Welcome to Nabu!

Lots to cover now. First of all, we have finally revealed who the traitor is. If you've been paying attention all this time, then you'll know who "Wilcox" is. If not, i'll just be upfront and say the traitor is Tika. She's Daina's little sister. Next, we're onto the awesome Heroes Rising arc!! Yes, it's time we dive into some Class 1-B's Ace style action! Only Cry and Queen as OC's around here. And Cry's gonna be a lot different from what you've seen already. This is around the time when he's still very new and still learning how to control his Reality quirk. He's still struggling quite a bit. Also, whenever I name off a student of class B, i'll list off their quirk too if they're a less well known character just so you can remember. Alright, let's get back into the action! Enjoy!

-POV: Cry-

My alarm started to go off, and as I rolled over in my bed to shut it off, my face got struck by a bright beam of sunlight.

"Ah, too bright..... someone.... turn down the sun...." I said as I turned off my alarm and got out of bed, heading towards my balcony to get some fresh air. Life in the new U.A dorms has been great so far. I get to be around my friends and classmates 24/7, what's better than that? Well, I guess being around family would be, but you know what I mean.

"Morning, Cry!" I heard someone shout to me from over at class 1-A's dorm. I looked down to their second floor and saw Jiro waving to me from her balcony. I was on the 4th floor of my class' dorm, with their being 5 in total.

"Hey, good morning! How'd you sleep!?" I shouted back to her.

"Pretty good!! Think you can do it today!?" She shouted back as I just shrugged my shoulders.

"Not sure but we'll see! I'll give it a shot!" I said as I raised up my diamond right arm and began pointing down to Jiro's room. I activated my quirk, making my veins glow purple as I tried to focus and make a portal so I could go over there and visit.

"Come on, come on.... Today's the day....." I said to myself as a portal did appear..... but, it was in the air between our two dorms. Jiro only laughed as I stopped using my quirk.

"I'm gonna say nope! Can't do it today either!" I said to Jiro as I now laughed a bit.

"Oh well, you'll get the hang of that new quirk soon, i'm sure of it! I'll see you around the school!" Jiro said as she went back into her room, as did I where I changed in my school uniform. I then went down and had breakfast with some of the students from my class. Today it was eggs ad bacon.

"Any luck this morning, Cry?" Tetsutetsu asked me as I just shook my head.

"Not really. I've got the creation part down, it's just the focusing aspect i'm having difficulties with. Got halfway over to Class A's dorm though. So.... I don't know, maybe a 50ft distance." I told everyone at the table.

"Well, it's further than last week. Guess all those extra lessons with Mr. Kan(Vlad King) have been paying off. Still can't believe you agreed to let the teach do all that for you though. Doesn't all this training hurt?" Juzo Honenuki(Quirk: Softening) asked me.

"Hell yeah it does. He loves to break people, that's for sure. But, if all these extra training sessions pay off then I guess I really can't complain about them." I said as I finished up the rest of my breakfast and went to wash my dishes.

"You'll get the hang of it soon, i'm sure of it. Yeah you've been progressing with it a lot, but i' more impressed about how you've been able to keep up with all the written lessons. Aren't you tired when we're in class?" Kinoko Komori(Quirk: Mushroom) asked me as I gave her a nod.

"Course I am. Believe me, it's a huge struggle to keep up with it all. I just can't afford to fall behind. After all, having to literally restart everything by gaining a new quirk certainly makes my road ahead a bit bumpy, so I've been working extra hard to avoid those bumps." I said as Kendo came down the stairs and into the common room.

"Morning everyone...." She said, looking hella tired. She hadn't even done her hair yet.

"Morning, Sleeping Beauty. Rough night?" I asked her as I handed her a plate so she could pick up her breakfast in the frying pans.

"Don't know why, just couldn't get any sleep. Kept on waking up like every hour." She told us as I poured her a cup of coffee which she gladly accepted.

"So, what's everything thinking Mr. Kan's got up his sleeve for us today?" Kendo asked as she took a sip of her coffee.

"Training." We all said at the exact same time in a rather monotone mood.

"What I was thinking too...." She said as everyone finished up their breakfast as well. We all then headed out into the main building of U.A, going all the way down its halls to our homeroom, Class 1-B. We all took our seats, mine being the 5th and final seat of the 3rd row. And shortly after the rest of our class came in and took their seats, our homeroom teacher came in. Mr. Kan, also known as the Blood Hero: Vlad King, likes to be tough on all of us, but he's also equally loving. He shows great compassion towards us all in any situation. We're all real happy to have him as our teacher.

"Good morning, class. I hope everyone has a nice weekend. Today, we'll be discussing an important upcoming event for you all." Vlad King said to us as everyone now became real interested. It wasn't often he'd say something was important for us all.

"Does this have anything to do with our work studies being postponed?" Sen Kaibara(Quirk: Gyrate) asked.

"In a way, yes. But it's not that they're starting again. That's still up for debate. No, what I want to discuss is a matter that the government and U.A have been conversing about for some time now. And, about a week ago, we came to our conclusion. Because of All Might's retirement, hero society is currently in a state of chaos. Activities of villains has increased drastically. Therefore, it is crucial that we train the next generation so that we may all face them." Vlad Kind explained to us as we all just remained silent and listened to him.

"So, the Hero Public Safety Commission, as well as a majority of staff here at U.A have decided on this. We call it "Draft Recommendations of Heroes Office." Each hero course class at U.A will be sent out to operate at one of the selected chosen sites, standing as the heroes for the locale. These locations haven't had any real heroes around them for quite some time, but with villains on the rise again, that's changing. So, we're sending all you trainees as stand-ins until some pros come to fill in." Vlad King explained as he hit a button on his desk, making a white board drop down. He then used a remote and turned on the projector, showing off an aerial photo of an island.

"Class B will be stationed here. This is Nabu island, located far to the south of the country. The heroes who used to protect this place have been retired for some time now. Replacements are currently being searched for, so you will take their place until whenever the pros arrive." Vlad Kind explained as everyone in the whole class erupted into cheers.

"WE GET TO BE REAL HEROES!!!! YES!!!! WOOHOO!!!!" Everyone screamed in great joy.

"This isn't gonna be like an internship or a work study..... this is...... it's the real deal....." I thought as I looked down at my diamond arm.

"Can I..... I need to learn how to control this power..... Otherwise, I may end up causing more harm than good." I thought as Vlad King quieted everyone down.

"I wasn't finished, so keep it down. By regulation, teachers cannot be there to back you up. So, if anything should happen, you're the ones who're responsible. Keep that in mind at all times. Understood?" Vlad Kind said as we all responded with a very stern "Yes, sir!"

"Excellent. All of you will be shipping out this Wednesday. Make sure you bring anything you think you'll need up there. There's no coming back until the pros arrive." Vlad King said as everyone gave him some nods.

"Good. Now, let's move on to today's lesson. It's training time!" Our teacher roared as I saw Monoma drop his head onto his desk.

"Please.... no more training..... these extra sessions..... are really killing me....." I heard Monoma whimper. Me and him have only recently started to agree with one another. And because of that, he's been coming to train with me in my extra training sessions. He wants to learn how to use my Reality quirk too in case he ever needs to copy it. Let's just say..... Well, I think the fact he looks like a zombie right now speaks for itself.

"Ah, quit your wining, Monoma. Everyone, suit up! Meet me in Battlegrounds Beta in 15 minutes!!" Vlad King said as we all left to change into our hero costumes and begin yet another day of hard training.

-7 Hours later-

"Somebody kill me..... please....." Monoma moped as Kendo was dragging him by a foot along the ground up to our dorm.

"Just be glad he said he'd hold off on our extra training until after we come back from this special assignment. Wouldn't want you to die before we got to the island, after all." I said to Monoma as he just groaned and got dragged up the stairs, through the front door and over to a couch where Kendo plopped him down on.

"Now I see why you're having such a hard time mastering your Reality quirk, Cry. The sheer level of focus required..... How is anyone supposed to pull of that kind of crap!?" Monoma complained as I headed over to the stairs to go up to my room.

"No clue. Gotta figure out a way somehow. I'll be back down in a few minutes." I said as some of my friends gave me some thumbs up before I left. I climbed all the way up to the 4th floor and went into my room where I pulled out my cell phone and called my mother. It rang a couple of times but eventually, she answered.

"How's my little superhero doing today!?" She asked me in her little giddy voice she does around me.

"Well, still haven't mastered the quirk yet. Tried making a portal a few times in training and got a little further distance with them. So, i'm getting there. But, that's not important right now." I told her as I could hear my dad on the other end as well.

"Is that our boy on the other end? Tell him I say hi!" I heard him say.

"You're father says hello, honey." My mom said which just made me laugh a bit.

"Tell him I say hi too. Anyways, i'm calling right now because, when we started classes today, Vlad Kind informed us that we're going to be going away for some time to act as stand-in heroes at Nabu Island. It's gonna be our class' first official time as real heroes. Figured i'd give you a call to tell you the news. Not sure if there's gonna be a signal out there though, so don't get worries if you don't hear from me in a while, okay?" I jokingly asked as my mother just laughed away.

"I won't, I won't, I promise. Besides, you should be saying that to your father. You know how worried he gets sometimes." My mother chuckled as I agreed.

"By the way, how'd the, uh, "you know what," go, last night?" I asked her as she had mentioned she was going on a mission last night, but it's heavily under wraps. She trusts me enough to know I won't leak any info out.

"We're still looking into it. Targets turned out to be fakes. But, we certainly found some interesting things. Something was being transported, and now, it's loose. Cry, on the very..... no, extremely low chance you run into this thing, promise me you'll be careful, okay?" My mom asked me.

"Mom, did you forget who you're talking to? I'm your son, one of the next great heroes! I've died and not even that stopped me from moving forward! If whatever this thing is comes my way, i'll put a stop to it!" I said as someone started knocking on my door.

"Cry, you in there?" I heard Kendo ask.

"Oh crap! She might've heard me! Uh, sorry mom. Gotta go! I'll text you before we leave for Nabu." I said as we said our goodbyes before I hung up. I then went over to my door and opened it, allowing Kendo to walk in.

"I heard you shouting something in here. Everything all right?" She asked me.

"Oh yeah, it's nothing to worry about. Just got off the phone with my mom." I told her.

"Nice. And how's the newly number 12 ranked Wrath Queen doing these days?" Kendo asked me.

"As good as she always is. Had a successful rescue mission last week. Stopped a number of criminals. Heck, she's not gonna stop until she finally breaks into the top 10 probably." I said as Kendo agreed with me.

"So, uh, is there anything else you needed?" I asked her as she came over to me and took my right hand, looking down at the diamond forming it.

"It's hard to believe all sorts of things like this have happened to you and the rest of us just this year. But you've taken the most abuse. And, I know it's a struggle to learn how to use your new quirk properly and to keep up with your studies. So, even though Vlad King won't be there on the island, allow me to help you, and Monoma, I guess, train." Kendo offered as I grew a very happy smile.

"Wait, you'd do that? That's great! Thank you!" I cheerfully said as she smiled back.

"We're class B. We'd do anything for each other. Now, let's head back downstairs. It's your turn to make dinner tonight." Kendo said as I then lowered my head and sighed.

"Right..... i'll be right there...." I said, sounding like Monoma now as I followed her out my door and back downstairs. Everyone was so eager now that we were going to real heroes. And once Wednesday comes around, it's going to be official! We honestly could not wait!

-2 Days Later-

The big day was finally here!! Today we were being shipped out to Nabu to be real heroes!! It was so exciting for all of us!!

Vlad King had driven us all by bus out to the harbor where we waited to board our ferry. Everyone had their cases for their costumes, along with all their luggage they were bringing with them. We had no idea how long we'd be staying, so everyone packed quite a lot just in case.

"The ferry will be boarding soon. I expect all of you to be on your best behavior when you arrive." Vlad King said, specifically looking at Monoma.

"Why're you looking at me when you say that!?" Monoma questioned as Vlad King cleared his throat to continue.

"Unlike any training session or group activity, I won't be appointing anyone to be in charge. All of you have the same job out there, so all of you are on equal footing. You make your own decisions. But, always remember that you can still work as a team. If you think you can't do something on your own out there, do bring someone to assist you. There's no shame in asking for help." Vlad King told us as we all responded with a "Yes, sir!" And right after that, the horn for the ferry blared off.

"Good timing. They're boarding now. All of you good luck out there. And please, don't do anything stupid. I'm sure you'll do fine though. I'll miss you, kids." Vlad King said as everyone in our class boarded the ferry, dropping all our stuff into the cargo hold and then went to one side to wave off our teacher. Minutes later, we pushed off from the harbor and were off. Next stop: Nabu Island!!

-8 Hours Later-

"How much longer.....?" Monoma questioned as he leaned over the railing of the boat and threw up. Turns out he gets sea sick pretty easily.

"Not too much longer. Should be there pretty soon." I told him as me, Shihai Kuroiro(Quirk: Black), and Kosei Tsubaraba(Quirk: Solid Air) were currently playing poker on a nearby table.

"I'm all in." Tsubaraba said as he placed all his complimentary peanuts in the centre of the table. We didn't really wanna bet actual money so we figured those were the next best things.

"I'm out." Kuroiro said as he dropped his cards and backed away. His hand was pretty garbage honestly.

"You know what, i'll call your bluff. All in too." I said as I moved in my peanuts as well.

"Figured you do that. Mr. Risky here thinks i'm bluffing, well let's see what you've got." Tsubaraba said as I placed down my cards.

"Full house. Two 3's and three Queens." I told him as he quickly grew a face of shock.

"Well damn.... guess I lose..... If I didn't have something better, that is! HA!" Tsubaraba said as he placed down his cards.

"4 Kings! 4 of a kind!" He bragged as I could not believe it. He legit had 4 kings in his hand, plus a 2. How lucky can you get?

"Aw, no!" I said as he snatched away all the peanuts.

"Lose again to him?" Ibara Shiozaki(Quirk: Vines) asked as she came over to see what all the yelling was about.

"Man, I don't know how he does it. He can't seem to lose. I swear, you're cheating!" Kuroiro said as Tsubaraba just laughed at us.

"Nah, man. It's all skill." Tsubaraba said in a smug attitude.

"I beg to differ." Hiryu Rin(Quirk: Scales) said as he came over, holding a video camera in his hands.

"Wait, what's that?" Tsubaraba questioned.

"Something to take you off your high horse. Check this out, guys." Rin said as he showed us the footage he had taken. It showed he was watching us playing our game, with Tsubaraba's back to Rin. We watched closely and, when Tsubaraba lowered his left arm for a moment out of sight from me and Kuroiro, we saw him slip out a king from his sleeve.

"Yeah, looks like i'll be taking these." I said as I took away his peanuts.

"That's low, dude. Maybe next time, lose a few games so we wouldn't become suspicious." Kuroiro said as Tsubaraba just lowered his head and sighed.

"It was worth a shot. Didn't think i'd have any PESKY SPECTATORS though!" He said to Rin who closed his camera and just laughed, as did the rest of us. Then, the horn of the ferry blared again.

"Alright, we're here!!" Shiozaki said as everyone from our class ran down the deck to the bow of the boat, with me grabbing Monoma to drag him up there as we watched us approach Nabu. The island wasn't very big, maybe only a few kilometres long, but it still looked beautiful. Like a little hidden paradise where you can get away from the world.

On the island, there was actually only 3 settlements. The main city where the port is, then two smaller towns to the North-East and West. Then, further North-West, there's a bridge that takes you to a smaller island. It's abandoned but apparently it's got some rather interesting and old castle ruins on it. Something we'd like to check out if we ever get some free time.

"Welcome to Nabu Island, Japan's gem of the south sea. We hope you enjoy your stay!" The ferry captain announced over the P.A system as we docked in the port.

"Finally!!! We're here!!! Get me off this boat!!!" Monoma shouted as he was first off once we could leave.

"Ah, you all must be Class B from U.A, right? Pleasure to meet you all, i'm the mayor of the island." An older man said as he and a handful of people were there at the port to greet us all.

"Thank you for having us, sir. It'll be an honor to act as your heroes for the time being." Kendo said to him as she shook hands with the mayor.

"Once all your stuff has been unloaded, we'll show you to where you'll be staying." The mayor said as it didn't take long for all our luggage to be dropped off out of the ferry. We all then packed into a bus and were shown around the city.

"We've never actually had any recorded villain activity here on our island, so things may not be quite as exciting as some of you were probably hoping. But, we assure you that we'll keep you all entertained for the time you'll be staying. Nabu's main industry is for fishing. Every day you'll see plenty of fishermen go out on their vessels or just fish right here in the port. It's amazing to see what they catch sometimes." The mayor explained to us as we could already see plenty of boats out in the water, pulling up their catch.

"Next up is the pride and joy of our dear island. Our beach is the reason many tourists come here. Crystal clear waters, suitable temperatures, typically clear weather, it's basically perfect. But they get so overcrowded these days, the lifeguards become overwhelmed. We were actually hoping some of you would assist them." The mayor said as we passed by the beach. And when he said the beaches got overcrowded, he really wasn't kidding. There was so many people!! I took a picture so I could send to my parents. Mom always loves to see the places we go to.

"Don't worry people, I've taken lifeguard training. I'll take on that duty." Yosetsu Awase(Quirk: Weld) said as some of us let out some sighs of relief. I wouldn't mind helping out though. I love the ocean.

"Well that's great to here! I'll let the lifeguards know later. Right now, it seems we're coming up on our destination..." The mayor said as we drove up a fairly steep hill, filled with houses on either side of the road. We went all the way up to the top where we came to a crescent shaped road. However, only one building rested on it. It looked like a small office building, only 2-stories tall. Maybe 100x100x40ft.

"This is where all of you will be staying. This building here is the old hero agency here. Obviously, with our heroes on the island being retired, this place hasn't been used for some time. The first floor, you've got all your office supplies. Phones, computers, everything you'll need for the job. I'm sure you'll get quite a lot of calls. Then, the upstairs is your living space. One common room and 5 others for sleeping." The mayor said as we parked and then went into the agency. Everything was very dusty, a clear sign that nothing in here hadn't been used for quite some time.

"We admit that the things in here are quite old and maybe a tad dirty, but, with no heroes here and with no one else on the island knowing what to do with all this stuff, we've had no reason to come in here. We do apologize for not cleaning up beforehand though, everyone's just so busy around here. Our annual harvest is coming up so everyone's in quite a rush." The mayor explained as a few of us let out some more sighs.

"No worries. I'm sure some of us won't mind doing a bit of cleaning, right guys?" Kendo said as a few of us gave her some nods. I was one of them. It's no different from cleaning our dorms rooms, after all.

"Oh excellent! I have some men working on getting power back to this place as we speak. You should have lights and power for all the electronics hopefully on before the end of the day." The mayor told us as we gave him a few nods.

"Thank you, sir. For all of this. We won't let you or anyone on this island down!" Kendo told him as the rest of us gave him a loud but stern "Right!"

"You kids are so sweet. I'm sure you won't fail us either. Now, I really must be going. I've got a lot of paperwork to fill out. But, if there's anything you need from me, or need to ask me, I left my number on the table over there. There's cell signal here so you can make call with your own phones." The mayor said.

"Thanks for that info. We'll be sure to give you a ring if we need anything. Guess we should start unloading the bus now, I guess." Kendo said as we followed her out and took all of our luggage out of the bus and into the building. I was last to take my stuff off. I had an awkward time trying to carry it all and I ended up dropping my case with my costume in it. It actually opened up on impact and one of the sleeves flopped out.

"Damn it. Don't really have the hands to get it. I'll have to come back for it." I said to myself as I quickly carried the rest of my stuff into the agency before going back outside. The mayor had actually driven off by now.

"Alright, now for my..... costume....." I said, sounding very confused as my costume and its case was nowhere to be seen.

"Hey, did any of you grab my case with my costume!?" I shouted back to the agency.

"Nope! Didn't touch it! Thought you were grabbing it?" I heard some of my classmates say as I started to look around. But, in the corner of my eye, I saw a little kid run around the right side of the agency. He was holding my case in his hands.

"So that's it...." I said as I ran over and rounded the corner. There sat the kid, looking at my costume with awe on his face. The kid, to my best guess, was no older than 6, and he had curly light brown hair, and brown eyes. He was wearing a pair of blue overalls over a white shirt, plus some blue sandals. He also had on a yellow messenger bag, and a wide-brimmed sun hat with a blue rim around it. I approached him calmly, trying not to spook him. He hadn't noticed me yet.

"Excuse me...." I said to him in a kind voice as he looked over with a bit of shock and fear in his eyes.

"Hey, it's alright. I'm not gonna hurt you. You wanted to see my costume, didn't you? That's why you took it, right?" I asked him with a bit of a chuckle in my voice as he gave me a nod.

"Do you think it looks cool?" I asked him as I crouched down next to him.

"I..... I do. Are you.... a real hero?" He asked me as I took off him sun hat and then shook his hair a bit.

"Kind of. Hero in training. I'm from U.A High. Me and my class are here as temporary heroes until actual pros come and take over." I told him as I took my hand away and then put his hat back on his head.

"What's with your right arm..... and your face..... and.... why do you have only 3 fingers on your left hand....?" He asked me, curiously looking at all my abnormal features.

"Those are all some long stories. Maybe if I see you around, and I have some free time, i'll tell you about them, hehe...." I said in a bit of a joking manner.

"Katsuma!! Where'd you go!! Get back here!!" A little girls voice suddenly shouted through the trees around the building.

"Uh, sorry! I've gotta go! Bye, mister!" The little boy said as he gave me back my case and costume and then ran into the woods.

"Katsuma, eh? I'll remember you, kid. I'm sure i'll see you around...." I said to myself as I packed my costume back into its case then went back into the agency to help clean up.

We've finally arrived at Nabu island and everyone's so hyped to start our first days as heroes!! We didn't care of there weren't any villains here, just the fact we get to help the citizens is awesome!! We can't wait to begin!!
