10. Nothing But The Truth! -II
Siddhant's POV Contd.
I froze.
I stood still. That was a disturbing scene. My senses were not working. I had become a maniac.
I cried and cried. But I was surprised, that I couldn't take a step forward. I can see Abhay and my father calling me continuosly but I couldn't hear a single word. Except my eyes my whole body became numb.
She couldn't leave me,this soon. This was so mean of her. She promised ,vowed to stay with me for whole seven births. I was lost in several thoughts.
Snap!
A sudden jerk on my hand and I was snapped out of my thoughts, only to shout and run towards Avyakta.
Her body drenched in a pool of blood. I was dumbstruck. It was also a small word to describe my situation.
My breath hitched when she was taken into an ambulance. I walked and sat inside hurriedly.
I held her hand and touched the wounds on her head, on her hands, everywhere. Her head was badly hit. Her oversized kurti intricated with beautiful designs and colours, was now drenched in the colour of blood. Hereyes and mouth that had evidences of the incident took place with her, were shut.
I knew my father was constantly consoling me and Abhay, I didn't know when did he come here. But all I could see my wife, badly hurt in an accident. Our car's window and most of the things were badly hit. Broken, disgustly.
My Avyakta.
Just because of me I had to see her in this condition. This was unbelievable. I saw her. Taking a last glance, she was taken inside ICU away from me. I didn't had care of me.
I was mad. I fell down on my knees on the ground. I wanted her back at any cost.
But, what about our baby?? Where was it? I ran to get a glimpse of her again but was stopped by my father to take a step further.
Moreover, The rage that was buildling inside me was enough to burn any human. I knew whom I was referring to.
Shekhawat and his men.
They were dead. Dead at any cost.
My family and Avyakta's family reached the hospital. She wasn't getting up. It was around 3 months. The weather outside was changed from the winter to summer, still,no budge from her side.
The time we waited for was not coming. We all wanted her to get up but that shocked me to the core when doctor told us that, Avyakta may get up or may die. No...No... life can't be so mean to me, to Avyakta!
People would come and go, consoling me with their words but nothing worked out. Avyakta's condition remained unknown to our other relatives, thinking that when time will come, will tell.
I was myself about to go in depression if Avyakta had not opened her eyes and reacted that day. But her words, after many months left me completely distorted and gobsmacked. She couldn't recognise me. Her own husband!
The austerity of 3 months went all ruined, for me.
Maybe, if everything would have been fine, she would have laid on bed but happily with a small baby of ours, who didn't have any existence now. That baby of ours was stated dead during the initial days of her admission in hospital after her accident. Only, my family knows the agonizing and heart rending period of my life. The day I heard it, it felt with what face would I go to Avyakta to tell her that our baby was lost. We lost it.
I still remember the day,she told me gaily, about her mother instincts but it got all ruined...just because of me.
After, hearing about, how Avyakta failed to even recognise me, failed to
accept my touch. I sat down cursing this wrecked world and this pitilless, merciless world. Shekhawat's meeting with me,popped in my mind after taking a glance of Avyakta.
"She...Shekhawat!!"
"Shh...
Mr. Siddhant, Quiet!"
He whispered with his disgusting voice, panged in my ear. I couldn't stay like that I,wanted to hold him,get him behind the bars.
"What. Do.you. want?"
I gritted my teeth.
"Nothing. Just few mins of yours.
By the way, why are you getting so annoyed Mr.,CALM DOWN!"
He sat near me on the bed.
He was getting on my nerves, I tried to shout but I felt that no one was around my room. That fella infront of me felt pretty annoying that I wanted to kill him through my hands.
"Listen. Mr.Siddhant,
First of all, stop, stalking me because if you are perfect in it then I'm your master in it..
So I'll come straight to the point..
The information will be in our hands and you, yourself will give us...
you are gonna fail for whatever you are doing. And ultimately the reason will be you .
That's because I'm gonna kill you as your wife was unsuccessful in it."
A villainous smirk and my anger had no boundaries.
I tried to punch him but he held my hand and pushing it back, he stabbed a sharp object in my hand. I was half sitting while the pain made me more weaker than before.
"Arey..Mr. Siddhant, I'm only speaking calmly,right?
Your Blood Pressure will increase. Be cool!"
A smile, occurred on his face while I looked at my hand and took out The object, with a jerk and threw it out.
"By the way, I had to agree that you are such a stubborn man. Indeed. Mr.Siddhant....
After giving you many threats and even knowing that your,as well as your family's life is in danger, you didn't retreat back. Did you? No!!
I told you during our phone call, too, that Your death is fixed but..but..but..
There was a twist,
I will not kill you..
But, any member of your family, will become the reason for your death."
He stood up and walked to the couch, and sat with his already occupied smirk.
"Hahaha..
And see,
You are here and your wife,Avyakta..."
"Avyakta?
What? What Avyakta?
WHAT HAPPENED TO HER? WHAT DID YOU DO WITH HER??
TELL MEE..YOU BLOODY SHEKHAWAT!!!!"
I shouted at my top most voice.
"Isn't it too hot in this room?
I would like to turn on the fan."
That bloody fella wanted to turn on the fan in that wintry season. He didn't replied to what I asked.
"Shekhawat.. tell..
Where is Avyakta? Is she safe?
What did you do to her?
The talk was in between us, why are you interfering her in this matter?
Why??"
Meanwhile, I was busy asking him but he was lost in his world. He was checking all the switches of the room to turn on the fan.
"Mr.Siddhant? You should not shout much in this condition.
Ah! This is the switch for the fan..
Screw this hot!"
"SHEKHAWAT!!! I'M ASKING SOMETHING!!"
"MR.SIDDHANT!!!"
He turned around suddenly and strode towards me,slowly.
"Lower down your voice, I said."
I gritted my teeth and I had no fear of my death. I just wanted my Avyakta. My family safe, with me.
"I'm asking you once again,Tell..
Where is she?"
"You want to know where is she..
hahaha!
Well, let's start from the beginning.
Your wife tried to kill you but she was unaware. Unknown to the fact that she would become the person to kill her very own Siddhant.
So..Like you are stalking us,similarly we stalked you. We tried to find a soft target and that was your beloved wife.
The medecines...
You work in that... What is that... Ministry of Bleh Bleh..or whatever.. it is..
How foolish people they have appointed?
There's a colleague of Avyakta.. A doctor by proffession..what was his name, yeah! Let's not talk much about him, but he was with us. He met Avyakta.. and he exchanged the medecines and gave it to her. He just acted to be caring for her and... you and your wife fell..in...his trap. Simple!"
He laughed again and I showed him my muderous glare.
"And after that she made you eat them and you are Pheww!
But Fzck! You are safe!"
"Avyakta?"
I asked killing him with my eyes.
"Oho? Avyakta?
She was also aware of the proofs you were gathering. Right? Really! You both are very witty. People like you both are rare to find but this time, you are failed....And Haan..
So,..we thought to..let her...RIP!
You understand?
Removed In Peace!"
I was horror struck. No! Way..this is impossible. Avyakta, she can't leave me.
"Go and save your wife.
If you can because I don't think you'll left saved from me.
I think they might have completed their task,by now.
A big truck will come plus two cars..behind her and she would be running, driving to save her life..It's quite dramatic no?
But!!! IT'S NOT!!!"
His words felt equal to garbage. I grabbed his collar with gritted teeth and crimson red eyes,I glared at him.
"What did that poor woman do to you? HUN? WHAT??
WHY DID YOU INTERFERED HER?
WHY?"
"I did her? I?
You yourself did. You should have agreed to me on that phone call. I was giving you 5 Crore and in exchange you have to just let me do my work, peacefully.
You let her trapped no? Poor she.."
I was not in my senses. I wanted to save her. But the man sitting infront was no less than a mountain of problems.
"See! If you are still thinking that I would back off from my job then shoo away from my way.
And Avyakta... You tell me..where is she..I WILL KILL YOU!"
Instead a chuckle escape his mouth, while my hands were still there on his collar.
"Cool my boy..cool..
You know I have all the answers for your questions. Like who gave the fake medecines to Avyakta? Where is she,Right now?
For that, you just need to forget about giving that proofs to your team, to your so-called Government and give it to me, so that I can dismantle them.."
''No way..I'm giving you..
Just tell me where is Avyakta?"
Shekhawat stood up,slapping Siddhant's hand away. He took out a knife from his pocket and put it infront of him with his devilish smirk.
"Okay,Then get ready to go to God!
That Rohan..your colleague told the truth. You are such a headstrong and mulish man."
He was about to stab Siddhant when he got down from the bed. A punch landed on Shekhawat's face and similarly, Shekhawat kicked him in return that he fell down. The weakness was high. It was not easy for him to fight with him at that hour. He tried to shout people's name and realized no one was there.
I insisted him, called him with names but he was reluctant as a mule. He was becoming difficult for me.
He tried to stab me again and held my throat but I took something from the side table and hit his head. My breathing rates were high, the intoxication of medecines left me all tired. My eyes were welled up but they didn't left a single glance of my enemy.
He was about to run away but I held his leg, tightly. He kicked me but I never left him. He reached the door and tried to run away. He was out but I was laid down,my half body was inside the room and half outside. I was no way, leaving a chance to get him off my hands but then he took a chair kept outside and a blow, came down hitting my head, and I lost him. He flew away, leaving me then and there only. All I could hear now my father and mother, running to get me up but again I lose someone. This time,it was my enemy.
Another day, I got discharged and ran out to search for her. My love. My wife. Avyakta.
*****
"Siddhant, beta. I know we all lost our unborn grandchild but Avyakta is here with us. She's safe."
I was wrapped by a pair of hands inside the embrace of my mother.
I couldn't stop the tears that made my face. My mother was consoling me from past half an hour.
In these past, 3 months,I was successful with the help of police to find all those involved with Shekhawat. But not him.
I still had a doubt and wanted to find a person who gave Avyakta those medecines, who it can be?
I was hell exhausted. Until, the day,Avyakta opened her eyes for the first time,in these past 3 months. That day I got her back and my enemy too.
With kushal and some of the other people I vanished to a place where my dearest of the dearest enemy was staying, after getting a call from police. My thirst of vengeance could only get fulfilled, when I would see him having a death sentence.
I filed a case against him. In all those times, when Avyakta refused to come back to me, to even spare a glance to me, I busied myself to get him what I wanted. Our evidences were stronger, plus I had government support too but only one person's hearing was required, It was Avyakta. But how could I?
The task was difficult but was not impossible.
For the first time in my lifetime, something for which I could never forget myself will be Avyakta's state. But I'll get her justice.
END OF POV
Avyakta couldn't decipher the situation. She couldn't stand, fumbling, in a fraction of seconds, she fell down. Her face showed the emotions of big shock written on it. Everything around her, seemed virtual. This cannot be true. Everything confessed by Siddhant was reality of her life. But she didn't expect it to come, in this way. Siddhant's face left the tears of betrayal, agony and pain that somewhat left through the deep surfaces of his heart embedded, since long. Avyakta felt her face wet with tears.
Infinite questions roamed in her mind. Unable to understand, where to start from.
The darkness of the room enveloped them but not the truth, that day.
As soon as, Siddhant was left with no words, wiping his face he turned to see her. It looked as if her shock was beyond the boundaries. She wasn't aware of her tears that made their way down through her eyes like a gush of water left through a big dam, wetting her no- makeup face.
Truth is bitter. Someone, said these lines and in her case it was utterly
bitter.
Siddhant worried at first for her condition but keeping the truth all there inside himself, was itself building a mountain of chaos for him. So,letting away the feeling of fear, he thought it better to go with the flow.
Siddhant walked to her and sat down to her level, wiping the painful tears. He shaked her but her body was denying to answer him. He called her several times, while continuosly shaking through his hands.
A moment later, she agreed to gaze at him with her welled eyes. From where should she start? How can she speak to him?
"Avyakta... Listen..
Get up.."
A voice, just a mere whisper. In reply,She just stared at his face.
"How can you...l-live..with a murderer like me..??"
When he made her to get up, she held his hand and questioned him.
"Ho..w in..just..in..a fraction of seconds.. our...lives got...destroyed?"
"Avyakta... get up..
Sit here on bed.."
Siddhant again denied to answer her.
"Sid..Siddhant... you are again...running away...from things...my questions...
Why???? Why did they do this???"
She again broke down into tears and kept her head on their palms held by her. He patted her head and sat down in same position like her.
Silence prevailed in the whole room. Only the sound of the fan and their cries filled the darkness of the room.
"Maybe..
It's just our fate.."
Siddhant spoke, sitting infront of her.
"If that's the case then, I wish God should never give...this type of fate to anyone..."
Avyakta spoke looking up at him, with her glimmering tears.
"Medecines. Accident. Baby. Amnesia. A sudden jolt of problems in our lives.
Everything..
Everything...
went away..
What's left...with me..now?"
Avyakta sniffed leaving their hands.
"Siddhant.. just for once...say everything you told is all fake..all fake..jus..t..f..or once.."
Hiccuping, she bit her lips and Siddhant shaked his head in negative.
A sudden question hit her head and she looked beyond astonished at him.
"Siddhant..."
She spoke with a voice and a look that can kill anyone at that hour.
"That..man's people... accidented me?
But...
did they...touched...me..anyw..."
She trailed and stared at him.
"Sid..Siddhant..
You know when..I was in hospital... I-I saw a nightmare... that someone was...hovering over me...and...
I was...
Did they tried...to...ra.."
The word felt utter disgusting to speak even.
She paused and broke down in tears, again.
She didn't said further and kept her palm on mouth. She tried to stiffle her cry.
"Avyakta...listen..please..listen first...
After, hearing..some car horns they..left you there..itself..they didn't touched you...
Their motive was...just...to..kill..
You understand?
They confessed,themselves.."
He held her palms.
"It's not fair..It's not fair.."
She snatched her palms from his and spoke with a feary voice.
"You can't.. touch...a criminal's hand..like this...
With..these hands.. only..
I tried to...kill you..How can a wife be this...harsh on her husband?
My God!!"
She again behaved like a maniac.
"H-How..unfortunate..disgusting.. filthy... woman I am who..can't..even..protect.. her baby??"
Siddhant was scared if the truth trap her in a great trauma. He continuosly, ask her to listen to him, consoling her but she was in no mood. He immediately cupped her face, directly staring at her face and shouted.
"SHUT UP!! AVYAKTA!!
LISTEN!!"
Flinching at his words, she paused and stared at him. A surge of emotions emitting through his eyes, made her weak and she couldn't utter a single word. A sudden pull and she was embraced in a pair of hands. Her face, was deeply pushed against his chest and her nose touched the bare manly chest, through the two buttons of his shirt left undone. She didn't even try to wiggle in his arms because the comfort was the need of the moment.
Gradually, she shifted closer to him such that their knees were touching each other's. Her hand slid to his shirt and stopped midway, such that she held it tightly in her palms and it was at the verge of tearing off, if she would held it more tightly.
He shuddered at her touch on his bare chest. Keeping his chin on her head, he closed his eyes and made his hold through his hands wrapped on her, strongest. A feeling of warmth and comfort, intruded inside her.
"Cry Now..
As much as you want..No one's stopping you..."
Tears cascaded down on her hair, through his eyes. Fresh tears again made through her eyes, landing directly on his chest and soaking his shirt, hearing his words. He could feel the sensations and sentiments behind them. Her heart was broken and he was here to mend her. But little did he know that it was a hug to console his broken self too. An effort by her to console him.
Time passed but they never left from each other's embrace. She could hear his sobs and the tears landing on her shoulder and hair but she would snuggle more closer to him. A deep longing to embrace Avyakta, was fulfilled for him.
"Why..Why..didn't..you..let..let..me..killed?
Why..did..you..save..a killer like me?
God should...punish me..doing this injustice to you...and that baby..of."
She paused and hiccuped. She could feel the upward and downward motion of his chest. The raging breathing.
"Shh..shh..
Keep quiet. Keep quiet."
He whispered softly, patting her head, tirelessly. His eyes still close, undergoing a major emotion of contentment and equanimity.
Avyakta was distressed, pained and hurt to the core. Shocks occurred one by one. The baby, her relations, her life..everything.. everything.. was ruined..
She got aware of her actions when she realized that in heavy sentiments, which were uncontrollable, she was made to feel the magic of his touch. It was more than 15 mins, she was sitting with her eyes closed, her head still snuggled deep inside his chest through where she heard the heartbeats of Siddhant, her fists still clenched with the shirt.
Opening her eyes, she gradually loosen her hold on his shirt and he realized that she wanted to get out from his embrace. Loosening his hold on her,he made her to sit straight.
They were unable to meet their eyes. her tears incessantly fell down but she got control on them biting on her lips and gazing down.
Siddhant wiped his tears away and decided to get up. He was High on his emotions but he didn't regret for it,the hug because... he needed it,she needed it.
He got up with Avyakta. She walked upto the window and stared ahead with her thoughts occupied in her mind.
Why life is so mean to some people?
She had everything in life but something which was missing was...satisfaction,tranquility.
Why being so much simple towards life, it took a different turn, destroying it,utterly?
Why her and Siddhant?
What if she would never give those medecines, because, she was now drowned in the pool of guilt, forever.
Siddhant marched towards her, offering her a glass of water.
"Av-Avyakta..."
She looked at the glass and then him.
"Come..we need to go somewhere...now.."
"Where?"
She took the glass and kept it aside.
"I said na.. Come!!"
"No!!..will not go there Avyakta.. if you are thinking me to go.. please!!"
"But we need to..
COME!!
Please Siddhant.. only this time, listen to the plea of this stubborn woman..only this time..''
Siddhant didn't want to take her there but seeing her state,he agreed. She was too stubborn. Siddhant being a good husband agreed to her but he never wanted her to face them.
.
.
.
.
.
It was 11 in night. The moon was lost somewhere in the sky that night. The darkness enveloped the whole city. The roads still fresh with the moving cars.
Avyakta sat with her head that rest on the window, lost in her thoughts.
Siddhant was grief-stricken and still drove on the gloomy dark road.
Avyakta thought- Why didn't she killed him then and there, only? People might only say her the murderer of her enemy and the feeling of vengeance would be fulfilled.
But no!
The guilt and agony will only leave her shattered and tormented,inside-out. She left him because he was his now just a criminal who was a time ago was in search of many people and he would shortly be getting his punishment soon.
So what's the need to colour her hands from the blood that was of him. She was no one to cross the boarder of Laws. No one.
Avyakta and Siddhant were coming back from prison house. Siddhant repudiated her but still she wanted the persons who wanted to enjoy seeing her, this way and the reason Siddhant never wanted her to go there was― Why to surround and meet the accusers in a filthy surrounding?
She jinxed each one of them. She envied and shouted on each one of them.
The ride back to home was a complete silence except of Siddhant's phone that rang repeatedly, indicating that it was from his family who were tensed as to where did they go such late.
The car came to a halt and without uttering a word the couple came out.
Avyakta wiped her face, the tears now refused to even come out itself, eyes swollen. Showing a similar state of Siddhant. Both took glance of each other and then walked ahead.
The night was going to be long....
