Quirk: Hair Manipulation

- (y/n)'s POV -

The entire class asides from Midoriya waited in the wing of the stage, getting prepped for our concert at the school festival. I was incredibly nervous as Jirou had made me lead singer of the band, and I had never performed in front of people before, let alone the hundreds of people that had piled into the hall.

I was taking a few breaths to try and calm my nerves, as it was only the band members who had heard me sing during practice. My hair was unwillingly turning white, revealing the fact that nerves were overtaking my body. "You'll do great, I'm sure," a deep voice said beside me, and I turned to see Todoroki stood there with a somewhat comforting smile on his face.

"Thank you Todoroki," I whispered, nodding.

"C'mon Todoroki, we gotta get into position!" Kirishima called out to him. As Todoroki was a part of the special effects team, he was going to be on the walkways above the crowd, getting ready for Aoyama's cue to shoot ice for him to shine his laser at. I waved at the pair as they walked off, before turning back to the stage and breathing in a deep breath, readying myself for the crowd. A little bit of confidence had come back to me thanks to Todoroki's simple words of encouragement, and my hair slowly turned orange at the roots to signify this.

- Todoroki's POV -

"Bet you wanna be on stage with her, huh?" Kirishima said as we walked to the stairs that led to the walkways above.

"Huh?"

"It's so obvious that you like her dude," Kirishima said. My eyes widened and looked at the ground, trying to stop a blush coming to my face.

"No I don't," I lied.

"Well that's a shame, because you'd so totally have a shot with her," he said, opening the door for me as the two of us walked onto the platforms.

"You think?" I asked, quite surprised and he just nodded.

"Yeah dude! Oh look, Koda's already up here, c'mon," Kirishima said, running ahead. I was thinking deeply about (y/n), wondering whether there was a chance or not of me actually acting on my feelings for her. Everyone on the walkways got into position: Sero readying his tape for Uraraka, Koda with his birds flying around him and Kirishima ready to slice up my ice.

We all looked down at the stage as the crowd quietened, and we saw the band position themselves. The lights came on and immediately my eyes landed on (y/n), who still seemed nervous due to her white hair. Bakugou started the beat, and it suddenly seemed as though a switch had been flicked as she excitedly started shouting out to the crowd, despite her hair still being white.

The dancers came on stage, and when (y/n) began to sing my eyes widened and my jaw dropped. I had never been around whenever she was practicing her singing, so I had anticipated this moment but I never expected her to be so good. I noticed her hair began to turn orange as her incredible voice filled up the entire hall, apparently shocking everyone. It wasn't long before the crowds were cheering, and I couldn't take my eyes off of her. She had settled into the position of lead singer, and was definitely having a good time.

"Todoroki!" Kirishima nudged me.

"What?"

"You're staring at her!"

"No I'm not," I blatantly lied, looking away. Kirishima just laughed before announcing that Aoyama had been thrown into the air just as the first chorus dropped. Immediately I shot out my ice, Kirishima cutting at it so finely that it was turning into small misty sparkles, Aoyama's laser bouncing off of each piece. I glanced back down to (y/n) to see her smiling brightly as she sang, the upbeat song and the special effects apparently boosting her confidence.

Her hair was now bright pink as she danced with the remaining dancers on stage. I felt Kirishima's eyes on me, so looked away immediately and tried to focus on what I was doing. I had created more pathways making it easier for Sero to guide Uraraka around the hall with his tape, whilst (y/n)'s melodic voice still filled my ears and warmed my heart. I was truly captivated by her.

When the song came to an end and her voice fell silent, the guitars strumming their last note, the entire crowd went crazy. The band and the dancers bowed on the stage whilst I smiled down at the girl who I wanted to call my girlfriend. Another nudge on my arm told me that Kirishima had noticed. "Dude, just ask her out already," he had to shout over the cheers of the crowd.

"I can't, what if she turns me down?" I asked.

"But what if she doesn't?" He counteracted and I sighed, not sure that I wanted to take that chance. Once the clapping had died down, the band left the stage and the crowd dispersed, satisfyingly happy with the performance. The hall lights came back on, slightly blinding, and the four of us up on the walkways made our way down towards the rest of the class. I was more then ready to compliment (y/n) on her amazing singing. "Maybe you could ask to keep her company throughout the festival?" Kirishima suggested as we walked down the stairs towards everyone else. "It's a subtle way to get the chance to spend more time with her."

"Yeah, I suppose you're right," I mumbled, thinking that that was probably a good idea. "But what if she doesn't want me to keep her company all day?"

"Dude stop," he said simply, holding an arm out in front of me. "You have a chance with her, and spending today with her will boost your confidence and give you a perfect opportunity to check out the situation between you two. Just give it a go," he said. I simply nodded, then realising we were stood at the bottom of the stairs. I spotted (y/n), and she immediately ran up to the two of us.

"Todoroki! Kirishima! You two were amazing, that ice looked incredible! And the way Aoyama's laser made it sparkle looked truly beautiful!" She said excitedly, her hair being bright yellow at the roots and bright pink at the tips.

"Merci, mon ami!" Aoyama's voice sounded and (y/n) laughed, sending him and okay sign with her fingers.

"(y/n)-," my voice came out higher then expected, so I coughed as she turned back to me. "(y/n), your singing was incredible," I said quietly and she blushed a little.

"Thank you Todoroki," she smiled. "I was so nervous before but as soon as I saw everyone on stage, even you guys above, I felt confident again."

"It really was incredible, well done (y/n)! You showed the rest of the school how awesome class 1-A really is!" Kirishima said enthusiastically.

"Thanks Kirishima," she laughed her sweet laugh.

"Hurry up and clean you guys! We can't miss the rest of the festival! I won't miss the beauty pageant!" Mineta screeched, running all around the hall carrying my ice with him. (y/n) went to go pick up a large chunk of the ice that had fallen from the rafters, but I stopped her.

"Let me," I politely took the heavy piece from her, taking a leaf of chivalry from Kirishima's book.

"Thanks Todoroki-,"

"OI ICY-HOT! WE GOTTA MELT ALL THIS SHITTY ICE YOU MADE!" Bakugou's voice shouted through the halls as he dragged ice outside towards a large sinks. I just nodded, sending (y/n) one last smile before following.

- (y/n)'s POV -

Adrenaline still fuelled my body, and I was so excited for the rest of the festival. I helped Jirou and Tokoyami take the instruments off of the stage whilst the rest of the class worked together to clean up the mess we had made. In no time at all we had the place cleared out, and Present Mic came over to congratulate us on our performance. Even Mr Aizawa said he was impressed.

When finally out of that sweaty hall I stretched, the sunlight being harsh. I looked over to see Todoroki standing next to Bakugou by the sink, melting all of the ice. I smiled over to him, when suddenly Uraraka appeared in my vision. "You're looking at him again," she teased, poking my arm.

"No I wasn't!" I exclaimed, perhaps louder then I should've as a few heads turned in our direction. She just laughed.

"It's okay (y/n), I'm pretty sure he's interested in you too, especially after that concert," she winked.

"I doubt it," I said, the roots of my hair turning red from embarrassment. "C'mon, lets just enjoy the festival-,"

"(y/n)?" Todoroki's voice came, sending chills down my spine.

"Todoroki!" I gasped, turning to see him standing right there.

"I was wondering whether you wanted to walk around the festival with me? To see what the other classes are doing?" He asked with a small trace of a blush on his face.

"Aw, yeah I'd love to! Actually I was going to catch the beauty pageant first, did you want to come? Then we can go and check everything else out," I said and he nodded. Together the majority of the class walked over to the stage, where most of us supported Nejire Hado and her beautiful, elegant performance of her quirk. The gold trails she left in the sky looked truly stunning, and the way she manoeuvred made her look like a fairy. "I wish my quirk could be as beautiful as hers," I sighed, watching on as she continued to move like a fairy.

"I think it is," Todoroki's voice suddenly said and I looked towards him, surprised. His eyes were wide and his blush was obvious once he realised what he had said, but that only made me smile.

"Thank you Todoroki, that's sweet of you to say," I whispered. "Maybe I should enter next year," I added as a joke.

"I think you should, you definitely have a big chance of winning," Todoroki said, catching me off guard. He really was in a complimenting mood today.

"I'm not sure, but thanks anyway," I chuckled. The beauty pageant came to a close and everyone voted, the results being revealed later that evening. As a group we started wandering around together, me taking an adorable picture of the boys in all poking their faces through a cardboard cut out of the teachers at the school: Midoriya was of course All Might, Iida was Cementoss and Todoroki had taken the place of Nezu, which made me laugh loudly. The photo was adorable, and I couldn't help but chuckle every time I looked at it.

We all went to get food and it was then that we started to disperse into smaller groups. "I could do with some soba," I said, my stomach grumbling slightly. This turned Todoroki's head, and together we made our way to a specific food stall which sold the delicious food. "So where to next?" I asked after slurping up the noodles. Todoroki pulled out the festivals pamphlet and had a flick through.

"General studies have set up a haunted house, or there's the support course's exhibition?" He suggested.

"A haunted house? Wow that sounds awesome, lets go there!" I beamed excitedly and he nodded. Whilst in the queue we finished our soba and got ready to be spooked by the general studies department. "This is going to be so much fun," I said excitedly, clapping my hands together.

"I'm intrigued, I must admit. I wonder what they consider scary," Todoroki said and I shrugged.

"I guess we're about to find out," I said as the student at the gate let us in. We walked through the doors of the creepy manor into a hall which had elegant yet peeling wallpaper revealing the wooden panelling underneath, the carpets were scuffed and stained with what looked like blood, the chandelier was the only form of light and the bulbs were of course flickering. It was surprisingly eerie, and the door up the grand stairs towards the back of the room looked like where we should be headed.

They creaked as we climbed them, the pair of us looking over at each other carefully and remaining close. Eerie noises began playing around us, and as we stepped through the door we realised we were in a very long and very thin corridor. Chills ran up my spine as there were doors on either side, and scratches carved into the wood. Suddenly a door up ahead burst open making me jump and clutch onto my chest. "You alright?" Todoroki said and I laughed, calming down.

"Yeah, I'm fine," I said as we approached the door. We peaked into the frame to just see darkness until suddenly the door slammed shut again of its own accord, Todoroki having to pull me back so I wasn't hit by it. A similar creaking to that in the entrance hall began to play, and up ahead we saw a shadow appear just where the corridor turned. We stepped closer and I didn't realise I was holding onto Todoroki's hand tightly. Suddenly the shadow stopped, as did we, and it vanished.

We glanced at each other, unsure on what to make of it when suddenly a cold chill behind us caused us to turn around. We both shouted out in fright as behind us stood a grotesque figure, the both of us knowing it was a fake mannequin but still being scared enough to run. We ran down the corridor, turned the corner and saw that we weren't being followed. It was then that Todoroki realised we were holding hands and he pulled away awkwardly, muttering an apology.

"It's okay, I don't mind," I assured him.

"Then... would it be alright if I held it more?" He asked carefully and I simply smiled.

"Of course," I took the initiative and held onto his left had, the warmth being comforting. We took in our surroundings again and saw we were in another long corridor, a door open on the left. We approached it and had a peak inside to see it was a bathroom, the bath at the end of the room with the shower curtain closed. A hand suddenly appeared from behind it and began to pull the curtain back, the two of us getting very nervous. A girl I recognised as one from the general studies class was sat there, straight faced as she stood and got out of the bath, thankfully clothed.

A second later however she began to rot, her face almost melting and turning hideous. Both of our eyes widened, and a voice behind us made us jump out of our skins. "Boo," it said simply but we were both so spooked that we just ran down the rest of the corridor, Todoroki practically dragging me along as he was faster. As we ran doors opened and people jumped out at us - people even jumped down from the ceiling to scare us. The house was like a maze, but thankfully we soon saw the sign that said 'Leave this house and never return!'

Before we ran out however we turned back to see the corridor was empty. We looked at each other, wondering where everyone who had been chasing us had gone. The corridor lights flickered and when they came back on the place was filled with everyone again, making us both shout out in fight and run out of that place, our hearts beating fast.

As soon as we were back out into the sunshine we both collapsed on the grass, laughing and catching our breaths. "That was definitely interesting," Todoroki said with an adorable smile.

"You can say that again, I'm impressed by that class, they pulled it off really well," I laughed, standing and offering him my hand. He took it, and I pulled him up perhaps a little too forcefully as his body crashed into mine. "S-sorry," I said awkwardly, rubbing the back of my head as I let go of his hand.

"No, my fault," he whispered. We simply looked at each other for a moment before stepping away, Todoroki taking the pamphlet from his pocket again and looking through it as a distraction. "There's lots of different food stalls, fancy trying some of it out?" He asked and I nodded happily. We spent the rest of the day together, and as the day went on the closer we got, feeding each other different foods, him holding my hand as we walked around the support course's exhibition, us sitting close to one another as the judges announced Nejire the winner of the beauty contest.

Now the sun was setting and the festival was coming to a close, meaning that people were trying to make the most they could of everything that was there. Todoroki however tapped my shoulder to turn my attention away from the others who had joined us for the finale of the beauty pageant, and gestured me to go with him. I said goodbye to those we were with and followed Todoroki away from the festival. "Sorry, it was getting a little too crowded," he mumbled but I completely understood.

"Yeah, it's been a very busy day, that concert feels like years ago," I chuckled, popping one of the sweets we bought into my mouth. "Are you alright? You've been quite quiet for the past hour, as though something's on your mind."

"Well... yes, there is something on my mind actually," he said quietly.

"Would you like to talk about it?" I asked and he was silent for a moment. I didn't want him to feel uncomfortable, but before I said anything he spoke.

"I would like to talk about it... it's - er - it's about you," he whispered.

"Me?" I asked, nerves filling up my body, scared I had done something to upset him. Was it because we were holding hands a lot of the time today? Did he feel uncomfortable in my presence? Did he wish to have someone else's company?

"Yes... you see I think... actually, I know that I - er - well, I have feelings for you... romantically," he mumbled, so obviously timid. I could feel relief and happiness wash over me, my hair turning pink and red because of this. He noticed and seemed intrigued, and he relaxed from his tense form when he saw how much I was smiling.

"Really?" I asked, just to be sure.

"Really."

"Todoroki, I really like you too!" I beamed, immediately wrapping my arms around his neck and pulling him in for a tight hug which he reciprocated.

"Really?" He asked this time making me laugh a little.

"Really," I nodded, pulling my head away from where it was rested in his neck as we hugged. I looked him straight in his hypnotic eyes and sighed with relief, knowing now that my crush reciprocated the feelings I had. Without really thinking I leant up and pressed my lips softly against him, just for a simple yet passionate first kiss. He seemed slightly shocked at first, but happily kissed back, then pulling away with an obvious blush on his cheeks. "You look so cute when you blush," I teased.

"So do you," he said and it was then that I realised how hot my cheeks felt. "So, (y/n), will you be my girlfriend?" He asked and I nodded happily.

"Of course I will, Shoto," I dared to use his first name and by the way he smiled back at me I got the feeling he wanted me to call him that.

Together, hand in hand once more, we made our way back to the group who didn't seem all too surprised when we told them about us. They simply congratulated us, and together we spent the remainder of the festival and the rest of the evening together, cuddling and holding hands. It had been such an incredible day.
