Hiccup was finally allowed to play again. So of course, when he had his first training after the accident with his leg, his team were exited.

Snotty: thank the gods you're allowed to play again soon.

Hiccy: why?

Snotty: Eret.

Hiccy: he's that bad?

Snotty: he won't listen to anything! I don't know how to keep up with him. He's a total ass.

Hiccy: really? To be honest I thought Tuffnut would be your biggest problem while you took over as captain for me.

(I know nothing about basketball...)

Snotty: yeah, well I did too. Turns out the 'new guy' were actually 'the most irritating guy'.

Snotty: even Tuffnut doesn't like him!

Okay, time for me to explain what Eret's role in this is.
He isn't actually part of their team. But since Hiccup isn't allowed and can't play, they had to find someone to take over for him, at least until he got back. That person would be Eret.
And apparently he's a total ass. Snotlout's words, not mine.

Hiccy: I'm joining training today.

Snotty: finally!

Snotty: good luck with Eret.
