Chapter 1: First Day of High School
*BUZZ* *BUZZ** *BUZZ** *BUUZZZZ***
Ugh.
It's time to wake up?
Already?
I don't wanna get uppp!
I turned off my alarm on my iPhone on my nightstand and slammed my head back between the two warm pillows.
It's the first day of school... the first day of... high school. I am now a 9th grader, a stupid freshman. I've heard from many high schoolers, including my sister, Sabrina, that freshmen are always picked on by upper classes. Why? I don't know. They're probably jealous that freshmen are always thought of and welcomed into high school.
I am going to Cole High School, the high school known to be a really dramatic high school in history. Well, I don't know if that's true because I've heard it from a few people.
I hope this year is gonna be better than last year in 8th grade. 8th grade was just crazy and terrible. Boys and girls have been fighting over me to be my friend because I'm the daughter of my mother. My Mama used to be a model, but no that she have cancer, she's not a model anymore. People love her so much and thinks she's a huge inspiration. And if my mom's famous, that means me, my sister, my brothers and other family members of ours are famous too because she's a known model and she was beautiful and she still is.
Some people want to be our friend because we're a famous family and they want to be famous too. This is why I sometimes want to be home schooled. Im kinda happy that I'm not home schooled because I have some real friends. Friends that don't want to be my friend because I live with a famous mother. Friends that are there for me through thick and thin. They're Nia, Erica, Latoya and her sister Rebbie. Latoya also lives with her famous family, The Jacksons, and she only have a few friends like I do.
But Latoya is my best friend, we've been friends since we were in kindergarten. She has a brother named Michael, but I don't know if we're friends or not because he's always on tour because he's part of the Jackson 5.
*knock**knock*
I popped my head up and jumped out of bed then quickly ran to the door. I rubbed my eyes trying not to look really tired.
I opened the door and there's my mom dressed in her pink robe.
"Ariel, it's time for school. Hurry up you gonna be late for the bus." She said.
I let out a groan and rolled my eyes while pouting.
"Girl hush, hurry up, your breakfast is on the table downstairs. Imma need you to hurry up and eat and shower and leave." She said counting the things to do on her fingers as she talked.
"Okay mama." I said walking out and closing the door behind me.
"I can't believe my baby is a high schooler now!" She smiled brightly pinching my cheeks.
"Okay. Okay. Let me go." I said chuckling and pushing her hands away.
I walked downstairs and slowly walked in the dining room to see my sister Sabrina eating on the glass table.
Sabrina is a year and a half older than me, she's 15 1/2 and I'm still 14. Sabrina is a cool sister but sometimes we argue and fight.
"Good morning." She mumbled with food in her mouth.
"Good morning." I replied sitting on the chair across from her.
She look a little mad and tired from the way she's sitting. She's slouching in her chair, aggressively stabbing her fork into bacon and putting it to her mouth and whenever she's finished drinking from her cup, she'll kinda slam it on the table. As I was eating, I tried not to laugh because of the awkward silence and watching her aggressively eating her food like a wrestler. I cupped my hands above my eyes and sunk in my chair so I wouldn't see my angry sister eating.
She finally broke the silence by groaning and saying, "I can't wait till school is over!" She dropped her fork on her plate and pouted.
"Why? You haven't even went yet." I said.
She looked up and shook her head.
"I don't want to go, I'm already sick and tired of it. It's 6 o'clock in the damn morning! Ooh! I can't wait till I graduate! Things will be so much better!" She balled up her fists.
I looked outside and it's still dark.
Wow, I didn't realize that it's 6! I thought it was 8 o'clock! I guess I'm so used to waking up at 8 o'clock for school because of 8th grade. Now that we're in high school, we have to wake up really early cause school starts at 7:35.
I chuckled, "Well, you got two more years then you'll graduate." I told her.
"Two more years of drama and boys all over me!" She mumbled.
All the boys seem to LOVE Sabrina because she's so pretty and she's also a model like my mother and because we're famous of course. Some boys love me too but I'm pretty lucky that I don't have every boy in school falling for me.
There was this random dude last year who asked Sabrina to marry him with an expensive ring in front of EVERYBODY in the school. Everybody had their phones out recording them in one hallway. Of course Sabrina said no to him cause they were only in 9th grade and plus, she said that he was one of the most stupidest, and weirdest boy in this school. The videos that mostly everyone took, was all over social media and went viral. It was the most embarrassing thing that ever happened to her and I felt a little bad haha.
After we finished eating, we did our morning routine and hopped on the bus for the first day of school.
* * * * * * *
We arrived at the huge high school, which actually does not look like a high school at all, it looks like a castle!
My eyes widened as Sabrina and I walked into the glass doors of the high school amazed at how huge the inside of the school looks.
"Wow." Is all I can say.
The outside of the school looks like a huge castle while the inside looks so clean and open. My other school was so small with tiny hallways and the floors weren't as shiny and clean like this school!
This school has incredibly huge open hallways and fire, red lockers. The floor is printed with the mascot, a wild cat.
Omg this looks like High School Musical! Haha.
Sabrina walked off somewhere and left me hanging by myself.
Great!
Now how am I gonna know where to go?
I nervously start walking slowly through a random hallway in front of me tightly grasping my backpack. The hallway was filled with laughter and loud conversations with people on either side of the hallway by the lockers. I see a lot of unfamiliar faces around me and I feel kind of uncomfortable being here. I feel like a baby walking down the middle of the hallway because of how short I am compared to the other people.
There's about 3 couples in the corners kissing and making out which really made me cringe, there's a lot of tall boys horse playing and playing air basketball and there's a group of girls laughing and talking in front of the girls' restroom dressed like.... Strippers.
Maybe this is how high school looks like every morning... Hopefully not.
I widened my eyes and made a disgusted look at them.
I can't believe no one said anything about their nasty outfits.
My mom would've whooped my ass if she find me walking out the house lookin like that.
I couldn't help but stare at how slutty they look. The blonde girl, from the group girls, dressed in a tiny crop top and really short shorts looked at me and crossed her arms. She whispered something to her friends and they giggled silently probably laughing at me. I stood there not knowing what to do or where to go and felt my hands get a little sweaty as they just stared at me and giggled.
"Hey girl!" The blonde girl called out.
I turned my head pretending I didn't see them or hear that girl.
"Come here! I wanna ask you a question." I said.
Should I talk to her?
Nahh. She looks a little too disturbing.
"Girl in the blue shirt. Come here!" Her voice is loud and high pitched.
She sounds like a kid!
I slowly turned around and she motioned me to come over where she is.
I uncomfortably walked towards them as they quietly giggled again making me feel even more uncomfortable.
"What grade are you in?" She asked loudly chewing her gum.
"Uh- I-I'm in 9th grade." I said nervously. They all laughed at me.
I felt my cheeks burning and my legs shaking as they were laughing and felt terribly uncomfortable.
"Ooh a freshmaan! A little kid. Aww." One girl said.
"Uh I gotta go." I rolled my eyes and turned around. I felt a light touch on my shoulder.
"Wait, we wanna talk to you." The blonde girl turned me around and smiled. I gently pushed her arm off my shoulder and made a disgusted face.
"My name is Ashley and these are my friends. What's your name?" The blonde girl said.
"My name is Ariel and you don't have the right to touch me on my shoulder, you don't know me." I mumbled.
They gasped and covered their mouths.
"Woah hold up. No need to be a meany. Let's know each other." She said and smiled.
"Alright." I rolled my eyes and leaned on one hip.
"Well, we are seniors and I'm wondering if you would want to be like us. We're totally flawless and we're models." Ashley said.
Flawless?
Models?
They don't look like models, they look like drunk strippers.
Their eyelashes are fake, their nails look ghetto and so does their makeup, and one of them have hairy legs and they call themselves flawless?!
"I'm not interested in looking like bunch of sluts, sorry." I turned back around.
"Sluts? We're not sluts!" She slapped her hand on my shoulder and turned me around.
I pushed her hand off my shoulder again but harder this time.
"Okay look! I'm gonna have you to leave me alone!" I shouted.
"We just wanna ask you a question! Please!" She begged while I walked away.
Weirdos.
I can't believe they want me to be like them. I don't wanna dress like a slut.
I quickly walked down the hallway not knowing where I'm going until I accidentally bumped into someone while turning the corner.
"Woah, im sorr-" I looked up and saw a familiar face. It's Nia! Omg one of my best friends! We both gasped and hugged each other.
I haven't seen her since the last day of school.
"Omg I haven't seen you in forever!" She said giving me a bear hug.
"Why haven't you phone me or hung out with me all summer!" I said still hugging her.
"Haha I told you, I had to stay in Florida to visit my family." She pulled away. "And I got my phone stolen there so I couldn't text or call you." She said.
"Haha, when are you getting a new phone?" I asked.
"I already have my new phone." She pulled out her iPhone 5 covered in a cute pink sparkly case.
"Well, why haven't you texted me when you got the phone?" I giggled.
"Girl I just got this yesterday."
"Haha, well nice to meet you after a long summer." I hugged her again. "I missed you so much."
"Haha, I missed you too." We pulled back.
"Hey, do you have your schedule?" She asked.
"No, I don't even know where to get my schedule." I shrugged. She giggled and grabbed my arm.
"Come on, we're going to the office to get your schedule." She said walking.
I followed her down the endless hallways into where I first came in. The front of the school is probably my favorite because it's to open, wide, and very pretty. People are still on the sides of the hallway having conversations with their friends, couples making out and a lot people walking in and out of the building.
We walked into the glass doors of the office and my eyes widened again at how huge the office is and decorated. I felt a gentle tap on my shoulder, I turned around and it's Latoya.
"Omg hey Latoya!" I hugged her.
"Hey, I saw you on the bus this morning." She said while hugging me.
"You did? I didn't see you." I pulled back and raised and eyebrow.
"Well, I was calling your name but it seems like you didn't hear me cause I was at the back." She giggled.
"I'm sorry, I had earphones in." I laughed.
"Are you getting your schedule too?" Nia asked Latoya.
"Yeah, are you?" Latoya asked.
"I already have mine haha." She said holding up her schedule. "I'm helping Ariel get hers." She said.
A lady with high heels and really pretty office dress walked over to us. Her white teeth brightened at us and her brown eyes sparkled as she walked.
"Do you girls need help?" She asked.
"Yeah, me and Ariel need our schedules." Latoya said nicely.
"Follow me." She said motioning us to follow her.
We followed her into her personal office. Her office was painted pink and filled with pictures of her on the wall. Her room smells like lemons and apples which made my nose tickle a bit. It smells good but bad in here. The lemon smell is so sour and the apple smell is so warm and smells delicious.
I glanced at her name tag on her desk and it says "Councilor: Ms. Tweet"
Weirdest name ever!
By reading her tag, I can tell that she's obviously a counselor.
"Okay, what's your first and last name young lady?" She asked me sitting in her white chair.
"Ariel Bleu." I told her.
She start typing in her white Mac laptop quickly for a moment as we all stood there awkwardly waiting for her to finish.
"And what's your name ma'm?" She asked Latoya.
"Latoya Jackson." Latoya smiled.
Ms. Tweet looked up from her laptop and brightly smiled.
"Wow, we got some celebrities here do we? Ariel Bleu and Latoya Jackson." She giggled.
We all giggled with her as she was typing in her laptop.
"Ariel, your mom is so beautiful is she doing okay with cancer?" Ms Tweet told me.
I smiled and nodded, "She's doing fine." I chuckled a little.
"Ooh good to hear." She said typing. "And Latoya, your brothers are so talented, my daughters love them so much." She said typing.
"Thanks." We said in unison and giggled.
Her pink printer behind her turned on and start making a lot of noise. She grabbed two papers out if the printer and handed us our schedules.
"There's your schedules, and if you need help finding a class you can ask help from me or the teachers around." She nicely said.
"Thank you." Latoya and I said in unison.
"I can help them since I'm a 10 grader and I know everything in this school. Haha." Nia said.
"Well, okay you do that then." Ms. Tweet smiled at her. "Oh, and by the way, my name is Ms. Tweet and I'm the counselor. You can come to me if you're having trouble with this school or wanting to switch classes." She said shaking me and Latoya's hand.
"Okay, thanks for your help." Latoya said nicely as we walked out of the door.
We walked out of the office and into the huge open hallway full of loud students.
"Lemme see y'all's schedule." Nia said taking our papers.
She looked up and smiled after scanning through our classes.
"Yay, we all have the same class together first period!" She said smiling brightly.
"And where is that?" Latoya asked taking her paper back.
"Gym!" Nia said proudly.
Really?
Gym for the first period?
Ugh.
"Alright let's go." Latoya said still staring at her paper.
We followed Nia down the almost- crowded hallways discussing class periods and school. Latoya and I almost have the same classes together except for 2nd and 3rd period. Nia and I only have 3 classes together, 1st, 2nd and 4th. I'm glad that we have classes together, I thought we wouldn't have classes together at all.
* * * * * * *
The loud bell just rang and that means gym class had started. Everyone was scattered on their spots on the floor the gym teacher gave them. I sit right behind Latoya and Nia sits at the other side of the gym.
As I was looking around, I found my enemy and her friends, Kaitlyn and her two friends Tracy and Justice grouped up together laughing and talking to each other.
I can't stand those girls.
They're so annoying and rude.
It's mostly Kaitlin doing the most. She's always picking on me and my friends and the others are her little backup like if they're in a movie or something.
She's been messing with Nia, Latoya and I since freakin elementary. She's so dramatic and she think she's all that and a bag of chips. I honestly think that she's not all that and with a bag of shit!
She's horrible and she's always with boys. Always! Kaitlyn and her friends are one of the most popular girls in school, not in a good way, but in the bad way. A lot of people don't like them because they're so slutty and mean. Kaitlyn picked on this one guy with disabilities until he gave up and killed himself 3 years ago. I'm still surprised she wasn't arrested for that and still angry and sad for what she had done to that dude. And that's probably how people started to hate her after that.
"Who wants to sign up for cheer?! Raise your hand!" The coach yelled holding a big stack of papers in her hand.
A lot of girls shot their hands up after they heard the coach.
I looked at Latoya, she had her hand raised. I can't really see her as a cheerleader. I didn't know she was interested in being in cheer. She looks more like a volleyball player.
"Latoya? You want to be a cheerleader?!" I asked loudly over the people talking so she can hear me.
"Yup! You should be in cheer too." She smiled.
I looked back at Kaitlyn and her friends and they were holding their hands up too.
No way! I don't wanna be in cheer with them!
"No, I don't wanna be in cheer." I told her.
Latoya scooted closer to me and raised my hand up.
"Latoya no! I don't wanna be in cheer." I fussed putting my hand down.
"Why not? It's fun!" She smiled.
"Because Kaitlyn want to tryout and I don't wanna deal with her during tryouts." I told her.
"See! She's raising her hand!" I pointed at Kaitlyn.
"So? She's probably not gonna make the team anyway. Raise your hand!" She demanded.
"Fine, but if I make the team and her friends do too, I'm leavin the team." I said raising my hand.
The coach handed me and Latoya the paper. It says "Cheer Tryouts- Wednesday September 3rd After school in gym!" with bold letters and cheer decorations on it.
"Omg, I can't wait!" Latoya said as her eyes brightened.
* * * * * *
The rest of the class, we did some exercises and stretches and played basketball. After that class, I went to 2nd period which was Algebra. I freaking hate algebra. Too many numbers! But the good thing is that we didn't really do anything in that class since it's the first day of school...
