Aizawa HC - Yoga

A/N: Main character is a yoga instructor + leads mediation therapy. Their quirk is energy: they can monitor where people's energy is centered and the emotions attached to it. I'll start this off with feminine pronouns, but if you would like masculine pronouns I am totally willing to make a second part!

"Now stretch up," Lei smiled as she reached her arms toward the ceiling, "try to focus your energy into your belly while we hold this."

She leaned into the stretch, feeling it in her underarms as she closed her eyes contently. The small studio smelled of ginger and vanilla, glowing in candlelight. The walls were covered in diagrams of the body and indie tapestries, a very earthen-looking atmosphere. Soft music was playing in the background, gentle instruments lulling the class into a meditative rhythm.

They all held their position as she got out of her stance to walk through the few rows of mats. Lei only taught small classes because she felt it was more comfortable for those in a small group to be led through harder positions- and she could read their energy better. That was how she was so successful as a small business in such a large city. Lei was well known as someone who could change not only your posture but your attitude through her yoga and mediation classes.

Her eyes settled on a man whose aura was tense and guarded, as if it didn't want Lei's metaphorical hands to shape it. Letting out an even breath, she worked her way through the other five participants to get to him. The class seemed to be anticipating her next instructions, getting tired of holding the same stance for so long.

"Now bend down and let your fingers graze the floor, hanging where they are comfortable above the ground. Don't overstretch, we just need our backs to let go of some of it's strain." Lei placed her fingertips gently on one of their backs, feeling him tense more. "Shōta, right?"

"Correct." His voice was deep and rough, catching her by surprise. He seemed like the type to have a shy, quiet voice. When she had first seen him before class, he had a military stance and seemed to be trying to blend into the background.

"Your energy isn't very mailable. I haven't seen very many people with this kind of aura before," Her fingers slid along his spine and she felt around for his center of energy, "You keep a lot of it centered here."

"Is that.... okay?" Shōta asked, sounding mildly confused as he tried not to squirm under her hand.

She shrugged, watching him stretch down further. He didn't seem like the flexible type, but he comfortably had his palms resting against his mat while holding the stretch. "It's not bad per say, but it's definitely harder for me to work with."

He looked back down at his mat and visibly tried to relax for her. Lei smiled and swirled her finger in circles between his shoulder blades, where most of his tense energy was coming from, which told her that he had his guard up often in his every day life- so much that he probably forgot how to let it down. Her smile widened when she came to a small realization that he was most likely a jaw clencher - or he ground his teeth. Both were stress outlets that were known to move anyone's energy to an uncomfortable place. Most people's rested between their hips or in the middle of their midsection, and hummed at a pale yellow. Shōta's, on the other hand, was tinted grey and seemed to rest on his upper back, mostly on his shoulders from what she could see now. Closing her eyes, she tried to reach out to it.

Calm. Relaxed. Warm. Safe. Secure. Tranquil. At peace.

She pictured the words behind her eyes and imagined she was sending them to him through her fingertips, slowly feeling his muscles let up a bit. A soft smile fell on her lips and she took her hand back.

"Now show me your rest position," she returned to the front of the group and glanced over each person, correcting a few of their postures. Shōta's was perfect, almost uniform. "Let's do a few slow breaths before rolling the mats."

Lei felt her breath come in, allowing it to fill up her chest- and then a little extra into her belly- before holding it for a few seconds, only to be released back into the dim room. Opening her eyes to look back at the class, she saw everyone working on their own breathing, eyes closed. The only other person with their eyes open was Shōta, who had them scanning the room as he exhaled.

Shaking her head softly, Lei excused the class for the day and slowly opened the curtained windows of the small studio, smiling at the natural light. Then she did her routine extinguishing of the candles set around the room, seeing as the incense had already burned out.

"Saitoh?" A gruff voice asked from behind her. She could already sense him there, so she wasn't too surprised when he called out.

Turning and looking up at him, she waved her hand. "Oh please, call me Lei."

"Lei." He nodded.

"Did you have a question? Most first comers have questions," she grinned.

He nodded again and adjusted his black T-shirt. "You commented on my energy earlier. How do I fix it?"

Lei looked at his shoulders, which were surrounded by a little more of a lighter haze than before. "Well, it's not exactly a kind of thing that you can fix right away, nor should it be looked at as a problem. Your energy, or aura, changes depending on your physical and mental state. Seeing as you're perfectly healthy," she gave him a once over with her eyes, trying not to stare for too long, "I would assume that there's something going on in that head of yours. You could talk to someone close to you, go to a therapist, meditate... I don't know, what do you normally do?"

He blinked. "I.... nothing?"

Lei giggled. "That could be part of the reason. You need to be in touch with your mental and physical being as much as possible."

"How do I do that?"

"I tend to meditate. I have a class Tuesday. It's open to anyone. You could stop by if you like."

He nodded. "Okay. Thank you."

Bowing stiffly, he turned to leave. But Lei called out. "Wait! Is there somewhere important you have to be? I can start with you now, if you'd like. Someone cancelled their private lesson and I have an empty spot for the next hour."

"Oh." He turned back around and rubbed the back of his neck. "Are you sure?"

"Yeah!" Lei smiled. "We can work on those intimidating shoulders." She blushed, realizing how that sounded. "Intimidating as in they are full of stress and are kind of yelling at me right now."

Shōta was a little pink. "Ah- yeah. Probably. I heard about your quirk. How does it work?"

"Sit there," Lei pointed to a bean bag she threw to the center of the room, "And I guess I can just... see your energy. Not like energy transfers, because then your whole body would be covered in it and I would probably go blind- but just where it is stagnant or where it likes to linger." She moved so she was kneeling behind him and placed her palm just above the center of his shoulder blades. "Like how yours is right here."

"And you can control it?"

She giggled. "Not exactly. I can coax it into listening, but it's nothing like telekinesis. It's more like a child. Some children listen because they were taught to respect those in charge. And others, like yours.... they're like stubborn toddlers. Eventually they have to listen, but you have to be patient and kind."

He scoffed. "Are you telling me that I'm a toddler?"

"No, no, not at all. Your aura is." Lei giggled. "You're more like a sinister, mysterious man. You've got the whole dark and broody vibe going. It's enticing."

She could feel his energy flutter slightly and blushed, not realizing she would have that effect on him. "Anyway- right now I'm telling it to try to disperse to different areas of your body. I'm kind of testing it to see if it's willing to move,"

She settled both hands on his shoulders and ran them down to his forearms, then back up softly to his neck, trailing them down his spine. She could feel him shiver, which was a normal response to this technique, but his energy was saying otherwise. He seemed to be attracted to her, which made Lei blush. He was definitely a handsome man, with his long black hair pulled back in a bun and his toned body just begging to be touched. Lei blinked the thoughts away, realizing her hands had been on autopilot and were now circling around his shoulder blades. "There we go. It's starting to listen. Take a deep breath." She let her fingers go up to the top of his neck wile he inhaled. "And now release." She slowly followed his spine with her fingertips as his lungs emptied, feeling his energy start to spread.

"That felt... different." He commented. "Is that normal?"

"It's not uncommon. Looks like your aura has definitely softened up." She rubbed his shoulders gently. "I think that's enough energy manipulation. Why don't you lay flat on your back."

He followed as she had instructed, his head at her knees and the rest of him stretched out on the floor.

"Now let your hands fall comfortable at your side or on your belly. I'm going to take your head in my hands, and I need you to relax the best you can."

He nodded and lifted his head up for her as she wrapped her hands along the bottom of his skull, thumbs on his jaw muscles. "Unclench. I'm not going to hurt you." She whispered, moving her thumbs in circles on his skin.

Lei could tell that he wasn't used to being touched like this, which saddened her. Intimate touch was what she considered on of the most important parts of mental health. "Now, close your eyes and relax your shoulders. I'm going to lead you though a short meditation to help you get to a calmer headspace."

Shōta closed his eyes, his long lashes brushing his cheekbones. Lei studied his face for a second, from his stubble to his lips, to his nose and eyelids. He seemed relaxed, almost as if he were sleeping. Lei let her fingers release their grip ever so slightly.

"Imagine I drop a grain of sand on your forehead. Feel how light it is, how ever-so-slightly warm. Such a small thing, with such a bigger purpose. Now, as that grain settles, more spread from it, dividing in a calm manner, spreading their warmth. It's a slow process, but it begins to reach your eyebrows and hairline, spreading in all directions. It's gaining in weight as well as heat, but it's a comfortable feeling. It spreads over your eyelids and the crown of your head, gaining speed as it multiplies, relaxing every muscle, no matter the size, with its warmth.

"Now, feel it going down your cheeks and nose, soothing the back of your skull and covering everything in this invisible blanket. It's heavy and filling, making everything seem as if it were in slow motion. Soon enough, it's reached your lips and is working it's way down the back of your neck."

Lei paused, watching his facial muscles relax. "Now, it covers over your chin. Everything that the sand comes in contact with begins to soften, enveloped in a warm, comforting sensation. It's as if the muscles are brand new, the skin is repaired, and the energy replenished.

"As it makes its way to your chest, your breath evens out into a steady pace at which you can feel is close to a sleeping pattern. The sand continues multiplying as your breaths come and go like the ocean waves."

Lei continued guiding his mediation, closing her own eyes as she monitored his energy. It was already soothed, settling at the base of his torso. She could feel it mellow out, close to a sleeping state. Grinning to herself, Lei let his head relax onto the floor and cupped the sides of his face as she spoke soothingly of the ocean.

Soon enough it was over and he was in a Zen state, his chest rising and falling evenly with each breath. Lei had a strange urge to play with his hair, but she ignored it as she sat cross legged above his head, palms upturned on her knees. She focused on her own mental state and allowed her mind to be calmed, releasing her grip on his energy.

Shōta stirred, slowly sitting up and turning to copy her position. "That was... I've never felt so relaxed."

Lei chuckled. "I could tell. If you don't mind me asking, what do you do for work?"

"I'm a teacher."

"That explains a lot."

They both laughed, his smile making his eyes crinkle at the edges. "I guess so,"

Lei stood and stretched her arms up. "Well, that was a lot of progress. I suggest you drink a lot of water and get a good nights sleep. After all, it is Friday. No school tomorrow," she winked.

Shōta nodded. "Thank you. Speaking of no school.... do you teach on Saturday's?"

"I do not," Lei shook her head, watching as his energy flustered nervously.

"I don't normally do this- obviously. But... would you like to grab coffee? I understand if you-"

"Sure," she smiled. "I would love to."

His entire being relaxed. "Oh. Good."

"There's a place just around the corner. Does noon sound good?" Lei questioned with a smile.

Shōta nodded and looked down at his feet. "Thank you."

"Thanks for asking," she touched his shoulder gently. "Don't loose touch with your energy now, I could feel you connecting with it earlier. I'll see you tomorrow?"

He nodded again, following her out of the classroom and into the evening light. They parted ways with a small, awkward wave, and Lei began her walk home.

A/N: Hey! How do we feel about this one? Should I continue it? Honestly I just felt like winding down when I was writing this one. Feel free to comment any ideas/headcanons you want me to test out!
