Permission to go to camp

Time jump

I had been at the hospital for over six months. Charity hadn't kept her promise. She never came to visit me. Daddy had tried to visit but was told that due to my current mental condition I was no longer allowed visitor. I sighed no one cared about me. No one except Michael and Freddy. At least I could visit Freddy in my dreams.

"Perhaps it would be in Catherine's best interests to be sent to a summer camp." One of the doctor's suggested one day.

"I'm not sure that's such a good idea." The doctor in charge of the ward replied.

"Why not? It's been proven that Catherine isn't a threat to herself or to others. Her childish behavior when stressed is harmless. We can't legally keep her here any longer.  We've proven that the charges against her were false."

"She should deserve a chance to be a normal teenager. We could send her to the camp that my younger sister is working at for the summer camp Crystal lake or something"

"That doesn't sound like its around here." The Doctor replied with a frown.

"It's not, it's located in New Jersey." The nurse replied.

"Are you telling me that you want to send one of our wards to a camp in another state?" The head doctor demanded somewhat shocked.

"It's not like she hasn't been in another state before." The nurse replied shrugging her shoulders.

"Absolutely not! She is not leaving this facility and that's the end of it!" The doctor replied.

"Perhaps we should leave that decision up to her legal guardian." The nurse replied.

"She doesn't have one." The doctor replied barely looking up from his paperwork.

"I was under the impression that her foster father is the Chief of police. I'm fairly sure he won't mind."

"Fine you can contact him. Not that I'm sure it will do any good. He never comes to see her and her sister hardly ever visits either." The doctor replied.

"That's because they were told she wasn't allowed visitors. It's worth a try." The nurse replied as she headed for the nearest phone. "Is this the Seaweather residence?"

"Who is asking?" Came the voice of a young women.

"This is Nurse Maria from Westin Hospital is Mr. Seaweather home?"

"Please hold. Daddy, there's a nurse on the phone from the Hospital." Charity called.

"Why are they calling our house? I'm not donating to them if that's why they are calling. I don't donate over the phone." My previous foster father replied.

"My father told me to tell you we never donate over the phone." Charity replied.

"Oh my no, we'd never ask for money donations over the phone. I'm calling concerning his daughter Catherine." Maria replied.

"Dad they are calling about Catherine." Charity replied.

"Why are they contacting me? I'm not her legal guardian anymore. I haven't been her guardian since the day the two of you ran away to live with that Witch and her millionaire husband."

"I'm sorry dad that was my idea. I was worried that the next time you were drunk you might wind up killing Catherine. You almost beat her to death the last time."

My foster father sighed once more. "Yes, I know. I am ashamed of my behavior. I should have never treated her the way I did. I never should have blamed her for what happened."

"The truth is, that your mother never was happy in our marriage. She used Catherine as an excuse to have an affair and when I called her out on her actions she left us."

"That's not what she told us." Charity replied with a frown.

"What exactly did that lying cheating witch of a woman tell you? Hold that thought we can discuss that at a later time. Let me take this call and see what's going on. I hope Catherine is all right."

"Hello, is this Mr. Seaweather?"

"Yes. You said you are calling concerning Catherine what is wrong? I thought she was getting better?" Charity's father asked in concern.

"She's is improving at an impressive rate however, we seemed to have hit a bit of a wall when it comes to her therapy. You see, I think it would be in Catherine's best interest to be sent to a summer camp in located in New Jersey. This would give her a chance to interact with people her own age and would most likely prove that she is mentally capable of being released.

"Does she want to go?"

"She seemed very excited by the idea but then the Doctor said that we should just forget it. That you'd never allow her to be sent to camp especially a camp out of the state."

"If Catherine wants to attend camp then I see no reason why she shouldn't be allowed too."

"I couldn't afford to send her to camp when she was younger. I want to do anything I can to make up for the horrible childhood she had. All I want is for her to be happy. When you see her please tell her that I am so sorry for everything I put her through."

"Thank you. Catherine will be so excited when I give her the news. I will pass on your message."

"Thank you." With that my foster father hung up.

"Catherine great news! Your foster father said that you could go to camp. He also wanted me to pass on the message that he is sorry. He's sorry for everything. He only hopes that someday you will be able to find it in your heart to forgive him for everything he put you through."

"Mary may I have a word with you outside?" The head Nurse said with a frown.

"Yes ma'am."

"I don't appreciate you informing our patient about that phone call. You've made the situation more complicated than it needed to be. How do you expect me to tell her that is no longer an option after you just told her the opposite?" The head Nurse demanded angrily.

"I spoke with her foster father and He informed me that Catherine is to be allowed to go to camp if she desires too."

"Now you can tell her that she isn't allowed to go."

"Why?"

"Because she's a patient in our hospital. We can't allow her to leave the facility un attended." The doctor replied.

"Look, we have parental permission to send Catherine to camp. You can't just take that away from her."

"Yes, I can. Wether you like it or not, I am in charge at the facility and I make all decisions concerning patients. She is not leaving this facility." The doctor replied.

Mary frowned "as you wish Boss. If you'll excuse me I have a phone call to make." With that, Mary turned and left without waiting for the doctor's permission.

The doctor then proceeded to go into my room. "Catherine I have just been informed that a nurse told you that you would be able to go to camp."

"Unfortunately, she had no authority to make that decision. I hate to be the bad guy here, but I'm afraid that I simply can't allow you to leave this facility."

"Why not? Have I done something wrong?" I asked tearfully.

"No of course not Catherine. Please don't see this as some sort of punishment. Believe me, I want what's best for you. It just wouldn't be a good idea for you to go to a camp so far away. What if you were to have a relapse?"

"I am fine." I replied with a frown.

"I'm afraid I just can't take that chance. Besides you'd miss your friends wouldn't you?"

"I don't have any friends." I replied quietly.

"Exactly. If you can't make friends here, you'd most likely never make any friends at a summer camp. I am sorry. You have to understand I have to do what's best for you. Your leaving this facility at this point in time is just not possible."

Meanwhile, the nurse decided to contact my father once more. "Hello?"

"Mr. Seaweather, this is Maria from the hospital I am so sorry to have to bother you again."

My foster father sighed "what seems to be the problem now?"

"The doctor has decided that Catherine's not allowed to go to camp I was hoping that as her legal guardian you could influence her decision."

"How dare she deny Catherine the right to go to camp! I don't know who this nurse thinks she is but if she thinks she can get away with breaking Catherine's heart she has another thing coming!"

"Tell your boss that I will be contacting the owner of that facility and requesting her immediate termination. Unless of course, she changes her mind."

"She won't. She has made her position clear. She has no intention of allowing Catherine to go to a camp. The truth is, despite Catherine being in perfect health both mentally and physically our Doctor has made her a permanent resident." The nurse replied with a sigh.

"Why?"

"Because she's famous. The doctor likes the idea that she's the one helping Michael Myers little sister to recover from her mental issues. Then she can say that she will do what others said was impossible. She can cure a Myers."
