Chapter 5: Soft and mushy

| LEXI MICHAELSON |

"Lexi?"

"Yeah?"

"Do you know that girl? She keeps glancing over here." Blake informed me.

"Where?"

"The table diagonal to ours after three more. Don't look just now..." Blake whispered in my ear. I tilted my face because it tickled when he whispered.

After few seconds, I glanced at where he wanted me to show and I was shocked and confused.

What was she doing here?!

I forgot that she told others to follow me. Obviously she would. Bitch.

"Who's she?" Madison asked.

"My cousin. Amy." I replied to Madison. Amy wasn't looking my way yet so I sent imaginary knifes her way to kill her.

"Shit. What do we do?" Madison panicked, more than me. Blake was still confused. I told him that my cousins are so leech that they won't leave once you've caught. He was emotionless, showing he was not scared a bit.

"She can't know you're my friend or I'll be killed." I panicked.

"Why?" He said. I stared at him and he hesitantly said. "Then what should I have to pretend?"

"I don't know, I thought you were good at this stuff?" I taunted him.

"Okay then, I'll pretend I'm Madison's boyfriend. That way she won't have a doubt. Right, Maddy?" He winked at Madison and instantly, I felt something sharp tugging at the bottom of my stomach.

"Sure. It's fine." Madison shrugged it off. Blake stood up from beside me and pushed his chair close to Madison and smiled at her. She smiled back and they looked at each other for a few seconds.

"Okay, guys. You're already making me gag. Stop it." I rudely interrupted.

It's been two days since I met Madison and 'accidentally' met Blake. It's funny how I started to call him Blake instead of Black Coal. It's because he wore all black on the first day and I didn't know his name so I called him black coal instead.

Amy has been staring at me as if planning to eat a prey. I don't know, but I think she's planning to bring out the mall incident to my father who will be furious that I was at a mall with a boy sitting so close to me. I'm almost twenty for god's sake.

Yesterday night, at the dinner, Amy was about to speak but I spilled the water at the table 'accidentally' to prevent her from talking and mom to go all crazy to clean up the mess. She can't bear a single sheet of wrapper in the home.

Since tomorrow is Monday, I was glad that I'll be leaving shortly to attend classes with peace. I don't know about others, but I get Friday, Saturday and Sunday, off. I can't believe it's been two weeks since I started going to university. Is it bad to say that I'm excited to meet Blake and see how he flirts with Madison and in the end, get my heart twitched with Sadness? Yes it is.

I think I really can't help but think that I like Blake's company in a way. If he wouldn't be there at the mall, me and Madison would have been so bored. But I'm not really glad that he laughed at me. I was really upset. Fact about me is, I don't like being horrified that somebody just popped out of nowhere and scared the shit out of me. That's rude.

My mom called me downstairs for dinner as I laid on my bed, thinking about Blake. I walked down to see Amy in the kitchen, alone. She glared at me and narrowed her eyes.

"I saw you with a boy, yesterday." She simply said.

"So? He's my friend's boyfriend. I have nothing to do with him." I lied quite coolly.

"Yeah? He sat so close to you." She accused.

"Yeah. We were talking about tomorrow's class. What were you doing there, without any shopper, by the way? Came to spy on me?" I hotly asked.

"Whatever you think." Then she left to the living room.

Thank God for the lies, otherwise I wouldn't have been escaped Amy's banter. She didn't even let that out because it had her own fault too. I could easily accuse her of spying on me while I was just talking about tomorrow's class.

After dinner, I walked back to my room and saw that I had one missed call from an unknown number. I furrowed my eyebrows and called the number back.

The person answered on the third ring. "Hello?"

"Blake?" I immediately recognized his voice.

"Hey there, Rosie Posie." I rolled my eyes at his stupid nickname he decided to suddenly give me.

"What do you want?" I asked.

"Chill. I just wanted to hear your voice." I could feel him smirking to see how annoyed I can get.

"Well, now you did. Goodbye." I started to hang up but he shouted my name so loudly that I heard it even though my phone was not on my ear.

"Lexi wait!"

"What is it?"

"Come outside." He blurted out.

"What?" I was confused.

"I can see you through the window. Come outside." I immediately walked closer to the window to see him looking up at me with a smile on his face and phone up to his ear.

"I'm not coming out. It's late." I argued.

"Come on, now." He tried. "I brought you burgers."

I grinned. "Really? I mean, you're not joking?"

"Nope." He said. "I'm waiting." Then he hung up.

I quickly went inside my bathroom and brushed my teeth, checked my face, grabbed my jacket, put my hair down from the nasty bun it was, and walked downstairs. However, I did not change my clothes. I was in a pair of grey sweatpants and a green colored T-shirt. Thankfully, no one was downstairs except for mom, she didn't even ask me where I was going so I shouted a 'be right back' to her.

Walking out of my house, a couple of feet away, I saw Blake leaning on a brick wall with a sly grin on his face and brown paper bag in his left hand with a big 'M' written on it.

"Hey babe." He said.

I giggled. "You sound like my boyfriend."

"I wouldn't mind being one." He admitted smugly. Butterflies were set free in my stomach at this sentence as I looked at him with admiration on my face.

"Shut up. Don't be so soft and mushy, now." I said.

"Soft and mushy." He mimicked and joked about it. We both chuckled and walked side by side to the end of the street and to a park around it.
