After that awkward moment with Tony and Steve, I decided to get to know Clint's kids. Laura had to do dishes and clean up, so she asked me to watch their daughter and read to her. She's honestly the cutest, sweetest little girl I've ever met. Kayla is her name, she's 7 and can probably read better than me. So instead of me reading to her, I decided to make her read to me. Listening to her sweet little voice made me turn into jello. My mind was completely distracted by Kayla.

We had gotten through two picture books and were three chapters into a beginners novel. The ones with six chapters. I predicted that we would have it finished within the hour. However, I had to cut our reading short since I heard Tony and Steve arguing outside. They were cutting wood too. Not exactly the safest environment. I told Kayla to continue reading to herself and that I'd be back.

I pulled my hands into the arms of the sweatshirt Laura had given me, I assumed that it was originally Clint's since it was about three size too big for pregnant Laura, which meant it was about five sizes too big for me. I also had to pull up the jeans Laura had also let me borrow. I absolutely despise jeans. Give me leggings any day, but jeans. No way.

I peek my head out the door and spot Tony walking away from Steve. I guess he has other things to do.

Steve just stands there and continues chopping wood, at an alarmingly fast rate. I walk up to him and he stops chopping.

"I came out when I heard you and Tony shouting. Arguing and chopping wood isn't the safest combination" I say.

Steve smiles and lays down the axe, "No it's not" he laughs, "Everyone seems shaken after Wakanda"

I nod in agreement, "I'm more shaken by the climate change, man was it hot over there and now it's like poof cold!" I say making hand gestures for the 'poof'.

"Why do you do that?" he asks.

I raise an eyebrow, "Do what?" I ask.

"Make a joke when you try to avoid taking about something?" Steve says.

I bite my lip and avoid his gaze, "I don't know" I whisper.

Steve gives a sad smile, "What did you see?" he says.

"The day my stepfather died." I begin and Steve nods understandingly, "And the night my siblings were killed in a car crash the night of my high school graduation" I say.

That's when Steve looks up, shocked, "You never, you never told me that your siblings died" he says, taking a step closer to me.

"I guess it just slipped my mind" I joke. But my smile cracks and the tears coming rushing back.

Steve rushes over to me, pulls me into a tight hug and strokes my head. We just stand there for a while, with him soothing me. I feel him kiss the top of my head, but I'm too broken up to care or mind. This is the right time to show affection.

"I saw Peggy. I that dream. We were at a club, a band was playing, veterans were all over, laughing and dancing and she was there. She asked if I was ready to dance and we danced. But then everything was gone, the music, the people, the dancing, and Peg. Everything was gone. All I had was a distorted memory of dancing with the girl I loved." Steve whispers into my ear, still stroking my head.

"I'm sorry Steve, I know you miss her. But don't you think you should find someone else? What about that shield agent. Sharon?" I ask.

Steve just chuckled into my ear, "Not really interested in her" he says.

I smile into his shoulder and wipe my tears with his shirt and pull away.

"I'm sorry that I got your shirt wet" I say.

Steve glances at his shoulder and shrugs, "What are shirts for?" he says with a warm smile.

I laugh and shake my head.

That's when I spot the unmistakable face of Nick Fury walking along side with Tony. My guess is that Tony didn't know Fury was bunking in the Barton's barn house.

As the two pass by, Steve and I join them. I quickly dry my eyes and calm down as we enter the Barton establishment.
