The Legend begins
A large grin grew in Kadoya's face as he watched the virdettes' confused reaction to his question. "You heard me."
Midoriya tilted his head in confusion as his brain tried to process what he had just heard. "Y-y-you want m-me t-t-to be your successor?" He stuttered out in disbelief as he pointed a finger at himself.
Kadoya arched an eyebrow, "Yes, you." He asked before looking around in an exaggerated manner. "I don't see any other green haired boys around here called Izuku Midoriya, or am I missing something?"
"But why me?"
"Because why not?" Kadoya countered with a sly grin. "Nothing lasts forever. That is one indisputable truth in the universe. Not me, not you, not even All Might is immune to that." He began as he turned away from Midoriya. "I know that someday I will die. Now how I die is still up for debate but I know for a fact that I won't go down without knowing that I've at least got a worthy success to carry on with my duty."
As Kadoya talked, Midoriya stood rooted in place as he listened, almost enraptured by the man's explanation. Something about his words struck a chord within Midoriya, a sense of understanding nestled in his stomach as Kadoya finished his explanation.
"Why me?"
"I'm sorry?"
"Out of everyone here, why me? Surely there could be someone more suited to be your successor?" Midoriya asked timidly as tears began to well up within his eyes.
Hearing this caused Kadoya to smile as he gently placed a comforting hand on Midoriya's shoulder. "Because a man once said, "a strong man, who has known power all his life, may lose respect for that power, but a weak man knows the value of strength and knows compassion." And you, Midoriya are that man." He explained.
"What do you mean?" Midoriya asked as he tilted his head to the side in confusion.
"You've been bullied your entire life by people who are stronger than you. In doing so, those people helped keep you humble, modest. You've grown to respect strength and value life whereas they have lost respect for their own strength." Kadoya answered as he contained to guide Midoriya to his home. "That's why I picked you. Not because your a strong man but a good one. Someone who'd go out their way to help anyone they can, the exact kind of person worthy to be my successor. So, what do you say? Will you become my successor?"
In that moment, everything seemed to freeze for Midoriya. The weight of Kadoya's words finally came crashing down on him as tears of joy threatend to leak from his eyes as he muttered his answer.
"Yes."
Kadoya smiled before abruptly turning around, "Good, meet me at Dagobah Beach tomorrow at 9:00 in the morning and bring your mother."
Midoriya blinked, confused by Kadoya's request, "Bring my mom? Why?"
Instead of answering him, Kadoya instead gave the boy a wry smile and tapped his nose, "That's for me to know and you to find out."
...
In the next morning, Midoriya had done as Kadoya had asked and had brought his mom with him to Dagobah Beach, where they found him lounging on top of a discarded fridge while eating a bright red apple.
Upon seeing them, Kadoya smiled as he sat upright to greet the pair, "Ah, Midoriya! Did you sleep well?"
"Yes I did, Kadoya-sensei!" Midoriya replied with an excited smile on his face as he ran up to greet his new mentor while his mother trailed behind him with a look of suspicion on her face.
"Izuku, who is this man?" She asked as she cautiously stepped towards them causing Kadoya to adopt an affronted look in his face as he turned to face Midoriya.
"You didn't tell her about me? For shame, Midoriya, for shame." He berated, jokingly before he cleared his throat and turned back to face Inko. "My apologies, I'm Kadoya Tsukasa and I'm your son's mentor." He revealed as he extended his hand towards her.
"What do you mean his mentor?" She asked as her eyes narrowed in further suspicion.
"It's exactly as I have said, he is my protege and intend to help him become a hero." Kadoya explained before turning to face Midoriya, "Isn't that right, Midoriya?"
"It's true mom."
His response shocked her for a moment before her eyes narrowed again and she said something that surprised him. "No."
Kadoya tilted his head to his side. "No?" He echoed in curiosity.
"I won't let you train him." Her answer stunned Midoriya as he looked at his mom in shocked betrayal.
"But why?!?" He exclaimed in disbelief as he tried to process what he'd just heard.
Inko took a deep, shaky breath as she looked at her son, her eyes softening but her voice steady. "Izuku," she began quietly, but there was a firmness beneath her gentle tone, "I know how much this dream means to you. You've always been so brave, even without a Quirk. But bravery... bravery isn't enough to keep you safe." She wrapped her arms around herself, glancing at the ground before looking back up at him, her gaze filled with quiet fear. "I've watched you get hurt, pushing yourself again and again, trying to keep up with others who have powers you don't. And as your mother... I just can't bear the thought of something happening to you, not when I know how dangerous this path can be."
Her voice wavered, and she blinked back a tear. "I know this might feel unfair, but I'm afraid of losing you, Izuku. I need you to understand that."
Kadoya let out a scoffing sound, snapping their attention to him. "If that's the case, then you've already failed as a parent."
Inko's face paled as Kadoya stepped forward, his gaze hard. "Your son's life is always going to be in danger, whether you accept it or not. Or did you forget you live in a world where heroes and villains fight every day, using their Quirks without a second thought? The same world where, just the other day, your son was attacked by a villain and nearly suffocated in the street? Training to be a hero would actually give him a better chance of surviving in this world."
His words hit like a hammer, each one making her flinch.
"In fact," Kadoya continued, poking a finger into her chest, "if you'd truly been watching, you'd know your son's been bullied his entire life, used as a punching bag at school. He was even told to kill himself by his childhood friend just yesterday."
"What?!?" Inko gasped as she whirled around to stare at her son in shock. "You were being bullied?!?"
The horrified stare of his mother caused Izuku to splutter in shock as he tried to defend himself.
"It's... it's nothing, Mom, really!" Midoriya stammered, his cheeks burning with embarrassment and shame as he tried to downplay the situation. "It wasn't that serious, I swear."
Inko's face twisted, pain flashing across her eyes as she looked at him. "Izuku," she said, her voice shaking, "you've been dealing with this all alone?"
Kadoya stepped stepped back, folding his arms as he watched the two with an unreadable expression. "Now do you understand? Your son has suffered all his life, all because he didn't want you to worry. If that's not the making of a true hero then I don't know what is."
Inko looked down, wrestling with her emotions, torn between her instinct to protect and her son's yearning to follow his dreams. Slowly, she glanced at Midoriya, who met her gaze with determination and a hint of pleading in his eyes.
Taking a shaky breath, Inko turned back to Kadoya. "If you can promise me one thing..." she said, her voice soft but resolute. "Promise me you'll keep him safe. That you won't let him... end up hurt, or worse."
Kadoya softened, his voice steady and genuine. "I swear, I'll teach him everything I know, and I'll do everything I can to prepare him for the path he's chosen but I can't always garuntee his safety, all I can do really do is give him the power to protect himself."
Inko closed her eyes for a moment, then nodded, her grip on Midoriya's hand tightening briefly. "Alright. Then, I'll trust you to keep him safe."
"Good because his training starts today!" He exclaimed as he turned to face Midoriya before turning back around to face Inko, "Just to be safe, how about you find a therapist for your son? All that bullying must have badly affected his mental health."
Inko nodded solemnly at Kadoya's suggestion as she turned to leave, "I understand."
"Good, with that done, we can start your training but first," Kadoya pulled out a strange object from his jacket. It was a sleek, rectangular device with a polished, obsidian-black surface, slightly larger than a deck of cards. The edges were trimmed with a metallic silver, giving it an elegant yet mysterious look. A faint, pulsating light glowed from its center, shifting between shades of deep purple and electric blue, casting a surreal glow over Kadoya's hand. Intricate symbols adorned the corners, faintly etched into the surface like ancient glyphs, each one catching the light as he tilted it. Midoriya couldn't help but stare at the device, captivated by its almost otherworldly design.
Before he could ask what the device was, Kadoya placed it on his waste before pulling out a strange card, "Henshin!" he cried out before inserting the card as a robotic voice called out -
-Kamen Ride-
And then he pushed the handles back in, closing it up.
Decade!
Out of the devices central lens, a strange symbol was projected via a red hologram, which formed around him, he was surrounded by nineteen of the other symbols that decorated his driver. The symbols then took the form of blurry afterimages that converged over his body, coating him in a suit of monochrome armor.
The center of the suit, the outer parts of the arms, the gloves, boots, and the sides of his helmet, were all black, while the inner arms, legs and the bracelets and anklets were stark white. He had silver detailing on the underside of his helmet, which was rather smooth and completely dull grey. The grey color extended to a majority of his chest plate, as well as his shoulder pads and the outer parts of his leg armor.
Across the aforementioned chest plate was an asymmetrical cross that was made with white and black stripes, which resulted in a protrusion coming out of his left shoulder pad. The same protrusion was on the other side as well, but it matched the shoulder pad's grey color. The only part of the suit that wasn't completely monochrome were the large, bug-like eyes, which were emerald green.
However, that all changed when the red hologram that projected out from the belt took the form of seven energy beams that went up and then came back down onto the warrior's helmet.
The energy then solidified into seven black ridges that made it appear as if a 3D barcode had been printed across the helmet, with the center most ridge having a yellow crystal at its tip. And, even further, the energy coursed through the rest of the suit, resulting in the grey parts all changing into a lively magenta hue.
"Woah... Who are you?" Izuku muttered in awe as he stared at the now armoured form of Kadoya.
"I... am Kamen Rider Decade and I'll show you how to be a true hero of the world." Kadoya revealed before he began to reach behind his back and slowly withdrew an object wrapped in cloth, the light of the morning sun catching on its edges. Without another word, he held the item out to Izuku, who hesitated before reaching out, his hands trembling slightly.
As the cloth slipped away, Izuku's breath caught in his throat. In his hands was a device unlike anything he had ever seen, similar to the one Kadoya currently wore on his waste but different.
The Legendriver gleamed in the fading daylight, the black and gold metal glistening with an ethereal shimmer. Its frame was decorated with intricate, ancient patterns carved into the golden metal, almost like the relics of a forgotten empire. Two grand panels, sparkling with flecks of gold, flanked the sides, looking like the gates to some mythical realm, both regal and intimidating. As Izuku's fingers traced the edges, he felt the weight of countless battles, as if the device carried with it the echoes of warriors who had come before.
In the center, an image of a powerful face stared back at him, surrounded by golden armor that radiated an aura of strength. Below the face, a green gemstone seemed to pulse with a life of its own, drawing Izuku's gaze deeper, like a heart beating within the device. Red jewels gleamed at the corners, catching the light with a sharp, fiery glint that made them appear like the eyes of a vigilant guardian.
"This... this is for me?" Izuku asked, his voice barely above a whisper, awe and uncertainty mixing in his tone.
Tsukasa nodded, a rare softness in his expression. "That is the Legendriver, a device that holds the legacy of those who came before. With it, you'll gain power-but remember, power is only as good as the one who wields it. And now, I'm trusting you to carry on that legacy, to protect and inspire, as those before you have done."
Izuku clutched the Legendriver to his chest, feeling the weight of Tsukasa's trust and the burden of the power he was about to inherit. He looked up, meeting Tsukasa's gaze, his determination blazing bright. "I won't let you down," he promised as he instinctively placed the device on his waste.
In an instant, knowledge on how to use the Legendriver surged through his mind as a strange sensation began to course through his body.
"You'll need these too." Kadoya added as he tossed a set of cards towards Midoriya, which upon being grabbed caused the Legendriver to suddenly shift into a new device.
"What happened to the Legendriver?!?" Midoriya exclaimed as he stared at the new device in shock.
"It's disguised itself." Kadoya answered, "By itself, the Legendriver would stand out, it's powers especially. As such, its picked out a suitable form from another Kamen Rider to disguise itself as." Decade explained. "Funny, I'd have thought you'd have been given the Henshin belt Gavv to blend in but the Gotchadriver will still work."
"The Gotchadriver?" Suddenly, images of other Kamen Riders began to appear in his mind, as well as their multiple forms and how to access them.
"By this point, your driver has probably began to upload the knowledge on how to use each and every single form of all the Kamen Riders that currently exist." Kadoya explained as he pulled the card from the Decadriver and detransformed. "But if you want to fully understand how to use your power, then I'm going to need to teach you and that's where this Beach comes in. "
"How?"
"By cleaning it during which I'll teach you how to fight and survive. Additionally, I'm gonna help you use your head more."
_______________________________________________
Personally, I think I've done a very decent job for this chapter, don't you guys think?
And yes, I'm make Izuku's main Rider form Kamen Rider Legend cause it's like the Midoriya and All Might mentor situation in cannon, he's training to be All Mights successor but he won't take up his name. So, I thought it was fitting that I'd do something similar for this.
The next story I'm updating is The Emerald Fairy.
If you have any questions, please, don't be afraid to ask.
Have a good day.
