Chapter 23: Pool party
| LEXI MICHAELSON |
*Pool party day*
"So, Mr. Michaelson, can I fetch Lexi for today? Like, for a whole day? We are just gonna celebrate at home and I swear, I have no brother or whatever. Lexi and I are best friends and we-"
My brother cut off Madison's ramble while clearing his throat.
I have told Isaac about the pool party and he said he'd cover up for me. He just advised me to be safe and call him if something happens. We were currently having late breakfast because it was Sunday and Madison came to fetch me because I was the co-host of the party.
"Dad, I think you should let her go and celebrate. After all, it's at home, no alcohol right?" Isaac spoke.
"Right, Mr. Michaelson. No alcohol because my parents don't approve of that." Madison smiled at me.
My dad seemed to be pondering over this as Isaac spoke again. "Come on, dad. We can go play Golf today, if you want."
"No golf without me!" I yelled. Isaac smirked teasingly at me. I swear, he's a millionaire or a high school student?
"Yeah, you can go, Alexandria." Dad smiled at me.
"Alexandria?!" Madison shrieked.
Oh god, she didn't know my real name, no one did.
"Uh... I'll tell you about it later." I shrugged. "Let's go to my room first." I held her hand and thanked dad for the permission.
When we were in my room, I closed my door and Madison just gasped at the size of my room. "It's so big!"
I just chuckled and went to my walk-in closet. I took out a peach colour summer dress and laid it in front of me. "Is this okay?" I asked.
"Yeah, but what about the bikini? That's the real fun!" Madison grinned at me.
"Oh... Do I have to wear bikini? They are too revealing!" I whined.
"Of course! Wear one which is not too revealing... Show me your bikinis. I'll pick out the least revealing one."
So she picked out the 'perfect' one and I wore it under my summer dress. I tied my hair up in a braided bun and let my bangs clip to the side loosely. Putting on little make up to enhance my eyes and lips, I finished the look with flats. Me and Madison left the house and got settled in the car.
"Okay, explain. Why did your papa called you Alexandria?" She said while taking a left turn.
"Well, I never told you or anyone but my real name is Alexandria. It's another story why I prefer it Lexi." I said.
"Really? Well, Alexandria Rose Michaelson, we need to stop by Starbucks to get coffee for my mama and papa, plus I need a vanilla mocha myself. Do you want anything?" She smiled politely at me.
"Please. Call me Lexi. And yeah, I'll come with you to see what I'm actually craving." I giggled.
"Here we are, let's go."
We entered Starbucks and quite dramatically, my eyes fell on the last couple I thought I'd see right now. Blake and Aria were sitting too close for my liking but Blake was looking sympathetically at Aria while she was sobbing and talking. I furrowed my eyebrows and nudged Madison who was approaching the counter.
"We don't have time! Let's just buy and go set up the party!" Madison squealed. At this, Blake's eyes moved to us and I gulped.
"Mads, its Blake and Aria!" I whisper yelled.
Madison turned to where I was pointing but it was too late, Blake had already approached us. "Hey..."
His eyes were showing sincerity and desperation. "Blake. Nice to see you." Madison spoke.
"I need to talk to Lexi." He turned to me. "We need to talk."
I glanced at Aria who was sitting and sobbing while holding a tissue and then looked back at Blake. "Why is she crying?"
Aria was such a nice girl despite my jealousy towards her. She might be close to my crush but she's so kind that it falls off of her body every time she shows that beautiful smile.
Wait, crush?
Oh my god. Blake Adams is my crush!
"She's fine. Just crying over something little." Blake answered.
"Something little? That wouldn't be something little, Blake. She's not a brat." I passed him and walked over to where Aria was sitting. On my way to Aria, I heard Blake calling my name to prevent me from going towards her but I didn't stop.
"Hey, Aria. Care to share why you're upset?" I said and sat down.
"Lexi? Promise me you wouldn't mind?" She sobbed.
"No, what is it?" I smiled at her.
"I- I told Blake that I'm in l- love with h- him." Aria let out. "He said he just wanted me a- around to make someone j- jealous. He used me, Lexi! It's pathetic!"
My smile just faltered. So, that's why Blake was stopping me to approach Aria, because that'd ruin his reputation. What an ass.
When I didn't reply, Aria went on. "Now tell me. If you tell someone that you l- love them, would you like it if they tell you that they just u- used you? That's pathetic! I'm pathetic for falling for him!"
So Aria fell for Blake before me. That's partially good because now, I can finally separate from him and that's a good excuse! Right? I can tell my dad that there is no Blake anymore in the picture.
"Right, that's... Pathetic." I looked up and met Blake's eyes. His eyes were boring into mine with so much desperation that it was extremely hard to understand what he meant. Later on, I heard Madison's voice whining about time.
I just nodded and smiled at Aria before strutting off with Madison. On my way outside, I just glared at Blake who was scowling and looking down.
So pathetic.
Why did I even think that I had a chance with him?
When we drove to Madison's house, we got off the car and I told Madison about the whole scene in Starbucks. She seemed surprised and hugged me.
"I got you a Caramel Mocha because you were busy crying with the attention seeker." She rolled her eyes.
"Mads! Aria is not an attention seeker! She's so kind... Blake hurt her, you know? How would you feel-?"
"Yeah, whatever you say... I just don't like Aria and her bratty attitude. It doesn't suit her." She said and we entered her house and towards the backyard where the pool was ready.
"Aria is nice. Well, it's Blake's fault. He used her! It's so pathetic!" I exclaimed.
"Quit it, Lex. Worry about how you're going to manage him at the party later. He said he'll be coming. Plus, you like him, right?" Madison opened the chairs and tables and put stacks of glasses on them. Me? I was just rambling and walking behind Madison.
"Yeah, I do like him. Don't worry, I won't even glance his way--"
Ding dong.
"Guests are here! Bienvenido people!" Madison cheered. "Vamos a divertirnos!" (Welcome! Let's have fun!)
I shook my head. She always turned Spanish when she's excited.
