8.Forgiveness?
Now, Avyakta was on a mission to convince Siddhant. She made every effort for reconciliation but was failing. She realized, that, the big mistake she did. To doubt somebody like Siddhant.
In morning, Once, she gave him a bread with a smile made with ketchup and when he looked up at her with a glare, she whispered a 'Sorry'. But he stared at it with a neutral face. Then, what he did, he took a spoon, spread it completely and asked Priya to eat it and himself, went away.
Though, they both continued to go together to their workplaces but keeping themselves completely, quiet.
The more she tried to talk to him, the more he would run away, basically ignore her. She would block his way sometimes but he being himself would find a way.
Avyakta was obstinate that she would make him talk to her and keep everything, okay between them because she can't make someone suffer when it's not their fault.
One Sunday morning, everyone busied themselves in cleaning something or the other. Never getting anytime to look after their house, they thought to give it a cleaning time.
Siddhant, stood on a stool and wiped off the dust. But unaware that the upcoming trouble would become a pain in the arse for him.
He slowly, gradually cleaned each and every surface of the fan. Done,he thought and turned to get down but...
The leg of the stool twisted with his weight, making him fall down.
His yell took everyone's attention. Siddhant tried to get up but his left leg got severly injured. His father and Priya held him and asked to get up but he couldn't even sit properly.
They checked it. Vijay held his leg and tried to pull, twist in some or the other way but in pain he would shout more.
"Bhabhi.. do something na?"
Priya spoke.
"No..no..I'm fine..no need"
Maintaining his rude expression, like always he refused and turned his face to other side.
She sat infront of him and took his leg in her hands but he withdrew it.
"Arey, Siddhant.. when she's helping you, take her help na?"
Vijay spoke, getting up. Savita, too, tried to massage his leg but nothing worked. He thought,he was okay but when he tried to get up, that pain persisted.
Avyakta took his leg and held it tightly so that he may not pull back from her hold, this time. He narrowed his eyes at her but she remained with a composed look.
"Maa..can you please bring some Mustard oil?"
Avyakta asked and few mins later she brought.
Avyakta massaged his foot and calf area for few seconds with that oil and then asked him,
"Mm..Siddhant..
You need to see here..okay.."
"Why? I won't"
In response, he got a smack from his parents.
"Ptch. Siddhant don't be careless towards yourself. It's enough.
Take her help when she's helping you.
Mad boy!"
His mother spoke, anger and care evident in her voice.
"But maa-"
Seeing her mother's glare, he sat like a good boy. He glared at the 4 people who stood behind Avyakta, Id est, Ruchi, Abhay, their daughter,Sanyukta and Priya, giggling at him.
"Okay! Siddhant..
Just see here..at my face ok?
Nothing else.."
He looked at her and she at him. They had an intense eyelock. Remembrance of good-old days, the days he spent with her, her innocent face, flashed infront her. Secretly, he was liking this idea.
"Done!"
Avyakta's voice brought him back to earth.
"You can try to get up."
He did as she said and everything was normal. He could jump and run like usual.
"Avyakta.. girl..what magic did you spell?"
Ruchi asked with raised brows.
"I know..I know.."
The little Sanyukta chirped again, grabbing everyone's attention.
"Avu mami...(maternal aunt) like always..with her soft petal like hands..casted magic on Sid mamu's leg..
She is like a princess in a fairy tale stories..who help everryyonne!"
Avyakta smiled pinching her cheeks. Priya and the little girl clapped for her.
"Okay! If Avyakta is princess then what is Siddhant?"
Priya asked, in a childish tone. Siddhant, meanwhile, got up from his position.
"Obviously.. Prince Charming!
Hahahah!!"
She laughed while putting her small palms infront of her mouth. The little girl had the magic to make anyone gloomy to cheerful.
Everyone laughed But No Thank you from his side. He went away rolling his eyes, and busied again in his work.
"This boy! What happened to him?"
Vijay asked shaking his head sideways.
"Sid..is shying away! Hahah!!"
Sanyukta spoke again, making them chuckle at her words. But soon, a glare from her mother, Ruchi and she was quiet. She certainly, started to talk more like an adult nowadays.
"Leave him..let's do our work.."
Smiling, Vijay asked everyone to get busy in their work again.
Avyakta knew he was hurt deeply but she chuckled at his childness, after giving him a last glance.
.
.
.
.
.
Avyakta and Priya's laugh echoed in the whole room. Later, the morning cleaning, everyone decided to have a rest but these two girls had no mood to take rest.
"You know, Bhabhi..
In my fashion boutique-"
"You work in a boutique?
I mean-"
"Yeah! I did fashion designing course. Everyone was against it, they wanted that there should only be doctors, engineers..etc..etc..in our house but Bhaiya..he wanted me to pursue my dream.
I always had interest in fashion designing. Since, childhood I dreamt of being a very renowned fashion designer.
And see,I have my own boutique and that's because you and bhaiy..."
She paused and looked at Avyakta who was listening to her, intensely.
"Me?"
Avyakta asked totally confused.
"Hmm..you..when.."
With a heavy heart, she could n't speak further. Avyakta understood her words and tried to divert her mood.
"Umm..Leave that..you tell.."
And again they both started chattering.
"Bhabhi, umm.. Is Everything fine between you and Bhaiyaa na?"
"Hmm?"
Avyakta stopped laughing.
She later tried to divert the talk again but Priya was so eager to know what happened between them and surrendering, Avyakta had to agree but she didn't tell the problem.
"Okay! Don't tell me the problem if you don't want. But to resolve it..
I know a way.."
Priya looked at her, chewing her lips, indulged inside, in a war whether to give her this suggestion or not.
.
.
.
.
.
Avyakta had full confidence that by doing this she may achieve this goal.
It was evening and the other family members except Siddhant, Avyakta and Priya had to attend some important party.
So, it is a good day to execute this plan,Thought Avyakta.
Priya showed her thumbs up and got indulged in her work.
Though, Avyakta was reluctant for this but she had to.
Avyakta wore a beautiful peacock coloured saree with embroidered border and busied herself in work in their room.
Soon, Siddhant entered the room and halted at his position. A completely frozen man. His gaze went towards her, who stood talking with someone on phone. For sometime, he felt that his old- Avyakta was back.
As soon as his eyes met with her, he left the place, leaving Avyakta dazzed.
Later,
Avyakta thought to prepare something for him, so that it will be a better chance for her. She would seek forgiveness, meanwhile and treat him with something.
She called Priya and told her that the cake was ready. Priya tried to taste it but Avyakta shooed her away and asked her to call her bhaiyaa.
Siddhant walked with Priya in the living room and gave him a piece of cake kept in a plate. He scoffed.
''What's this?"
"What's this? (Muses)
This is cake bhaiyaa.. have a bite.."
Priya asked while sitting beside him.
Siddhant made an unbelievable face.
"Why are you being so much respectable to me? Do you want something? Money? Or..
Let me guess..mm..you want to go out for party and that too at night and you want me to ask..papa??"
He played with the spoon.
"Shut up!
Can't I even treat you..my dear bhaiyaa with this cake? Hun?"
''Awww...You are so sweet!"
He pinched her cheeks.
"Now,tell me the truth..what do you want?"
He made a serious face and took a bite of the cake. That taste was recognisable. He ate that somewhere. His taste buds were relished by the taste.
"Please forgive."
Priya spoke with pleading eyes and fake grin.
"Forgive? Whom?
You? I remember..you didn't do anything till now..for which I had to forgive you.. Moreover, I never saw you seeking for forgiveness especially from me.."
He took another bite.
"Well..who made the cak-"
His gaze went towards Avyakta, who was busy in doing something on the dining table, roughly. The noise took his attention.
Siddhant glared and looked at Priya, sitting with an innocent face. He looked back at Avyakta, who glanced him once, with a glare and continued doing her work.
"Bhaiyaa....mm..why aren't you eating? Eat na..I'll bring more.."
Priya asked with a tone sweeter than honey.
"Wait!"
He held her arm and let her sit back and His eyes were on Avyakta, with a glare.
"First, tell me who made this cake?
And who is seeking for forgiveness?"
His tone was stern.
"Mm..Bhaiyaa... that..uh.."
He gazed at his sister.
"You know..I don't like chocolate.. tell him or her or whoever made this!
And I'll never forgive him or..HER!"
With a thud he stood up and leaving the half eaten cake, he trodded to his room back but soon turned around.
"I know..you both are together and thinking that you'll succeed, pleasing me but...I'm Siddhant! Remember!!"
Priya flinched at his sudden outburst. She remebered, how much it is difficult to please him. He's stubborn as mule.
With her helpless eyes, she stared at Avyakta, who was gaping at his action. Is he the same Siddhant who was helping her,Everytime, without even asking for a help?
How could he insult someone like this? No Thank you..No sorry..
Oh! That I have to say but still..why such rude behaviour?
Avyakta sighed, defeated and saw Priya shrugging.
Avyakta was searching for something in her almirah. It's been 10 mins for her search but when she got it, she felt someone's presence behind. She, immediately, turned around and came face to face with him,Siddhant who himself was searching for his shirt and stood too close to her.
Though, he never paid any attention to her and kept looking for his stuff, his hand brushed with hers.
From the little space that left between them, she moved out but felt a tug on her hand and a soft, calm voice hit her ears.
"Avyakta"
Siddhant called her.
"Avyakta.. Look here Please.."
Though, everything was new and different for the girl but she had to manage.
Siddhant had a calm face. Avyakta turned to him slowly, his hand never leaving her wrist. He stood close to her, his face showing different emotions.
"Umm..How should I say..this..I mean..Avyakta.."
He had a coy smile on his face.
"Hmm?"
Avyakta felt her plan was becoming successful. With a desperate eyes, she looked at him.
He came more closer, directly staring into her eyes, making her nervous. This was taking a different turn, she thought.
"Mm...Avyakta.. if you are trying to..I mean.."
"Say siddhant?"
"I mean..Are you trying to tempt me or Convince me?"
He gulped.
"Hun?"
"I mean..if you are trying to..convince me..by mm..treating me with a cake and then..wearing this Saree..then..
YOU ARE WRONG.TOTALLY WRONG!!"
He said the latter in an anger filled voice. He jerked her hand and went away.
Avyakta stood there completely shocked of his behaviour and later thought, did she heard a wrong person's advice? Doing all these things proved out to be a silly thing for her. She smacked her head but thought―Is he mad or what?
.
.
.
.
.
Never in her life, she thought that she had to convince someone like this. But she herself was hurt, with his words.
"Hello..Smita..Siddhant this side..
Did Avyakta left home with you?"
Siddhant asked after many hours waiting outside the hospital. It was 7 p.m. in the evening but Avyakta didn't even turn up.
"Hi..Siddhant.. actually we had less work today..So, we left. She told me that she would go herself... but didn't she reached home yet?"
"I thought she's there with you in hospital..I'll try to call home maybe she has reached. You don't worry.Okay? Bye."
His family thought she's with him and which implies that she hasn't reached home yet. His tension has no limits now. In the morning too, she didn't even dare to tell this. He gave her phone, she could have told him by texting but how would she when they aren't on good terms of talking.
The memory of that unfortunate day roamed in his mind. No..this can't happen. He need to be optimistic!
Siddhant was himself very tired and tensed, and her search, grew him more.
After searching here and there, on each road that lead to his home, he reached his home tensed, weary and grewsome. He wanted to cry by now but 'boys don't cry on small things'.
As soon as, he opened the door, he led his way towards the sound of her giggle, ignoring everybody who came his way.
There she sat in the balcony of the living room with Ruchi, Abhay and their daughter enjoying the fresh weather, while chatting and laughing.
Avyakta's laugh soon died down as soon as she came face to face with his swollen, red eyes; hair, a complete mess and clothes, distorted. He gulped down the anger that could burst anytime, soon. Glaring and Gritting his teeth,at her for God knows, minutes, he went away, inside his room, without even hearing his mother, who just came with a glass of water.
Ruchi and Abhay looked at Avyakta, with eyebrows furrowed and asked her the problem, because when Siddhant called home to ask for Avyakta, she was at home and asked them to refuse that she hasn't reached home.
Everyone around the house, looked at the couple , baffled and chuckled at their silliness and childness.
When he can become an angry young man than she's no less than angry young woman. She has her self respect. Let him be this way. She don't have to reconcile him. Whatever!
.
.
.
.
.
"Avyakta!!!"
A loud scream hit her ears. She immediately got up to find the source of this voice. She remembered how Siddhant kept a hard face and slept on the couch, ignoring Avyakta completely.
She got up and saw him shivering, sweating profusely and arms wrapped around himself. The only thing he was muttering was ' Leave her..Leave her..'
Avyakta had her eyebrows creased.
She, incesantly, tried to wake him but he was continued muttering.
The more she tried to held his hand and wake him,the more he made his hold stronger on himself. She was on the ground, half standing and there... she hugged him, consoling him, saying sweet things in his ears.
At the touch of her embrace, Siddhant stopped trembling. His face touched her bare neck, sending chills down her spine. She,repeatedly, moved her hand through his hair. He hugged her tightly, only to hear her raging heartbeat and rousing breathing.
"Av..Avyakta.."
He wheezed and looked up.
"Hmm?"
With tensed eyes, she questioned.
"Y-You'll not..G-Go anywhere na..Y-You'll not leave me..na?"
With his moist eyes, he spoke and she shaked her head in negative.
.
.
.
.
.
"Take this."
Avyakta gave him a glass of water but he refused.
After he came in his senses, he walked up and sat in their room- attached balcony.
They kept quiet for sometime. She could see him still having tears in his eyes and he would repeatedly try to shoo away the mucus that came down his nose.
This was little embarrasing for him. He found a kerchief directing towards him. He gently took it and wiped whatever came on his face.
Avyakta sat down,with a calm face,beside him.
Five mins passed, and no budge from anyone's side. They only stared at what lay infront of them. Night.
"Mm..Sid..Siddhant are you okay,now?"
Avyakta asked to break the silence.
He nodded and with some unknown expression looking at her.
He wiped his face and got up but feeling a tug on his hand,he looked back at Avyakta.
"Sit."
She whispered, gently.
"I'm very..like very ashamed of myself...
Are you still, angry with me, Siddhant?"
She sat infront him and getting back on his seat, he stared at her. Her voice was a pleading one. He looked to the other side.
"I'm sorry.. Please Siddhant?
I know..I should have not judged you that way like a fool... even knowing your side of story!"
Avyakta held her ears but he still didn't looked at her.
"A friend is seeking for a sorry from other friend. Will he not?
Please forgive me Siddhant?"
After a minute, he looked at her, narrowed his eyes and taking the glass of water in his hand, he drank it. She shifted to the ground and sat on her knees.
With a head bowed down, she kept standing there half standing.
"I know I did a big mistake to doubt you in this way. And if you still..think that I'm a wrongdoer..than I'm ready. Give me more punishment. I-"
A palm on her mouth and she was quiet. She glanced him who kept a blank face.
"If I have to give you punishment or whatever...for such things then..I would have not let you stay here with me. In this house."
She widened her eyes while his palm still on her mouth. She held his palm and let it off her mouth.
"So, why didn't you let me?"
Her eyes show guilt and a bit of pain.
"Will you be able to survive, without us...without...
me, now, if I send you somewhere else or back to your home?"
She was numb at his sudden question. She questioned herself.
He looked at her and saw her sitting on her knees.
"Because.. I can't!"
Their eyes met and he expressed something for her,in this moment through that stare.
"Realization.
That's what I wanted and I got that.
Giving punishment or something like that..doesn't prove to be a forgiveness for me."
He spoke, held her palm and glanced at her. She was sitting with a calm face.
"So...
Should I say..you forgive me?"
With a blank face, she looked at him and then to their palms with which he was playing.
He nodded his head on either side, she looked at him, perplexed.
Giving her a stare, he came closer to her. Under the full moon, they both sat together, drowned in their talks.
He held her palms with a strong grip.
"You never are an accuse for me..Avyakta. I only..as I told, want you to realize and you did that.
Because.. I can never blame you for anything...since I will be a big accuse for the whole lifetime for what I have done and remain guilty..''
He whispered the latter with much emotions laced in his tone but much audible to Avyakta.
"You are an accuse? Why?"
She asked him, baffled. He drank water and looked at her.
"Uhm! Leave it..
Avyakta..I myself.. am sorry for my rude behaviour but You understood-
First,you sit on that chair."
He paused and looked at her state. Leaving her palms, he let her sit on that chair, beside him. They both were surprised, that Avyakta, this meanwhile didn't even for once felt uncomfortable when he held her palms.
"You understood that I'm not that type as you think me to?"
He asked and she nodded sideways.
"I know..I know..misunderstandings do happen and you did everything to convince me.Isn't it? Mrs. Sharma?"
She nodded and looked at him when he spoke 'Mrs. Sharma'. He smiled, coyly and gazed down. A smile lingered on her face, too.Though, that words felt beautiful but it was new for the innocent girl. 'Mrs' from 'Ms'
"Siddhant.. I'm really sorry!
I should have not judged you in this way. I know what happened to me but that does not prove,me to accuse you for something without knowing you. I'm guilty.
Uh! This was too much of me.. I just crossed the limits of doubting you!"
A lump formed in her throat.
"I called you with such bad names..huh!! I have self pity on myself."
"No..Avyakta.. please..don't.."
"Stop consoling me,Siddhant!
Don't try to make me feel that I've not done anything. For a wife, this is too much to blame her husb-"
With the latter, she paused. Siddhant raised his eyebrows and looked at her, amused. She sat with a guilty face and a lone tear remained in the corner of her eyes.
What was she about to say? She thought.
Meanwhile, she played with her hands. It was midnight confession for her. She saw her surroundings and found Everthing pitch dark.
"Your cake was tasty! Delicious I must say!"
After sometime, he broke the silence captured by the night's darkness.
She was biting her lips and he saw that. He averted his gaze and called her again.
"Why did you ate half of it, when you hate chocolate?"
She jutted out her lips and then bit them.
Was she calling me in for a kiss? It's been a while she's playing with her lips. Diverting me! Huh!
Siddhant thought.
"Siddhant."
His eyes were on her face, more precisely, on her lips until his thoughts were broken by her voice.
"Hun?"
He asked and she questioned him through her eyes.
"Mm..uh! I never said I hate chocolates..but I just dislike them. That's it."
She nodded and he saw her still drowned in her thoughts.
"Should I tell you something?"
Siddhant asked and she furrowed her eyebrows.
"Next time..don't work with that girl my sister..Priya..
She'll help you lose instead of winning."
He smiled, mischievously. Avyakta frowned and a small surprised smile occupied her face, too.
"You smiled!"
Siddhant's smile grew wider.
She looked at him surprised and was taken aback.
He did that, purposely to make me smile. He's such a gentleman.
"She's your sister. Watch your words..please!
She's such a wonderful girl."
"So..you trust us?"
Siddhant asked, instantly and Avyakta nodded.
"I'm sorry I broke your trust!"
"Ah! Will you please stop speaking Sorry again and again?
My ears are hurt!"
Siddhant fake hurted his ears.
Avyakta stared at him and grinned, inviting him too.
"Avyakta!"
He called her out.
"Don't mind..what just happened..Right now..
I..actually was not in my senses..when I- I hugged..."
Siddhant played with his palms and felt uneasy for his behaviour, since the Avyakta he hugged was not the old one but the new one.
"Do you frequently have these Nightmares, Siddhant?"
She asked while playing with the end of her White colour Dupatta.
He never wanted to tell her that how frequently, he see those nightmares but just to maintain tranquility of the night he denied. He diverted this topic.
"But..Avyakta ji..I have still some part of me which is...little angry with you..."
He faked anger and she frowned.
"Don't ever repeat to give me a heart attack. Before you go somewhere or the other..inform me. You just left me tensed that day...
I'm not bounding you,dear.
Just being considerate about your condition."
'
Dear'!And what about the heart attacks you are giving me Siddhant? First Mrs and now dear?
"Sorry.. Sir..Sorry..
I had to do this, though. But one thing, which I wanted to say is you looked..really..funny..
Red tomato.."
She stiffled her laugh but unable and broke down laughing. Seeing her laughing he joined her. She was happy. Indeed. After many months.
Her tries to seek for forgiveness meant she was accepting him, maybe. She knew somewhere, inside to let her relationship, grew stronger, but unaware.
They didn't had the care of the time but an unknown feeling of peace, occupied inside them.
He gazed at her, for sometime. Her hands on her lap, that were busied in playing with the dupatta. Her face that was void of any sort of makeup; a natural beauty she was.
Sensing him looking at her, she abruptly looked at him and questioned him through her eyes.
"Do you hate me?"
He asked without waiting for a sec.
She was left surprised by his sudden question. She blinked and tried to open her mouth but stopped.
A smile lingered on her face, a shy one.
"And by what judgement did you think that?"
He jut his lower lip out and tried to think.
"Maybe..the recent incidents.."
Avyakta, looked ahead and stroded, stopping infront of the railing. She remained silent and found Siddhant beside her.
Should he ask such question to her? But what's wrong knowing her opinion.
"I don't know what is in my life ahead. Actually..no one..knows Right?
But..I think for now..I feel hating is an inappropriate and gigantic word you used.
What if I add 'like' instead of 'hate'?"
With this, her coy smile widened and refused to look at him. He, too had a lively smile with a frown. After that, no one spoke, understanding the silence of each other.
Siddhant gazed at his wife,Avyakta and realized one thing that he will be definitely falling for her, again.
And she will be too. He knew that She was getting comfortable with him, and that's what he wanted.
Just patience because somethings take time, knowing things would be messy if he makes any hurry.
