play better than Prince." Tito stood up giving Prince a death stare. "And it doesn't matter about how many instruments a person plays, it's all about the talent." Tito told André.

Morris busted out laughing, "Playing a lot of instruments is talent! Stop trying to be inspirational. You're killing me!" Morris cackled and the class started laughing with him.

"Well, can y'all dance and sing like we do? Do y'all rehearse day to night like we do? It doesn't look like it. Have you been playing guitar and dancing ever since you was ten years old?" Tito spat back.

"Okay, let's not argue tod-" Mr. Flaff started.

Prince interrupted, "Yes we can dance and sing. I've been playing a lot of interments since I was seven years old." Prince grimaced at Tito.

"Well let's meet some day after school to show proof." Tito gave the death stare at Prince.

"Didn't you see me on tv last night? I was playing guitar." He popped his shoulders up.

"Yes I saw you. What? You don't wanna do it live in front of me and crowds of people?"

"So you're planning on doing it in front of a lot of people?" Prince asked.

"Yes, why? You're scared?" Tito mocked chuckling a bit.

Prince rolled his eyes, "No. I just don't know why you wanna battle me."

"Because you and your group think you have all the talent, which you don't." Tito rolled his eyes and sat back down in his chair.

"Yes we do. I guess you're just mad at the fact we're getting popular." Morris chuckled.

"No, we can't stand people who think they're better than us when they're really not." Jermaine corrected.

"Okay! Let's not do this today! Let's start class." Mr. Flaff rushed over to the white board. "Get your instruments and I want y'all to make a short song." He pointed at the board.

"Or y'all can just freestyle with your instruments." He shrugged walking to the door in front of the room.

"I'll be right back, I have to go to the office. Be on your best behavior!" Mr. Flaff said grabbing his school keys of the table and strolled out the room.

And with that, everyone started talking again and some grabbed their instruments from the back corner of the classroom and I walk to the other corner of the room to play piano.

I kept switching my eyes from Prince to Tito back and forth, knowing they're probably gonna do something against the rules from the way they're aggressively pulling their guitars out of the cases.  The class was kinda silent because some of the students were watching them as well.

Prince walked in front of Tito with his big dark brown, shiny guitar with his friends behind him. Tito was already tuning his guitar and testing it out so that he can play.

After he was done tuning his guitar, he made a disgusted look at Prince looking at him up and down.

"What do you want dumbass?" Tito mumbled with his eyebrows furrowed and his lips pouted, looking like he's probably gonna end up banging his guitar on Prince's head until it's completely destroyed and buy a new guitar in a few weeks.

Lord, please let that happen because I don't like Prince...

I got up from the piano seat quickly and hurried over to the crowd of students surrounding Prince and Tito.

"Let's have the battle now." Prince gave Tito a devious smile.

It has been fifteen minutes since the teacher has left and Tito has sweat all over his forehead battling Prince with his guitar while the students cheered for the both of them. Prince had no worries across his face but this devious smile waiting for Tito to finish playing his guitar.

My brothers and I stood behind Tito cheering him on with a few students and Prince and his friends did the same with a few of the other students on the other side of the room.

It's pretty loud in the classroom because of all the wooting, yelling, clapping and the two loud guitars. Some of the students were recording us on their phones and cheering them on at the same time.

Tito finished his booming freestyle on his guitar and it was Prince's turn. Prince ran his fingers up and down the guitar and swiped his chip rapidly making a loud hard rock music sound.

Everyone cheered with surprised faces and some of the students just watched.

Tito watched getting even more mad and interrupted Prince's solo by playing his guitar even louder than how Prince was playing.

It sounds like a big rock concert in here....

Tito ran his fingers up and down the guitar and aggressively and stroked his chip up and down the strings and then all of a sudden, the sound of a door opening and closing sounded.

"The principle is here! Stop playing!" Someone shouted over Tito's loud guitar.

My heart skipped a beat when I turned my head towards the door to see a very tall, nicely dressed angry man standing by the door. Tito stopped playing his guitar and looked the same direction and dropped his guitar chip on the floor.

Mr. High spotted both Prince and Tito holding guitars and opened his mouth very wide.

"What is going on here?!" Mr. High exclaimed grabbing his hair.

"I- uh- I just- uh-" Tito stuttered.

"We've hear a lot of complaints coming from the other classrooms! The music is too loud, even I can hear it from my damn-" Mr. High stopped and realized he said a cuss word.

Everyone started giggling at the angry Principle after he accidentally said the cuss word.

"The music is too loud that I can hear it from my own dang office!" He repeated correcting his foul word.

"And where's your teacher?! Isn't he supposed to be here?!" He looked around the room trying to look for Mr. Flaff.

"No sir, he said he went to the office." Morris said chuckling and sitting down on the table.

Mr. High sighed loudly and motioned his finger for Prince and Tito to come his way.

"Prince, Tito, come with me, you're going to the office."" Mr. High said calmly.

Everyone "Oohed" as Tito and Prince sat their guitars down on the tables and angrily walked out of the classroom with the Principal High.

Prince's POV

We left Mr. High's office room holding a pass for our detention after school. We have to stay an hour after school because of the loud guitar playing earlier.

Tito told the principal that it was my fault because I started the battle too early after Tito said we'll do it after school, which I think is true because I couldn't wait to just start the battle.

The whole "battle after school" sounded like he was going to go home and practice playing his guitar before we battle so I thought it would be cool to battle him unexpectedly to see if he really have talent like he said he has.

I don't know why he thought he's way more better than me...

Is he jealous that I play better than him?

Is he jealous that I have a group and gained a lot of popularity in a short amount of time?

Is he jealous that he was forced to be in the "Jackson Five" and won't ever have his own group like me and my friends?

Obviously.

Because he wanted to battle me... He wanted to try to beat me. After I would do my freestyle, he would try so hard to make it sound better than mine. I could tell because of his sweat. The class cheered loud when I would play so I guess I won. Thats what you get for thinking that you're all that.

"Man, shut up, you the one who was getting mad at the fact that I was auditioning because you're jealous!" I said in a irritated tone.

Tito and I are walking down the hallways to get back to our class after staying in the office for about twenty minutes.

"How am I jealous?" Tito pointed at his chest. "I'm not jealous of a little midget person who don't know how to sing!" Tito spat. "You're jealous!" He pointed at me.

"How am I jealous? I'm not jealous of a dude that gets jealous of a better person that actually have talent because he doesn't." I mocked stopping at the middle of the hallway.

"You're jealous of my group. That's why you made yours!" Tito stopped and turned towards me.

"I was never jealous of your group and I'm not now! You're just jumping to conclusions! I can't make a group now?!" I threw my hands up.

"No because you're trying to be better than us even though you're not." He assumed.

"So?! Even if I'm trying to, which I'm not , just leave us alone and let us be us."

"No because you're copying us!" He assumed.

"How? We don't sing those little cheesy songs." I made a short fake chuckle.

"What the hell is ABC and that one to three song?" I said harshly and laughing a little bit at the thought of it.

"That was when we were younger, of course it was supposed to be cheesy dumbass. At least we knew how to sing and dance at a young age." He rolled his eyes.

"I knew how to dance and sing at a young age too and play more instruments than you did. So, don't come up to me saying that I don't have talent when you don't have talent yourself." I pointed to his chest harshly.

"I do have tal-"

"No you don't." I interrupted.

"That little freestyle you had, was horrible." I made a disgusted look. "Do better kid." I nudged his arm as I walked through him....
