"They've got to be close by." Kismet said as she bent down, her finger gracing the swollen dirt tracks. "Humans get tired quite easily."
"That's true."
The two had spent their time following the youth. They didn't want to admit it, but both were preoccupied, almost forgetting what they came there to do.
Hugo carried his feet as he walked dragged down by the weight of anxiety. While Kismet had been absorbed by the macabre beauty of the dystopian world left to rot.
"Well, should we begin to pick up the pace?" The war angel asks.
"Perhaps."
"Is that a yes or a no?"
The cyborg clicked his tongue in annoyance. There was no evading what the android asked. "Yes." His answer was hesitant, but firm.
"Alright." Kismet lunged up into the air, her wings take one big graceful flap and she was now up in the air scanning below to see if she could spot the fleeing group. Which unfortunately all she could see from her field of vision where she currently hovered was more tracks. To make things even more unfortunate, the tracks took different directions.
"Well this is going to make things a lot less efficient. However it is my fault for spending so much time investing on this ugly yet interesting habitat." The war angel felt a tad disappointed in herself.
"Have you found them?" Hugo called out to her while she was once again getting sucked in by her processing thoughts.
"No. They seem to have continued their travel with minimal rest. And it appears they took separate paths as well."
"Damn it." The male hissed. "How many paths are there?"
"Two."
"Alright. That's fine. That's absolutely fine. There's two of us anyway so let's just do this... You take one path and I'll take the other. I have the best of my weapons with me so I'll be fine on my own."
"Ok." Kismet gave him a nod of acknowledgement and began to follow one of the trails, trying not to get too distracted by her surroundings, while also hoping that no more complications are to arise.
The male gave himself a quick stretch then proceeded to the other path, taking a close look at the tracks with a hope he might be on the one in which his daughter walked by. However the thought only made him far more anxious than he already was.
If his insides wasn't completely changed with augmentations, then he already would've thrown up due to the overwhelming anxiety. 'I'll just have to wish for the best.'
