Chapter 15: Lunch With Prince

Lunch
Prince's POV•
I waited in front of the cafeteria for Ariel to arrive. I really don't feel like eating in the cafeteria this time. Since our school allows us to go off campus during lunch time, I'm gonna bring Ariel with me to my house and we're gonna have lunch there since it's close to the school. I really want to show her what I can do on the guitar. I'm thinking about writing a song for her. My very first song. She deserves a song written a for her. She's so beautiful and I have a huge crush on her. She doesn't know that but she will some day.

I kinda felt bad for her when Ms. Steely read the notes that Michael and Ariel have been passing for like 10 minutes, but I got really mad when Michael said that she's pretty. I hate the fact that they live close together and I hate the fact that Ariel talks to Michael more than she talks to me. I wonder if she likes him. I wonder if she likes me. If she don't, imma try my best for her to like me! I've had a crush on her for the longest and I think it's time to move up a level.

I spotted Ariel walking towards the door, her eyes widened when she saw me.

"Hey." I smiled at her.  "Come here." I motioned my finger for her to come towards me.

She weakly smiled at me, probably still in the bad mood for what happened earlier. She never came back to class after she ran out crying. After class, I tried to find her but she was no where to be found.

"Do you want to go off campus with me and eat lunch over at my house?" I asked her.

She sighed, "Sure. I guess."

"Good. I hope my mom is cooking some good lunch." I smiled.

We walked out of the cafeteria then walked out of the school and walked a couple blocks to the house which took about 5 minutes. It felt like a long walk because she didn't talk to me the whole time and plus it was very hot outside.

I wonder if she's gonna be silent the whole time.

We walked in the house and spotted my mom reading a bible on the couch with the tv off. My family is a Jehovah's Witness. My mom reads the bible almost every day and night with my dad and we don't really celebrate any holidays or birthdays.

"Hey Ma." I closed the door behind me.

"Hey." She looked up from the bible and smiled at me and Ariel. "Hey Ariel, long time no see sweetheart." She smiled brightly.

Ariel shyly smiled and waved a little.

"I guess y'all are here for lunch." She assumed and closed the bible and set it beside her getting up from the couch.

I nodded, "Yes ma'am."

"I just got done cooking some Macaroni and vegetables." She said pointing at the kitchen.

"Thanks Ma." I said walking towards the kitchen while Ariel followed me.

"Enjoy your lunch." I heard her from the living room.

I looked over at the big piano far behind the dining room table. My dad isn't there so he must not be home, or he's probably asleep in his room. Mostly when I go home for lunch, my dad is always in the piano writing new songs and whenever he's not there, he must be out somewhere.

"Ma! Is dad home?!" I shouted so she can hear me from the living room.

"No! He has an interview today!" She shouted back.

Good. I can probably show Ariel my talent on the piano and guitar today.

I'm not supposed to be playing on his piano when he's home so whenever he leaves or he's not home when I come home, I play on the piano and he never notices when he back home. Mom doesn't mind if I play with the piano. Sometimes she'll watch me and never tell Dad about me playing the piano.

We both got are own macaroni and vegetables off the stove and went upstairs to my room to eat.
•Ariel's POV•
Prince brought me to his neat, small room to eat lunch. It's kinda awkward because we're just sitting and eating. He's on his bed eating silently while I'm on the wooden floor eating a plate full of vegetables and little macaroni and cheese.

I'm going to start my diet TODAY. A healthy diet with more fruits, vegetables, water and no junk food. My diet is going to end when I'm as skinny as Sabrina and the others.

Prince unexpectedly poke my arm gently while I was quietly eating my vegetables. I looked up at him and he had a little smile on his face.

"Why are you so quiet? You're never this quiet around me." He asked.

I sighed, "I don't know. I just have a lot of things on my mind. I'm kinda embarrassed." I mumbled.

"Don't be embarrassed. There's nothing to be embarrassed about." He shrugged.

I rolled my eyes, "What do you mean there's nothing to be embarrassed about?! People made fun of me in cheer and modeling and posted mean things about me on Instagram then Ms. Steely read that stupid paper!" I raised my voice.

His eyes grew wide open, "What are the things they're saying about you?" He asked.

"Hmm. Calling me fat! Calling me a pig and that I'm heavy!" I freaked.

"Woah. Calm down." He said calmly. "You know good and well you're none of those things."

"Yes I am. I just-" I stopped and sighed. "I just need to loose weight. You know? I kinda don't like when people say things about me like that and I don't like my body image." I said quietly looking down.

"People say things about me too." He sips his drink. "They say that I'm a short midget. They call me a princess or a ballerina and a broke zombie." He said looking at me. "But I ignore them cause I know I'm not those things except that fact that I'm a short person."

"I know I'm not a pig but I do know that I'm fat and heavy." I mumbled crossing my arms.

He sighed loudly, "You're not fat and you don't look heavy. You're just in shape."

"Then why are they calling me fat?!"

"I don't know." He shrugged. "Ask them that. They might be jealous of the perfect curves you have."

Curves? Where? My waist isn't even small!

"Curves?" I looked at him puzzled.

He licked his lips a little, "You know. You're hips and you're butt." He quietly said so that I won't hear but I heard him perfectly.

I looked at him surprised feeling a bit uncomfortable.

"Wha-" I started.

He interrupted, "Nevermind." He said shaking his head. "Let's talk about something else- uh-." He thought for a moment. "The homecoming dance is this Friday." He smiled.

I looked at him puzzled, "Next Friday?"

He nodded, "Yeah you didn't know?" He put some food in his mouth.

I shook my head, "No. I haven't seen signs up saying that."

He laughed a little, "Well you need some glasses because it's everywhere. It's so obvious."

"Well dang. I didn't notice." I widened my eyes.

"It's okay. It took me a while to notice too." He smiled.

"Some girl asked me to be her homecoming date." He started. "And I said no" he made a disgusted look on his face.

"Why?" I chuckled.

"Because she smells like fish. At least clean yourself before you ask anyone anything. I kinda wanted a pretty girl to ask me." He mumbled.

I laughed at him shaking my head.

He's so mean sometimes. Haha.
I don't know if I want to go or not. If somebody ask me, I'll go. I hope Michael does.

After we ate, Prince placed his guitar for me. He's really good I think he should be in a band. That'll be really cool. We went back to school 5 minutes before the bell rang and went to our classes.
