Day 1: Part 2

The phone in the living room downstairs kept ringing continuously. Sasha wondered who it could be. She still didn't have the courage to go downstairs although the giggling was gone and the feeling of someone watching her had subsided.

Could it be Nancy? Or maybe a call from Lorraine? Sasha took a deep breath and got up. She took one step at a time and went to the living room and picked the phone.

"Hello?"

"Good afternoon, ma'am. I'm Constable Mr. Andrew Stafford, I am sorry to inform you that Miss. Nancy Dew has committed suicide a few hours ago. She jumped from her apartment window and had both of her wrists slit." said a tough male voice.

Sasha was wordless. She had been waiting for Nancy's reply to her texts. Why did she kill herself in such a gruesome way?

"Ma'am, are you there?" asked Mr. Stafford.

"Y-Yes..." Sasha stammered.

"We found out from her cell phone that the last person she texted were you. We would like you to come at the police station and have a talk."

"Okay, I'll be there in an hour." said Sasha.

"Thank you, ma'am." said Mr. Stafford.

Sasha placed the phone. Even though she had not been in touch with Nancy since a long time, she still felt that she had lost someone important to her.

She took her cell phone and checked the texts which she had sent to Nancy. They were still unseen. It probably means she did this to herself, right after texting Sasha.

Maybe, all Nancy wanted was someone to talk to her. Maybe, that was the reason she texted Sasha. Although it was a weird text, she must have sent it as she wasn't feeling comfortable to talk directly to her about whatever she was feeling or what she went through.

Sasha looked at the clock. There were still two hours for Lorraine to be back home. So she got dressed and left home. It was an half hour drive to the police station. All the time, while driving she kept thinking about why Nancy killed herself? What did the text meant?

She reached the police station. There was a tall, lean cop standing outside. She read the name on the badge on his uniform. It was Mr. Stafford.

"Good afternoon, sir. I'm Sasha Smith." she greeted.

"Good afternoon, ma'am. Go to the cabin on the right. Sir has been waiting for you to come."

She walked towards the cabin. A slightly plump man with moustache was sitting on a chair behind a wooden table.

"Please sit," he said.

"You must be, Miss. Sasha Smith. "

"Yes." said Sasha adjusting herself on the chair.

After an hour of conversation, Sasha and the officer were equally confused. There was no apparent reason why Nancy would have done this.

She reached home and was glad to see Lorraine waiting for her. At least, now she has someone for her company. She decided not to tell Lorraine whatever happened in morning. It would just scare her.

" Where had you been? " Lorraine asked while wrapping her hands around Sasha.

" Nancy committed suicide today morning, I went to the police station for a talk regarding it." said Sasha.

Lorraine wrapped her hands more tightly around her elder sister. She knew how much this must be affecting Sasha. Even though their friendship ended in a bad way, her sister still occasionally talked about reconciliation with Nancy.

"Why did she do it?" asked Lorraine.

"They are still trying to find out the reason." answered Sasha.

They had their lunch. It was a quiet one. Lorraine went to her room for a short nap while Sasha decided to wash the dishes.

While Sasha was busy washing the dishes, she heard someone whisper her name. She turned back swiftly. But there was no one. She thought she must be over thinking about Nancy as well as whatever happened today morning.

As she turned back to continue doing her work. She saw the words, " WE ARE HERE FOR YOU " written on the window glass with blood. The dish in her hand fell down crashing into pieces. She quickly ran to Lorraine's room.

She tried opening the door but it was locked from the other side. She knocked hard and screamed Lorraine to open it. Sasha could hear loud footsteps coming towards her but she could see nobody.
