Chapter 3: Another fruit to the basket

| LEXI MICHAELSON |

"Really? I live on Joseph Street." I told the girl, Madison that I just met two hours ago, and we were walking together to the next class which is accounting.

I have seen her when I was in the second semester of my junior year but other than that, she's been discreet or she disappeared.

"And I live just around the corner of Joseph Street. Been living there since childhood. You should come over sometime!" She cheered.

"Well, I look forward to it." We walked in the class and sat on the second desk on the middle column.

Sitting down, I felt a presence on the other side of me where Madison was sitting. She nudged me and I looked up to see Black coal standing by my side.

"What is she doing in my place?" He accused a finger at Madison.

"Keep it low, and stop playing the victim card. I sat with her today, what's the big deal in it?" I said, lowly.

"What about me? Where would I sit?" He said.

"You can sit somewhere else, make new friends, and hang out with them. Have some guy friends, damn!" I chuckled.

"But I thought we were friends?" He said, faking a heart attack.

"I never said that. But if you want us to be friends, we can be. Now, let me sit by Madison here." I spoke.

"Oh, so she's Madison. Hey Madison..." He winked at her, and she blushed. My mouth fell practically to the floor.

He was flirting with my new friend just in front of me. How low!

"The class is starting soon, so if you'll excuse us..." I faked a posh British accent.

"Oh why not, my lady." He bowed down for me. "Bye, Feliciano, Nos vemos más tarde." He looked at Madison and left while giving me a smile. I glared at his back.

"What did he just say?" I asked, confused. Was that Spanish or French?

"He said 'see you later' in Spanish." She giggled a bit and shook her head.

I was not a teeny tiny bit happy for this. I was annoyed.

"How did you know?" I asked.

"I'm mixed race of Spanish and British. That's how." She smirked. I see, she has this kind of beautiful but natural olive skin and her eyes are almond shaped while her hair are brownish-blonde.

Playing with the two pens was boring too. It had started pouring outside and then the class sounded boring. The rest if the lecture went agonisingly slow. Black coal was hissing at me from two seats beside me and when I didn't look or gave attention to him, he'd throw something random at me. That's how I had four erasers, ten paper balls, and two different kinds of pen.

Fortunately enough, the bell rang after period of two hours. I got up immediately and told Madison to walk out faster because I didn't want to run into Black coal. We stepped out of the class and someone called my name.

"Lexi, wait up!" It's was a manly yet loud voice. I and Madison turned to look back at the voice and saw a good looking guy walking towards us. He had brown chocolaty hair and a bit of attractive beard. "Hey."

"Uh, yes?" I asked, confused as to why this attractive guy wanted to talk to me.

"I'm Vincent." He gave me a hand to shake.

"Lexi." I said, shaking his hand.

"Cool name." He gave me a signature smile. "Have some time for chit chat?"

"Uh, actually, I'm walking with Madison to my next class. English." I smiled apologetically at him. His eyes moved to Madison by me who was just looking at Vincent, bored.

"Oh, hey... Madison." He smiled at her. "Care to give me the courage to walk with you guys? I'm going to English, too."

"Oh? Yea sure." Madison said and nudged me, I nodded.

When we were walking to class which was in another department, Vincent made small talk because of the long walk ahead. But his questions kind of made me uneasy. He was asking questions which didn't really concern him, which in return made me feel strange about him. He mostly asked about my brother and sister's whereabouts. But I answered, anyway. What could go wrong?

And three of us entered to the next class, which is English. I was not surprised to see Black Coal there, sitting on the second seat by the door. He smirked when he looked at me but stopped when he saw Vince walking by me. "Already made friends on your way here? What are you? Friend-o-magnet?"

"Why are you always following me? That's kinda creepy." I retorted.

"I'm not following you, sweetie. I just happen to have same classes as yours. Business management, Accounting, English." He retorted back.

I was silent because I've made a fool of myself. I walked quietly to sit on the desk beside the one Black coal is sitting at, Madison following behind me. We exchanged a few words until I saw that Vincent and Blake started to chat, sitting side by side.

Woah, it's about time I called him Blake instead of Black Coal.

The lecture went good as usual and before I knew it, it was time to go home. On the way to my car, I was stopped by Vincent and Blake hanging out by their cars, smoking.

"Hey there, crystal rose." Blake winked while addressing me.

"Hi, Lexi." Vincent flashed me a nice smile.

"Hey... My name is not Rose, Blake." I said sternly.

"But your middle name is." He smirked. That damn smirk of his.

"Who knows? I never told you that." I acted cool.

"Yeah? I know, Lexi Rose Michaelson." Black Coal was cocky. So damn cocky.

I was stunned. I didn't tell him that! Who might be the one to tell him? Oh, that might have been the girl who asked me my full name the other day. Thank God I didn't tell her my real full name. My full name is embarrassing, like I had come from a historical castle with majesties and shits.

I glared at Black Coal but it turned icier when Vincent started to laugh lightly. "What are you guys laughing at? My names not funny. Even your name sounds funny, Vincent. As if you are some Italian ruler." I snapped at them. Oh god, I didn't mean to!

Vincent stopped laughing and his face turned serious. Blake was still snickering at me. I don't care if he laughs or cry, doesn't matter to me. Vincent stepped closer to me, his eyes sparkling, kind of. He was close, closer than 5 inches. What is he doing?

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to laugh at that." He spoke, I could sniff the smell of Cigarette and Cologne falling off from his toned body.

"Y- Yeah, uh... It's- it's okay." I stuttered, having a guy close to your body and watching you like that does something to you, however, it wouldn't let me speak without stuttering.

"Still, I-" Vincent was cut off by Blake clearing his throat. But then, Blake stood up from leaning to his car and spoke up.

"Woah, okay, guys. This is cool. Stop the shits of a kiss or snog. This is University for God's sake." His voice sounded annoyed.

Vincent distanced himself a little bit and my mind was hazed. I called out a little goodbye and walked to my car.

Opening the door and sitting outside, I watched them as Vincent kept looking at me while Blake was looking down, at his phone. I moved my eyes on the front and drove away from the perimeter of Kingston University.

Why was Vincent trying to be close? I never felt this stupid and light headed before. My breathing was ragged and I didn't like the feeling. It was something like, I was afraid. Or was this something else?
