Chapter 51: A Not-so-Warm Welcome
Omg if Andor looked like this...I WANNA GO TO THE WORLD OF MIANITE UGHHHH
Song: Trouble by Iggy Azalea ft Jennifer Hudson

"We should get home. Or wherever it is you guys are staying. We shouldn't be out this late."
"Calm down, I just wanna walk around a little longer." I squeezed his hand a little in reassurance, but he still had that look on his face, that nervous look as he kept glancing around every so often. "The staring is getting to you, isn't it?" I sighed. I shouldn't be all that surprised, these jerks have been giving us dirty looks all night. Apparently being gay isn't popular in Urulu. Neither is having green skin. Whatever.
"No, I don't care about the staring. I just feel paranoid. We aren't really safe here. What's stopping him from coming after us again?" I could feel the pulse quickening in his hand as he spoke.
"We've been trapped in a bubble for three months Sparklez. I thought you'd enjoy a little freedom, like being able to walk around and hold hands."
"I want to! I'm just kinda scared..." His eyes flickered nervously towards another alleyway we passed by, but there was nothing in it. Just darkness and garbage.
"Well, we can go back to the inn if you really-" I stopped talking when I saw something way far ahead of us, in one of the huge corners of the street we were walking down. A large crowd of people were gathered around something, shouting and yelling things I couldn't really understand. What were they doing? Was there just a random rave or something in the middle of the city?
"It's a fight," Sparklez murmured. A fight? Oh cool, they have street fights here.
"Do you wanna go watch?" I suggested.
"What? No! I don't want to watch someone get beaten to death!"
Well I didn't want to either, but it still might be fun to watch someone else fight for a change. Though when I looked over at the fight and caught a glimpse of the inside of the circle, I knew right a way that I needed to see this fight.
I sprinted off towards the huge crowd and began to push through, hoping that Sparklez had been following me. He's gonna want to see this. He appeared a few moments later, his eyes veering a way from the fight, making him unaware of what was happening. He had to shout above the crowd so I could hear him. "Tom I told you I didn't want to watch it! Why are you so invested in it anyway? It's just a couple of stupid arrogant idiots getting into-" I heard his breath catch in his throat when he saw who had the upper hand in the fight.
Prince Andor.
It was hard to tell that it actually was him, but I knew by the mop of brown hair and the two huge scars on his back that he was him. He was slinging fists left and right at the guy in front of him, but the other guy was pretty fast too, ducking and swinging back just as hard. Hell, when did he get so buff? Where did that damaged kid go that we used to know?
"Choke him!" Someone jeered from the crowd.
"Break his arms!" Another person roared.
"These people are animals..." I muttered. I mean I love seeing the occasional blood shed too, but only when I'm doing the beating. The crowd looked possessed almost as they watched and cheered on the two men beating the shit out of each other.
"Bet ya fifty ems the skinny one dies first!" A guy beside me jabbed me in the ribs with his elbow, and I growled in his direction. He gave me a nasty look, before turning to another person and saying the same thing. Animal.
"Tom I can't watch this," Sparklez whispered. He gripped my arm tightly, his eyes glued to the fight.
"You don't wanna watch Andor win this fight? I didn't know the guy could throw punches this hard," I laughed.
Sparklez didn't look the least but amused though, a look of horror on his face. "He's getting hurt! Look at his face, it's got bruises and cuts all over it!"
"Grow a spine, kid. This is what real men do in their time." Sparklez visibly flinched at the guy beside hims words.
I wrapped a protective arm around his waist and shot the guy a death glare, the nastiest one I could manage and hissed. "Shut up, prick."
The guy looked like he wanted a right rumble, but then he took in my appearance and thought better of it, turning back to watch the fight. I guess having the grossest skin imaginable works in my favor in these situations.
Sparklez gasped beside me and I saw from the corner of my eye someone in the circle crumble to the ground. I turned back to the fight, ready to see Andor lying on the ground nearly dead, but that wasn't what I saw. The huge bulky guy he'd been fighting was laying there instead, blood pouring from his nose and a large knot visible on his shaved head. Andor knocked him out.
Some members of the crowd groaned and booed, while others cheered and pumped fists into the air. Sparklez just seemed mesmerized by the fact that Andor actually won the fight. The broken little prince we saved together ages ago could handle his own business now, without us.
"Anyone else care to step up?" Andor asked the crowd, a grin plastered on his bruised face. No one did, and soon the huge crowd that had gathered was no more than a few people staggering around and talking about the fight. Sparklez remained glued to his spot, still staring at Andor so was now shoving a few gems someone had given him into a little burlap bag. He tied it up and slipped on a shirt he'd stored away on his jeans pocket, finally glancing up from his work to scan the rest of the people still there. He saw me first, confusion clouding his eyes, and then he saw the hunkered down depressed little nerd beside me.
"Jordan?"
"H-Hi." Sparklez gave a small little wave and a half smile, though none were believable.
Andor smiled giddily and skipped over to us, wrapping up Sparklez in a hug. "My, it's been months! How have you been?"
"Uh, okay I guess. How have you been? Besides, you know, the street fighting?" I heard a hint of irritation in Sparklez voice when he spoke that time. Crap, he's upset.
Andor grinned sheepishly then, nervously kicking at the sand on the sidewalk. "So you saw that, huh? Well I don't do it every night, only occasionally when I feel up to it. It's quite invigorating."
"It's invigorating having your face beat in?" Sparklez asked with snappy distaste.
"You aren't happy with me, are you?" Andor sighed.
Sparklez crossed his arms. "No, I'm not. Why are you doing this? What happened to Lee?"
He frowned and stared down at his shoes. "I just...it didn't work out. But I like this better." (A/N *Sob*)
"Why?! You hate violence! You hate negativity! Why are you fighting people?!"
"I-Its fun for me! I like participating in it!"
This is not going well. Maybe I should stop standing here and actually try to help. "Sparklez-"
"You like hurting people?! You like getting paid for inflicting pain on others?! Have you turned into lieutenant Al now?!"
Oh shit.
Andor was speechless. His bottom lip quivered slightly and I could see tears welling up in his eyes. Okay I love Sparklez to death, but that was not cool. You don't bring up a kids tormentor, especially to accuse him of being said tormentor.
But Andor didn't yell or scream or say a single negative thing to Sparklez. "I am not lieutenant Al. Lieutenant Al enjoyed torturing me and watching me die. I enjoy the thrill of knowing I am not weak. Call it what you would like to, but it's my way of being happy and I don't feel the least bit sorry for it."
"Roasted..." I mumbled underneath my breath, earning a small glare from my husband. "What? I'm just tryin' to lighten the mood. You're the one who made the kid mad."
He sighed and turned back to the upset prince, an apologetic look in his eyes. "I didn't mean to make you mad Andor...I'm just worried about you."
Andor's glare softened and he sighed too. "You don't need to worry about me. For once in my life, I am happy with my choices. Let's not talk about my life though, I am curious as to what you've been up to since I last saw you. How is the town of Dagrun?" He smiled warmly at the both of us.
"Well...it's-"
"It's currently frozen," I finished for Sparklez. He sent me another glare and elbowed me, making me whimper pathetically and shift away from him. "Rude," I spat. He rolled his eyes and tried to reassure the now panicking Andor.
"I-It's not frozen, it's just...really really cold."
Andor raised an eyebrow. "But...it isn't winter time. Why is it cold there?"
"It's a long depressing story that will probably take a whole week to explain, and Sparklez and I really need to get back home and check on our daughter. Can we talk about this tomorrow?" I asked in annoyance. An elbow then jabbed me so hard and I nearly fell over. I hissed and glared at Sparklez, who was giving me a similar look of anger. "What's your problem?"
"You...you have a daughter?" Andor asked slowly. Oh shit. I forgot he doesn't know that either. That's why Sparkly pants abused me.
Sparklez sighed and ran a hand stressfully through his hair. "Yes. We do. Would you want to meet her?"
"Um...sure? And would it be rude to ask how you have a daughter? Did you adopt?"
"No, Wag created a demon with our traits and made her into human form. She's pretty damn adorable. Her names Rosie." Another elbow slammed into my ribs and I whined. "Stop abusing me!" I growled at Sparklez.
"Stop explaining things out of context!" He growled back.
Feisty little sausage...
~
"Matt...you okay there, dude?" I asked this question purely out of fear for Andor's safety, because right now he's staring a hole through Andor's head as if he's trying to murder him purely with his piercing red eyes.
"I'm fine," he spat through gritted teeth. His whole body suggested otherwise. He looked like he was about to snap the kids neck any moment now. I didn't see what Andor what doing that was making Matts blood boil. He was only playing with Rosie. I mean I know he's protective of the her, but Andor isn't gonna do anything stupid.
"Hey Matt, did you know Andor used to be prince of Dagrun? He used to protect the city and watch over the children there." I think Sparklez was more likely trying to keep the guy from murdering Andor than telling him information about him.
Matts said nothing, he only continued to stare at Andor with murderous eyes. I think Andor was becoming aware of it now, glancing occasionally at Matt but not really showing any fear towards him. That kid has definitely changed. Months ago he would have been running out the front door, getting as far away from Matt as possible.
"Hey Andor, can I call you Andy?" Rosie beamed excitedly at Andor, her arms still clinging around his neck. I'm surprised at how much she's come to like the guy in a matter of thirty minutes. Maybe Sparklez told her about him before.
"Well I don't see why not. As long as I can call you Posie." He smiled down at the confused little girl sitting in his lap.
"Posie? What's a posie?" She asked, cocking her head slightly.
"It is a beautiful happy little flower. I will certainly have to bring you some one day!" He booped her nose, and she giggled hysterically.
After the giggle fit died down, she asked another question. "Hey Andy, if you're a prince, do you have a princess?"
"Oh I don't have a princess yet. Though one day I'd like to have one."
"Andy, would I be a pretty princess?" She made a crown on her head with her hands, and Andor chuckled.
"Yes, you would be the prettiest princess in all the land. Though I think you deserve a far more beautiful crown than the one you possess." He took the backpack he had on his back and began to dig through it, pulling out something super shiny and placed it on Rosie's head.
It was crown. Not a paper crown or a plastic crown, an actual golden crown with huge jewels encrusted in the points. What the hell? He just randomly carries around a crown with him everywhere he goes?
Rosie's squealed excitedly and crawled out of his lap, jumping up and down on the bed while holding her crown down.
Andor smiled sweetly at the sight. "Take good care of it, okay? It once belonged to a beautiful princess named Alva."
Oh my god. No, he didn't just do that. He didn't just give away his dead sisters crown to Rosie.
"Andor, are you sure-" Sparklez started, but Andor waved his worries away.
"I'm sure she will take good care of it, just as Alva did. I better get going everyone. I have much more to do tonight. Will I see you tomorrow, princess Posie?" He stood up from the bed and winked at Rosie, and she nodded excitedly.
"Bye prince Andy! Thank you for the crown!" She gave him a big hug and a kiss on the cheek. He blushed slightly and smiled a little wider, slipping away from the hug and heading off towards the door.
"Well goodbye everyone. It was nice meeting you Rosie and Matt." He have a polite nod towards the wizard seething with anger in the corner of the inn room, and then he left.
"Yes, I have to get going as well. I will see you all tomorrow." Matt bolted out of the room before we could even say goodbye.
Yeah this isn't gonna end well. I hope Andor knows how to fight immortal wizards.
"Tom you have to go stop him from killing Andor," Sparklez whispered so that Rosie couldn't hear.
I groaned and fell back on our bed. "I don't wanna. I'm tired. I'm sure they'll work things out anyway."
"No they won't! You have to go stop them!"
"Why is Matt so angry anyway? I mean I'm protective over her too, but I don't have the urge to kill everyone who gets around her."
Sparklez face went pale, and I knew then that he'd been lying to me about something.
"Hey Rose, how about you go take a bathroom break, alright?"
She nodded and hopped off the bed, setting her crown down gently on the covers before hurrying off to the bathroom. I turned to Sparklez as soon as the door closed. "Okay, what did you lie about?"
"In the future, Rosie is Matts soulmate."
Oh.
"...and how exactly did you get this information?"
"Matt sees visions of it all the time. In the future they fall in love. I didn't want to tell you because I was afraid you'd murder Matt."
"Good reason, but I'd appreciate it if you'd avoid lying to me in the future."
"I'm sorry. I'm really sorry." He hugged me apologetically, and I accepted it, hugging him back. "Please go save Andor, I have a feeling Matt isn't gonna let him live after Rosie kissed him on the cheek."
"What do I get in return for this heroic deed?" I wiggled my eyebrows suggestively.
"If you don't do this heroic deed, you'll be sleeping five miles away from me for the next month." He pulled away from our hug and crossed his arms in front of his chest. Damn his sassiness.
"Come on, I just want a little reward. Maybe a peck on the cheek or something?" I asked softly.
"I'll give you a blow job. Now get out and stop them from killing each other."
