Chapter 34: Helgrind and Martha.

Toms p.o.v.

"Hey look at this one! I think it's Tucker or something!"

I blew the thick dust off the frame on the wall as Sparklez walked over to it.
He didn't want to leave until Ianite had woken up, so we've been snooping around the room looking at photos and belongings.

The picture revealed a black haired male with brown eyes holding a sword up in the air, while a girl clung to his side smiling and waving at the camera.
I couldn't really make out her features, the picture was too scratched up. But I could clearly see the dude who looked a lot like Tucker.

I saw two signatures at the bottom and wiped away more dust.

In sloppily written letters, two names were written beside each other.

'Sir Jeriah and Country Bat'

"Huh, I guess that's other dimension Tucker and Sonja." He replied while staring at the picture.

"Wait! I think I see another one of them on that wall."

I began to jog over to the other wall, when I tripped over something shiny peeking out from under the bed.

"What the? What is that?" Sparklez asked, not even caring that I fell.

He picked up the shiny object from under the bed.

"Yeah I'm fine thanks for asking," I said sarcastically.

"It's a camcorder...I wonder if it has any videos on it."

He opened up a little compartment and a small screen slid out and began to play a video.
The camera focused on two people in the distance. One an adult, the other a child.
It finally cleared all together, and we saw who it was.

It was Spark, I think. He had on the green glasses instead of red ones like Sparklez. His clothes were different, and his hair a bit messier, but he looked exactly like Sparklez. He was holding a little girls hand as she was trying to walk towards the person holding the camera. Her shiny and short lavender hair was in two pig tails and her eyes were a dark grey color, she was wearing a yellow sundress and she was smiling and giggling at the person behind the camera.

"Almost there sweetie! Keep going!" I heard Ianites voice ring out. She was the one with the camcorder.

"Come on Martha, walk towards mommy!" I heard Spark call.

The little girl began walking, without Sparks help, towards Ianite.

"Oh my god! Sparkie she's walking!" Ianite squealed.
Spark just smiled while his daughter ran to her mom.

"She's not so little anymore..." He smiled sadly as he walked up to Ianite and his daughter, picking her up and kissing her forehead.

The little child wrapped her tiny arms around his neck and kissed his bearded cheek.

"I wuv you daddy!" She giggled.

The clip ended and Sparklez looked amazed.

"That was Martha...and Spark."

"Is there any more clips on there?!" I asked.

"I don't know let me check."
He started pressing a bunch of random buttons and finally picture returned to the small screen.

A small boys face popped up, he was staring above the camera at the person holding it with an annoyed expression on his face. He had light dirty blonde hair and purplish hazel eyes. He looked to be the age of 13 and he was wearing a polo and a pair of worn out jeans, his hands in the pockets of them.

"Do I have to? I really don't wanna..." He wined.

"Just please do this for your father? He would be very proud!"

Ianite was filming it again.

"Fine...but I won't like it."

The small boy faced away from the screen and the lense focused from his face.
I watched as the little boy picked up a rapier, Sparklez rapier that he had now, and walked toward a Skeleton.
He stabbed it in the head and it's skull cracked wide open, it fell to the ground with a large clanking noise.

"Whoo! Good job Henry! Mommy is so proud of you!"

"Mom...you're embarrassing me..." He groaned as he sat the rapier back down.

"I can't wait to show him what you've learnt!"

"Yeah sure...when's that gonna be? Three weeks?" He replied sarcastically.
He crossed his arms and looked down at his sneakers.

I heard Ianite sigh unhappily.

The film stopped again.

"I'm guessing that was Helgrind?"

"Yeah I guess so. Let's keep watching."

He flipped to the next.

This time it was Ianites face looking at the camera smiling.
"My boys are about to sword fight, and I do believe my Henry might beat his father this time..." She giggled.

"Yup, Sparks getting too old for his sword fightin' ways!" I heard a male voice yell from behind the camera.
It sounded like Tucker, it must've been Sir Jeriah.
Ianite quickly glanced behind her and clapped her hands excitedly.

"It's starting!" She squealed.

She ducked out of the way and the camera focused on two males in the distance. They were standing on a dirt path in the middle of a flat area. I recognized Spark, and then I saw Helgrind. He looked way older than he did in the last video.
Both of them held swords and they were standing even distance from eachother.

"You can smell the intensity from here..." I heard another male voice complain.

Was that Toms double? It sounded like Tom.

"Yeah Mot, I place 5 diamonds on Henry. He's definitely winning this one."
I heard a female voice say. That must have been Country Bat.

Mot? Wait, that was Tom spelled backwards...

Sir Jeriah called out from behind the camera.

"ALL RIGHT LADIES! I WANT A CLEAN FIGHT! NO DEATH OR SLASHING OF THE STOMACH CHEST AREA OR ABOVE THE NECK! WHOEVER LOSES THEIR SWORD FIRST IS THE LOSER OF THE FIGHT! READY, SET, FIGHT!"

Henry or Helgrind immediantly brought his sword down on Spark, and Spark deflected it easily. They slashed and clanked swords for what seemed like forever. Spark was very good, but so was Henry. It was like a perfectly even match. A couple minutes passed and none of them had tried to seize the other, but then Henry began to advance on Spark.
It got even more intense as Henry got closer and closer to Spark, Spark beginning to get unbalanced.
He tried one last time to clash the sword out of Sparks hand, but Spark deflected it, causing Henry to stumble back. He looked enraged that his opportunity was lost.

Now I could see the resemblance between Henry and Helgrind.

Henry raised his sword high and slashed it across Sparks face.
Sparks fell to the ground holding his face, blood oozing from the creases of his hands.
Ianite screamed and ran to him, while the others stood there shocked.

Jeriah spoke up first.
"Did he just?"

"He did. Why would he do that? Spark did nothing to him!" I heard Country Bat whisper.

"Haven't you guys been noticing?" I heard Mot whisper.

The camera was still focused on Ianite bending over Spark, holding his face gently, while Sparks just stared at his son in disbelief.
Henry stood there proudly.
He was smiling while examining the blood on his sword, twirling it slowly in his hands.

"He's turning against Spark...it's impossible not to notice...if he becomes king, this place will burn to the ground..." He continued.

The clip ended, but not without Henry turning towards the camera and smiling sadistically.

Jordan looked up from the camcorder.
"You...you don't think he..."

"He had to have had something to do with it..."

We stood in silence for a few moments when a voice interrupted it.

"I wouldn't say he is completely innocent. He refused to help me search for them...I didn't want to think it, but I did.
And I wanted revenge. That's why Freya and Alva were killed...I couldn't control my sub conscience and it's accusations, that my son had done something to my husband and his friends. The taint was...my rage."
Ianite was sat up in her bed, staring at the floor.

"...what did you do about Helgrind hurting Spark?" Sparklez asked.

"I couldn't do much...he was an adult. I just healed my Spark and told Henry I was very disappointed by his actions. He laughed in my face."
She shook her head.

"When he became king, it became worse. He didn't keep fair balance, he ruled like a selfish individual. He never cared for his people. Only himself. Spark rarely visited him when he was king. He spent most of his time teaching Martha spells and things to defend herself with. He was worried she'd have to use it against Henry one day...I could tell he was depressed that his only son despised him for no reason."

"He hung out with Mianite a lot didn't he?" I asked.

"Yes...I suppose that's what happened. I shouldn't have let him be with his uncle for such long periods of time. It's what corrupted him."

"Why didn't you just let Martha have the throne?"

"Martha was a good child, always keeping balance. But she had no interest in ruling. We even asked her before we crowned Henry if she wanted to rule instead of him. She declined and said she wouldn't be able to. That she wanted to live with Steven in the outback. I wish she could have. Maybe then my Spark would still be with me..."

I decided to change the subject, it was getting too serious up in here.

"So...you still feeling like a liquid?" I joked.

"I'm feeling much better, still weak, but much better. Although Jordan seems to be a bit out of it..."
She pointed at Jordan, who hadn't said a word in the entire conversation, and was staring at one of the frames with a puzzled expession.

I looked over the wall, trying to spot out any picture that might've upset him.

There was a picture in the far left corner, of Mianite. He was holding a sword covered in blood, whose, I wasn't sure. His eyes were a disturbing white color and his expression was hard and serious. He was standing over stone ruins, as if to show the destruction he had done.

Jordan seemed very bothered by it.

"Thomas, take him home for a little while. He's seeing...things again. I guess I shouldn't have certain pictures on these walls..."
I walked to the puzzled Sparkley pants and nudged his arm.
He gasped from his trance-like state and backed away, fear evident in his eyes.

"Jordan, he can't hurt you here. He can't hurt your friends. As long as I am here, I will make sure you are safe."
Ianite tried to assure him, but he looked utterly terrified still.

He shook his head miserably.

"How can you? You could crumble any minute...you nearly did today..."

He leaned into my side and turned his gaze at the ground.
I placed my arm around his side and drew circles into his back, trying to give him some comfort.
I knew he felt trapped, like no one could protect any of us from this danger.

Ianite sighed and lifted off her covers.
"It's time I try and communicate with my brother...maybe his spirit will be able to tell us what we must do...."

Dianite. I didn't want to ever see him again. Even if it wasn't actually him.
He'd been haunting my dreams for awhile now.
But I had to face him. We needed his help.
I needed to pull through, for Jordan.
I tightened my grip around him, as if trying to shelter him from whatever danger that was coming next.
Of course, I knew I couldn't protect him from a God. That was impossible.

But I wouldn't mind to die trying.
