"You guys are such a cute couple, newly weds huh?" Repunzal said and the Merida and Hiccup blushed.

"Well actually we got married last September" Hiccup said running his through his hair and shyly glancing at Merida.

"So what brings you two to the country side?" Flynn asked.

"Well my wife here, grew up in a country house in Scotland. That's where I first time met her as a kid. We played alot together" Hiccup said putting his arm around Merida's.

"So he means that a country house brings back lot of good memories and so we decided to let good memories continue" Merida finnished.

"Aww what cute story, now your gonna make cry. Ooh let me show you around!!" She said grabbing Merida's hand and dragging her inside.

"Wow what a beautiful house" Merida gasped.

"I know right, its a pity I never got to live in it" Repunzal said with a sad expression.

"Why?" Merida asked.

"I dont know, this house was just passed to one generation to another like a heirloom, no one really lived here. I guess my family was more of a city type. Now me and Flynn are moving to Germany. We need money so we decided to sell it"

"Well you can visit this house when ever you want to" Merida offered and Repunzal hugged her.

"Thanks your the best" she giggled.

4 months later

"Well that's the last of it" Hiccup said putting the China inthe cupboards.

"Well finally we're done" Merida said falling onthe couch while Hiccup made coffee for both of them.

I will rise I will fly

Merida's phone rang.

"Hello?" She answered.

There was silence onthe other end.

"Hello?" Merida asked again and still the other end was quite.

"Leave..." someone whispered

"Huh?" Merida asked confused.

"I said...leave.. the..house" the person hissed and then someone started to laugh like crazy at the other end.

"Anna" Merida said laughing as well now.

"I scared you didn't I" Anna said at the other end and Merida smirked.

"No way you just alarmed me a little" she said and Anna frowned a little.

"Ok so how's the house, I wanna see the pictures" she said and Merida laughed.

"Well, we finnished unpacking today and I am too exhausted to take pictures of a three floor house which has 4 rooms at each floor and oh I forget the attic and the basement"

"Wow its like you have your own castle" Anna said.

"Yeah but its gets really lonely sometimes with just the two of us here, plus Hiccup's holidays finnish today and tommorow is back to work and me alone in this house"

"Where's Toothless? " Anna asked.

"Toothless is with Valka, he needed some vaccinations to be done but he will be back by tommorow" Merida said.

"Ok bye Mer gotta go now"

"Bye Anna" Merida said and hung up the phone.

She was about to open the tv, when suddenly from the shadows she spotted a hooded black figure. She blinked twice and the shadow was gone but something else caught her eye inthe corner.

It was a necklace, when she opened the pendant. It had a picture of a young woman with thick black curly hair. "That's weird this wasn't here before" she muttered looking at the necklace.

The picture inside had turned yellowish and looked pretty old, judging the women's clothes and hairstyle.

Hiccup blinked twice, he swear he saw someone inthe garden from the kitchen window. "Maybe the trick of the light" he thought shaking his head and grabbing the two coffee mugs.

"Hey dear what are you doing inthe corner?" Hiccup said putting down the coffee mugs onthe table and walking towards Merida. ( I am the only one who fangirl hard when he says dear to Merida)

"Nothing I was just thinking" Merida replied putting the necklace in her jeans pocket while walking back to sofa.

"Okay, so what are you gonna do tommorow, when I am gone?" Hiccup said making himself a moustache from Merida's hair while they watched tv

"I don't know, I am not cleaning the second and third floor alone believe me. I think I will explore the outdoors a little and even set my targets" she replied and Hiccup smiled.

"Well mom's gonna come over and help you with the cleaning cause I am gonna be a bit busy these days and may even come home a little late because alot of work has piled up" he explained and Merida frowned.

"Good thing Valka is coming over to stay, I dont really like the idea of spending time alone in this place" Merida shuddered thinking about the shadow.

Next morning.

She waved to Hiccup as he got in their car and left leaving Merida alone.

"Well let me call Anna" she thought going inside and grabbing her cellphone.

This is Anna, sorry a little busy right now. Leave a message

Merida shrugged and decided to explore the attic.

She carefully climbed the stair case and opened a torch. Since there were no windows up here plus no lighting system.

"Wow" she gasped at the stuff scattered everywhere.

She walked deeper, moving her torch left and right. She paused seeing a painting of the same women.

This picture showed a more older version of the women, maybe in her mid thirties.

The women was smirking which Merida didn't know why but in her opinion made her look creepy.

The woman was wearing dark make up with red lipstick and was wearing a silk maroon dress. She was standing partly tilted which showed her dress was backless.

"She reminds me of Ursula from the little mermaid" Merida chuckled.

Staring at the picture, suddenly the woman winked. The women inthe picture actually winked!!

Merida blinked.

Bang!!

The door shut close behind her and Merida started breathing heavily. She ran towards the door falling multiple times onthe way from the stuff. She even got her knee cut from peices of glass onthe floor.

Then it dawned on Merida, the door can only be open from outside.

"Help!!" She shouted even though no one was inthe house accept for her.

Tears of pain and fear were now falling down her face as she helplessly banged the door.

Her torch broke when she fell down. She was sitting in a complete darkness.

Merida tried to remove the things from around her to sit more comfortably.

From across the room she spotted the painting staring at her with her cold green eyes and grin that made Merida shiver.

"Merida!! Are you in there!!" A voice shouted making Merida wake up( she had somehow fallen asleep).

"Hic I am here!!" Merida shouted back and moved away from the door. So he could open it.

"Thank god" was all she heard till the door burst open.

Revealing a heavily panting Hiccup, his hair was a mess. His face was red from worry. He finally smiled when his eyes found Merida sitting inthe corner holding her left leg.

"Mer,!!" He shouted in relief as he went to her.

He kneel next to her and Merida hugged him tightly.

"Mer you scared the hell out of me, what are you here" he asked.

"Lets say, we never use the attic again" Merida joked.

"What time is it?" Merida asked holding her left leg.

"2:30 pm" he answered inspecting her knee.

"What are you doing here so early?"

"Well I was calling you but you weren't picking up, at first I thought your phone is dead as usual but then mom called me saying that she can't find you. That's when I started panicking" Hiccup chuckled.

"Well lets get your wound cleaned up and then lets hear your side of the story because judging from your wound I am not going back to work any time soon" Hiccup said picking Merida up bridal style as they slowly went down the stairs( which I guarantee isn't easy, believe me).

"So dear how did you end up with this" Hiccup said sipping his coffee while Valka wrapped a bandage around Merida's leg.

"Well.." Merida told everything including the picture winking at her.

"I think your reading too many horror stories" Hiccup concluded going inside the kitchen.

"But-" Merida protested

"Don't worry Merida, I believe you but I must say you shouldn't let this get in your head" Valka said putting her hand on Merida's shoulder and Merida nodded.

"Come on bud, Mer missed you" they heard Hiccup talking to Toothless inthe kitchen.

"Hey Toothless" Merida greeted as Toothless came running towards her and started licking her.

"I missed you too bud" she said hugging him.

Toothless barked happily and then put his head on Merida's lap.

"Well now the family is complete" Hiccup said sitting next to Merida.

"Hiccup you know tommorow is 5 April" Valka said and Hiccup's eyes widened.

"Dad's death anniversary" Hiccup said and Valka nodded.

"Yes and we have to go to the other town to meet his grave" Valka reminded and Hiccup shook his head.

"Mom i am sorry but I cant come this time, We can't just leave the house like this and Merida's leg is hurt, she can't walk properly. I can't leave her like this"

"No but you have to go. Your dad soul is gonna be waiting for you. Go I will be fine promise" Merida protested and Hiccup gave her a unsure look.

"You sure, I mean the last time. I left you alone inthe house you ended up locked inthe attic" he joked ruffling her hair making her frown.

"I am not a toddler, I can take care of myself. I promise I will try my best to not end up in a wheel chair by the time your back" Merida said pouting.

"Ok well then its decided" Valka said standing up.

"Better pack a pair of clothes Hiccup, we will be there over night" she said leaving the room

Merida shuddered thinking to stay alone in this big creepy house but atleast toothless will be with her this time.

"You sure, Mer?" Hiccup asked with a hint of worry.

"Hic I will be fine promise, besides Toothless will be with me" Merida reassured and he kissed her forehead.

Before leaving to pack.

That night

"Oh no what's that" the girl said pointing to the white shadow coming towards them.

"Aaah" the girl screamed

"Ok that's enough tv for tonight" Merida said closing the tv at the ghost scene.

And Toothless barked in agreement.

"Goodnight Toothless" Merida yawned pulling the covers on her head as she fell asleep onthe sofa and Toothless onthe rug.

12 am

Merida tossed and turned in her asleep. She kept having nightmares about the same woman.

"Stay away" she shrieked at her

"Stay away from who, where?" Merida asked confused in her dream.

"From Him!!" The witch said and raised a knife at Merida.

Merida jolt up, sweating profusely as she looked around inthe darkness searching for light.

Heavy raining could be heard from outside. Merida shivered and pulled the blanket closer to her.

"Toothless? " she whispered looking around to see the fimilair figure of the dog gone.

"Toothless!" Merida shouted worried.

"Bow!!" She heard Toothless bark from upstairs.

"Toothless come down bud!!" Merida shouted not daring to go back.

Toothless just barked back, Merida waited a little for him to come down but when he didn't. Merida gathered the courage and went upstairs.

"Bud where are you?" She said climbing the stairs.

She heard another reassuring bark and she relaxed.

Toothless was in their room, Merida started went inside the room. To see Toothless standing at the corner of the room barking wildly as if trying to warn her.

"Hello dear" a cold voice said from behind said making Merida shiver

She turned around to come face to face with the same woman she had been constantly seeing.

The woman grinned at Merida's terrified expression.

"You..your..not...real ...I must be dreaming" Merida stuttered pointing at the women.

"You know that's the same thing, that girl use to say to me. You might know her blonde hair, blue eyes name starts with letter A" the women said pretending to think hard.

"You..mean..Astrid" Merida asked in disbelief.

"Ahh yes, the boy's past girlfriend. My little boy is growing up so fast. He's even now married" the women said proudly.

"But I don't like my little boy growing up" The women hissed clenching her fist and glaring at Merida.

"I don't like him sharing his love with other poeple" she said lifting Toothless from the ground and making him crash the wall

"Toothless!!" Merida shouted going towarda him but the women caught her arm.

"And I dont certainly like him having a family" she said twisting Merida's arm and making her scream in pain as the woman's long sharp nails digged in her skin.

The pain was too much and before Merida knew everything turned black.

Merida opened her eyes and immediately shut them again. The sun rays were hit her pupils and she squinted while standing up from the door.

Last night was still very clear in her mind, she looked around to see Toothless still lying near the wall. She relaxed seeing his body move up and down from breathing.

She dusted her clothes and observed her right hand.

There were finger nail marks on her right hand.

"Toothless bud wake up" she said shaking the dog.

Toothless gave a low bark and opened his eyes.

"Bud its gonna be alright" she said stroking his head while he rested his head on her lap.

"We need to go to Astrid's house, prepare to meet Stromfly again" she said picking up Toothless.

Astrid's house

"Hiccup this is Merida, I will be out of the house for sometime so dont get worried" she left the message as she rang the doorbell of Astrid's house.

"Hello, Meredith" Astrid's mother asked surprised as she opened the door.

"I hope you aren't busy Mrs Hofferson. I mean I can come another time"Merida said ignoring her being called by the wrong name.

"Well you look more grown up since the last time I saw you inthe funeral" Amelia said tucking a strand of grey hair behind her ear

"Yes its been a long time, 5 or 6 years" Merida added trying to keep up the conversation.

They heard happy barks from outside, Stromfly and Toothless were having a great time.

"What brings you here?" Amelia inquired and Merida's grip on her coffee cup tightened.

"Well this must be hard for you but I need some answers considering Astrid's suicide" Merida said looking down.

There was long pause till Amelia spoke "Astrid was living the life of a average 17 year old, after her father left us. She fell in a deep depression but thankfully Hiccup was there to save her" Amelia paused waiting for Merida to comment something.

"Your right, I remember the advices I use to give to him to make Astrid feel better" Merida said
which was totally true , Merida use to help Hiccup during the time he was dating Astrid. They didn't even like eachother inthat way back then. They were just bestfriends, after Astrid's death they became a couple.

"Yes I know you played a very prominent role in their relationship. I am forever grateful of both of you" Amelia said and Merida shook her head.

"No need to be thankful, Hiccup really loved her. I remember all the planning I use to do for their dates and how he kept me all night up and we made new strategies on how to impress her" Merida laughed

( Again: Merida didn't like Hiccup at that time. They were just bestfriends. Merida used to date Peter Pan. They devolped romantic feelings after Astrid's death when Hiccup fell into depression. And Merida lived in Scotland all that time. Merida and Hiccup stayed in contact with Skype etc. She just came to America during Astrid's funeral and after being married ofcourse)

"Well Astrid was having the time of her life and I was happy to see my little girl bloom with happiness but then strange things started happening" Amelia whispered and her face darkened.

"What kind of strange things?" Merida questioned raising an eyebrow.

"Well it started with her shouting inthe night, she was screaming something like ghost, witch etc. When ever I went to her bedroom I saw her shouting to nothing. Slowly slowly her attitude started becoming aggressive. She use to shout at me but mostly at Hiccup. The weirdest thing is that she use to freak out seeing poeple with black hair. She was going crazy, she stopped going to school and stopped meeting her friends, she stayed locked up in her room. I knew in my heart that her end had finally come but I just didn't want to believe it. Inthe end at April 24 she finally killed herself. I can never forget the scene, her slit wrist and life less eyes, not to mention the pool of blood around her...."

"I know I was there" Merida whispered as tears escaped her eyes. "I was the one trying to hold you back while Hiccup carried her lifeless to the hospital" she mumbled.

"Merida I want you to have something" Amelia said standing up and disappearing upstairs.

"I am not stupid, I know you have an idea what happened to Astrid. I know you need more answers to know what happened to her. This is her diary, I myself didn't have the courage to read this but I hope you get the answers your looking for" Amelia said handing her diary and Merida mouthed a thank you before keeping this dairy in her bag.

"Thank you Mrs Hofferson" Merida said taking her coat and shaking her hand.

"No problem but I wish you would visit more often, you know your the first visitor in 3 months" Amelia said sadly. Surprisingly Merida hugged her.

"I will try my best Amelia" she said and Amelia smiled.

"Your such a nice girl, I am glad Hiccup got you after Astrid" Amelia said and Merida's eyes widened. Amelia didn't know what happened to Hiccup after Astrid's death and Merida didn't tell her either.

"No need to be surprised your wedding ring tells everything" Amelia said gesturing to Merida's plain sliver band which had a emerald and ruby in between in form of a heart and craving Hiccup onthe sides.

I dont know about you guys but I love this ring. I mean I found this image after I wrote the paragraph and I was like wow this is beautiful. Ofcourse green represents Hiccup and red Merida. Together these stones complete a heart. *dies of feels*

Another thing I want to explain is that at the time of Astrid's suicide. Merida had come to America to plan the proposal so Hiccup was at the airport picking Merida. And when they were coming back, Amelia called him. That's why Merida was present at Astrid's house at that time of her death.

Back at the house

Merida and Toothless were sitting at the front porch of house. Merida had decided that it was better to be out of the house while she was still alone.

Toothless barked happily as it brought the stick back to Merida.

"Your the best dog ever Toothless" Merida said patting his head while he wagged his tail.

Toothless's ears pricked as he heard the fimiliar sound of Hiccup's car.

He immediately ran towards the big gate while Merida slowly followed behind.

"Hey easy there bud" Hiccup said as Toothless jumped on him.

"Hello malady, sorry no hugs right now, gotta take a shower" Hiccup said gesturing to his dirty shirt and black face.

"Oh ok" Merida giggled seeing his appearance.

Hiccup went inside while Toothless now ran up to meet Valka.

"Hello Merida, how are you?" Valka asked taking some stuff out of the van.

"Terrified"

The Kitchen 20 minutes later

"I am sorry, I should have told you but I thought you would think I am crazy. Everyone thought I was going crazy even Stoick" Valka whispered sadly looking down.

"Valka you need to tell me please, I understand you. Astrid understood you" Merida said putting her hand on Valka's shoulder

Valka gave a unsure glance but after seeing Merida's determined expression, she sighed

"It started when we moved into a new house when Hiccup was four. Stoick was inthe army so he hardly visited us. I didn't want Hiccup to feel lonely so I took him to all the father son activities so he wouldn't miss the feeling of having a father. I loved taking pictures so I took a picture of Hiccup in each of our weekend activity. After the pictures got devolped I noticed that there was woman with black curly hair with devious smirk. At first I though it was merely a coincidence but I noticed then that woman in each photograph was coming closer and closer to Hiccup...." Valka started breathing heavily.

Merida quickly stood up and got her a glass of water. Valka took one sip and then continued.

" I immediately called Hiccup and with shaking hands took a picture of him. The woman was standing there right behind him" Valka said and started trembling.

"Shhh Valka, it's ok" Merida said trying to comfort her but she was pretty terrified herself.

"Merida!!" They heard Hiccup shout.

"Oh he probably cant find this shoes again" Merida explained before going out of the kitchen.

Merida groaned inside only two poeple could have helped her but one is scared to death and the other is literally dead.

What will she do now?

Three days later

"Merida are you ok?" Hiccup asked worried.

"Yeah I am fine, just a little tired" Merida yawned.

"Mer, you know your scaring me" Hiccup said taking her hand.

"Why?" She asked curiously.

"Your having constantly nightmares, your screaming in your sleep alot. Yesterday I saw you shouting at the wall. You're starting to act like As..t.." Hiccup said unable to say her name.

He suddenly engulfed her into a bear hug," I am scared Mer, that I will lose you too. Please tell me what's going on" Hiccup said gripping her so tightly that Merida could hardly breathe.

"Hic, can't breath" Merida manage to say.

"Ok so tell me what's the matter why are you acting so strange" Hiccup said staring deep into Merida's ocean blue eyes and holding her shoulders tightly.

"I uhh" Merida tried to lie but she got lost in his forest green eyes and Hiccup's grip tightened on her shoulders as he started to get impatient for the answer.

"Allow me to explain, my name is Elsa Frost"

They both turned around to see a women in her early fifties standing in front of them. ( Elsa and Jack are older then them)

Hiccup let go of Merida's shoulders and blushed red in embarrassment at the scene they created.

Merida lost her balance onthe sudden lose of grip and almost fell on top of Hiccup but he caught her on time by her elbows. They both stayed inthe same position staring at the sudden guest which arrived.

"Cute couple" Elsa stated smirking while inspecting her fingernails.

I think it's a pretty awkward moment for merricup, I mean think about it. Talking seriously to your husband/wife/sister/ friend and then suddenly a stranger comes out of nowhere.

"How can we help you?" Merida asked finally getting of Hiccup's arms.

"Actually I am here to help you, Nice to meet you again Hiccup" Elsa said smiling.

"Um should I know you" Hiccup asked confused.

"No you really shouldn't, we erased your memories for a reason" Elsa explained.

"But I think its time to bring back the past" Valka said appearing from behind with a man with brown hair and brown eyes standing beside her

"This is Jackson Overland Frost," Valka introduced and the man named Jack shook hands with Hiccup.

"You have grown up and who's this lovely lady with you" Jack asked.

"Oh this is my wife, Merida" Hiccup introduced and Merida also shook her hands with Jack.

"Well Puberty hit you well" Jack joked and Hiccup laughed. "Yeah that's what they all say" he replied.

"Ok now lets get back to business" Elsa said with a stern expression and Valka nodded.

"You see Hiccup, when we first you were only four " Elsa started.

"And we were just colleagues" Jack added and Elsa shot him a glare.

"Your mother got terrified after seeing these types of pictures." Elsa said handing Hiccup a picture.

"We ourselves had never experienced such a case and technology wasn't that advanced at that time so we couldn't really contact other poeple too much at that time" Elsa explained and Hiccup nodded unsurely at where this was going.

"But after consulting our professor and our seniors and doing research. We found out that a spirit got attached to you while you were on one of your outings" Elsa said looking down.

Merida gripped Hiccup's hand as he tried to intake all this.

"Spirits can't normally attach to someone like that, we researched more and found out the spirit which got attached to you is actually a demon. She was accused for witch craft and numerous murders" Jack said with a serious expression.

"But why are you telling me all this!! Wait...it has something to do with Merida's odd behavior. Right?" He said putting things together.

"And your past girlfriend Astrid as well, we thought that we had got rid of it but we were wrong. We were very very wrong" Elsa said shaking her head.

"The spirit was smarter than we thought, it stopped showing itself inthe pictures and stayed away from the ghost detector but she didn't stop keeping an eye on you. She watched you grow and even followed you to Scotland, that we had suggested. (Jelsa is the reason Merricup happened). In our opinion she is very possessive and doesn't like to share you with anybody. That's the reason she managed to make Astrid crazy which resulted in her suicide" Jack paused.

Hiccup was breathing heavily. He glanced at Valka and then at Merida who reached out to hug him but he immediately pulled back.

" Please stay away from me Mer, I am the reason Astrid died. I don't want you to die as well. Please stay away from me" he said standing up and going out of the room.

Merida looked liked she was about to cry, Elsa gave her a sympathetic smile.

"Dear dont worry he just a little frustrated, he will soon fine" Elsa reassured.

"Merida we are surprised that the woman only just started disturbing you this month even though Valka told me that you and Hiccup dated for two years and then got married last year."

"By our calculations, you should be dead for two years now" Jack calculated and Elsa punched him.

"He means that Astrid was killed one year after they started dating. You two are together for three years now why hasn't she tried to scare you before" Elsa questioned.

"In my opinion the witch got attached to Merida as well when Hiccup was in Scotland. They were just 4 year olds back then so the witch didn't feel threatened by Merida at that time. Instead she started to care for Merida as well but the question still remains why after three years she's scaring her?. What has happened now?" Jack said shaking his head.

"That can be thought of later but right now, how we can get rid of her" Valka said interuppting them.

"Simple, exorcism" Jack smirked.

"Jack nothing is simple about exorcism, its the most complicated way to get rid of a spirit" Elsa reminded.

"Dont forget its also the most effective way plus I got the permission form the priest but the priest said you have to perform it" Jack said and Elsa groaned.

"I don't think. I can do it" Elsa said looking worried.

"Elsa you have to, lives are at stake" Jack said.

"Wait!! What happens if the exorcism goes wrong" Merida questioned.

"The person, I mean you die" Elsa whispered.

"Not happening!!" Hiccup's voice shouted behind them.

They turned around to see Hiccup standing onthe kitchen entrance with a stormy look on his face.

"Your not performing your exor-whatever that is here!!. Thank you for your help but I suggest you both now leave" he said with sternly.

"Hiccup no listen!" Merida said standing up.

"Merida, I have already found a solution to this problem, the witch wants you to stay away from me and that's what she will get. I will divorce you and you can go back to Scotland or either I leave for somewhere else. This way nothing will happen to you" Hiccup said and Merida gasped.

"Your crazy Hiccup, here I am trying every possible way to save our relationship and you want to give me divorce" She shouted angrily.

"I am doing what's best for you, I can't let you die because of me" he replied.

"No you don't understand, I dont want to live without you. I am ready to fight for what's mine. We have faced many hardships together and won. I know that we can win this battle as well" she said taking his hand, her eyes pleading for his agreement.

Hiccup sighed, he knew better than to mess with Merida's stubbornness.

"Fine we are ready for the exorcism"

Yay I am back with my inspiration, I went to watch a horror movie, The Boy. It was okay but it helped bring back my inspiration. I really liked how the couples work together and cooperate in a horror movie. So I decided to put together my favourite things Horror and Merricup. I really enjoyed writing this.

This is my longest chapter ever 5000 above words.

It took me a whole week to write this. I started last Saturday.

It loosely based on my favorite movies Insidious and Insidious 2.
