Infiltration
And just like that, another epic arc comes to a close, and in the most promising way. Sorry for it being short, but the prison break arc was always meant to be short from the beginning, seeing as, once Shield died(may his soul rest in peace for all eternity), Markus would just lose it and go all "HULK SMASH" on the rest of the prison. But, with their escape came something truly amazing. Their joining with the freakin' League of Villains, baby! And I did warn you all about spoilers in the last chapter, if you weren't fully caught up with the MHA Manga. So yeah, despite how obvious it was, Dabi is in fact Touya Todoroki, Endeavor's oldest son who was believed to be dead. Anyways, that's all i'll say about that revelation. Let's just get back into the action and our next arc! Enjoy!
-POV: Third Person- -That Same Night-
While the Injustice Squad was becoming cozy with their new alliance with the League of Villains, others began to take action. Newly weds Rebecca and William Nevermore, also known as the vigilantes, Twilight and Pein, were gearing up for a late not operation. With Twilight accepting her new job at LOVTech, for espionage purposes, they had to relocate to New York city.
"And you're sure it was the actual, Injustice Squad?" Pein asked Twilight as he was putting on his black trench coat.
"Absolutely. I recognized all of them, and there's no way i'd forget Markus or that owl girl, Poppy." She replied as she finished putting on her black latex suit and purple visor.
"Shit. Any reason as to why Markus didn't rat you out?" Pein asked her as he put on his mask.
"No clue, but I definitely don't trust the guy. He'll spill the beans soon about me. So we're gonna have to push our plans up." Twilight told him as she loaded up her pulse guns and utility belt with ammo and gadgets.
"So what's the plan then? I know the place should be closed for the night, but I doubt that all of LOVTech is gonna be empty." Pein asked as Twilight pulled out her phone and displayed blueprints for the building on the screen.
"We go in through a ventilation shaft on the East side of the building. Inside, we'll be at development. That's where they make all those service bots. But we're heading to the top, right to the CEO's office. As far as I know, that will be the only computer in the entire building that's guaranteed to have the information we need." Twilight explained as she put her phone away.
"You really think this guy is hiding something?" Pein asked her.
"Victor Stroman is not to be trusted. It's far too suspicious that he rose LOVTech to this level in such a short time. He had to have done something within the time that the Injustice Squad was beaten and LOVTech producing those robots. And since he's now working with the Squad, that pretty much gives it away that he's up to something. So we go in, we download all the data we can get on this guy and everything else we can find, get out of there and send it all to Queen. I've already told her about the Injustice Squad being freed, so she and Endeavor are working on planning a take down. But we need to give them more info so they know what they're about to step into." Twilight explained as she grabbed her motorcycle keys.
The two set out into the streets of New York, heading over to LOVTech HQ. Victor Stroman was an eccentric billionaire who actually bought a third of central park to use as land to make LOVTech.
"So what's this Stroman guy like, anyways? You never really talk about your "job" other than that you can't find any info on the front computers." Pein asked Twilight as they rounded a corner, weaving in and out between cars.
"At first glance, he seems like a nice guy. But he's manipulative, he always gets what he wants in the end. I don't know how he does it but he is dangerous. If we can figure out whatever the hell he's up to, we can shut him, the Injustice Squad, and all of LOVTech down." Twilight told him as they took another corner and came to central park. They drove through the actual park section, despite, you know, it being illegal, until they came to LOVTech. They drove around an outside wall until they stopped at the East side. They parked their ride and hopped the wall, taking cover behind a dumpster to avoid being seen by a security camera. The cameras themselves move left and right, so the two had to wait 'til it was looking away to approach the building.
"Okay, let's go, now." Twilight said as the two bolted for the side of the building, reaching it just before the security camera made another pass around. "Ventilation shaft should just be to our left a bit. Let's keep moving."
The two crept along the edge of the building, staying out of sight of any and all cameras that were mounted along the walls. And once arriving at the vent, Twilight pulled out a tiny portable blowtorch from one of the pouches on her utility belt. She began cutting away the edges of the vent until it came loose. Pein caught the metal grating before it could fall and clang on the ground, putting it down gently next to them. And lucky for both of them, the vent was big enough to nearly stand in, so it was going to be easy and quick to traverse.
"We've gotta go about 60, maybe 70 feet before we get out of this thing. Once we're inside, keep your eyes peeled. If we're spotted, then the whole building will go on lockdown and we'll be unable to get out." Twilight told Pein as the two entered the vent, Twilight going in first. They couldn't fully stand so they were a bit hunched over, but they were still making quick progress.
"What in god's name is that awful smell?" Pein said as the two noticed there was indeed a rancid smell lingering through the vents.
"No clue. I got whiffs of it while I worked in the front lobby too. As far as I know, the smell comes from the lower levels of the building. But I have no idea what the hell they could be making down there." Twilight told Pein as they came to their drop point. Pein gently removed the grate and pulled it into the vent, allowing the two to quietly jump down a long white hallway that branched off in many places.
"Now where, boss?" Pein asked as Twilight looked to her comms device she had strapped to her right arm. It displayed the blueprints of the building, and she used it to locate the nearest staircase.
"Stairs should just be at the end of this hallway. Come on." She said as the two crept their way down the hall.
"Probably a dumb question but, wouldn't it just be easier to take an elevator to the top?" Pein asked but Twilight shook her head.
"Elevators in this place aren't normal in this place. You can only use them to go onto floors you're authorized to be on. I only have the right to be on floors 1-3, so we can't use it to go up." Twilight explained as they made it to the end of the hall and entered the staircase. "This set of stairs doesn't quite go to the top floor. Once we get up there, we'll have to find the next set."
When the two eventually arrived at the top of the stairs, they entered onto the 50th floor. But as they went to round a corner, Twilight quickly stopped and pulled herself and Pein back around the corner.
"Camera?" Pein asked as Twilight gave him a nod.
"Yep. Was looking the other way though." She said as they heard a door open in the stairwell they just came from. And the footsteps they could hear were coming closer.
"Shit. We need to move. That camera looking the other way yet?" Pein asked as Twilight looked around the corner. The camera was just beginning to look away from them, meaning they could make their move.
"Let's go, right now. Stick close to me." Twilight said as the two went around the corner just as the person came up onto their floor from the stairwell. The two crept under the camera, waiting for it to pass back to looking the other way so they could advance.
"Come on, come on, turn already." Pein thought as they heard the person getting closer. But finally, the camera turned and the two went into an empty room to wait for the person to pass by. It was a security guard, and he went down the hallway to the next stairwell.
"Terrific. Looks like we'll need to take care of that guy before we get to the top." Twilight said as they heard something move in the room they were hiding in. Both turned, with Twilight pulling our her pulse guns. But the two felt better when they saw it was just a service bot cleaning up the room.
"Fucking dumb robot. Christ, thought it was a person." Pein said as Twilight put away her guns.
"Come on, let's keep moving. That next stairwell should take us close to the top." Twilight said as they went to leave the room. But once they did and closed the door; standing on the other side of the door was Victor Stroman. The vigilantes pulled out their weapons, Twilight with her pulse guns, and Pein with his brass knuckles.
"Tell me, did you two really think you could come into LOVTech HQ and not be noticed?" Stroman said as the two looked at each other, then behind them but they saw no one else around. No guards at all were surrounding them.
"Yeah, kinda. Did pretty well too if we got about halfway up the building." Pein said, cracking his fingers a bit as Stroman just laughed at them.
Well, i'll agree with you there. You're apparently experts at avoiding our mounted security cameras. But terrible at not getting noticed by our mobile cameras." Stroman told them.
"What the hell are you talking about? How did you find us?" Twilight asked as she walked up and pressed the end of one of her guns against his head.
"I knew you two were in the building the moment you dropped out of that ventilation shaft. And it was all thanks to one of these." Stroman told them as he picked up a service bot that was cleaning near his feet.
"I see. So those things have hidden cameras in them. Now I see how you get all your outside information all the time, and how you were able to find the Injustice Squad." Twilight said to him as Stroman raised a brow in surprise.
"Oh? So you know of them joining us here at LOVTech, do you? Truly a remarkable group of individuals, aren't they?" Stroman said in a calm manner, despite having a gun pressed to his forehead.
"Cut the chit chat. You're about to make things easier for us here. And if you do what we say, then we won't hurt you, understand?" Pein told him as Victor, without hesitation, gave them both a nod.
"Fine by me. Just don't rough up the suit, okay?" Stroman replied as Twilight turned him around, keeping her gun at his head as she pushed him along to the nearest elevator.
"You have authorization to all floors, I know you do. So take us to the CEO's office." Twilight ordered as Stroman flashed his ID card over a control screen for the elevator.
"Top floor, please." Stroman said in a calm manner as they entered the elevator and began making their way to the top of the building.
"Try anything funny and I will not hesitate to shoot you." Twilight said to him as Stroman just played with his fingers.
"Don't worry, I fully understand. Oh, and by the way, how was the wedding?" Stroman asked them both as they looked to each other with a bit of shock in their eyes.
"What the hell are you talking about?" Pein asked him, trying to sound like he was unsure.
"Well, you two are Mr. and Mrs. Nevermore, aren't you?" Stroman questioned as the two were absolutely blown away by the fact he knew who they really were.
"We don't know who those people are." Twilight said to him as Stroman just giggled to himself.
"Oh please, I ran your file as soon as I hired you, Rebecca. I know everything there is about you two. Nice to meet your husband, William, too." Stroman said as they both just sighed as they'd totally been found out. "The vigilantes, Twilight and Pein.... now what exactly are you two doing here in New York? I thought you took residence down in Philadelphia?"
"Shut up, Victor. Keep on talking and I may just shoot you." Twilight said to him as he just giggled some more.
"With what, a taser bullet? It won't kill me, deary. Now, tell me why you're here. Is it because you took my job offer? Or is it something else? A secret partnership perhaps? Hmm.... does the name, "Wrath Queen," ring a bell?" Stroman asked them as Twilight pressed her gun against his head even harder.
"I said for you to be quiet. That's enough out of you." She said to him as Victor gave the gesture of him zipping his lips shut.
"We're here." Pein said as they arrived at the top floor. They left the elevator and Stroman took them past the main conference room to the doors of the CEO's office.
"Well, here we are." Stroman said as he opened the doors. The room was very dark as the lights were off, but it was clear no one was inside as Twilight couldn't detect any other heat signatures with her visors infrared settings.
"Pein, on the computer. Start downloading. I'll keep watch of this prick." Twilight said as Pein sat down in the CEO's chair and turned on the computer. Twilight still kept her gun trained on Stroman who was as calm as can be.
"What do you hope to find by looking through our database?" Stroman asked them.
"Everything that you've been hiding from the world. I'm sure a guy like you did some pretty shady stuff to become a billionaire, but we're more looking into what you've done here at LOVTech. You see, there's some heroes out there who're just dying to know what's going on in here. And seeing as you've brought America's most wanted, the Injustice Squad into here, it makes them even more curious. So, we're taking all we can find, and maybe you now that we have you, and handing it all to them." Pein told him as Stroman just continued to giggle.
"Well, I certainly hope you find what you're looking for then." Stroman replied.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Twilight asked him as Pein started going through records and files on the computer. A bunch of images were flashing over the screen as they were being downloaded into a flash drive.
"Holy shit. Becca, you seeing this?" Pein said to her as she glanced over to the computer screen and saw a bunch of images of the League of Villains popping up, some more recent than others.
"Those images were supposed to be kept from the public. How the hell do you have them?" Twilight asked as she and Pein knew about the photos thanks to Queen and Endeavor.
"I know the right people. I know how to get what I want rather easily." Stroman said as the screen was then displaying footage of LOVTech's underground laboratory.
"What's this place on the screen?" Pein asked him.
"That's beneath the building. That's the main lab here. It's where our master is reviving, and where his army lies waiting." Stroman told them as they both just looked at him confused.
"Your master? And his army? Is that was all these test tubes are, they're filled with.... people? Are you doing actual tests on live people, ya psycho?" Twilight asked him as Stroman just continued to giggle away.
"Not people. We're creating perfection. A perfect soldier. Nomu. They are ready to deploy as we speak. And with Shigaraki awakening soon.... the world won't have any use for heroes." Stroman said as Pein finished his download and took out his flashdrive.
"Alright, we're good, let's get out of here. You too, motherfu-" Pein tried to say as the lights in the room suddenly turned on. Bursting into the room were dozens of armed guards, all carrying assault rifles and each aimed at Twilight and Pein. Twilight put her left arm around Stroman's neck and held her gun at the side of his head, hoping this would defer the guards from shooting them.
"Stroman was not the only one who knew you two infiltrated our HQ. The entire building was aware of your presence. Welcome, vigilantes." Touya said as he entered the room, along with Markus as they stepped past the guards.
"Oh shit.... you're-" Twilight tried to say but Touya interrupted her.
"Yes, I am Dabi from the League of Villains. And i'm not the only one from the League here as well. I am the CEO of LOVTech. So nice to finally meet our new secretary. Hello, Rebecca." Touya said to her as she kept her grip tight on Stroman.
"Guess I really didn't have to rat you out after all, eh, Twilight? Seems Victor and my cousin, Touya, knew all about you and your little boyfriend here." Markus said to them.
"Actually, that's husband now. And it doesn't really matter, because you're gonna let us leave this place." Pein said to them.
"Oh? And why is that? Because in case you haven't realized, we have you surrounded and at gun point." Touya said to them as Twilight hit a button on the side of her gun, some electric bolts starting to channel up and down its barrel.
"Because if you don't, then i'll kill Victor, here. My gun is filled with taser bullets, one each not being enough to kill a person. But the button I just pressed will let me fire my whole clip at once. That's more than enough voltage to kill a man thrice over." Twilight threatened but no one seemed worried at all.
"No, no, my dear. You don't have to do that. Why don't you put your little gun away for me, alright?" Stroman said to her as Twilight suddenly holstered her gun.
"And while you're at it, do you mind letting me go? Thank you." Stroman asked as she removed her arm from him and let him casually walk back over to Touya, Markus, and all the guards.
"What the hell? It's like I.... I was doing what he said, even though my mind was saying not to listen." Twilight said in utter shock as they were now defenseless and had no bargaining chips left in the room filled with armed guards.
"Doesn't matter if you wanted to listen to me or not. You wanted to know how I've gotten everything I've ever wanted in my life, correct? Well, the answer you're looking for is in my quirk." Stroman told them as the two then realized how his quirk worked.
Victor Stroman-Quirk: "Persuasion" He can persuade anyone of or to do anything, even to the point of committing suicide. He must be talking in person for this quirk to take effect, and it does not work on people who have strong enough wills.
"He can just tell anyone what to do..... and they have no choice but to do it." Pein said with a bit of fear in his voice as Stroman began to clap for them.
"Bravo, you two. You figured me out." Stroman said to them.
"How much time until Shigaraki's revived!?" Twilight demanded to know as she pulled out her guns and aimed them at Stroman.
"Just a little over 24 hours at this point. Not enough time for you two to get all that info you stole from us to Queen and then have them come here to attack. They'll arrive too late, and Shigaraki will have already awakened, and then kill them all. It's as plain and simple as that, my dear." Stroman explained to them.
"You'd be surprised how fast we get things done." Pein replied as he went to use his quirk, beginning to take in all of Twilight's bad and painful memories.
"Ah, an interesting tactic. I have a feeling you're going to stop doing that though. What do you think?" Stroman said to Pein as he stopped using his quirk.
"Not a bad effort, but it's useless when all Stroman has to do is speak a simple sentence. You two are through." Touya said as the guards began to move in on the two.
"Yeah, well, if we're going down, then at least we'll take some of you with us!" Twilight shouted as she fired her supercharged taser bullet at Stroman. But before it even got halfway across the room, Markus intercepted by firing a Crush blast from his right hand. He struck the bullet and destroyed it, but his blast kept on going for Twilight.
"BECCA, MOVE!!!" Pein screamed as he shoved Twilight out of the way and took the blast for her. But the force of it was so strong that he was launched back and through a window. And all Twilight could do was watch as her life partner screamed and fell into the darkness below.
"NOOOOOOOOO!!!!" Twilight wailed as she sat next to the edge of the window, not wanting to believe what just happened. But she was soon swarmed by the guards and detained, having all her gear taken away, even her visor as she was taken before Stroman. "YOU FUCKING BASTARD, I'LL KILL YOU!!!"
"Oh deary..... you won't ever get the chance. Take her to Holding. And tell Toga she has a new toy." Stroman ordered a Twilight was taken away, with the rest of the guards returning to their posts.
"Kinda surprised you didn't have her killed. I'm assuming that means we have use for her?" Markus questioned as Stroman gave him a nod.
"Correct. When the time is right, she will be used a leverage against the heroes when they come." Stroman replied as Markus simply sighed at the response.
"You can't bet on that working. When me and my team took one of those P.H students hostage, things still didn't go well for us." Markus told him as Touya took his seat at his desk. He then hit a button on his desk which was connected to a personal P.A system.
"Samantha, send Red out to the south side of the building area. Have him find and retrieve the body of the other vigilante, please." Touya said through the system.
"Yes, sir. I'll get right on it." Samantha responded as Touya spun around in his chair to look outside, with Stroman and Markus standing on either side of him.
"The time nears, gentlemen. Soon, the world will be ours. In about 24 hours, the heroes won't be able to defeat us." Touya said as, unknown to everyone, down on ground level, Pein was still alive. He was lucky enough to have landed in a deep enough pond to partially break his fall. And he was now crawling out of the water, coughing up blood as he used a tree to get up to his feet.
"Gotta.... get.... the data.... to the.... heroes....." Pein said to himself, trying not to lose consciousness as he limped his way over to where they had left their motorcycle. Unfortunately, Twilight had the keys on her, so Pein had to try and hotwire the bike to start. But he was able to get it going and get on. He took off but, instead of heading back to his home to try and transfer the data, he instead got onto the nearest highway South and hit a turbo speed button for the motorcycle. With him figuring it would take longer to transfer the data than to drive it down to the heroes, he planned to drive all night until he arrived at P.H Academy in Philadelphia. "Just hang on.... hang on, Becca...... I'll get the heroes..... i'll get backup.... we'll be back.... and i'll kill those.... sons of bitches..... i'll get you out of there..... i'll.... save you....."
