Expendable
And the Big three have sprung into action! Namiko was first to strike, showing off her impressive Nature Force(Avatar basically) quirk! And Bullet was pretty impressive too, considering all he could do was punch really fast. And we finally have the return of our first Injustice Squad member! Yes, Poppy is back! And it seems she's, well, left the Squad. Yep, she just went back to working for Vassago. One can only wonder how she'll do against the leader of the three, Kurian. Only reason I say that is because we're actually looking past it for this chapter and moving over to our resident swordsman. Now, let's get right back into the action! Enjoy!
-POV: Marimo-
"Hmm, looks like our walkie signal is pretty shit down here. That's annoying...." I said to myself, trying to contact the others with my walkie talkie, but only getting static. "Oh well. Just means more fun for me if i'm fighting all alone."
"What do you mean you're still fighting those stupid student heroes!? All ya gotta do is shoot them! How hard can that be!?" I heard a man shout from the end of my hallway. I could see it was going to open up into a much larger room, and I stopped just before it to peer around the corner. Standing next to a bunch of wooden and metal crates was our target. Vassago is here. "They're just kids! Take care of them so we can fucking get this shipment out! Our client is our most important, we can't let some heroes slow us down! Kill them and get the Trigger the fuck out of here!"
"Must be some phone he's got if he's got a signal down here..." I thought to myself as I waited 'til he turned his back to me to creep over behind a metal crate.
"You don't fucking understand, obviously. This client will kill all of us if we don't deliver this supply. And if we don't meet the conditions, then I will kill you before they do. We need this gig to pay off." Vassago shouted into his phone as I quietly unsheathed one of my swords from my left side and waited for him to come a little closer to me. And as he walked past the crate I was hiding behind, I came out of hiding, grabbed the back of the jacket he wore with my free hand, and then held my sword up to his neck. He looked just a bit shocked, but he seemed to stay calm for most of it. "Hang on, i'll call you back. Seems I have yet another client now."
"Alright, asshole, i'm gonna have to ask you to come quietly, otherwise i'll have to resort to getting violent with you. And believe me, right now, there's nothing I would love more than to get violent." I threatened him as he just started to laugh.
"You think i'm afraid of you, kid? Do you know who I am? And besides, I'm not the only one in a compromised position here." Vassago said to me as I looked down and saw, in his left hand, he was holding a gun backwards, aiming it right at my left lower chest area. "Now let me go. If not, then I will not hesitate to fire."
"Alright, I see how it is...." I calmly said as I lifted my sword away from him and took a few steps back. Vassago turned to face me and rubbed his neck a bit before starting to chuckle. "So what now, tough guy?"
"Now, I walk out of here with my shipment." He said to me as he fired at me. But, in the literal blink of an eye, I swung my blade up and sliced the bullet right in two. Vassago looked shocked a bit to see I was fast enough to even keep up with a bullet fired at just over 10ft away.
"Yeah, I don't think so. I and the rest of my team came here to arrest you, dickweed. And we are not leaving until we have you in our custody." I said as I unsheathed my other blade from my right side. "So make your move, Vassago. It's the only way you've even got a chance of escaping me."
"Listen kid, there's people in this world that are far more terrifying than me. If there was even a chance you could take me down, then there'd be no point. As far as i'm concerned, i'm at the bottom of the threat list, and i'm not lying. Villains are on the move in this day and age. The Injustice Squad was the spark, and now, a bigger threat has emerged." Vassago said to me while keeping his gun locked on my head.
"Blah, blah, blah, I don't give a fuck about any of this. I just do my job, and I don't care about the details. I don't care if you're a big dog or a fucking goldfish, i'm just doing what I was ordered to do. So why don't you shut the hell up already so we can cut to the chase?" I said to him as he just rolled his eyes and sighed.
"Fine, have it your way. Die." Vassago replied as he shot at me again. However, like before, I swung my blades and deflected the bullet away. Vassago kept it up though, shooting at me but the result would end the same each time. I made some ground on him too, advancing forward with every sword swing, until I was finally close enough to swipe at him. Vassago stepped back though as expected, so I repositioned my blade mid-swing and cut off the end of his gun.
"Cheeky bastard. Fine then. If it's a sword fight you want, then it's a sword fight you'll get." Vassago said to me as, from his forearms down, his arms turned into swords. My Savage Blade quirk is quite impressive, no? I can turn my arms into several different types of blades weapons. So let's see if you can handle any of them, shall we?"
"Now that's more like it. Would've been disappointed if all you had was that gun of yours!" I replied as I charged him, crossing my blades in front of me as he took the first swing. He thrusted his right arm blade straight at me, but I caught it in between my two swords. I swung them up, taking Vassago's blade with them but he came at me again and tried to impale me with his other arm. I countered by sliding my right sword back down and meeting his, the two locking as we both brought our other arms back down. "You're not half bad. But your technique is sloppy."
"No shit, Sherlock. I'm not holding swords like you, they're my fucking arms. I can't bend or reposition them as well, idiot." Vassago replied as he raised his left leg up and kicked me right in my gut. He made me stumble back until I hit the side of a wooden crate.
"Yeah, I can work with this!" I said as I stabbed both of my swords into the crate and then lifted it above my head. I then swung my swords down, swinging the crate as it slid off my swords and flew for Vassago.
"Oh shit!" I heard him shout as he swung one of his arm blade straight up. He chopped the crate in two, nice and clean down the centre as both sides went right past him. Hundreds of vials of the Trigger drug flew out and splattered the floor we stood on. "You fucker! Do you realize how hard this shit is to make!? That one crate cost more than your fucking house and car combined!"
"Oops." I replid with a bit of a smirk on my face as Vassago's face was beginning to turn red.
"Oops!? That's all you have to say!? I might've let you live before because i'm on a tight schedule, but now i'm gonna chop you into teeny tiny pieces!" Vassago roared in a fury s he charged me. His bladed arms changed shape as he came at me though, now looking like two long sickles.
"Those look a lot more fun! So show me what you can do with them!" I shouted as he swung both at me in a cross slash. I crossed my own swords in front of me and we both clashed and locked blades. However, my swords were locked with the bottom of the curves of Vassago's sickles. This meant his blades were actually reaching past my swords and were fairly close to my head.
"Just.... gotta.... push..... into your..... eyes!!!" Vassago shouted as he tried to push hard against me to jam his sickles into both my eyes.
"Not..... gonna...... happen!!" I yelled back as I kicked him right in the chest and made him stumble back into the side of a metal crate. I then swung one of my swords over my shoulder and threw it right at Vassago. But he leaned his head to the left and watched as my blade injected itself into the hard steel of the container. "Not exactly how I wanted that to go."
"Will you stop damaging these god damn containers, prick!? God, you've probably punctured even more Trigger inside them! You're fucking wasting away millions of dollars with every action you take. Do you even think about what the smart thing to do is, ever!?" Vassago asked me as he turned his right arm blade back into its normal straight sword form.
"Not really my style. I just do whatever the hell I feel is right. Being down one sword isn't really gonna change much though." I told him as I took a ready stands, holding my one blade in front of me with both hands.
"It really is going to be that much more satisfying when I kill you now. Everyone's gonna be thankful I slaughtered a prick like you!" Vassago roared as he charged me. He jumped a bit to his left and then leaped off the side of a wooden crate with his leg, lifting his straight sword arm over his head. He brought it down as he came at me. I crossed my blade over my head as our weapons collided, sparks flying off a bit. "Nice block, but I've still got a free hand to attack with, dumbass!"
Vassago used his sickle arm to swipe at my legs. However, I jumped over the blade as he went for his swing. And when I landed, I crouched quickly and took the pressure off of Vassago's other arm, making him stumble forward from his own momentum. He tripped right over me and this allowed me to quickly walk over and pull my second blade out of the metal crate I had thrown it into. I then turned to see Vassago only just getting up.
"Dude, you're starting to bore me. I thought you were the boss around here? Shouldn't you be like, I don't know, stronger than all your subordinates and henchmen? 'Cause you seem pretty weak to me." I said to him, kinda hoping it would infuriate him a bit more to get him pumped up.
"Is that what you think of me, ya prick? Then perhaps it's time I show you why I am the one who runs things in this industry." Vassago said as his two bladed arms changed forms again. Now, they both dawned curved edges, each with rotating serrations running along them. Literal chainsaw katanas.
"Finally, something that looks like it might be worth my time." I said as I prepared my swords to do battle once more. This time, I made the first move, charging Vassago as I brought both of my weapons to my right side. I swung them when I neared and my enemy went to block with just his left arm. And, he was actually able to successfully block my attack as well. Our blades clashed and he pushed back, his serrated blades even beginning to cut through my own swords. I pulled back and jumped away a bit to inspect the damage. He'd cut through nearly half of both of the blades I was using.
"You fucker, I just got these things earlier today!" I howled in a rage as I gripped my swords tighter. He just made this personal.
"Aw, does the baby want to cry? Well too bad, prick. Now you know how it feels. You destroy my Trigger, I break your toys." Vassago said as he scrapped his serrated blade arms together a few times, making sparks and taunting me to come at him again.
"Then maybe it's time I finally get a little serious. What do ya think?" I asked Vassago as he just kept that pissed off glare locked on me.
"What the hell are you talking about? You sayin' you've been playing around this whole time? Is that it?" He replied as I gave him one smug nod.
"Bingo. You banged it. Don't know how long it took for you to realize, but I haven't used my quirk at all yet during this little fight of ours. So let's see how far ahead of you it gets me." I said as I indeed did activate my quirk. 4 spirit arms, all radiating a purple glow, grew on my body, two around my rib cage area, and the other two from the back of my shoulders. And with all four, I reached back with them and unsheathed the four swords that were strapped to my back. "So much for dual wielding, am I right?"
"So you've got six swords. So what? You're far from the first wannabe hero to try and take me down, and I guarantee you will not be the last. I will break those little toys of yours one by one before I kill you. I want to see your face grow in despair as you come to realize that you cannot beat me. And when I feel I've done enough to you, I will remove your head from your body and mount you on my wall." Vassago threatened me as it all just made me laugh.
"Man, has anyone told you that you talk too much? Like, seriously? Blah, blah, blah is all I hear from you. Stop fucking talking and get to what's really important." I said to him as I crossed all six of my swords in front of me. "Now come at me!"
"With pleasure! I want your head!" He replied as he rushed me, holding both of his bladed arms out as he came at me. And once he was within striking distance, he attacked. He whipped his right arm first, and I went to block with two of my swords on my left side. I locked his arm in between the two swords and did the same with his left arm when he went to strike with it. And when I had him where I wanted him, I used my shoulder arms and pointed the ends of my blades at Vassago's head, keeping them mere inches from his face.
"If I weren't a hero, then I would gladly stick these two "toys" of mine, as you call them, right into your eyes. So be thankful that I have at least some sense of mercy. Still, this is gonna hurt!" I said as I flipped my swords around, now pointing their grips at him as I smashed them against the top of his skull. This knocked him back a bit and gave me an opening on him again. I rushed Vassago and came right up on him, then injected two of my swords into the ground on either side of me, lifted myself up in a crouching position, and then thrusted my legs straight into his face. I sent him flying back into a wooden crate which he actually burst through with relative ease. Vials of Trigger broke apart and oozed the serum everywhere, with Vassago laying in a pool of the purple liquid. "Stay down. That's your only warning."
"No..... way...." I heard Vassago say as he slowly began to get back up. He lifted his upper body first so he'd be sitting up, then pushed himself up to his feet. He turned his arms back to normal though, and then I watched as he crouched down and picked up a vial of Trigger that hadn't been broken yet.
"So what now, big shot? Gonna take your little drug and possibly even the playing field?" I said, clanging my swords a bit, trying to get him riled up again.
"You know, I was born into this business. My father was the boss of our little cartel before me. Unfortunately, the worst villain of all caught up with him. He passed away a few years ago from lung cancer. And so, the reigns to our operation were given to me when I was only 14 years old. You have no idea what it's like to live through this type of world. Those first 14 were brutal, but the 6 afterwards? Those were life draining. My father wanted to make a drug that he could actually sell to both sides, and he got the idea from some guy named Overhaul he met over in Japan a few years back. We made a drug that boosts the effects of a person's quirk for a short amount of time. And shortly after it was completed, time caught up with him. I wanted to live out what we had planned, but I came to the realization that if I were to try and sell this drug to the heroes, then they'd shut us down. So, I only focused on the villain side. And it's kept us going for half a dozen years now..." Vassago explained to me as I just yawned from boredom.
"Is this going anywhere? Can we just get back to fighting, please? I'm gonna fall asleep here." I told him as he just chuckled a bit.
"Relax, i'm almost done, prick. Anyways, with notoriety of our drug, we caught the eye of some very important individuals. And upon meeting them, we came to an agreement. I supply them with the Trigger they require, and in return, they fully fund the production of the drug. But it all came with a warning as well. Should I fail, then they will find me, no matter where I hide.... and they will kill me. So now you see why I can't be stopped here. I have too much on the line to lose now. I don't want to die." Vassago said as he opened the vial and drank it all before tossing it away. "So that's why you must."
Vassago then turned his arms to blades once more, in their straight sword form. However, the blades now glowed with a dark aura.
"Some power up. Your swords glow, big whup. It's still 6-2, idiot." I said to him as he just chuckled away.
"Sure, you think that. It'll be the last confident thought you ever have." Vassago said as he suddenly whipped one of his arms in an arcing motion at me. After the full swing, his right arm blade launched a wave of dark energy at me.
"What the hell!?" I questioned as I went to block the attack. I used my lower right sword and it made contact with the wave, but just the one strike snapped my sword in two.
"One down...." Vassago said to me as he fired more and more dark waves at me. I had to jump and even dive out of the way of them to avoid anymore of my swords breaking, but even that could only last so long. After I dove, Vassago intercepted by firing a wave at me before I landed on the ground. I had no choice but to sacrifice another one of my swords. The wave his my lower left blade this time and deflected off it into the ceiling, but still, the impact from the wave caused my sword to snap.
"Two down...." Vassago told me as he stopped firing and came running at me.
"That's better, swords are meant to clash!" I shouted as I rushed him as well. The two of us met and we both swung our left blades at each other, my remaining two on that side swinging simultaneously at him. But as our blades clashed, Vassago's literally cut through mine like butter, snapping them both in a swift motion as he slashed a straight line clean across my upper chest. He then kicked me back into the side of a metal crate as I held my chest wound, blood seeping onto my left hand.
"That's four. Only two left. And when you reach zero, it'll be your head!" Vassago said to me as he came running at me once more. I deactivated my quirk and made my spirit arms disappear, then I grabbed my second sword on my right side with my left hand to wield them both.
"All I need is one sword to beat you, asshole! But these two should be more than enough!" I yelled as I pushed off the crate and leaped into the air. I raised my left sword above my head and swung it down at Vassago who raised up his right arm blade and crossed it over his head. But as I made my swing, the moment my sword touched his, mine broke apart, literally shattering to pieces as I landed right in front of Vassago who brought his other arm to his side. He then swung his left arm blade at me and smashed it into my face using its flat side. He knocked me down and I landed on my chest, and all I could hear was Vassago laugh at me.
"This is what you deserve, prick. Honestly, you should be thankful for what i'm about to do to you. It'll save you from the horrors that the future will bring!" I heard him say as I glanced behind me to see him reeling back his left blade. And as he went to thrust it, I quickly turned onto my back and watched as he stabbed me right in gut. I let out a quick groan, trying to hold back the pain as much as possible as Vassago just looked confused.
"What was the point of turning over? You didn't have time to block or attack me, so I don't see any point to doing that at all." He questioned me as I gave him a cheeky smile, with blood beginning to show through my teeth.
"Scars on the back are a swordsman's shame. If I were to let you harm my backside, then i'd have no right to call myself a true hero. I'll never show my back to anyone. And I sure as hell won't start with you!" I shouted at him as I spit some blood onto his eyes. It blinded Vassago for the moment and it made him stumble back, making his arm blade slip out of my gut. The pain was unreal, but even so, I used my only remaining sword to push myself back up to my feet.
"Son of a bitch!! I don't give a crap about your honor or whatever the fuck you wanna call that bullshit! Just lay down and die just like all the other heroes in this world!!" Vassago said as he wiped away the blood and then came running at me, reeling back both his arms for a double impalement. In contrast, I sheathed my sword on my left side, gripping it tightly with my right hand as I took a ready stance.
"Ultimate Move...." I said as I activated my quirk, creating my spirit arms but using their energy and flowing it into my last sword. And, as Vassago came up to me, he thrusted his two arm blades. But, at the last second, I leaned my upper body back as far as I could while still maintaining my footing. I watched as his blades went right over my body, just barely missing my face as I prepared to strike.
"Spirit Moon Slice!!!" I roared as I quickly drew my sword and swung it in an arcing motion, making contact with Vassago's right arm blade, then his left before I completed my full circular swing. I then sheathed my sword again as Vassago's arms, from the elbows down, fell off him and landed on either side of me.
"AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!" Vassago wailed as he fell down onto his back, blood spewing from his arms as he flailed around, trying to crawl away. But I stopped him by stepping down onto one of his legs. I then drew my sword once again, pointing it at his face. He froze in fear as I did nothing but smirk at his defeat.
"Consider yourself disarmed." I told him as he just leaned his head back and sighed in absolute defeat. "Now, if you'll stop trying to resist, I can help with those wounds."
Vassago stopped squirming which gave me the sign he was willing to listen now. So, I stepped away from his leg and then crouched down next to him. I lifted up his upper body and held his arms straight out. I then took off my mask and wrapped it around both of his arms very tightly. It stopped the bleeding for the moment as blood stopped spewing everywhere.
"God, you're such a prick..... you know that? But even so.... I have..... to thank you.... for helping me.... in this situation....." Vassago told me, still in agonizing pain as I lifted us both up onto our feet.
"Don't thank me. I'm still taking you in. What you can be thankful for is the prison you'll be kept in. That should protect you from whoever's going to try and kill you." I told him as I began to walk us out of hear, heading towards the hallway I came from. But before we even took 5 steps, we suddenly heard clapping coming from somewhere. I turned us around and we saw a black hole filled with ooze had spawned on the ground. And rising from it and into the room was a man i'd recognize all too well. When he was fully out of the ooze, totally clean btw, no gunk on him at all, and with the hole closing, Victor Stroman of LOVTech stood before us.
"What were you saying about me being protected?" Vassago questioned me as I felt his body begin to shake.
"My, my, my, this is not what I was expecting to find. When I overheard that P.H was sending in a pro and 6 of its top students, I still half expected you to make it out fine, Vassago. And yet here you are, a broken man with stumpy little arms. You're truly pathetic." Stroman said to him as I gently put Vassago down on the ground, sitting on his knees. I unsheathed my sword and pointed it at Victor who just chuckled to himself at my actions.
"So you're the one who's going to kill this guy, is that right? Well sorry, scrawny, but i'm gonna have to cut you down to size just like I did to Vassago." I told him which just made Victor laugh even more.
"Oh my lord, you're just adorable, you know that? Honestly, your little threats are so cute, thinking you can best me. No, I don't think so. In fact, I don't really think this is the right time for swordplay. Wouldn't you agree?" Victor asked me as, without hesitation, I sheathed my sword.
"Wait, what? Why the hell did I just put my weapon away? I had no reason to, so why did I do it?" I thought to myself as Victor began to walk around, inspecting the damage to the Trigger all around the room.
"Stroman, p-please. If you kill this prick.... then I promise, i'll get you that last shipment! Please, just give me another chance!" Vassago begged as Stroman just shot him a glare.
"That's quite enough, boy. You're in absolutely no shape at all to even consider those things an option. You're useless to us now. And besides, we're close enough to the level of Trigger supply we need. So this loss is very minor to us." Stroman said, inspecting his nails now.
"And who the hell is this "us?"" I asked him as I went to take out my sword again. But for some reason, anytime I wanted to grab it, my body would just say "no."
"The League of Villains, sword boy. And in just a few short days, our glorious leader, Tomura Shigaraki will awaken from his ever so long slumber. The Injustice Squad had their fun, but now, it's our turn to show the world what we're truly capable of. No hero will survive the oncoming storm that is our fury." Stroman told me as I ran at him without hesitation, reeling back my right arm to punch him in the face.
"We'll see about that, scrawny! I'm taking you out right here and now!" I shouted as I threw my punch at him.
"You're going to miss all of your attacks." Victor said to me as my punch suddenly curved and went right past his head. I tried punching him again in multiple spots but my fists would literally redirect themselves to always miss him. What the hell was this guys quirk!?
"It won't work, kid. He's.... he's using you like a puppet.... you can't harm him...." Vassago told me as I stopped trying to attack him, accepting that no matter what I tried, it wasn't going to work.
"That's better. Now then, take out your sword." Stroman told me as I blindly did as told and unsheathed my sword once more. "Now go over to Vassago."
I walked over to him until I was behind him.
"Now kill him for me. Won't you please?" Victor asked in a kindly tone as I raised my sword over my head, looking down at Vassago who turned himself around to face me.
"No scars on the back..... isn't that right? So.... get it over with.... you little prick....." Vassago said to me as I swung my blade down from the left. In one swift motion, I decapitated Vassago and watched as his head rolled along the floor and his body slumped over on the side.
"Well done, sword boy. Well done indeed." Victor said as he clapped for me.
"What the hell have you done to me? Why can I not control myself? And why the hell are you telling me all this? About the league of villains?" I asked him as that same black oozing hole appeared beneath his feet. He sank into it slowly as he finished clapping.
"Why, sword boy? Because you're going to forget everything that happened from the moment I arrived here." Victor told me as he fully submerged into the hole. The hole then disappeared as my vision went blurry for a second, and a massive migraine hit me. But it all quickly stopped as I shook my head and stumbled a bit.
"What the hell just happened?" I questioned as I looked around. But I dropped my sword in shock when my eyes locked with what remained of Vassago, his head now missing.
"Wha!? But.... but how did this happen!? I didn't.... no, I couldn't have done this! I.... I..... I must've blacked out from blood loss.... and then someone came and kill him...." I said to myself as I heard footsteps approach from the hallway. I turned around and saw Namiko come into the room, a look of horror on her face as she looked like she wanted to scream.
"What did you do?" She asked me, her voice a little shaky and scared.
"No, please wait, it wasn't me, I swear!" I told her. But she saw no one else around except for me and the now dead Vassago. There was no one else to blame here. As much as even I didn't want to believe it..... I did this.
"WHAT DID YOU DO!?"
