Tick Tock

Jordan was already freaked out enough, but the faces of those around him seemed to deviate an overwhelming pressure upon him.

They looked at him as if he were a time bomb, unstable and able to shatter within seconds. But they also looked... greedy?

And the atmosphere was really getting to Jordan

"So can someone exp-"

"Aw come on! So this means he gets to choose? Why not just give him to Mianite? Things are unfair as it is." Tucker cut Jordan short, directing his exasperation to Dec.

Choose? Give him to who?

Tucker was an odd sight, his appearance not at all matching his voice.

His hair was a scraggly dark brown, partially hidden beneath a white and red baseball cap adorned with an odd, curved green symbol. His skin was pale with dark emerald green eyes set above pursed lips. He wore a childishly bright blue vest with shord white sleeves and collar over a dark green shirt the same color as his eyes. His jeans were a pale blue with his black and white sneakers poking out from the bottoms. He tapped his foot impatiently, glancing at Jordan every now and then as if assesing him.

Jordan opened his mouth to ask again, but was once again cut off.

"Dianite already has too many members, whilst Mianite has two, not including the priest or his b*tch." Sonja pointed out, crossing her arms over her chest.

"She has a point." Declin agreed, causing Tom to scowl.

Sonja was a whole new odd from Tucker.

She was beautiful, her whole body radiating sass. She had long, reddish-orange hair and light brown eyes cowled beneath the pale orange of her hoodie. Fox ears popped out at the head of her hood and orangish-brown stripes adorned her sides. Her shirt was a clean white and her shorts were bright red with the ends folded up to show the inside as the same color orange as her hood. She wore orange and black striped socks that came up to her knees and stylish red converses that were only slightly battered. As Jordan looked, he jumped as a fluffy tail flickered out from behind the girl, a blur of orange and white. Jordan blinked several times, rubbing his eyes, only to confirm that there was in fact, a tail attached to the girl.

"You can't force him to your god! That's not how it works. Plus, I found him first, so I've called dibs." Tom glared at Tucker, then turned, sending a grin to Jordan whose mouth clapped shut in annoyance.

Tom had been an odd sight as well, but he stood out now among his bright companions.

Tom's eyebrows were scrunched in annoyance over the dark brown of his eyes. His dirty blonde hair was spiked up similar to Jordan's, tilted slightly to the side, yet in contrast to Jordan's clean shaven appearance, Tom's wispy mustache stuck out like a sore thumb. He was pale, his skin taking an almost sickly green tint. He wore a pristine suit, the black cashmere lending the red tie he wore a bright, almost sickly blood color. His shoes were the same dark black as his jacket and slacks, but they had been polished to perfection despite the small, crusty red stains on them. His eyes darted around constantly, as if waiting for something or someone to surprise him.

"You've called dibs? How on Mianite does that make anything fair?" Tucker argued.

"Well not on Mianite, but with Dianite it counts." Tom smirked.

Jordan yelped as Tom grabbed his arm without so much as glancing at him as he dragged Jordan towards himself.

"Tom, what are you-"

He winced as Tucker grabbed his other arm, pulling him away from Tom.

This was so cliché..

"I'm not letting you take him!" Tucker yelped.

"Guys.." Jordan muttered nervously, wincing as his shoulder was yanked forcefully.

"This is getting childish!" Sonja shook her head, but was practically otherwise useless in helping.

"Declin?" Jordan begged, but the priest was conveniently looking elsewhere.

Jordan shut his eyes, squeezing them tightly as he felt his patience pushed to the limits.

"He's not joining the freaking devil! The guy's obviously smarter than that!" Tucker tugged harshly at Jordan's arm.

"Oh, and so he's just going to join the old man in the dress? Pass." Tom bit back.

"ENOUGH!"

Jordan pushed out both arms, causing both boys to fly backwards. Tucker hit the ground with a soft WHUMPH whilst Tom struggled to stay upright.

"Dude, why did you-"

"Shut up!"

Tom clamped his mouth shut, looking wide eyed at the annoyance twisted across Jordan's formerly neutral features.

Jordan began to take deep breaths, calming himself down as the trio stared at him incredulously, surprised by the guy's outburst.

"Look, I know I'm new and all, but could someone please tell me what on Earth is going on? And who in the world is Mianite?"

The group looked at each other, then all at once they turned to Jordan.

"The world's god." They chorused, their faces blank, but the obvious inside joke was lost on Jordan.

"And how on Mianite does he not know who the gods are?" Sonja asked, confused.

"Am I supposed to know?" Jordan asked, tilting his head to the side.

"Uh, yeah." Tucker and Tom chorused, looking at each other in surprise.

Declin turned to Jordan, sighing.

"I guess then that it's my job to explain." He began as if regretting his life decisions.

"Why would it be your job?" Jordan asked, thinking back to whether they had implied who he was, but Jordan had a really crappy attention span.

Declin blinked, looking at him annoyed for interrupting.

"Ah, forgive me. I'm the priest who gave up his bed and beauty sleep to help an obviously lost cause. The name's Declin, by the way." He spoke sarcastically, looking down at Jordan who had gone slightly pale.

"I-uh.." Jordan stammered, lost in finding a reply to that.

For a moment, there was silence. Jordan silently promising to never mess with the priest as he tried to avoid Declin's unwavering, steely stare.

Tucker cleared his throat, causing everyone to look at him, excluding Declin, who was now looking away innocently.

"Uh, since the Priest started it, guess I might as well introduce myself. " Jordan looked at him surprised. "My name is Tucker, and this-" he gestured towards the fox girl next to him, "is Sonja."

"I heard." Jordan replied, and Tucker had the manners to look slightly embarresed.

"I'm Tom." Tom raised his hand.

"We know, Thomas." Tucker rolled his eyes, causing Jordan to crack a small smile.

Tom smiled deviously, and Jordan was surprised to see that the animosity between the two had practically disappeared, adding to the list of weird in Jordan's head.

"Aw come on, Boner. Don't be such a spoil sport." Tom drawled, causing Tucker to flush slightly.

"Boner?" Jordan repeated, wondering if he had heard wrong.

Tom nodded sagely as Sonja failed to stifle a small snigger.

"You heard me. Our little Tucker here has a very... interesting name. Would you care to enlighten the boy?"

"Shut up Tom." Tucker muttered, glaring at Tom, but the blonde devil wasn't about to relent.

"What was that? Tucker... Tucker Bo-"

"TUCKER BONER! Okay? Tucker. William. Boner." He broke.

Tom burst into a fit of giggles whilst Sonja covered her mouth, her sides shaking in amusement.

Jordan couldn't stop the laugh that escaped his lips, nor look at Tucker as his head swiveled towards Jordan, a withering look upon his face.

Sonja calmed herself down, though her smile still remained plastered to her face.

"Well, though Mr. Boner here has already taken it upon himself to introduce me," she extended her hand.

"The name is Sonja Reid, though some call me Fire Fox for... obvious reasons."

Jordan looked at her hand in surprise before shaking it gratefully.

"Are you children finished yet?" Declin cut them off.

Silently, they nodded their heads, however only Jordan actually looked attentive.

"Well then, let me start from the beginning. The beginning of everything."
