A Fox-napping (3)
Alexi's POV
Doug and I watched as the vines closed around Mia. "Mia!" I yelled as I ran toward Lukai, enraged at his use of magic. Bo blocked my path however, and I crashed into him. "I'll carry the fox," Lukai growled. "Cover me and lets get out of here Bo." He nodded and picked me up by the scruff, flinging me into a tree. "Alexi!" Doug whimpered as he ran to my side. "Are you okay sis?" I groaned and lifted my head, watching as Scout came out of hiding. "I'm fine," I reasured him, trying to stand. "We need to help Mi-aaahh!" I fell back down, my head pounding.
"Alexi! Stop moving, you're making it worse!" Doug whined, licking my face. I looked out at the clearing, but they were already gone. I hope Mia is alright. We need her. Scout came over with some herbs. "These should help the pain. She may want some water as well Doug." He nodded and left to get some. I ate the leaves and lay my head back down, Scout laying next to me. I drifted off to sleep as Doug came back, wrapping himself around me.
Bo's POV
I checked behind us as we ran, Lukai carrying the bundle that was the fox. "Lukai," I whined. "Why are we taking the fox? Whats so important about her?" I watched as he slowed to a stop, setting her down. "Help me move her," he growled. I looked at him, confused, but went to break open the vine casing. When I was done, I saw that Lukai had brought a huge stick over. "What's that for?" I yipped.
"Patience Bo. I'll answer your questions when we get back," he growled as he tied her to the stick with vines. He picked up one end and I picked up the other, setting off at a brisk pace. Ugh, I don't get what his deal is. He never leaves me with unanswered questions. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to wait.
Mia's POV
I woke up with a pounding headache. Ugh, where am I? The last thing I remember is... Oh Rhuan... Alexi, Doug, and Scout! I need to get back to them! I tried to stand but realized I couldn't. What the- you know what. I should figure out where I am first. I took in my surroundings, finding that I was tied to a stick and in a honeysuckle bush. Trying to stay quiet, I began breaking the vines holding me down.
All of a sudden, I realized there were voices not far from where I was. Inhaling deeply, I caught the scent of Lukai and four other wolves. Their smells differ though. I can tell they aren't part of the same pack, so why are they talking somewhat peacefully? And where did Bo go? Another sniff told me he was hiding farther back from the wolves. Oh Rhuan... They aren't going to trade me, are they?! It will be much harder to escape a pack than Lukai and Bo! Alarmed, I began to work again at the vines.
As I stood up, a limb from the branch that had held me snapped. The low growls from moments before stopped abruptly. I knew if I ran they might catch me, but what choice did I have? I bolted in the other direction, forgetting about Bo. He stepped out of hiding enough to grab me and pull me in. Trapped in his grip, I squirmed and tried to make as much noise as possible. It was no use. They were going to trade me away for who knows what. I heard the wolves approaching and stopped struggling, figuring that I may as well behave so as not to be punished any more than I was already going to be.
