SCREW IT I'M DOING A POKéMON FANFIC!
FIGHT MEH!
------------------------------------------
A raven-haired boy sat quietly on the airplane looking out the window.
It was the middle of the night, and he was seated next to his mother and the thin airplane wall. Technically he should have been asleep, but for one, the plans seats weren't exactly the most comfortable seats ever. Two, the plane itself was pretty loud. And three, he was too excited to sleep. In a few hours he would be in a brand new region with brand new Pokémon, even if it was just for a few days. Six years was a long time to be a Pokémon trainer with his best friend that was currently dozing on his lap, and he was always hoping for a new adventure.
Suddenly there was a loud explosion that shook the flying vehicle, and all the dim lights lighting the cabin went out. The boy craned his neck at the window to see what happened. There was black smoke that was billowing out from underneath the wing, barely visible compared to the night sky behind it. The boy's mom stirred next to him.
"Mom, something happened," the boy whispered to the woman, and she blinked and gently shook the humanoid Pokémon on the far side of her.
"Pika...?" The small yellow rodent on the boy's lap yawned.
"Hey buddy, something's up." The boy explained, and the Pokémon rubbed his eyes and the bright red pouches on his cheeks sparked with electricity.
"Attention passengers, we are experiencing technical difficulties with the aircraft. Please stay in your seats until further notice." The pilot's voice came over the intercom, but of course some people started panicking anyways. The plane's cabin went deathly silent for a few minutes, before the entire plane suddenly tilted downwards, and you could feel it starting to spin. The boy's mom cried out in surprise, and people, Pokémon and objects started to float in the downward spiral.
"Mayday, mayday! Everybody brace yourselves!" The announcement came over the intercom, but now more than half the adults were screaming. "Ash!" The boy's mother called, since both of the were staring to float in the death spiral. The boy grabbed the seat in front of him and his Pikachu to keep them from floating away, and looped his arm through his backpack that was at his feet before reaching down and covering his head. The next moment time seemed to stop as the screaming continued and the airplane plunged into darkness.
You know how there are those times that when there is a lot of commotion going on, you barely seem to think and just react? That was what happened with the boy. He didn't really see anything or think any real thoughts, or have his life flash before his eyes. He just hugged his best friend as the plane plummeted to the depths below, but was suddenly taken out of that thoughtless state when a freezing, wet sensation suddenly enveloped him.
His eyes shot open and he saw that the impact must have busted a hole through the plane's body, allowing water to rush in. His eyes stung like crazy from the salt water, but kept them open so he could actually see. He let go of his Pikachu, and seeing that he was okay, pointed to the hole that had let the water in. The plane itself had quickly filled up with water, making it more urgent to get to the surface for air. Someone had also opened the evacuation doors that led out to the wings, which was either a good escape route or a horrible idea. The boy swam through the large hole, and used to water to propel himself to the surface.
He then realized he hadn't grabbed a life jacket for him or Pikachu, and mentally cursed himself for it.
We've survived worse. He commented, and suddenly burst the surface.
He gasped for the air he didn't quite realize he was lacking, and looked around. It was pitch black around him in both the water and sky, and cold enough that if he didn't get out of the water he was eventually going to get sick.
"Pika! Pi pika pi!" His Pikachu suddenly burst out of the water a few feet away.
"Pikachu!" The boy cried and quickly swam over to the little electric Pokémon. "Thank Arceus nothing bad happened to you." He said quietly, picking the little rodent out of the water and placing him on his shoulder. The water itself was quiet, there was nothing obvious that should have caused the plane to crash. But there was also no lifeboats to be seen, meaning either they had gotten to the surface late or they were the only survivors. The duo sat floating on the surface of the water, suddenly exhausted.
"Pikachu, we need to get to land. I can't exactly go swimming like this forever." The boy suggested, his hair flopped down with water and his hat lost to the sea. "Chu," Pikachu agreed, both of them knowing it was going to be an effort.
Maybe the aura can help me. The boy suddenly came up with an idea. He closed his eyes and let his mind clear, attempting to sense a force most people can't. A faint sensation appeared in his mind, suggesting in a certain direction for him to go. The boy turned and looked, but it was still pitch black in every direction.
"Pi. Pikachu!" The little yellow rodent encouraged, though his trainer could never know what he said. He sighed, and then floated onto his stomach and placed his Pikachu and normally light but soaking backpack onto his back, and then started swimming as best he could into the unknown.
"Breaking news; a plane heading to the Alola region mysteriously crashed for unknown reasons into the ocean last night. There were many survivors of the crash, but there are also many people still missing." The television reported explained in the iconic, informative, monotone voice.
A teenage girl looked up from her thoughts to see a picture of a huge piece of metal and material floating in the ocean, with some other debris around it.
A plane crash? This isn't something that happens often. The girl thought, mildly interested and worried. She had short honey-blonde hair and ocean blue eyes, and a few pokéballs at her belt.
"Serena, hear about that plane crash?" Another girl walked in. She was a brunette with a bandana on, and ponytail-like hair on either side. "Duh, it's on the news." The honey-blonde girl replied. The picture on the TV changed to a video probably from a helicopter of a large amount of people filling two different bright orange inflatable rafts.
"One of such missing people is a well-noted trainer named Ash Ketchum and his Pokémon on the flight, Pikachu." Both the girls froze at this.
"ASH?!" They shrieked, horrified.
They had both known Ash Ketchum quite well, and even had the honor of traveling with him as their close friend.
"Nonononono," the honey-blonde whispered, not believing it. The brunette pounded her fist against the table they were at.
"What's going on?" A younger boy with glasses and a small, green, lizard-like Pokémon on his shoulder. The honey-blonde pointed to the TV, where it had changed to several pictures of a raven-haired boy in various places and intense battles. In almost all of them there was also a small yellow mouse Pokémon on his shoulder or next to him on the battlefield. There was a news headline that read "Mysterious Plane Crash" and the younger trainer gasped. "Ash!" He questioned, horrified. The trainer on the TV was the boy's idol and inspiration. The blonde nodded glumly, suddenly glued to the news report.
"I don't believe it. I'm gonna go call Brock and prove this is just some misunderstanding." The brunette decided firmly. "Good idea May." The younger trainer agreed hopefully. The blonde didn't know who Brock was, other than a close previous traveling companion of her new friends and the boy in the news.
The pictures on the screen changed to a video of a sobbing woman with a Mr. Mime trying to comfort her. They both had blankets around them, and the woman was holding a soaked red and white Pokéball-design hat. May and her younger brother came back about ten minutes later, one of their faces shocked and the other solemn.
"It's true, that was Ash's plane." The brunette confirmed. The honey-blonde started to tear up, but wiped them away quickly. The Treecko on the boy's shoulder patted his trainer quietly, seeing he was in some kind of pain. May left to go call the other friends of Ash she knew to tell them the news, and the ocean-eyed honey-blonde girl knew she would have to call her friends in Kalos as well.
Ash, please, wherever you are, please don't be dead. Come back soon. Please...
