"Kill you? But you aren't even a living thing to begin with!" Hugo snickered at the android who pleaded to be ended.
"It would be an honor to kill you, Metanoia." Kismet's bladed wings pointed at the fellow android like a sword, gently poking at her neck. The war angel respected Metanoia's wish to be 'killed.' And for her, it would make her mission much easier to complete. "Just give me the orders Hugo."
The man was slightly shocked at how his android acted so calmly towards the white haired android's wishes. He expected her to look at Metanoia with disgust, but instead she was going to grant her a peaceful end. 'However, now is not the time to wonder why.'
"What is taking you so long to decide?"
"Nothing... Go ahead." Hugo sighed. He was indecisive not because he had a change of plans, to return Metanoia to his vicinity, but because of how clever his daughter was. Getting the android out of his jurisdiction was obviously her doing. It wouldn't be a surprise if she still had something up her sleeve even after death.
While Metanoia, on her final moments smiled and uttered a soft thank you to her deceased friends. For giving her the few months to experience what it's like to be alive, and have friends. Even if one has come to resent her for being part of the group.
"I wonder, will us machines have an afterlife? or a god?" Kismet asked, then plunged the dagger edged wing into Metanoia's core.
It was silent, for a few moments. And then there was the sound of beeping coming from the destroyed android. Hugo's eyes widened in realization, 'You are clever, my child.'
"It's a bomb!" The war angel leaped to her cyborg master, grabbing him and pulling him into her arms. Her metallic wings shielding them as the bomb went off.
'A nuclear bomb, Kismet... Looks like this is our end as well. Our destiny. And perhaps, it is the destiny of mankind to live on... Disappointing.'
The sound was deafening. Area the size of almost 1000 km was utterly destroyed, leaving the land barren with a toxic smell. No piece of Kismet and Hugo was left behind. Nor of Metanoia, Lobelia, Saki, and John. Wiped away with the birds and the trees. Ash in the wind. In years time, maybe the land will recover, but their corpses will not be found.
---
"So this is what you were working on a nuclear bomb for, Saki?" John asked his friend while they worked on upgrading the android.
"Yes, I fear that even with all this weaponry I am equipping her with, she will still be unable to fight. We have no one with combat knowledge to teach her-"
"But this bomb will kill us all! You, Lobelia!" He exclaimed.
"No, by the time it activates, I'm sure we'd all be dead."
"How can you be so sure about that!?"
Saki began tearing up. "My deductions are rarely incorrect, John. The possibility of us surviving an encounter with Hugo is low. He's a smart man too."
"Then why did you bring her here..."
"Because I realized that If I continued living like this knowing I have to power to save all the other people within Hugo's jurisdiction- I'd feel just as cruel as he is. I don't want more to suffer as much as you and Lobelia did. I'm... I'm sorry for putting you guys in danger. Oh and uh, please don't tell Lobelia about this."
The boy looked at her with both disappointment yet consideration. "I won't."
