13: Aizawa's Daughter

Quirk: Carbon Armour

Not many people knew that my father has a family. It's just my mother and me, but he prefers to keep quiet about us so he could protect us from villains easily, as being a pro hero as well as a high ranking teacher at UA attracted unwanted attention. To secure our anonymity my mother and I used her maiden name. When I received my place at UA on recommendation my father promised me it wasn't because he pulled strings. He also told me of how I was to treat him like a teacher and nothing more, but I had a feeling he was going to find it difficult treating me as just a student.

I had inherited my mothers quirk which she called Carbon Armour. This meant that the carbon atoms in my body rearranged themselves when I activated my quirk, and created a hardened black shield around my skin which was almost impenetrable. It would take a lot to break through it. Not only that, but when I activate it and cover my hands, my fingers turn into sharp blades, which is my form of attack, however I tried not to use that because it caused serious damage. Unfortunately this shield could not be held up forever. It takes a lot of energy for me to do so, and the more of the body it covers, the quicker I get worn out and the thinner the shield is.

Annoyingly, I had recently developed feelings for a certain red and white haired boy, but I couldn't show my feelings towards him not only because I was terrified of rejection, but because I was terrified of what my father would do. However after our camp with the Wild Wild Pussycats, I had passed out from using my quirk too much and when I woke up I had Recovery Girl on one side of me and Todoroki on the other. "Glad to see you're awake," he said, the corners of his mouth turning up slightly.

"Y-yeah... what happened?" I asked.

"They captured Bakugou-,"

"They did what?"

"I know... all of the teachers are already on a search to get him back, they've contacted the police and the other Pro Heroes. They'll find him, that's for sure," Todoroki said calmly.

"If he's not already dead," I breathed.

"Oh hush now, they'll be able to bring him back in one piece. If you feel strong enough now (l/n), you're free to go," Recovery Girl said, writing notes on her computer.

"Thank you," I said, as I hopped off of the bed. I followed Todoroki out of the room and down the hall to an empty balcony which overlooked the forest where only a mere hour ago was filled with all the students and masses of villains. "Thanks, Todoroki. I assume it was you that brought me back here in one piece."

"Yeah, no need to thank me though," he said. There was a sense of uncertainty in the way he spoke, and his silence was different then usual.

"Is everything okay?" I asked. "You can talk to me, I'm here for you, Todoroki," I assured him. He darted his eyes up towards me before saying the thing I least expected him to.

"(l/n) I like you, more then a friend, and I have done for some time. I'm not used to these feelings and it's taken me a while to accept them, but I hoped that maybe you'd..." his voice trailed off, apparently unsure of where to go.

"Are you asking me out?" I asked, feeling flustered but smiling. He nodded shyly, blushing himself, apparently not used to this kind of thing. "Yes, I'd love to go out with you... can we seal it with a kiss?" I asked playfully and he blushed even more, the tip of his ears going red.

"S-sure," he muttered, and I had to lean towards him as he was apparently very nervous and standing very still. I pressed my lips very gently against his, slowly moving them as he kissed gently back.

That night was three months ago, and in that time we had managed to get Bakugou back which earned me a very long and angry lecture from my father for being so reckless. In terms of Shoto and I, well we had almost gone all the way, but not yet. I had told my mother of him, and she understood to keep this information from my father. I had still not told Shoto that Aizawa is my father and frankly, I was too scared to.

We were walking from the dorms to the school hand in hand, me telling him about a dream I had last night. As I had a habit of going off on tangents when telling a story, I had only just finished it when we reached our classroom. Shoto slid the door open and I quickly snatched my hand away from his, earning a surprised look from him. Inside, my father was looking at the two of us as we walked in and went towards our seats. "Are you alright?" Shoto asked and I nodded my head, smiling.

"Absolutely," I said quickly, sitting down in my seat in front of him. All throughout class I could feel his stare on me, and annoyingly these kind of situations went on since our inception. When he'd kiss me in the corridor I'd have to awkwardly push him away, apologising, I'd have to snatch my hand away from him every time we left the dorms and I could only hug him quickly.

"(y/n), what's going on?" He suddenly asked as we sat alone in the common room, me leaning against him and reading my favourite book.

"Huh?"

"You've been acting weird since we've been going out, do you not want people to know we're together? You keep on pushing me away when we're at school," he said, a slight tone of pain in his voice. I closed my book and looked up into his eyes which bore into mine with slight sadness.

"Oh, Shoto, no, that's not what has been - I'm sorry, really, I am, how about tomorrow we... go over to my place for tea, and you can meet my parents," I mumbled, knowing it was about time he knew. He smiled softly and I leaned in to kiss him passionately, knowing it was rare for the teachers to come into the dorms.

"Fancy sleeping in my room tonight?" He asked, smirking.

"Absolutely," I said, a bit too quickly but he pulled me away from the common room and into his dorm room, where we had plenty of evening fun.

I had told my parents that I had invited a guest over for dinner that evening, so mum prepared a fancy diner, getting slightly dressed up for the occasion. Dad however did not bother, and wore his usual sweatpants and black jumper. I decided to get a little dressed up to, wearing a cute dress and plaiting my hair. The doorbell went and I rushed towards it, my parents following close behind. "Okay... mum, dad, are you ready to meet my boyfriend?"

"Boyfr-," dad was about to exclaim, and I opened the door.

"Hey (y-)," Shoto said, stopping dead when he saw my father. The two of them simply stared at each other, and I really wanted to know what was going through their minds. Thankfully mum was the one to break the silence.

"It's a pleasure to meet you," she said, holding out her hand.

"Y-you two, Ms (l/n)," Shoto said, still staring at my father.

"Please call me (m/n). Come on Shota, help me sort out the rest of dinner," she said, actually tugging on his arm to pull him away.

"Please tell me I'm hallucinating," Shoto said, turning to me.

"I'm sorry I didn't tell you! Our relationship at school is strictly student/teacher, and he doesn't want us to be targets for villains so few people know we're a family!" I said desperately.

"He is going to kill me, you know that," Shoto said seriously.

"No he's not, you're one of the best students in the class after all," I said, holding onto his hands.

"Todoroki," we suddenly heard from behind him. He turned slowly, meeting my fathers threatening glare. "So you've been dating my daughter? For how long?"

"We've been together since the Summer Camp," I mumbled and Shoto looked at me as if to say 'why would you tell him that?!'

"That long, huh? Hmm..." he said, eyeing up Shoto.

"Dinners ready!" My mother called and I sighed in relief. We all went to the table, and there was an awkward silence to begin with. I gulped as I mounted my plate with the food mum had cooked for us, offering everything to Shoto who took it politely.

"Your food is delicious, Ms (l/n)," Shoto said making my mother smile.

"You're such a gentleman, thank you, and please call me (m/n)," she insisted and Shoto nodded.

"You've been together for three months," my father suddenly said, and we all looked at him carefully. "How am I only just hearing of this?"

"W-well, I wasn't sure how you were going to react... I didn't want it to get in the way of your teaching..." I mumbled. I could tell Shoto was nervous although he'd never let his guard down. "He saved my life when we were on that trip, he carried me all the way back to Recovery Girl!"

"Mr Aizawa, sir," Shoto spoke up, and my fathers eyes narrowed. "I love your daughter. I will treat her with respect and kindness, and I will protect her with my life. She makes me so happy and I will try every single day to make her feel the same way. I hope you can accept me as your daughters boyfriend."

The table was quiet. I was speechless and waited with baited breath to find out what my father would say. Finally after what felt like a millennium, he spoke the words we wanted to hear. "Treat her right, and I'll accept you," he said, and I sighed happily, as I knew Shoto would always treat me right.

"Thank you sir, and I will," Shoto bowed slightly, and I beamed up at him, catching his eye as he gently smiled back. After that dad loosened a little, as we were able to talk casually throughout dinner, and luckily about more then just school. Thankfully, when we were back at school, my father still treated us both like students. We began to act a bit more like a couple whilst at school, but we were careful not to overdo it in front of my father, but everything seemed to be going well.
