First of all I like to clear that all the credit of Veil of mist goes to melantha123. This was her story plot not mine. I asked permission from her to make a one shot and she gave me permission. "Aaah!!" Merida screamed ,waking up. She was heavily panting. She looked around ,her eyes blinded by darkness.

She felt for the picture of her brother on her bed. "Hubert...I..am..sorry" she said hugging her brother's picture. Tears started escaping her eyes. "I should...have protected.you..I should have been the one killed... not..you" she said sobbing harder.

A knock was heard. "Merida dear you okay" her mother's tired voice asked from behind the door.

Merida immediately wiped her tears and tried to manage a sleepy voice, "Yes mum...I am *yawn*fine" she faked.

"Oh ok dear, if there is any problem just call me" her mother said and footsteps could be heard of her leaving.

Merida knew what her mother was going through. She didn't want to cause any more trouble.

"Be brave Merida, no one should see your tears. Never show your weakness to anyone" she told herself and fell back on her bed.

The next morning

"Merida are you sure you wanna go?" Her father asked.

Merida just nodded bravely. It had been a year since she met her friends and since the whole incident.

"Very well"was all he said before continuing his breakfast.

In Hogwarts

"Elsa!!" She shouted running,. The figure stopped hearing the fimilair voice." Mer!!"was all Elsa said before opening her arms wide.Merida embraced Elsa and started crying.

"I missed ya" Merida said hugging her.

"Me too"Elsa said rubbing her back.

"How are the twins?" Merida asked.

"You know how much a fuss they can be"Elsa replied laughing lightly.

"Yeah I know Hamish, Harris and Hub-" she stopped in midsentence and started walking forward avoiding Elsa.

Elsa was gonna go after her until Repunzal called her from behind. "Hi Els, its me Punzie!!!" Repunzal shouted waving both of her arms inthe air.

"Punz !!" Elsa shouted happily and ran to hug her friend.

"Well they seem to cope quite well"Merida muttered to herself and fixed her scarf better.

She started to rub her hands together. "Whew! Its cold" she whispered.

"Let me warm them up for you" a voice said from behind her and a pair of bigger hands covered hers. She felt heat rise in her cheeks.

"Hiccup" she whispered. "Nice to meet you too Merida" he said coming infront of her. His green eyes sparkling.

Hiccup a voice called from behind them and he immediately let go of her hands. The warm feeling immediately disappeared like it came.

"Astrid! " he cheered running towards her.

Merida just ignored them and continued walking. 'Maybe the reunion really was a bad idea' she thought. The dead leaves crunched beneath her feet.

She turned around to see her friends laughing and talking behind her.

"Let me just visit Hubert's death place and then later joined them"Merida decided speed walking towards the forbidden forest.

"I am worried about Merida"Repunzal exclaimed and Eugene patted her shoulder as to comfort.

"Me too" was all Elsa replied. She missed Jack terribly but she had already cried her eyes out for him. Merida onthe other hand hardly cried infront of others.

"Let me talk to her"Hiccup said leaving Astrid's hand and running after Merida.

Astrid just groaned frustrated." Sometimes I wonder who's boyfriend he is? Mine or Merida's" she said aloud.

"Astrid he's just trying to be a good friend" Elsa said sensing her jealousy.

"Excuse me but I need to keep a eye on them"Astrid said running after them.

"She is super jealous"Flynn commented and the other girls started laughing.

"Yeah but she needs to give Hiccup some space or else their relationship isn't gonna work long"Repunzal the love expert commented and Elsa nodded.

"Wanna watch it?" Flynn asked and the two nodded .

With Merida

"Hubert i am sorry, this is all my fault. I should have protected you like I promised mum and dad-"

"And i should have been the one dead not you"Hiccup finished the sentence.

Merida jumped by hearing Hiccup's voice.
"Hiccup you scared me" she said facing him and wiping her tears.

"And your scaring us with your depressed attitude. Its like your gonna commit suicide any day. We already lost one friend and cant afford to lose another" he said with a sad expression.

"What are you talking about, I am fine"she said wiping the rest of the tears but Hiccup stopped her by taking a hold of her hand.

"Don't hide your tears, let them flow free until they aren't any left" he said wiping the stray tears from her face.

"Cry till your hearts content" he said opening his hands for a hug. Merida jumped in them and started sobbing hard.

She wasn't afraid to show her tears to Hiccup. She felt like she could share her every fear with him.

A girl with light blonde hair was watching them for a distance. "Thats it they crossed the 'only friends' limit" she whispered angrily and stood up.

"Aww, don't they look cute together" Repunzal cooed and Elsa nodded in agreement

Who knew a furious Merida could only be handled by a easy going calm Hiccup.

"Uh guys sorry to ruin your fangirling moment but we have a problem"Flynn said tapping Repunzal's shoulder.

"What?!!" Repunzal asked annoyed.
"Astrid" was all he said and Repunzal's abd Elsa's eyes widened.

"Stop her!!" Repunzal shouted and Flynn said running after Astrid followed by Punz and Elsa.

Flynn quickly grabbed Astrid's waist and covered her mouth with the other hand.

"Ow" he groaned when Astrid punched his stomach. "Leave me" she ordered.

"Sorry I only listen to Blondie"he replied.

"Love you too"Repunzal said giggling.

"Astrid don't ruin the moment"Elsa said.

"Moment?!! Thats my boyfriend out there with my friend. How would you feel if Jack did that" she asked angrily still kicking and punching Flynn.

"Hiccup and Merida are damn lucky to have a friend like me. Ow"Flynn said rubbing his shin.

Elsa was now silent her face was emotionless. "Let her go" elsa mumbled. "What are you serious" Repunzal asked in disbelief.

"She is right. We have no right to interfere"Elsa replied staring at the ground.

"Flynn let her go"Repunzal said and Flynn released Astrid.

"Finally, and after I am done dealing with Merida. Your dead" she warned and ran towards the pair.

"Thanks Hiccup your the best." Merida said feeling alot better and letting go of his grip.

"Anytime Mer, anytime" he said moving her curly hair out of her eyes.

They were staring deeply in eachother's eyes until a voice wake them up from their daydream.

"Hiccup!!"Astrid shouted her face turning red.

"We're here" he shouted back, stepping away from Merida.

"Come on lets go to your cabin" she said tugging his arm.

"Yeah lets go, Mer? "He asked with a hint of worry in his eyes.

"I will be joining you, just give me few minutes with my brother" she said smiling and they left.

"Another problem, I need to solve" she muttered
