Brian and me were making cupcakes together. "I think we're missing something." I said. "What's that?" Brian asked. "You know." I said.

We face each other. "Chocolate frosting." We said together. Brian goes to the refrigerator and gets the chocolate frosting. He fills the cupcakes with chocolate frosting. "Perfect." We said together.

"I can't believe we're hanging together. Eating cupcakes and playing board games." I said. "You make it sound like we're going to a baseball game." Brian said. "That would be nice too, but I'm just glad we get to spend time together." I said.

Someone knocks on the door. "I'll get it." I said. I walk to the door and opened it. It was Brian's coworker Steve Turner. He always comes over and eats our food.

"Hey kiddo where's your brother." He asks. "Over there Steve." I said. "Thanks." He said walking in. "Hey Steve what's up?" Brian asks. "Are you going to eat that?" Steve asks.

"Go ahead." Brian said. He takes it and takes a bite. "Chocolate frosting inside. You never disappoint me Brian." Steve said. "And you never stop eating our food. So why are you here? It's a Sunday." Brian said.

"I know. The boss needs you. Right now. They're not enough workers." Steve explained. "So." Brian said. "So, he said he's going to give you extra cash on Friday if you come." Steve explained. "Alright let's go." Brian said grabbing his jacket.

"Brian." I said. "I'm sorry sis. I have to go." Brian said. "But." I said. "I have to. It's extra money." Brian said. "But we barley spend any time together. You're just like dad." I said.

"You know I'm not. I'll make it up to you. I promise." Brian said. "Fine bye." I said. Brian and Steve waved before leaving. I ate my cupcake and played board games by myself.

When Mom came back from work. We had dinner, I took a bath and went to bed. "Mia. Mia." I heard Brian say. I opened my eyes. "Brian." I said.

"Yeah wanna watch baseball together?" Brian ask. I look at my clock. "Brian it's past my bedtime. I should go to bed." I said. We look at each other before laughing. I got out of bed and we watch the game.

It was fun. We even made popcorn. "This is awesome Brian. Thanks for waking me up." I said. "You're welcome sis. I told you. I would make it up to you." Brian said. "And you did." I said.

"Just don't tell mom." Brain said. "Don't tell mom. She doesn't know." I said. "Nope it's our secret." Brian said. "Hey Brian." I said. "Yeah." Brian said. "This is more fun than playing board games." I said. He chuckles.

The next day:
I fell asleep in history class. Someone shakes me. I open my eyes and rub them. "Good morning new girl. Had a good sleep." Eric said.

"Mr. Matthews what are you doing in my house?" I ask. Everyone laughs. "Actually it's my classroom. Is it my classroom Autumn?" Eric asks. "Yes sir." Autumn said. "The test is over new girl." Eric explained. "It is? How did I do?" I ask. "Let's see looks like a B." Eric said. "Awesome." I said.

"No you actually got a F. B is the only answer you put down before you fell asleep." Eric said. "Oh come on Mr. Matthews. I was up until midnight." I said. "And what were you doing at that hour?" Eric ask.

"Watching baseball." I said. "Cow girl you got to stay up to watch the game. Awesome." Braidy said. "Yeah with my brother." I said. "You saw the game too. Did you see....Wait what am I saying you should have stayed up and studied for the test." Eric said.

"That's what I did sir." Autumn said. "Teacher pet." Braidy said. "Playboy." Autumn replied. What am I'm going to tell Brian. No what am I going to tell mom.

At home:

"You failed the test!" Brian shouted. "Yeah I got a F." I said. "Mom going to kill me." Brian said. He hurried to the door, but bump into someone. "Brian what's your rush?" Mom asks.

"Uh I'm going to Steve's house." Brian said. "Wait Brian what about my test. I failed." I said. "What? You failed your test?" Mom asks. Oh no. I forgot she doesn't know we stayed up last night.

"What did I say that? I mean it was just a dream." I said. "Brian." Mom said. She smiles at him. "You kept your sister up on a school night." Mom ask. "Maybe." Brian said.

"What were you thinking." Mom said. "I just wanted to spend time with my sister. We barley spend any time together anymore since we move here." Brian explained. She glares at him. "Why don't I have a talk with her teacher uh...." Brian said.

"Mr. Matthews." I said. "Mr. Matthews and get him to let Mia take a make up test " Brian finished. "What a great big brother, but until then you're grounded." Mom said walking in the apartment. "Well I should get going." Brian said, leaving.

Brian P.O.V

I went to Mia's school, which is John west view middle school. I walked into Mia's history class. "Mr. Matthews." I said. "Mia." Said a guy dressed in normal clothes.

He looks at me. "You're not Mia. Who are you?" He asks. "Uh I'm Mia's brother. I called early." I said. "Oh yeah. Take a seat." Mr. Matthews said. I took at seat at a desk.

"So Mr. Schmidt. What do you need?" Mr. Matthews asks. "Well my sister failed your test and it was my fault. I'm the one who woke her up so can she take a make up test or something. She's a good kid." I said. "Nope." Mr. Matthews said. "What? Why not?" I ask.

"Because I can't treat anyone special. I mean I have Richie in my class and I treat her like everyone else what I'm trying to say is I heard that excuse before my brother used it on Mr. Feeny his teacher." Mr. Matthews explained. "But...Come on you can do this one thing for me can't you." I said. "I can't." Mr. Matthews said.

"Come on I'm the only father figure Mia has. I can't just let her fail a test for something I did." I said. "Mr. Schmidt did you hear yourself." Mr. Matthews asked. "What?" I said.

"It's something you did. You could have chosen not to wake her, but you did so you can keep your promise. Don't you see Mr. Schmidt you're her brother and like a father. So you're the one who has to make the right choice." Mr. Matthews explained.

What? I just left and went back home. "How did it go?" Mia asked. "You still have a F. However I think I learned something. After school let's go to the park together." I said. "Okay." Mia agreed.

The next day:

"Ready Mia?" I ask. "Yep." Mia said holding a baseball and bat. Someone knocks on the door. I opened the door. "Hey pal." Steve said.

"What is it now Steve? We didn't make any food today." I said. "I didn't come here for that. Boss needs you at work now." Steve explained. "I can't." I said. "He says he will pay you extra again." Steve explained.

"Bye Steve." I said, pushing him out the doorway and closing it. "Well leave when he leaves." I said. "Are you sure extra money." Mia said. "It's fine. My sister more important will when she's not a pain." I said. "I should be saying the same thing." Mia said.

Mia P.O.V

It was after school and I opened the door to history class. "Mr. Matthews." I said. "Yeah." Eric said. He was writing something. "Are you grading homework?" I ask.

We look at each other before laughing. "I'm doing a cross word." Eric explained. "Oh will anyway here it's a gift from Brain and me." I said. I gave him the bag.

He looks at it before opening it. He takes out the cupcake. "A cupcake. I love cupcakes thanks new girl." Eric said, taking a bite.

"You're welcome. Thanks for teaching my brother a lesson." I said. "Of course I am your teacher." Eric said. "Yeah my crazy genius teacher and you wonder why I call you Mr. Matthews." I said.
