Mark sat in his backyard, his feet swaying in the water of the pool. He had sunglasses on, with swimming shorts loosely hanging around his waist.

He couldn't get Jack out of mind. He couldn't do anything without thinking of him. He couldn't even have sex with his girlfriend of six months without thoughts of Jack invading his mind.

Mark felt so bad, letting an old relationship keep him from enjoying his new one.

Matt walked through the back door, sitting beside Mark. "What're you thinking about?" He asked, glancing over at the red head.

"Honestly?" Mark asked and Matt nodded. He heard Mark sigh before answering. "Jack." Matt looked up at him, giving him a confused stare.

Mark sighed again, looking down into the water. "Why?" Matt asked, playing with his own fingers. "Do you miss him?"

"So much." Mark whispered, hiding the tear that fell. "Everything about him."

"What about Amy?"

"I want to love her. I really, really do. But I can't, I love Jack still." Matt looked over, noticing Mark's mouth opening to talk and then closing. "I miss his blue eyes that I can get lost in, and the way his green hair brings them out. I miss how his hand would run through his hair when he was nervous, or the way he would run his hand through mine when I was upset. I don't know, it's silly."

Matt chuckled. "Can I tell you a little secret?" Mark nodded, looking over at his friend. "Ryan cheated on me when we were together for six months. We stayed apart for about a month before we realized that we couldn't be happy without the other."

"It's hard to stop loving someone just because they make a mistake." Matt pat Mark's shoulder before saying. "Jack is miserable without you, and I know you're pretending to be happy." Matt stood up, brushing his shorts off. "Go find your happiness. It's not going to come to you without any work."

Mark thought about it for a minute before grabbing his phone and typing a quick text to Amy.

We need to talk.
