Charity's nightmares begin
After a few minutes I decided that I wasn't going to wait for Freddy to come back. Suddenly a girl came limping past me her leg bleeding looking behind her shoulder as if something or rather someone, was chasing her. "Someone please wake me up! I wanna wake up!" She screamed and I looked at her sympathetically.
I closed my eyes and focused "I don't know who you is owa how you wound up in this dweam but you've got to wake up. Whoeba you is wake up NOW!" With that I used my full force to push her out of the dream.
I was startled as I felt a hand on my shoulder and I whirled around to to see Freddy frowning his eyes blazing red. As he waved his hand in tisk tisk motion.. such a naughty naughty little kitten. I'm afraid I'm going to have to punish you. You brought this on yourself kitten.
"It's not to steal from other people. Perhaps I should teach you to the consequences of stealing from me. It's a lesson that you won't forget." Freddy said using his gloved hand to force me to look him in the eyes.
"Please don't." I whispered/ whimpered my mind going back to that of a toddler once more. Freddy flashed me a creepy smile.
"Give me one good reason why not?"
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean too upset you." I replied with a whimper.
"I'm afraid just saying that your sorry isn't good enough this time. You need to be punished for your bad behavior or you'll do it again." However, before Freddy could carry out his threat, I was awoken by a tapping on my bedroom door.
"Catherine are you awake?" I heard Charity call to me.
"I am now." I grumbled glancing over at the clock which read midnight. Groaning I got up from bed and opened my door slightly. "Why are you up at this time of night?" I asked as I yawned.
"I'm sorry if I woke you up. I was just wondering if you'd do me a favor." Charity asked me peeking her head into my room.
"What do you want me to do?" I asked in irritation.
"I can't sleep. I've been having really terrifying nightmares. Can I stay with you for the rest of the night?" She asked.
"Why not. It's not like I wanted to get a good nights sleep." I replied sarcastically.
"Thanks Cathrine. I owe you one." Charity replied with a sign of relief.
"You don't get it do you? I wasn't being serious about not needing sleep. I replied with a sigh. "Give me one good weason why I should help you."
"Please Catherine, I'll do anything, just please let me stay with you for the rest of the night. Help me make sure that I don't fall asleep. I'm afraid Catherine, I am really afraid. I don't want die. They say that if he kills you in your dreams then you die in real life." Charity whispered.
"He who?" I replied already sure I knew who she was talking about. After all, I had just finished dreaming about him myself.
"He says his name is Freddy. He has burns all over his face. He has on a dirty red and green stripes sweater and a brown fedora and he has a glove on his hand with razors. Then their are these little girls wearing white dresses they are jump roping and they sing this terrible rhyme."
"1-2 Freddy's coming for you. 3-4 better lock your door. 5-6 grab a crucifix. 7-8 better stay up late. 9-10 you'll never sleep again." Charity shivered. "I don't know where else to turn. Dad refuses to believe me. He says that it's just a bad dream and it will go away in time, but he is wrong, Freddy is real."
"I know."
"You do? You mean you believe me?" Charity asked surprised.
"Yes. I've dreamed about him too. He seems to want me to remember something but I don't know what. Can I ask you a question? Why do you hate me so much?"
"Because we were the perfect family until you had to come along and mess everything up. You always bring disaster wherever you go. You weren't wanted and you certainly weren't needed. I don't understand why my mom and dad chose to add you to our family. They are my parents not yours. So yeah, I hate you. When you came into our lives you ruined everything."
"If that's the way you feel then why do you want my help?" I replied with a frown.
"I don't, but what choice do I have? I don't have any other option. No one else believes me. If I want to survive, I have to hope you don't screw this one thing up. Come to think of it I'm not sure I can trust you. You'll probably do something stupid like fall asleep yourself." Charity replied.
"If that's the way you feel then fine. You can deal with this nightmare monster on your own. I'm going back to bed. Goodnight Charity and sweet dreams." I replied with a mocking smile.'
"Wait. I never should have said that, I'm sorry."
"We both know your not sorry for anything you said. Don't deny it."
"Your right. I'm not sorry for what I said and I don't need your help, I'll figure out how to defeat this monster by myself." With that Charity shoved me out of her room and into the hallway and closed her door.
I sighed. I was tired but I knew that if I fell asleep I'd have to face him again and I just wasn't ready do to that. I hoped that Charity would be able to have a goodnights sleep and not dream of him either but unfortunately, that wasn't the case.
"Welcome to my world witch."
"This is just a dream. Your not real your just a dream." Charity replied shutting her eyes.
"Oh I'm real Sweetheart. Wanna play?"
"What are you going to do to me?" Charity asked Freddy tearfully as he grabbed ahold of her from behind. Causing her to start screaming making Freddy laugh with delight.
"What are you screaming for? I haven't even cut you yet."
"Please don't kill me. Please I'll do anything, anything you want." Charity pleaded.
"Too bad a Witch like you can't be trusted." Freddy replied raising his glove in the air to slash her. "Besides, I'm hungry. I need another soul consume so I can be strong enough to return to your world for good."
"Wait, what if I were to give you someone else? Would you spare my life?" Charity asked.
"Interesting bargain. But who would be willing to take your place? Huh?" Freddy asked with an evil smile. Already knowing who she had in mind.
"My sister Catherine. She has always been willing to do anything for me. She will winglet take my place. I know that she will."
Freddy took a deep breath as if breathing in my name. "Catherine? She sounds delicious. Bring her to me and I'll consider letting you go." Freddy replied his eyes sparkling with delight.
"How am I supposed to bring her to you??"
"That isn't my problem. You offered her to me now you have to find a way to deliver your promise. You have one hour I suggest you make the best of it." Freddy replied before disappearing.
"What have I done?" Charity moaned more worried that she might not be able to keep her end of the bargain. "How am I supposed to deliver Catherine to him? It's not like I can dream her here."
"You could try drawing her." A little girl in a white dress replied appearing out of nowhere. With that she leaned down and started drawing. "See it's easy." Suddenly the house that she had drawn appeared before them. "Here you can use my chalk if you want."
"How did you do that?" The little girl shrugged her shoulders.
"I've got to go now, Freddy's home." The little girl replied getting onto a red tricycle disappearing into a house that looked just like the one she had drawn.
"Wait little girl, don't go in there." Charity called to her but it was too late the little girl was gone as was her drawing. The only thing that remained that told Charity that the little girl hadn't been a figment of her imagination was a small piece of chalk in her hand. "Hum draw her in huh? That's not a bad idea."
I soon found myself standing next Charity. "What's going on? How did I get here? Where am I?" I asked with a slight frown.
"I drew you into my dream."'Charity replied pointing towards the picture on the ground.
"Why?"
"He said that I could exchange my soul for someone else's."
"Charity, what have you done?"
"I'm truly sorry Catherine, I wish it didn't have to be this way. I really do, but it is survival of the fittest. He gave me an ultimatum, either I find him a replacement meal or he'd kill me. It was an offer that I just couldn't pass up."
"I offered you in exchange and he accepted my proposal. You always say that you'd do anything for me. That if I ever needed you for anything that all I have to do is ask. I always wanted to ask you, would you die for me?" Charity asks shoving me forward before turning and running down the corridor.
"Some sister she is huh? Offering your life in exchange for her own. Not that it matters, she's going to die anyways. I'll be right back kitten." He said with a wink and a sinister chuckle before turning and disappearing down the corridor after Charity.
"Wait. Come back." I called into the darkness but it was too late he was already gone. I slumped to the floor tears splashing onto the steamy floor.
Suddenly two floating flaming skulls appeared before me. "My Dear sweet child, why are you crying?"
"He's going to kill Charity. He promised that he wouldn't kill her if she gave him someone to take her place."
"Yes, but he doesn't like that she offered your soul in exchange for hers." The Demons replied.
"I don't understand. Why should he care?"
"You still don't remember who he is do you?" One of the dream demons asked amused. I shook my head.
"Who is he? What does he want?"
"That dear child is a long story. One I'm afraid, we don't have time to tell you. Especially, if your going to save your sister in time."
"How can I save Charity? I'm just a nobody. I'm not strong enough to defeat him. He'll just wind up killing the both of us. Besides, I don't know how to find them in this place."
"That's simple they are right there." The dream demons replied a second later I could see Charity through the steam backing away from
Freddy.
"Wait! You gave me your word that you'd let me go if I brought her to you. I kept my end of the deal. You can't do this." Charity replied.
"This is my world Witch! I can do whatever I please. Besides, I never promised that I'd let you live. I said that I'd think about it. I can't very well pass up a meal that walks so willingly into my domain, but don't worry I'll save room for your sister. She'll be my dessert." Freddy replied with an evil smile.
"I've got to stop him but how? I'm not strong enough..."
"How about we make a bargain? If you can survive a week in the employment of one of our most powerful members of our community we will ensure Freddy releases your sister immediately. In fact, we will ensure that he doesn't lay a hand on her. Do we have a bargain?"
"I don't know.... I..."
"You'd better make your choice, we are very busy and we don't have all night and neither does she. So what will it be child? Your sister's soul or a week serving one of our most powerful members of our community?" The dream demons hissed.
I lowered my eyes to the floor before quietly replying "I promise I will do whatever you want. Just save her life."
"So be it." The dream Demons replied.
"We had a deal! Her soul is mine to claim." Freddy growled in frustration.
"What makes you think you can tell them what to do? They gave you your powers, they can easily take them away." I replied.
"Well said child. As for you Freddy, a deal is a deal however, this child has willingly made a bargain for the life of that girl and we always honor our bargains." With that Charity disappeared before Freddy had a chance to kill her. As did the dream demons.
"That's two meals you've cost me today kitten. I'm afraid I'm going to have to punish you for being so very naughty. It's not nice to mess with other people's things. Especially other people's food."
Charity smiled as she heard the sounds of me dreaming in the other room. She knew I was dreaming about the same evil man who had haunted her dreams. She didn't know how or why but she had woken up nor did she care. All she knew was that I was in her place. For a moment she looked concerned. "Should I wake her? No. Better her then me." She replied returning to her room for a goodnights sleep.
