Memories With Me (Jordan x F! Reader)

A/N Ok so if you aren't the greatest with someone talking about divorce (like the fighting part and stuff) then just skip one of the labeled parts that will have ••••• at the beginning and end of it. I am no expert in this I am only going off what I've heard from friends and stereotypical things.

It all started that day.
The day you were there
Sitting by yourself,
Under the hot heat of the sun.
We were kids at the time.
Not much to know,
But our eyes met
And I had to go.

I looked over to the giant playground that lies ahead of me. Kids just like me! They all came over here to play too! Maybe I can make a friend. Mommy would love that. Hmm... maybe I can play in the sandbox. I ran over to the sandbox. No toys were left behind, so I used my hands as best as I can. Mommy looked over and smiled at me. I'm so happy she likes it!

The sandbox got boring really quickly. I saw lots of slides and stairs and monkey bars. I want to try the monkey bars one day, but I'm too small. I fall every time. Maybe I can go slide! That sounds fun. I took the long climb up to the top of the tallest slide. It's super twirly. I noticed a boy sitting alone at the swings. He looked up at me. He looks nice! Maybe I should talk to him.

I slide down the slides and run towards the boy. "Hi! My name is Y/N! What's yours?" The boy smiled.

"I'm Jordan. Want to be friends?" I nodded happily. We sat on the swings and swung for a while. It turns out he likes Mickey Mouse and the playground just like me! He's also 4! Mommy walked over and told me it was time to go home. I waved goodbye to Jordan. I hope I can see him again!

As I thought, we met again.
This time somewhere else.
A place of adventure.
A place of people.
People who were mean and judged
But you didn't.
You stayed at my side
My superhero in a time of need.

"Ewww! Y/N has cooties!" I heard Ashlee shout as I walked on the playground. It was the first week of kindergarten. I was so happy to see Jordan again. We've seen each other at the park a few times too.

I shouted in defense, "No I don't! Jordan's just my friend!" She started skipping circles around me chanting the same phrase over and over. Two of her friends, Camille and Agnes, joined her. I burst into tears and ran away under a slide. Jordan saw me crying and ran over.

"Y/N what's wrong?" he asked.

"Ashlee said I had cooties because I'm friends with you. Is it true, Jordan?"

"Of course not! She's just a meanie. I'll go talk to her." Jordan walked behind Ashlee and touched her arm. "Look who has cooties now!" he shouted and ran. Ashlee screamed and tried to 'wipe her arm off.' "Don't be mean to Y/N! She's my friend, and I'm fine with that." I smiled from behind the slide. Both Ashlee and Jordan ended up getting in trouble, but Jordan did for a good reason.

Years past by as we grew
Growing in age, maturity, and knowledge.
People changed, things changed.

•••••••••••

I saw Jordan skateboarding towards my house in tears. I was outside getting mail for my mom. He turned in our driveway. His eyes were puffy and he looks like he was crying a lot.

"D-Do you mind i-if i stay here for t-today. I can't s-stay home for n-now," Jordan stuttered. I nodded and brought him inside. My mom was making spaghetti and meatballs in the kitchen. She looked over and saw tired and red eyed Jordan walking in.

"Oh my! Jordan, what happened sweetie?" He let out a sob. "Never mind. How about I let your mom know you are safe here and if you want you can stay with us until you feel like you can go home." Jordan nodded. Mom looked at him one more time and sighed before returning to eating.

I brought Jordan downstairs to the game room. I let him sit back down on  the couch and I sit next to him. I give him a minute to calm down then ask, "Jordan, do you mind me asking what happened."

"Well, I was sitting in my room doing Mrs. Reed's homework, the 'world's greatest 7th grade science teacher.'" He let out a little laugh. It's true though. She gives out way to much homework. "And then suddenly I heard shouting and a cabinet slamming. You know they have been arguing for a while. But this time it was different. I tried to ignore it. I snuck out to see what was happening. They kept saying things to each other and saying how much they regret being together. And then I saw my mom get a vase thrown at her. I felt so bad. Her face was cut up and she looked so angry and hurt. They both did. Then they turned to where I was and saw me. I was crying and ran out the door with my skateboard outside that I forgot. I rode all the way here, but it only took 5 minutes."

I looked at Jordan again. Tears were streaming down his face and he looks so hurt. He broke down crying again and I hugged him. I feel so bad for him. Jordan is my best friend and he never cries, ever. "I know. I'm pathetic right now. I'm a guy. Guys don't cry. I'm supposed to be all tough and cool and stuff, but I can't help it. It hurts to see them like that." I let him cry in my shoulder.

"It's going to be okay soon Jordan. I can't say how it will turn out for you parents, but don't worry about that now. How about you stay here for now until this all gets worked out. You are a part of our family, too."

"Thanks so much Y/N. If I told anyone else they probably would had laughed and said to 'Oh toughen up Jordan! It's probably nothing'. But you have no idea how hard it is seeing people who you thought loved each other fight. I'm not as strong as I seem sometimes."

•••••••••

"I mean how can you be strong Jordan? You're the skater who uses his board because he is too lazy to walk. Those weak little arms of yours can't lift anything," I say jokingly. He laughs.

"Oh yeah? Well I bet you 10 dollars that I can pick you up squeaky."

"Bring it loser." We both stand up in front of each other. Jordan bends down to get his arm under my leg and another supporting my back. He slowly lifts me up.

"I need my 10 dollars. By the way you're heavy."

"Just shut up and put me down." Jordan drops me on the couch. "That works too." He laughs and sighs.

"Thanks Y/N. You're a big help."

"Anytime Jordan. Now let's go upstairs. I can smell the food

But there was one thing that was the biggest change of all.
The most changing change of them all.
The one that would affect the relationship of us.

I sat down on the front stairs of my house with my friend, B/F/N (Best friend's name). It was a hot summer day. School had just ended a week ago. We are eating ice cream and talking.

"How does it feel knowing you will be moving to Seattle this weekend?" they asked while licking their ice cream. I sighed.

"Tiring. But also Jordan has been avoiding me all week. I'm trying to text him and call, but he won't answer." B/F/N laughs and turns to look at the cat walking around my neighbor's yard.

"I'm surprised you aren't dating him. From what I've heard you've been around each other for most of your life. Don't you like him in any way possible?" I felt my face get hot and I looked down.

"W-Why would I? He's my best friend. If I did I would have no chance anyway," I mumble.

"Yep you do. Doesn't he live down the street from you anyway?" B/F/Nasks.

"No, more like farther in the front of the neighborhood. He can skateboard here pretty fast though."

"Well if he doesn't answer anytime this week, go talk to him the day before you leave. Maybe confess a few things. You'll be up there for your studies, so you won't have much time." I got an opportunity to be accepted as a senior at a college in Washington. I'll continue my normal work, but working as a marine biologist. They saw some research I have done before for school and wanted to expand it.

"I'll try, but I can't promise anything." We smiled and continued with our conversation. But I kept wondering about what would happen. I had 3 days until it was Saturday. Hopefully he answers.

By Friday night I hadn't heard a word from Jordan once again. I was slowly loosing my patience. I had to talk to him. I walked out of my room and grabbed a pair of sneakers.

"Y/N where are you going?" Mom asked.

"Need to go take a walk for one last time. I'll probably be out for a bit," I answered with my hand on the door handle.

"Okay, just be safe." I nodded and walked out the door. Hopefully I can make it to his house in a good amount of time. I took out an old skateboard Jordan left here once. I was never good at skateboarding, but this will have to do. I get on the wobbly skateboard and push off. This isn't too bad... I just need to get the hang of it that's all. I end up there in a considerable amount of time and walk up to the house. His mom probably won't like me randomly knocking at 10pm, so Jordan's window will have to do. Luckily, his window is an easy reach. I head towards the back and pause for a minute. Throwing a pebble or rock could crack the window. Maybe I should just call him until he answers. I take my phone out of my pocket and call Jordan. It goes to voicemail a few times before I actually get an answer.

"Yes?"

"Hey do me a favor and open your window. I'm going to melt out here." I can hear Jordan get up and unlock his window. I see his head pop out and look at me confused. "Let me in the house please. We need to talk."

"What's so important that you came to my house at..." Jordan unlocks his phone and looks down. "...10:15pm?"

I pause before answering, "What I'm going to tell you idiot, so let me in." Jordan sighs and opens his window enough to where I can step in. He closes the window until he accidentally lets his fingers slip and it drops with a thud. He motions for me to climb up to the loft as soon as we hear the door open.

Jordan's mom walks into his room. "What was that sound?"

"I was opening my window to get a breath of air, and it accidentally fell. Sorry."

"It's ok just keep it down. I'm trying to fall asleep."

"Ok Mom. Love you goodnight."

"Goodnight Jordan. Love you too." And with that statement she closed the door. Jordan climbed the ladder up to the loft. I leaned against the wall on a stack of pillows and he sat on his bed.

"Speak before you are almost caught again."

"Ok first of all, why have you been avoiding me all week. I havent seen or heard from you since the last day of school." Jordan looked down and sighed.

"Is there a reason why I should answer that Y/N?"

"Because I don't want to leave with that being one of the few things you left in my mind."

"What other things are there?"

"Stop avoiding my question and answer me. Why Jordan! Because it really hurts having someone who is so close to me and has been there for me since I was little to just suddenly avoid me a lot more ever since I basically got accepted for the thing in Washington! And it doesn't help I have feelings to deal with right now and everything is just not helping me Jordan. And while I'm ranting let me just say it's hard enough having to leave knowing I really like you, and I won't see you until god knows when. Thought of that Jordan?" I feel my face got hot, but also tears were forming in my eyes. I'm getting to worked up over this. I face the ladder and look down. "At least let me know Jordan. Please."

"Y-Y/N. It's hard for me too. I've known you for over 13 years now. You're the closest person I have. And now you'll be away up north. And let me tell you that those same feelings aren't the only thing bothering me. Who will I talk to now? I can't complain to anyone anymore. I'll really miss you, Y/N. And I've been avoiding you because of that. I don't want it affecting me."

We both paused for a moment and looked at each other. A slight smile formed on both of our faces.

"Can I do something I probably will regret?" Jordan asks. I nod. He scoots closer to me and puts his hand on my cheek. He wiped the tears from my face. "You know how I would always call you pretty, and you thought it was annoying?"

"Yeah."

"Well I've actually meant it all along." I smiled as a blush ran up my face. He leaned in and kissed me. It took a second to register. Once he pulled away I wrapped my arms around his torso and kissed him. We kept kissing until it almost became a bit heated.

"You know that if we continue I might be in trouble?" I ask. Jordan laughs.

"Yeah, I'll let you go. How about this. We can call each other and go out every time you plan to visit we can do something." I nod. "I'll let you go amaze Washington now. If I can visit before you leave I'll try. Thanks for everything, Y/N. You're truly an amazing person."

"Thanks for everything, Jordan. I'll make sure to call as much as possible." I climbed down the ladder and opened the window back outside. I saw him looking through the opening of the window. "Oh by the way, don't mess up on projects since I can't help now!"
I saw with a smile and laugh.

"I'll be fine I hope. Now go before anything happens." I take the skateboard and go back home. Jordan visited the next morning and said his goodbyes. We managed to talk most of the time I was out. There were several bumps, but we always found our way back to each other."

And with these words said
I dare to say on this beautiful and
Well cloudy night
As we sit on the same swings we met
Can we stay friends forever?
And never forget.

I dropped down on one knee into the sand under. "Well, I know this is so spontaneous and stuff, but I've been meaning to ask since you moved in when you returned. So, Y/N will you please, please marry me." I saw her sitting on the swing in tears. Right there she looked so beautiful. The gentle glow of the lamps illuminated her and her hair fell perfectly. She nodded with her hands over her face in tears. I smiled so big and hugged her tight, placing the ring on her finger. "Now we need to make some new memories. And I can try to make a poem out of that."

She looked at me and laughed. "Jordan Maron you are so dorky but interesting. I love you."

"And I love you too Y/N Maron."
