🔪 Miritama🔪
(It can't get better)
Tamaki sighed looking at the dorm ground in defeat. It had been a week since Nighteye had passed away and Mirio still couldn't even smile.
The indigo haired boy had tried everything to make his boyfriend happy again. Even if it was just for a second but it never worked.
It didn't help that Mirio didn't have his quirk. He couldn't attend classes like normal and he had to take special precautions while he was around others.
"Mirio...I'm here to study with you. May I come in?"
There was a noise behind the door and then it slowly opened. Inside was dark and messy which had become the usual for Mirio.
"Hey Tamaki."
"Hi Mirio. You doing any better?"
"You ask that every time you come here and every time you get the same answer."
"Your right. Sorry." Tamaki said as he entered the dark room. He set the books he'd been carrying on Mirios desk and took a seat on the bed.
"I thought-"
"Mirio I love you. I have for a long time. We have been friends since we were kids and I've never seen you like this. I look up to you...y-your a hero. You never gave up. Why...why now?"
"I've lost everything."
"No. You haven't. I'm still here. Nejire is still here. Your still here. You still have a life and your acting like you don't. People die Mirio. Your one of the lucky ones who survived. Don't waste that. I-i miss you."
Tamaki could no longer hold it in. Tears started to fall to the floor as he said his next words "I-if you don't start trying at least then you will lose everything. I-i love you and I can't handle t-this. I can't stand to see you this way."
Mirio stayed silent staring at Tamaki in disbelief. "Are you saying you don't want to be together?"
"I-i'm saying I want to be with you more than anything but I can't do that if you don't even care."
Mirio swallowed a lump forming in his throat. "I-i'm sorry Tamaki, but it's not that easy. I always thought that what all might did with always having a smile was easy...but when you can't think of anything to smile about..."
"Y-you can't think of anything? Nothing at a-all?"
The tall blonde shook his head shattering Tamakis heart. He really wasn't enough.
"I-i have to go." Tamaki said as he quickly raced out the door tears pouring down his face.
The next few days were so much harder for them both. Mirio had attempted to drop off Tamakis books but was ignored so he just left them in front of his door.
Tamaki had tried to apologise but Mirio was no where to be found.
"Hey Tamaki! Have...you heard from Mirio?" Nejire tapped in Tamakis shoulder still bright as ever.
"No. I see him every now and then though in the lunchroom."
"... Tama...are you two broken up?"
"...that obvious?"
Nejire nodded before giving the boy a soft warm hug. "You gonna be okay?"
"I-i don't know. I love him Nejire but he basically said right to my face I wasn't a reason for him to smile. T-that hurt me..."
"You can't take that personally ya know."
"How can I not?"
"I don't know but you can't. You guys are meant to be. I've known that ever since I met you. Give it another try."
"A-alright I'll try."
*Time skip*
Tamaki breathed in heavily before knocking on the door. "Mirio...I wanna talk."
The door opened slowly and the shape Mirio was in made Tamaki gasp in horror.
The blonde was skinnier with large bags under his eyes and looked like he was sick.
"What do you wanna talk about?"
"I wanted to apologise. You needed me and I left. I'm sorry Mirio."
"It's fine. You were right. I wasn't trying. I'm still not, but I want to. I can only do that with you though. I heard you and Nejire talking and I'm sorry I didn't say you were a reason to smile. You are. Your... amazing."
Tamakis eyes widened and that's when it happened. Mirio smiled again.
The indigo haired boy hugged the taller male happily crying. "You smiled! I-i'm so happy. T-thank you."
Mirio hugged Tamaki back tightly and wiped away the smaller boys tears.
The next day was nice. It wasn't exactly like it had been before Nighteye but it was close.
The day after was a turning point. Tamaki, Mirio, and Nejire had decided to go to the park together like they used too.
"I've missed this guy's! Its so nice to see you two together again!" Nejire hopped up and down excitedly.
Tamaki smiled kindly at her as a gust of wind blew. "I-its cold. Maybe it wasn't a good day to go to the park?"
"Here have my coat." Mirio wrapped his coat around Tamaki making him blush.
Down the road a loud car blared it's music and raced cop cars. "Geeze people never learn." Nejire knitted her eyebrows together as the car started to drive by them.
"No b-but the cops will get them soon." Tamaki snuggled Mirios jacket feeling warmer already.
"Do...they have guns?" Mirio asked his question quickly answered as gun shots rang threw the air making the three drop to the ground.
The car sped past the park three cops on their tail. "Holy cow! Do you think anyone was hit?" Nejire stood up looking around.
"Nejire..."
Nejire paused and turned back to face her friends Mirio was pale and looking at Tamaki in horror.
"Tama? Y-your bleeding. Tamaki?"
Nejire started to cry as Mirio shook Tamaki violently. "no no no no not you too. Please I can't loose you too! Tamaki get up!"
Nejire shoved Mirio away harshly. "Stop your probably hurting him!"
"I can't hurt someone who's dead!"
"He's not dead!"
Nejires tears dripped onto Tamakis body and she lifted his head into her lap gently stroking his hair. "Y-your not dead. Your gonna be o-okay. Wake up. P-please."
Mirio shook his head and pounded his fist on the ground. "He's not gonna wake up. He's gone Nejire! H-hes gone..."
"Gone."
