The Maestro (requested) 2
Few weeks ago, Maestro's POV
There she is again.
Seeing her go to that old pub brakes my heart... a beautiful girl like her shouldn't even breath the air around the pub.
And I shouldn't be following and spying on her but I just couldn't help it. The first time I accidentally saw her, I was left bewitched by her beauty! There was something inside her that made me so attracted to her - the radiant face was glowing like the sun, her long wavy hair was being blown by the wind like a feather and there was some kind of power coming from inside of her. I couldn't explain this power though, but it attracted me like a magnet. Her fragility made me want to protect and take care of her all the time.
She was so different from the other people in this village. However, I felt terrible for following her around and did want to talk to her but since I've spent an eternity alone, isolated from people, in my tower, I felt I've forgotten how to talk... and the last thing I wanted was, to scare her away.
I wondered sometimes, what would she think if she found out I was spying on her? Would she be scared? Would she think me weird? I've spent restless nights thinking about this I even felt guilty but couldn't stop and was glad I didn't.
One night I decided to go down town to see her face. She was going home from work when I noticed that brat, the mayor, was following her. I didn't like this at all nor the look on his face. I could almost read his ugly soul and the nasty thoughts inside his head. His eyes sparkled with lust when he begun running after her and the poor girl's heart was beating so fast inside the little chest, I could tell she was scared to death.
I was sure he was about to do something bad to her so I made sure I didn't took my eyes off of her. I didn't want her to see me though but if this bastard was to put his hands on her, I was going to appear without hesitation!
And I did when I saw him grab and push her on the ground. I don't know why but it caused my blood to boil inside my veins! She was no one to me but seeing someone hurt her drove me insane.
When I saved her, I was afraid she was going to think I'm some kind of weirdo but now I am so glad I did since she's been living here with me ever since.
I've forgotten what it felt like to be in the company of such a fine lady, not to mention I've recently realized that I have fallen in love with her.
And yes I knew I couldn't have her because I was no human but at least my eyes got to enjoy her beauty and my ears, that were accustomed to silence, got to hear her melodic, sweet voice every day.
This was all I could receive from her. Of course, she didn't know about my feelings, nor she knew about my true self for I've been working so hard the last month to keep it a secret from her. I didn't like lying about it but I was afraid that if she knew the truth about me, she'd run away without even listening to my explanations first. But even if she did listen, a girl couldn't love a ghost... this love was impossible. I was cursed to remain like this forever, alone and lonely in this tower, isolated from people, not knowing what happiness and love is.
She was here now, indeed, but the day she would say she wants to leave my house, will soon arrive. I was certain of this.
I was not afraid of being alone again for I've been alone my entire life... what bothered me was that I was going to have to live with broken heart, away from her.
"Michael.." we were sitting by the fire after she had dinner "can I ask you something?"
"Of course." the light of the fire was bringing the beauty of her face out in the most fascinating to me fashion so I couldn't keep my eyes off of her.
"Why haven't I seen you in the village before?" her question made me shiver, although I knew she would ask me that someday but I've never thought about what should I answer.
"Well, to be honest..." I did my best to tell a good lie "I have this illness that keeps me from going out in the sun because it damages my skin..."
"Oh I'm so sorry to hear this..." she put her little hand on mine to express her support. In this moment, I was so happy I told that lie...
"Besides, I'm not exactly very friendly with the mayor..."
"I'm sorry to ask but... why?"
"It's a long story... but he believes I'm the one who murdered his daughter."
"What really?"
"Yes." she remained silent but I could read in her eyes that she wanted to know but didn't dare ask me "His daughter fell in love with me..." her eyes got big in amazement.
"Did you also love her?" she immediately asked me.
"No, I didn't. One night I was out in the forest, picking fresh flowers, when I saw her laying in the grass with injured leg. I picked her up and brought her to her father, the mayor. He believed that I was the one who hurt which wasn't true. However, after that night, she begun coming to my house every night. The mayor didn't like this and I respected his opinion so I told her to stop coming because we couldn't make a couple. Little did I know that she was going to jump in the river..."
"Oh Lord...."
"That's what I said too..."
"And that's why the mayor hates you?"
"Yeah... We're also very... different and he doesn't like different. It's hard to explain. He just hates me."
"I understand. Me and him are different too."
"I know." next thing I knew, I was smiling at her, so did she too. "Besides, I don't feel well in the village."
"Me neither. I feel better here."
"Really?"
"Yes. Sometimes I wish I could stay forever!"
"Then do it." I said without hesitation.
"Really Michael? Are you serious?"
"Yes, I am." she smiled, and looked down with red cheeks. I felt embarrassed and happy at the same time because she said she wanted to stay here with me. I know that wasn't because she loved me but because she felt save with me since I saved her from him.
"Oh look at the time... I should be going to bed now." she said and we got up.
Divya's POV
"Good night, Michael and thank you for everything."
"Good night, Divya and no need to thank me." he gave me a warm smile and left. He escorted me to my room.
Michael was such a gentleman and a very handsome too. All the rumors about him being ghost were so untrue. It made me wonder how could he remain single?
He's been taking such a good care of me for the past month. I was so grateful he took me in to help me when I most needed help in my life. He also gave me emotional support and his friendship but there was one tiny problem... I've fallen in love with him.
I've fallen so deeply in love with him that I couldn't spent even a day without hearing his soft voice or seeing his perfect face. Being in his presence made me feel complete and if I could, I'd really stay here with him forever. I just hoped, he was sincere when he told me I could stay as long as I wanted...
He became everything to me. He made my life worth living and there's nothing else I'd like to do except be his servant.
However, I didn't know if he felt the same way about me... I doubt it.
Michael's POV
I left my sleeping Divya inside the house and went out in the gardens to pick fresh flowers when I felt the mayor's presence near me. After a few minutes, he appeared at my door.
"MAESTROOO!" he was calling me and as much as I didn't want to speak to him, I had to.
"What do you want?"
"You got something that's mine."
"You're mistaken. I don't have anything that's yours."
"You do and you know that very well. I've come for Divya and-" I cut him off.
"You'll never have her! Leave her alone! Now she's here with me and she doesn't want you anyway!"
"Ohhh... look what do we have here... Could it be that Maestro's fallen in love with the girl?" was it this obvious that I loved her? "Hahahahahaha! I can't believe this!" he was laughing out loud "If you think she'll love you back, you're crazy Maestro! She'll never love someone like you.. What can you give her?? Nothing! HAhahahaha!" I knew that very well but hearing it made me angry.
"LEAVE MY HOOOOUUUSE!" I yelled as loud as I could to create a wind from my lungs that blew him away from the gates.
"AHHHHHHHH!" he was screaming which meant I succeeded in getting rid of him. His mouth was big but when it came to actions, he became a pussy. I saw him run away like a scared chicken. Finally, he left.
Now I could return to doing my most favorite thing in the world - observe Divya as she slept.
Author's POV
The mayor, filled with anger and desire for revenge, run straight into the village's pub for he had a plan.
"Dear people!" he slammed the door open, causing everyone's attention on him "The Maestro has taken another girl!"
"What?!"
"This time it's Divya!" when he killed somebody, he'd always say it was the Maestro that did it. This assured his clean name and the villagers' hatred towards Maestro.
"Oh no!" voices were heard saying this. The mayor knew this was the right moment to awaken their hatred.
"We gotta do something about it good people! We can't leave things like this again! Today it's poor Divya and tomorrow might be your daughters or sons! We have to stop this! We don't want to live with a murdered, am I right?"
"YEAH!" they all said together.
