Chapter 38: Halloween party
| LEXI MICHAELSON |
Me and Blake finally agreed upon us attending the Halloween party at Vince's house. We literally had a huge argument about the pros and cons of going to the party, and it took us another day to decide what we were gonna impersonate as.
After all, we decided on the typical, scary nurses. He'd be a male nurse with a bloody hand in his pocket and I'll be very sexy but scary nurse who will have her whole face painted like a skull. I suggested Blake that he should, too, paint his face but he declined and told me that it was enough if he was escorting me to the party because of some crazy idea going in my mind. His words, not mine.
I refrained from telling Blake about my ulterior motive behind attending the party. I just told him I needed to confirm it before I could even tell anyone.
My parents hesitantly allowed me to go to a party, but when I added Blake was escorting me there, they were hardly holding themselves. The idea of a 'party' was itself a dent to our beautiful family name, but me going with a boy who I'm romantically linked with, was on whole, new, other level. But I convinced them, somehow.
So here I was, laughing my arse off when I saw Blake in a bloody white uniform with a little white cap on his enormous head. His face bored a seriously annoyed look which made him look even funnier. But the funny thing I noticed and was laughing so much about was that the trousers were very short so they dangled off from the middle of his calves. The sleeves were also very short. His biceps were lean and perfect, but the sleeves were half and perking upwards like someone from street fighter in Asian country. All in all, he looked very, very funny in the nurse costume.
"Now you're laughing. Okay, laugh. Laugh all you want." He closed the door of his room and locked himself in.
I steadied myself and knocked at the door. "Okay! I'm sorry! Come out again?"
"I'm not going in this annoying costume! I look like a fucking drunk rapist!" His voice boomed from the other side of the door.
I giggled. "Maybe that could pass as the Halloween costume? Come on, we can't miss the party now."
"I'm not going. You can go if you really wish to." He grumbled.
I cooed. "Come on, now. You can just go in your all Black attire. Just get a batman mask from somewhere and it'll be good to go."
After a moment, the door opened. "That's not such a bad idea! Thank you, Rosy. I love you." He kissed my cheek and made my mind go haywire.
I could never get used to the sentence regarding him loving me.
After we both were done, we left his house and drove to our destination: Vince's house. By God, his house was even fancier and bigger than mine and Blake's combined.
"Did you know Vince's last name is Accorsi? He is the son of Adriano Accorsi." I blurted out when we were walking towards the door.
We walked in and saw different type of guests in different costumes. Blake cringed visibly at the stale smell of alcohol and sweat. "I knew it already. Did you not?"
I stared horrified at Blake. "What?" He asked.
"You knew his last name! I didn't! He never told me!" I yelled.
"Oh, for the love of God." He laughed. "You're a terrible friend to him."
"Err, maybe... He's here." I spotted Vince's head as soon as he recognised me and Blake.
"Lexi! Blake! You guys came! Come on in! Come!" He looked different. Why had I felt the need to ask him about his strangeness? Well, his face now showed somewhat of cockiness and slyness.
"Vince." I acknowledged him with a small nod as he hugged Blake, as if there were no feud between them.
"You guys should chill! It's Halloween, after all. But watch out for the scare cams." He grinned. "Lexi, you look scary enough to pass as a mad woman."
That earned him a slap from me. "You didn't need a costume, bro. You're scary enough." Blake retorted.
Vince just shrugged and laughed. "So how's your family, Lexi? Everything's good?"
There we go with the family thing.
"Isaac was asking about you, by the way." I said.
"Yeah? Tell him we will meet soon." His eyes held so much slyness that it was scaring me.
"Will do."
"Well, why don't we all enjoy? Lexi, let's check out the drinks, shall we?" Blake jumped in, realising the unspoken tension in the atmosphere.
I smiled and walked off with Blake, but couldn't shrug off the sense of someone watching my back intently, which made goosebumps appear on the back of my neck. I gulped, suddenly feeling very claustrophobic in the large kitchen of Vince's mansion. I felt my hands go sweaty so I quickly pulled it off from that of Blake's. Upon this, he looked at me, worry in his eyes.
"Lexi, are you sure you're feeling okay? We could go back..." He said.
"N- No... I..." I mumbled.
If I go back, nothing of the sort I'm planning would be done. I have to do this tonight to save myself and my brother.
"I'm fine. Let's have a drink." I said, determination clear in my voice.
I grabbed one of the spooky looking orange drink from the counter and chugged it in one go. When I was about to put the glass down, I felt a pair of eyes watching my every move.
I shrugged the feeling off and tugged at Blake's hand. "I wanna dance." I whined, already feeling tipsy.
But I guess he didn't listen since he was engrossed in a conversation with another lean built man. I frowned and walked off towards the dance floor, where all the party goers were dancing to the current pop song.

Ten minutes into dancing, I felt someone grab my hand and drag me towards the stairs which were leading up towards first floor. The person's grip was tight and the reason why I couldn't see the person's face was because of the harsh and dark lightening. It was very difficult to make out the face in this dark yet bright light.
Panic rose within me and I started thrashing, like literally thrashing. I looked down at the person's hand to justify the gender of my captive, and quite amazingly, it was a woman's hand.
Yes, a woman. With a lot of bracelets and a black watch and waxed hand. I could easily tell that it was a woman. But who could it be? The only women I had not so pleasant relationships were my cousins and Aria. But was it Aria? Or one of my cousins?
I hadn't noticed that the woman threw me in a bed, literally. And then I had the privilege of seeing her face.
Let me tell you, it was not a familiar sight.

That will be very much appreciated.
Also, the book Metanoia is coming to end very soon! I shall post the author note which you should read, because it is also bomb. 🔥
If you don't want to, it's fine too. But it'll literally clear things up!
