Mystery Man

Mia turned the corner of the enlarged office room and saw a man, standing in the corner hidden by shadows. The man didn't surprise her because she traced the evidence down to it, but what surprised her was the fact that he wasn't there before. With her signature smirk, she walked up to the man. She ripped off his mask. Instantly she backed away.
"Wh-who are you?!" She widened her eyes.
"Does it matter? You won't remember my face anyway," he stated.
" 'Ow could I remember something that isn't there?" She tried to touch the area of which a face is supposed to be. She felt the features of a face. A sharp nose, full lips, and.... holes where eyes should be. She jumped back, very frightened. This was the first creature she had seen that didn't even seem human. All she saw was black though. Her mind drew a blank. She couldn't understand what was going on. Was it something with her eyes? She realized that it wasn't time to be confused. Rule one of being a detective: Never get distracted.
"So, Mia Rachel Holland, confused are you?" His voice was so difficult to comprehend. It sounded so raspy, yet smooth. So evil, yet angelic. So... different.
"Very, but that means I'll learn something. It'll do me good. Now, sir, who are you?" She looked at him, trying not to look away. His faceless face made you want to never see it. It forces you to want to look away. She tried so very hard to focus on him.
"Dear child, your family is much different than you know. They aren't really your parents. They know that, but you haven't figured it out yet," the blackness showed no emotions.
Mia, was freaked out, "of course they're my parents. They raised me. They took care of me. They'll always be my parents. They look like me too," she tried to convince herself although deep down, she knew.
"Young child, listen to your hearts. You'll find the right answer."
"Did you kill these people?" She accused.
"No. I relieved them of the torture of modern day society," he told the young eight year old.
"They had lives. Family!" She shouted at the dark, faceless creature.
"It would've ended soon enough anyway."
"But it didn't have to end now!" She let a tear fall from her face, "All lives are important. There's not one that isn't. Everybody is important to somebody in the universe. You can't just take away the lives of someone! And.... Did you say hearts?" She sputtered.
"Yes indeed, child. Mia Holland, I did say hearts. A child born from Timelord, and my race, the Forgotten. No longer a mystery, young Holland. I'm your uncle."
