Chapter 2: Third Squad Jam
The drive back to Karen's apartment didn't take too long for there wasn't much traffic at this time of day. It had just officially turned nightfall, approximately around 8PM. Usually the four adults would be drowsy at this time however this wasn't the case for them at all. It was probably due to the caffeine or the parfait Miyu digested. After all, a night out among friends was always exciting for most individuals. Even though this day's schedule was planned at the last minute thanks to a special grenade launcher girl, The tall black- haired girl had a good amount of amusement for today. Another good advantage for her was the cute new outfit. The gold dress, very useful for special events. Though Karen didn't really think she'd be attending a special event. She preferred staying by her flat and entertain herself. She didn't need to meet new people and stress herself out even more if they decided to notice how particularly tall she was compared to most girls.
The black-haired girl sighed and walked through the exquisite sidewalks of Tokyo. She was accompanied by Miyu who proposed to stay by her flat for her time visiting the state. Despite it not being a reason like going to Elsa Kanzaki's concerts, a day with her best friend, Elsa Kanzaki herself and a hot guy was certainly a good reason to not go back to Hokkaido on the same day that they all hung out.
Besides, it's not only because of that. She wanted to spend more time with Karen as well. She felt as if SJ II wasn't enough "best friend" bonding. All they cared about was eliminating a good portion of players off the tournament. They certainly succeeded and today right here was the aftermath to all their hard work. "Did you have fun today, Miyu?" inquired the tall girl out of the blue. The tortilla-haired girl glanced at the other girl who was walking alongside her.
"Are you kidding me? Kohi? Today was the best!" She exclaimed and raised both of her arms. Causing her shopping bags that are in both hands to pump up in the air as well. Luckily, none of the fabric of the clothes flew out. That would have discouraged the grenade launcher girl massively. Karen snickered silently and shut an eye. "I'm glad. You see? They're nice people, right?" She brought up the topic about their two new friends. Miyu nodded at her question. "Oh I agree. I still can't believe that those are the real people behind M & Pitohui. I really didn't expect-" she cut herself off as a small smile formed on her lips. A high-pitch burst was let out afterwards.
Miyu was ready to fangirl again. Playing out a similar event to what happened after Goushi dropped them off after meeting Pitohui in real life for the first time.
"You know, I didn't expect that either. But who cares?" Karen paused to giggle softly. She looked up to face the starry navy sky. There was a little bit of gratitude and happiness in her expression. Miyu waited for her response to her unfinished sentence. There were a brief minute of silence between the two girls as their heels clicked against the cold ciment sidewalks. "I'm just glad that they're alive. That we got to kill them in SJ." She explained easily. Which brought up an immediate response from Miyu. She tapped Karen's right shoulder, softly since she did have a shopping bag in that hand of hers. "Kohi, you have a big heart." She stated. From there on, there wasn't much of conversation between them. They turned to their left in which they met a few more shops. Convenient stores and a few clothes boutiques. When one's passed them, there were two apartment blocks straight on. The first one that was seen was where Karen lived in.
~~~~~
Getting comfy for the night and both girls in their pyjamas, Miyu yawned and let herself fall on the mattress that was fixed for her the small living room's ground. She didn't let the table in the center of the room bother her too much. Aside from the fact that she might bump her frontage against the table's legs. She grasped her pillow and noticed Karen coming out of her room. Dressed in her signature: "Pink devil" coloured night wear. She smiled softly and observed her friend's gesture. "Are you comfy? Need something?" She suggested. However, to her surprise, Miyu didn't need much. She simply shook her head but grinned: "Well I don't need anything for my sleep. But before going to bed, I say we listen to some Elsa Kanzaki songs." She requested with a finger snap. Karen chuckled at her typical request. That was indeed Miyu right there. It just doesn't satisfy her to already meet Elsa in person.
Karen nodded afterwards and walked back to her room to grab her phone from her tall dresser. She returned to her guest right after, wasting no time to just stand in her room and check out her emails or notifications in general. "Any song in general?" She questioned and opened her small device. Putting in her password as Miyu spoke with simplicity: "I was thinking 'Independence' or 'Pilgrim'." She replied and yawned once again. Karen leaned on the doorframe and swiped her phone to the right to show the other apps she had on her phone. Carefully choosing the music player app she used for when she was studying for example. "Seems to me miss, you're tired." She joked. Earning a typical groan and start of a nag from her friend. She hugged the pillow tighter and stood up. "Come on, it could even be one song and then we go to bed." She begged. Karen sighed in defeat. "Fine."
Her finger hovered right above the music-note icon signalling that it was in fact the music player app. She was about to click it until the buzz of her phone stopped her. A small window by the top of her wallpaper screen popped up. It was her emails. Huh, how funny, how would email her at around 9PM? She opened the app that shown all of her emails. There was the name: "Zaskar" shown on the recent email she just got. Karen gave a nervous expression at first. "Hey, what's up? Everything ok?" Miyu asked, turning onto her stomach.
Karen nodded and opened the email. "Yeah just give me a second, Zaskar just emailed me." She explained and began reading the expected short message- It wasn't so short coming from a popular like Zaskar. They already knew that.
"Dear players, we are happy to announce the development of a third squad jam. It will be held on August 10th at 16 hours. The sponsor-or we should say sponsors of this event will be: Lilla Sumōrubīn & Rumi Boido. Make sure to bring along with your friends to form your squad for his incoming event. We have great confidence that this time's squad jam will certainly interest you for a new rule has arrived into the tournament. For more informations, please email the folks by our company. Thank you, hope to see you soon. -Zaskar."
~~~~~
Karen's eyes widened after she read the email out loud to Miyu. Who had the almost exact reaction as her when she processed what the email actually meant. She raised her hands up in exasperation. "No way! Another squad jam?!" She exclaimed, obviously stunned. Another squad jam huh? That was certainly unexpected. The black haired girl replied to her shout: "I can't believe it either. Oh my gosh...I..." she was interrupted by the other girl sighing to calm her excitement. "Bummer, when I was planning to return into ALO as well.." she shrugged and laid back down on her sleeping bag. Karen felt a tad guilty and turned away. She softly formed the words:
"You know Miyu, you don't have to participate. You don't need to worry. I'm sure Goushi and Elsa would tag along as well. Unless Pito wanted a rematch.." She vocalized the last part of the sentence quietly. Almost inaudible to one's ears. Though her friend heard it without a problem. "What? No, I wouldn't leave you hanging Kohi. Besides, I want to help LLENN again! I want to fight again! Because hell, I'll tell you, SJ was one heck of a ride. " she pumped her fist up. Karen smiled warmly at that. "Thanks Fuka."
Next, Karen and Miyu both decided to call the two others to see if they were informed about the upcoming squad jam. It still surprised them that it was only 2 days away. For Karen, being surrounded with fangirls and a fanboy about guns, It felt like 4 hours. The black haired girl sat down beside Miyu on the sleeping bag and quickly dialled Goushi's number. There was a day that they were messaging eachother, he slipped it in their conversations as he thought it might be handy if Karen needed or if he needed to consult her for Pito's sake. The phone buzzed once again as they were trying to reach the excellent sniper's whereabouts. Both girls trembled slightly, obviously impatient about this whole surprise. Come on come on, pick up. Thought Karen as she tried not to drop her phone.
Finally, after the phone buzzed about 3 times, a calm and indifferent tone picked up: "Hello?"
Like a shout, Miyu was the first one to answer, interrupting Karen when she was gonna respond with: "I hope you're having a good night. I'm sorry to bother you.". The girl fixed her glasses and shouted at the top of her lungs. "Yo M! Have you heard about the new Squad Jam coming up?" She inquired quickly, wanting to receive an answer right away. The man responded from the other line with a agreeing "mhm" then after that pause he spoke once again. "I heard from Elsa's tantrums." He explained without hesitation. Like he wasn't scared to get punched in the gut by the woman herself. Karen pressed a hand over her lips to avoid a chuckle coming out.
"What? Tantrum you said? " she repeated what he just explained. Goushi sighed and his voice got distant for a second. Miyu and Karen assumed that it was because he changed head views of he walked into an echoey room. "She does that often. When things doesn't go her way or when something pains her." He said. There was a slight silence. Yep, that was typical Pito alright.
Minutes later, the three of them were all discussing about the terms of SJ III. Until light footsteps were heard from Goushi's end of the line. A small voice accompanied it, the two girls already knew who it was. "Goushi, who are you talking to? It's late." It was Elsa Kanzaki. She just stepped into their bedroom. She was probably by the living room like she always was, just reading fanmail. Ever since Karen wrote her one, she decided to start doing so. The man responded to her inquiry by giving out their friends' identity. It was alright to do, they were friends now. Real friends. When Elsa heard who the people on the other line were, she huffed and let out an annoyed squeak. "Put it on speaker dammit! I want to talk to them. You should have told me sooner, the minute you picked up the damn phone. You damn idiot." She cursed and tapped on the speaker button.
Surprised by how she just talked back to Goushi, Miyu greeted her with a happy tone. Despite feeling extreme remorse for the man right now. "Hi Pito!" She decided to use her in-game name since it was a tad embarrassing and way over the top if she used her idol's name. It seriously felt like a dream. How she was finally able to talk to her idol for these years to come. Plus, the best part was that they were super-close now. Miyu didn't regret coming to Gun Gale at all. She'd have Karen to thank for that. Elsa giggled and and sat down on the bed, holding onto the phone. Goushi kept his distance and stayed leaned against the wall. "Heya Fuka." She shot back jokingly then asked: "Is Karen there?". Hearing her name, Karen snapped out of her thoughts. "Yes! I'm here! Having a good night, Elsa?"
The small girl responded with a positive: "Mhm. I am now, because I'm talking to you guys."
~~~~~
The four individuals talked over the phone for about an hour and a half. It was around 10:30PM when they finally dropped the phone. The comrades were discussing about a new team consisting of: LLENN, Pitohui, Fukaziroh and M will show the other players participating in the tournament that they were trespassing on their battlegrounds. The four made a plan that night. They went over a few battle strategies, their positions in the team, as well as the guns they'll be using. M suggested as well that they brought along the minor weapons like plasma grenades. Much to Pitohui's annoyance due to what happened back at the log cabin. Perfect for a suicide if you asked the man. Lastly, there was the team name that they needed. The four didn't have many ideas at the time and wanted to forego with the tradition of using their avatar initials. Thus, Team LPFM was suggested and currently was their name if they didn't find anything else.
In the Third Squad Jam, LPFM was a team name meaning nothing else but victory.
LillaSmolBean: Hi! Thank you for reading chapter 2 of Meteors. I hope you liked the chapter even though not much was going on. If you did, make sure to leave a vote and comment down below if you have anything to say! Alright, that's the main introduction over, Talk about the chapter? What's my favorite part in writing it? If I had to be honest, I'd say the end. When the narration explains what they talked on the phone. For some reason I felt a very "confident-step up" feeling when I wrote that. I seriously think that Team LPFM will give off an incredible battle when the true Betrayers' choice part 1 comes out. Anyways, that's my note ended! I'll see you all in chapter 3!
That's all.
RumiVoid: Ello Ello. RumiVoid here back with another chapter of Meteors. Make sure to vote on this chapter if ya liked it. It's alright if you don't, you don't have to. Me and Lilla are open to discuss theories since we both love AGGO as much as anyone. I guess I can start talking about what I liked in my chapter? I'd have to say once again the interactions between Karen & Miyu. It's so cute though! I really do love seeing them together. And I sorta...ship them? I don't know if Lilla does but I'll ask her around. Writing their interactions was like a privilege for me. I always love these cute best-friend interactions so I certainly had fun!
