Jealous -or- When Plans Backfire

[Deku tried to make his crush jealous feat. fake-dating-KiriDeku, one-sided-BakuDeku, and KiriBaku]

"H—hey, Kirishima?" Midoriya asked nervously, standing in the doorway to Kirishima's room, much to the redhead's surprise. "Can I... can I talk to you for a second."

"Sure dude, come on in," Kirishima stepped aside to let Deku into his dorm. It was strange for Midoriya to come knocking on his door. It wasn't like the two never talked, but usually it was during school, or in the dorm's common room. "What's up?"

"You're Kacchan's best friend, right?" Kirishima shrugged, if anyone could be called Bakugou's friend it was probably him.

"I like to think so," he agreed.

"I... well I kind of..." Midoriya's words came out in a jumble, and Kirishima waited patiently for him to get his thoughts together. "For a long time actually... and I was wondering... since I... and you... I mean..." Midoriya let out a whine, and then took a deep breath, and then in a tremulous voice he finally managed. "I have a crush on Kacchan..." Kirishima tried not to laugh.

"Dude, doesn't he try to blow you up on, like, a daily basis?" Deku's face heated up slightly. "I can't tell if that makes you brave and manly, or just a masochist." Then Deku turned as red as Kirishima's hair. "Whatever. What does this have to do with me? Why don't you just tell him?"

"A girl confessed to him in middle school, and he was so clueless that he didn't even realize and nearly sent her to the hospital," explained Midoriya. "She ended up switching schools."

"Sheesh, guess that's kind of suicidal then, huh," Kirishima nodded in understanding. "So what're you gonna do then?"

"Well that's... that's where I need your help," admitted Deku sheepishly. "You... you see, I have a plan..." Kirishima waited for his visitor to continue. "I'm pretty sure Kacchan feels the same, but I just know he'd blast my head off if I brought it up, so... so I was thinking, if I date someone else, then maybe Kacchan will get jealous and then he'll confess.

"But then the issue of who I would date instead came up. It couldn't be anyone who actually wants to date me, because I don't want any trouble if it works. It has to be a guy, because otherwise he might think I'm straight and give up. And it has to be a real person, because if I make someone up then Kacchan will find out." Kirishima nodded along, but he was still a little confused as to why he came to him with this. "Anyway, I was wondering if you'd be willing to do it?"

Kirishima was silent for a moment as he processed the request. "Wait... so... you want me to be your fake boyfriend so you can hook up with my best friend? That about right?" Midoriya pursed his lips. "Geez, sneaky plans are so unmanly."

"Please Kirishima?" Midoriya begged. "This is the only way I could think of that didn't end up with me in the hospital!"

"Stop that!" Kirishima frowned. "It's not like you're not in the hospital all the time anyway." Midoriya fell to his knees giving Kirishima his best puppy eyes, fully prepared to kowtow. "Groveling isn't manly either. I said stop! Fine I'll do it, just get up."

"Thank you so much Kirishima!" Deku sprung up to hug his classmate.

"Yeah, yeah, I get it." Kirishima pushed Deku off of him. "So how's this gonna work?"

"We pretend to date and if, after a month, nothing happens, we'll stage a big, dramatic break up," Deku explained. "If none of that works... well... I'll cross that bridge when I come to it."

"Ok, and what exactly does fake-dating mean?" asked Kirishima warily. "Like, hand-holding sure, but are we gonna have to kiss and stuff too?" He grimaced at the thought. It wasn't kissing another guy that bothered him, he was actually gay himself, but he had no interest whatsoever in kissing Midoriya.

"No way," Deku said. "That's not necessary. Just enough PDA to make it believable, cheek and forehead kisses at most."

"Alright, fine."

So that's what they did, the next day they announced that they had started dating when they held hands in the common room. The two made an effort to hang out, Kirishima even going to sit with Deku and his friends during lunch. The results were surprisingly quick.

Bakugo would scowl every time Deku pulled Kirishima away to look at something. He couldn't even look at them when they held hands in the dorms or laughed together. He could feel anger boiling up in his chest, but he soon realized he wasn't just angry, he was jealous.

Jealous of the soft touches, the goofy laughs, the closeness. He kept telling himself to get it together. He managed about a week and a half before he just couldn't take it anymore.

Deku gave Kirishima a kiss on the cheek after they successfully completed the training exercise together. Since they'd started dating they did all the team stuff together. Bakugo was almost used to it, but that little, tiny kiss set his blood boiling, and he attacked Midoriya, who ran. Bakugo was hot on his heels, and Kirishima followed as well.

"YOU FUCKING NERDY BASTARD!" Bakugo screamed, shooting explosions at Deku. "YOU JUST CAN'T HELP YOURSELF, CAN YOU! YOU'VE ALWAYS GOTTA BEAT ME TO THE PUNCH! YOU FUCKING ASSRAG!" Nobody really knew what was going on, least of all Kirishima and Midoriya.

"I don't understand!" Deku squeaked as he ran. "What did I do‽"

"IT'S BAD ENOUGH YOU TRICK ME WITH THAT FUCKING QUIRK OF YOURS!" Bakugo shouted furiously. "YOU MAKE A FOOL OF ME! AND NOW YOU STEAL MY BEST DAMN FRIEND OUT FROM UNDER ME! YOU START DATING MY FUCKING CRUSH! YOU THINK YOU CAN HUMILIATE ME LIKE THAT AND GET AWAY WITH IT SHITTY DEKU!"

"Wait, what?" Midoriya wondered, thoroughly baffled by how spectacularly his plan had failed.

"Bakugo stop!" Kirishima yelled in a desperate attempt to get his friend to spare Midoriya's life. Bakugo's eyes widened with the sudden realization of what he'd just said, loud and clear, with Kirishima standing mere feet from him.

"Shit," muttered Bakugo, and he turned to face Kirishima, prepared to start throwing punches, instantly more hostile than the situation called for. "What, you wanna protect you pathetic fucking boyfriend?" he spat.

"Actually," Kirishima shook his head. "Midoriya and I were never really dating. You still probably shouldn't kill him, though."

"Fucking... what?" Bakugo paled.

"Midoriya and me were only pretending to date," Kirishima reiterated.

They had tricked him. But why? "Why the fuck..." he trailed off, but Kirishima seemed to understand.

"See, Midoriya has this crush on you, but he didn't want to straight up tell you because he values his life, apparently," Kirishima attempted to explain. "He wanted me to be his fake boyfriend so that you'd get jealous and realize you like him back, but I guess that backfired." Kirishima laughed and rubbed the back of his head.

Bakugo's face turned a violent shade of red, though whether from embarrassment or anger, no one could quite tell. "Fucking Deku come here so I can fucking kill you!" he shouted, voice cracking. Eventually, Aizawa-sensei broke up the fight. No one talked about Bakugo's accidental confession, though he had been screaming so loudly that almost everyone had heard it, and those who hadn't heard were promptly told by those who had.

Kisishima went back to his usual group of friends, no longer having to spend all his time with Midoriya since they had abandoned their dating ruse. He left the other boy with an apology. "Sorry it didn't work out, bro."

Bakugo, for his part, had been avoiding all human interaction since the events of that afternoon. Even more so than usual, that is. When class 1-A returned to the dorms, Bakugo had gone directly to his room, even though the rest of the class hung out in the common area watching movies for the most part.

"So Kiri," Ashido was seated next to him on the couch as they watched X-Men. "Are you gonna talk to Bakugo about what he said?"

"Whaddya mean, Mina?" Kirishima asked her, scrunching up his face in confusion. "It's hardly the first time he's threatened to kill Midoriya, and it won't be the last. What would be the point talking to him about it?"

"Dude, she wasn't talking about that!" Kaminari groaned from the other side of Ashido, rolling his eyes.  "She was talking about how he said he had a crush on you."

"He said WHAT‽‽" Kirishima demanded, turning to his friend uncomprehendingly. "When‽"

"When he was yelling at Midoriya." Ashido looked at him like he was a complete dunce, which, maybe he was. "He got pissed and started screaming that Midoriya was dating his crush... how did you not hear that? You were standing right there!"

"But Midoriya wasn't dating..." he trailed off, realization dawning.

"But Bakugo thought you were."

"Shit! I've gotta go talk to Bakugo before I miss my chance!" Kirishima shot up off the couch, causing Ashido to fall back since she had been leaning on him.

"Good luck Kiri!" Ashido singsonged after him as he made a beeline for Bakugo's room. When he reached the blond's door, he hesitated. But then chided himself because that was cowardly, and knocked.

"Fuck off!" Bakugo snarled from inside.

"But it's me—" Kirishima started to say, before Bakugo interrupted.

"I don't give a fuck who it is! Fuck off!"

"It's Kirishima! I wanna talk to you!"

"No!"

"Stop acting like a whiny child! Man up and open the damn door!"

Silence. Then Kirishima heard footsteps, and the door cracked open, and Bakugo peeked out very slightly. "What do you want?"

"Can I come in?" Kirishima asked, he didn't really want to have this conversation though a crack in the door, but Bakugo just glared in response and shook his head. "Alright. Well, I realized that when you were yelling at Midoriya... well, actually, Mina pointed it out to me, but you said that you had a crush on me, and—" Bakugo slammed the door in his face. "DUDE!" Kirishima yelled indignantly. "That was uncalled for!"

Kirishima glared at the door. He tried the knob, but Bakugo had locked it. He stood there for several moments, trying to think of some way to get Bakugo to talk. Then it came to him. A lame idea. Something he'd seen online forever ago. But it might just work. He pounded on the door and yelled, "DO YOU WANNA FUCKING GO!"

A moment later came the click of a lock, and the door swung all the way opened to reveal a seriously pissed off Bakugo. Kirishima immediately grinned. "On a date?" he finished. Bakugo opened and closed his mouth a couple of times, words failing him, crimson flushing into his cheeks. "Well, do you?" Bakugo slammed the door again.

Then he reopened it just a crack and muttered, "yes," then closed it again.

"We'll work out the details tomorrow then!" Kirishima called through the door, but there was no answer. He hadn't really expected one. Bakugo wasn't good with words or emotions, but he'd get better, Kirishima would help him. Kirishima practically skipped back to the common area, smiling his biggest shark-toothed grin.

"Wow, you look happy," Ashido noticed when the redhead returned. She smirked knowingly. "Went that well, huh?"

"I've got a date with Bakugo," Kirishima chirped brightly.

"Congrats man!" Kaminari said, patting his friend on the back. "Seriously, good luck with that! Here's hoping you don't get killed."

"C'mon, he'll be fine!" Sero laughed. "I mean if anyone can survive dating Bakugo, it's Kiri!"

"Hey guys, that's not nice!" Kirishima complained with a pout, and they just laughed. He laughed with them. It had been a good day.

[I actually don't like this one-shot much at all (the other ones are better imo), but I hope somehow you guys did.

I'm still asking for requests, so far I've only gotten one and I'm waiting for more details before I start writing, and I only have one more short already done and ready to post probably in a few days.

I need prompts to write more so I eagerly await your ideas. Love y'all.
